Itinerary
Pass by one of Florence’s oldest churches and a cornerstone of the Medici family’s history.
Take a look at the impressive San Lorenzo Church, one of Florence’s oldest and most important churches, deeply tied to the Medici family. Inside, there's the Medici Chapels, home to Michelangelo’s sculptures and the opulent Chapel of the Princes.
Enjoy freshly made cantucci, known as biscotti, paired with their perfect Tuscan match: Vin Santo, a naturally sweet white wine. A classic local ritual and a delicious taste of tradition.
The Central Market is a 19th-century iron-and-glass landmark celebrating Florence’s food culture, with traditional food stalls downstairs, and a food hall upstairs.
The San Lorenzo Outdoor Leather Market is one of Florence’s liveliest open-air markets. Wander among colorful stalls selling Italian leather goods, scarves, and souvenirs while enjoying the vibrant energy of the historic district.
Meet Marco, a market legend selling Tuscan cheeses and cured meats for 40 years. Discover his famous pecorino window with 46 varieties and taste local favorites. Don’t be surprised if truffle cheese follows you home!
The Le Lame stand, inside the Central Market, is run by the same family for generations, and it brings daily treasures from the Tuscan hills, including olive oils, vinegars, wines, liqueurs, and traditional flavours. Try a variety of this organic products!
To feel the true Florentine spirit, stop at Bar del Mercato, where vendors gather for coffee, wine, and gossip. Mingle with locals and enjoy one of Florence’s best coffees.
Discover true Florentine street food with the legendary Bambi family. Taste lampredotto made with a century-old recipe, and try Tuscan meatballs, all paired with a glass of Sangiovese wine for the full local experience.
Stop by this shop that used to sell only balsamic vinegar, oil, and pasta, now serving genuine Tuscan cooking (takeaway only). NOTE: This kitchen cooks with only genuine, seasonal ingredients, so the dish changes throughout the year rather than following a set menu.
Step into this historic wine shop, run by three generations of sommeliers since 1944. Browse 2,500 labels and enjoy two wines from the family’s own farm, paired with a main course brought from the Market.
Learn how to spot real artisanal gelato at this gelateria, discovering the importance of color, texture, and temperature. Taste two flavors, including their signature creations.

Chiara A. “Kiara”…. Was a friendly down to earth very knowledgeable tour guide. This was a very small group… super intimate. All questions were welcome and answered more than sufficiently. We got to see the neighborhood market… taste the Florentine delicacies… meet small run business’s… “real people “…. well organized on time and more than value for the money.!
Chiara A (Kiara) was a delight. She was so knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful tour. We got to eat a bunch of different meats and cheese and biscotti from local vendors and got to try lampredotto which was surprisingly pretty tasty haha. The tour was just enough to be full while also being light enough to walk around comfortably. Would highly recommend!
Our tour with Kiara was amazing! She brought us all around the Central Market neighborhood and the Central Market itself. She has so much information about all the food of Florence and the Market, and was super fun and kind! Every stop along the way was fun, informative, and tasty. The food (and plenty of wine!) was so good and I’d recommend the tour and Kiara to anyone who has a morning available in Firenze!

I enjoyed the Florence Central Market Tour with Sara D. Wasn't a huge fan of the lampredotto, but I'm glad I tried it because I saw the street stands everywhere. The cantucci was delish.
This was a highly enjoyable 3+ hours going through the food types that are typical in Florence - from breakfast cookies to snacks to cheeses/salamies to lunch to wine and finally gelato. We visited individual shops as well as the Central Market which was the main attraction. Our guide was superb! The group was 8 people so it was small and fun. We also asked about other things to do or see in Florence and got a "locals opinion" which is always wonderful.
Martino was an outstanding tour guide, prompt, polite, knowledgeable, and responsive to all questions.the culinary experiences were truly unique and we ate food we had never had before. Thanks to Martino for a truly great day

The experience of this private tour has been so amazing. Sara D. has been so fun to do the tour with, very knowledgeable, and the vendors have been so amazing. It’s been such a blast! I highly recommend doing a private tour if you can. The amount of personal attention and ability to ask questions without interruptions from others is beautiful.
Incredible morning being shown around the central market, and getting a taste of variety of vendors. Nadia was so welcoming and getting the local’s experience was special. A must do activity in Florence.

We had an amazing time with Eli. All the food was delicious and it was wonderful to meet all the vendors who take such care in the food and wine they produce. Even having visited Florence several times before, I learned so many new things. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Sarah D. was great. We throughly enjoyed the food tour. It was like being with an old friend. Very lively and didn't feel formatted.
Sarah D was the most amazing tour guide. She extended so much knowledge, and was the kindest person. It truly felt like a friend was showing us around. The tour was about 3 hours long and it was the perfect amount of time. There were breaks and time to just look around. If you ever get the chance to do this tour, DO IT, but most importantly ask for Sarah D!
Sara D was spectacular. She was extremely personable and welcoming throughout the entire tour, making us feel like part of the local experience. Highly recommended this tour, but more specifically Sara D!

Kiara was an excellent guide around Florence with great insight into the regions food.
We spent a lovely morning with Chiara, the meet up spot was easy to find and she was easily spotted too which was very handy! She took us around some beautiful local food places where she was well known by all the vendors who all made us feel very welcome! She is very clearly passionate about the local cuisine and was very encouraging, even giving us some quizzes to identify the ingredients through taste which was very fun, and patient with as as we tried new things (unfortunately, the Lampredotto was not for me... But my wife loved it!) We really enjoyed the pace of the tour, the atmosphere and the history we learned as we toured the local area, meeting and speaking to the families that have been here for generations and sampling those beautiful wines, meats, cheeses and delicious gelato to end it all (let's not forget the Cantucci which will hold a special place in my heart forever) The price of the tour was well worth the experience, I would recommend the tour and Chiara to anyone who is looking for a relaxed fun afternoon and want to experience proper Firenze cuisine 🩷
Elisa was such a wonderful guide! She was funny, friendly, and gave us great insight and history of the food of Florence.
