Larisa was knowledgeable and brought the local history to life. She was able to craft the tour based on our experience and curiosity. Highly recommend.

Itinerary
This tour includes a visit to the Academia, home to one of the world’s most iconic statues, David, by Michelangelo. Your guide will discuss the artistic mastermind behind this giant nude statue and his other 16th century works on display in the museum.
After the Galleria dell’Accademia you will explore the Piazza del Duomo, located in the heart of Florence. The square is one of the most visited places the city and in Europe!
In the Piazza del Duomo you will discover all about the Cathedral of Florence and its beautiful Dome which were designed by Brunelleschi in the XV century. During the tour however, you will not go inside the Dome but you will learn all about its fascinating history whilst observing it from the outside.
You will also see the Baptistery of the city, a religious building in Florence and one of the oldest buildings in the city. It is renowned for its three sets of bronze doors, which are one of the finest examples of renaissance art. *Other landmarks located in the Piazza del Duomo are the Loggia del Bigallo, a late Gothic building, the Opera del Duomo Museum, a museum containing many of the original works of art created for the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, the Arcivescoville and Canoncici’s palace, all located in the west zone of the square called Piazza San Giovanni.
Next, you will walk along what is known as Via dei Calzaiuoli, a wide and long pedestrian street connecting the Piazza del Duomo with the Piazza della Signoria. It is probably one of the busiest streets in the city, lined with elegant boutiques and fancy restaurants.
After this you will visit the Piazza della Repubblica, a public square that marks the ancient Florence. The square was completely re-designed in the XIX century and during the tour you will learn all about the changes done in the city during the period.
Afterwards, you will visit the Piazza della Signoria, the political square of Florence. The square is full of many original statues, such as the first public fountain of Florence, the Neptune which was done by Ammannati, or the amazing Perseus done by Cellini in the XVI century. There is also replica of David which was placed to show people where he stood before the statue stood before it was moved inside the Accademia.
The main attraction you will discover is the Palazzo Vecchio, the city’s townhall. It is considered the main symbol of civil power in Florence. The original building construction began in 1299 above the ruins of the destroyed Uberti Ghibelline towers and is attributed to Arnolfo di Cambio.
Just before finishing your tour, you will touch the nose of the “Porcellino”, a fountain of a wild board, an act considered to bring you good luck!
Your tour will come to an end at Ponte Vecchio, the main bridge of the city and the first built in Florence. It is the only bridge to have survived WW2.

We booked the private tour for our first visit to Florance. Annette was our guide and let me tell you, it would not have been the same experience without her. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. We wouldn’t have understood everything we saw as well without her. The museum and seeing David was well worth it, and walking around the city center with all the history made me look at it differently. Everything was beautiful and the experience was exceptional. I’d 100% recommend!
Wonderful day with Annette who was a great guide. Highly recommend this tour. Seeing David, the walk through the city, and the explanations at the Uffizi really brought alive the history and culture of the time and made what we were seeing so much more meaningful. Annette is very knowledgeable, paced the sights well and also provided cafe recommendations.
We really enjoyed this tour of Florence with our wonderful guide Giacomo (Jack)! We were captivated listening to the history and stories of this beautiful city. Highly recommend!
Wonderful tour of Florence, with Giacomo as our guide. Great balance of history, art, and humor! Gave us plenty of time to appreciate without too slow of a pace to drag on. Our guide was very knowledgeable but kept our teenage sons engaged. Highly recommended.
Excellent tour of Accademia and Florence Walking tour. Our guide, Annette, was very knowledgeable and taught us so much about the history of Florence. Excellent!
Our tour was great! If I could give Larissa more stars I would. she was funny and very knowledgeable. It made the experience of seeing David and a few parts of Florence so much more interesting and informative. I would highly recommend booking with Larissa if you have the chance.
We had a wonderful time on this tour. Larisa was our tour guide and she is fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of interesting anecdotes of the artists, influential families, and overall history of the times these pieces were made. She was funny and kept our interest for the whole tour. Definitely recommend booking a tour with her, as we learned a lot more than we would have just reading the plaques.
Our tour with Babylon Tours Florence was truly memorable! The experienced guide led us through the city’s artistic treasures, sharing entertaining stories that brought history to life. I appreciated the professional approach and how well they tailored the experience to our interests. It wasn’t just a typical tour; it felt like a heartfelt journey through Florence’s rich heritage. Thank you, Larisa Slavic, for such an amazing experience!
Our guide, Annette, was amazing. I forgot to ask her whether she has a degree in art or other formal training, but she was so well-informed. She explained so much political, world, and art history that it made the time we spent feel like much more than just seeing the amazing David statue by itself. We had a great time.
We were incredibly lucky to have Annette as our guide for several tours during our time in Florence, and she was absolutely outstanding. Annette is exceptionally knowledgeable about the city: its art, history, architecture, and the fascinating stories behind the people who shaped Florence. Every place we visited came alive through her explanations. We learned so much from her in a short time, and every tour felt thoughtful, insightful and inspiring. It genuinely enriched our entire trip. Highly recommended!
Best walking tour in Florence! Eleonora was a delight, passionate about art and made sure our experience was special! Recommend to anyone looking for a fun, educational experience!! Thank you Eleonora!!! You were wonderful!
Annette is thoroughly knowledgeable! Her presentation is paced and not overwhelming you with information at once. I appreciated that she wasn’t a tape recorder, spewing out preset tour, rather she fluidly fielded questions while covering all the highlights/history of Florence.
Marco brought Florence’s streets to life. He wove history, art, and everyday life together seamlessly and was great with our kids
Annette was a fantastic guide - she gave us a great insight in to the life of Michelangelo and she obviously has a great passion for the subject. The walk through the city was the icing on the cake - thank you :)
We had an amazing morning with Annette who took us straight into the Accademia with no waiting. She was so incredibly knowledgeable about the fabulous artworks, and we spent a long time staring in awe at beautiful David whilst Annette told us every detail of his history, anatomy and origin. Then on to a brilliant walk around the beautiful city centre where the history of every corner was revealed. Annette even gave us advice on where to get the best gelato in town! Outstanding.
Annette was superb. Cannot say enough. Annette was clear and understood our needs. Always watching to make sure we were comfortable. Gave a thorough explanation of history, culture of each site we visited.
Francesco was amazing with us! We were short time but he was sure to cover the hot spots and fill the day with history and nuances that one would, I’m certain, not get from any general guidebook! Just wonderful!!!!!
Annette was wonderful! Two members of our family have been to the academia and uffizi before and with Annette guiding us, we learned so many new things that The David and the art of the uffizi took on all new meaning. She is deeply informed so much so that any question we asked quickly had an answer (what’s that obscure building over there? Tell me about that tiny painting in the corner). She has a lovely personality and was helpful in guiding us to a very fun restaurant for lunch with a jovial owner who set us up with an amazing platter of food. The kids - ages 10 to 17 - loved the tour even though it was over 100 degrees and it was their fourth day of seeing museums. That takes an extraordinary tour guide to accomplish! We highly recommend!
Annette was fantastic. We had already done a Duomo tour and Medici Family tour. Definitely didn’t need the Medici family tour with all that she covered. Her love of Florence, history and art are evident in her storytelling making it easy for the guest to follow and comprehend. We learned so much from Accademia tour about David and beyond David. Only wish we would have had her for a Uffizzi tour.
A great tour well worth our time and money. A wonderful tour guide. A real Pro who took the time to show us so much. One of our best of many Viator tours. Thanks, Mike and Anne O'Herron, Bend OR
Eleonora was the best! She really engaged with all ages on our tour- from young teens to grandparents! She made it very exciting and was very knowledgeable. thank you!
our guide was entertaining and easy to understand. stopped for pictures with The David. was great, thank you .........
This was without a doubt the best tour we have EVER had. Jack's depth of knowledge was beyond anything we have experienced in the past. He taught us the history of the city beyond the common sites. I cannot recommend Jack highly enough.
Great opportunity to see art with competent advice. You have not to stand in a line. Good amount of people
Annette was fantastic. Engaging knowledgeable and personable couldn't have asked for a better guide. If she could just done something about the heat.....
Francesco was hands down the best tour guide we have ever experienced. My family and I had the best time and wished our tour would never end. Highly recommend this company and Francesco!!
Giacomo, our guide, was fantastic! He gave great background and details on everything we were seeing and made our tour experience unforgettable!
Giacomo was the best guide!! Such a lovely experience, his knowledge and kindness made for a truly memorable experience. Will recommend to everyone!
Our Tour Guide Francesco was the best. Knowledgeable and prepared. Brought the art and history to life. See David with Francesco.
I had the pleasure of touring Florence with my family of 10 this summer. Our tour guide, Annette, made this experience wonderful. She was a fountain of knowledge and an absolute delight. We collected so many amazing photos and learned so much. I would love to tour with Annette again, if I were to be so lucky.

Great tour, Greta was so nice! We are a family of 5, various ages. Greta made sure to speak to everyone in the family and to be interesting and entertaining. We loved it.
Annette was the best guide I have ever had. She is exceedingly knowledgeable as a historian and as a local resident. She is delightful company too! We Did not want our time together to Come to an and, and plan to return to Florence formore tours with Annette. Lauren Kingsley Indianapolis, IN
Eleonora made this tour a delight. Just listening to her talk of Michel-Ange Le Bernin and Jean de Boulogne was astonishing. I tôt ally recommande her
Eleonora was a blast ! Lively, funny and unlimited understanding of Firenze. This is the best introduction ever of this magnificent city
We had a great time on our tour with Elena! She was so wonderful and kind to work with. She gave us lots of information, engaged us with insightful questions, and offered an adaptable/flexible tour to make sure our 2 girls were involved in all the learning. She was a wealth of information and was able to answer all of our questions as well as offer lots of viewpoints while discussing the statue of David. We walked away from that exhibit not feeling rushed, but feeling like we had gained so much perspective on a work of art that we were all so excited to see in person. She also gave us all the information as we toured some of the highlights of Florence. She even took several pictures for us to cherish later. Elena was an amazing guide and we would recommend this tour!
Excellent tour!! We learned so much in just 2.5 hours. Really recommend to take this tour if your new in florence. Annette was really nice and knew everything about florence!
Great guide very knowledgeable and helpful . Gave us the information about the history which was helpful and interesting
Tour guide was excellent as was communication and coordination for the visit. We loved it. Only reason for a 4 is that we wanted more time on the city part of the tour, for example we didn’t have the chance to see ponte vecchio. But I still highly recommend and greatly appreciated all our tour guide shared with us.
Samuela did an excellent job finding us in the huge crowd trying to get to this tour. She was very knowledgeable about not only the statute of David but also had excellent information about the other exhibits of art and musical instruments. The walking tour in the town was excellent as well. Her great tips about restaurants really helped our day go well. This was a great tour and well worth it!
Elena was a fantastic guide. We had a situation with a late train and the a snafu with a rental car that made us even later, and she was patient and calming with us. The tour itself was informative and insightful. We learned so much more with Elena than we could have on our own.
Private tour with Francesco was fantastic! He was informative, answered all questions and adjusted to our pace. Definitely recommend this company and guide. A+
Babylon Tours has exemplary customer service. We needed to fit in another tour on the same day. They were immediately responsive to emails and did all they could to be accommodating. We are very appreciative. Our guide Elena taught us much! She brought the history and art to life.
Alessandra was a TERRIFIC tour guide on this wonderful, memorable experience. We had a private tour of the Accademia and the Uffizi. Alessandra has remarkably in-depth knowledge of the history, intrigue and art history, which combined to make the tour outstanding. We have done more than one Uffizi tour through the years, and this was the best. We had the benefit of walking through the city and hearing the history of many important sights - Duomo, the river and Pontevecchio, to name a few. She also had all the pro-tips for getting to the key parts of the museum ahead of crowds, which was super. A+++
Meeting Laura. She was wonderful so knowledgeable. Of course seeing all the sights on our walking tour as well.
The tour is simply exquisite. We were mesmerized by the Statue of David. The explanations and informations given to us in every detail by our tour guide Annette is just so wonderful. We learnt so much about arts and culture, the renaissance period, Medici family and much more as we walked around the historical sights with Annette after we visited the Accademia. A must tour when you are in Florence.. and yes do make sure Annette is your tour guide.
Fantastic tour that really helped us understand the history of Florence. Alessandra was a fabulous guide, very knowledgeable and interesting. Highly recommended!
The tour we went on was very informative. Our tour guide Eleonora, is very passionate about her city. We learned so much and she made it very enjoyable. The private tour was designed just for us and was perfect.
