Lorenzo was very informative and personal. My young adult sons and myself connected with him over music, culture, and humor. We very much enjoyed getting to know him and appreciated our small group tour of the museum and baptistry.

Itinerary
Facing the cathedral in Piazza del Duomo, the Baptistery of San Giovanni is one of Florence’s most ancient and sacred buildings, dating back to the 11th century. Its distinctive octagonal design, covered in white and green marble, is a stunning example of Florentine Romanesque architecture. Inside, the dome dazzles with gold Byzantine-style mosaics depicting scenes from the Bible and the Last Judgment. The Baptistery is also famous for its three magnificent bronze doors, especially the “Gates of Paradise” by Lorenzo Ghiberti, which Michelangelo himself admired. Rich in history and beauty, this extraordinary space has been the site of baptisms for centuries, including that of Dante Alighieri.
The Opera del Duomo Museum in Florence is a must-visit for anyone wanting to delve deeper into the history and artistry of the city’s iconic cathedral complex. Located just behind the Duomo, the museum showcases an extraordinary collection of original sculptures, reliefs, and architectural elements that once adorned the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, and Giotto’s Bell Tower. Highlights include Michelangelo’s moving Pietà Bandini, Donatello’s expressive Magdalene, and the original panels of Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise. With beautifully curated spaces and stunning reconstructions, the museum offers a fascinating journey through centuries of faith, creativity, and Florentine genius.
Beneath Florence’s Cathedral lies the Crypt of Santa Reparata, an evocative archaeological site revealing the ancient layers of the city’s spiritual history. Visitors can explore the remains of one of Florence’s earliest Christian basilicas, dating back to the 4th–5th century. Among the ruins are intricate mosaics, ancient tombs, and structural foundations that predate the current Duomo. The crypt also houses the final resting place of Filippo Brunelleschi, the brilliant architect of the cathedral’s dome. A visit to the crypt offers a rare and fascinating glimpse into the city’s early Christian roots and the architectural evolution of its most famous landmark.
Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence’s magnificent cathedral, is one of the most iconic landmarks in Italy and a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Built over centuries, the cathedral dominates the city skyline with its majestic red-tiled dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, a true marvel of engineering and vision. The interior is vast and serene, adorned with stunning frescoes, stained glass windows, and intricate marble floors. Highlights include Giorgio Vasari’s massive Last Judgment fresco inside the dome and the beautiful clock above the entrance, still working according to a unique 24-hour system. Visiting the cathedral is a journey through faith, art, and history, a symbol of Florence’s cultural and spiritual heart.
Giotto's Bell Tower is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Italy and an essential part of Florence’s Cathedral complex. Designed by Giotto in the 14th century, the tower rises nearly 85 meters and is adorned with vibrant marble panels and detailed sculptural decorations. Climbing its 414 steps rewards visitors with panoramic views over the rooftops of Florence and the iconic dome of the Duomo. A true gem of Florentine art and engineering. Customers are kindly informed that Giotto’s Bell Tower will remain closed from November 10th to 14th.

A huge thank you to our incredible guide, Yaniel, for such a wonderful experience in Florence today. His knowledge was absolutely impressive and brought so much history to life for us. We visited the Baptistery of St. John and the Opera del Duomo Museum, and having someone so passionate and informed guiding us made all the difference. Beyond his knowledge, Yaniel was genuinely kind, gracious, and an absolute pleasure to spend the day with. We learned so much and left with an even deeper appreciation for Florence and its remarkable history. Thank you for making the day so special!
The biggest issue with this tour was the complete confusion around the meeting point. The location listed in the booking (right front of the cathedral near the orphanage) was incorrect. When we contacted the tour operator, they repeatedly insisted that this was the correct spot. However, another group on the same tour (booked through GetYourGuide) experienced the exact same issue. It was only after they called the operator via WhatsApp that the correct meeting point (left rear of the cathedral) was finally confirmed. Out of just three groups on the tour, two were affected by this, which clearly shows this was not an isolated mistake but a coordination issue on the operator’s end. It caused unnecessary stress and delays at the start of what should have been a smooth experience. As for the tour itself, it was quite underwhelming. Much of the information was delivered through pre-recorded audio, with very little added context or engagement from the guide. It felt impersonal and lacked the depth you would expect from a guided experience of such an important site. Overall, between the disorganization and the lackluster delivery, this tour did not meet expectations. I would not recommend booking this experience in its current form.
I took the tour in Spanish. The guide Yaniel was fantastic. He has a vast knowledge of art and he explained everything perfectly. I enjoyed the tour very much!
Excellent way to experience the cathedral. The tour was so educational. Our guide, Barbara, was fantastic! She answered so many of our questions and really spent the time to enrich our experience!
Our guide spent nearly an hour talking at us. Then headed to the museum which was closed for the day. I knew that but why didn’t the guide. The timed entry on the tickets were different on each ticket which was very confusing. We finally got into the cathedral but the dome is not included. The fine print doesn’t say there are tickets but the whole group thought they were so that says something about how this was written. An extremely disappointing trip.
Very good guide who really knew her information. Tour ran efficiently and was easy to find. However it was rather too long because it was delivered in two languages which doubled the time to 3 hrs.
We’ve used Viator in years past in multiple countries and have been very satisfied. This tour however was horrible! We first booked a private Duomo tour which Viator then said the couldn’t schedule. We signed up for a group tour instead. The guide never introduced herself and didn’t seem to know any information about the Duomo. 4/5ths of the sanctuary was roped off for some reason, so we stood in the back of the Duomo while the guide showed the group of about 20 people pictures of what we would normally have seen if she would have been able to take us further into the space! 15 minutes into the tour people began rolling their eyes, walking away and leaving the tour. They should have canceled the tour when they realized you couldn’t see most of the building!
A bit disappointing that it was not skip the line to the cathedral - it turns out it is impossible to skip this line. Cathedral visit alone was a complete waste of money - you can just line up for free. But the remaining part of the tour was useful - you got an explanation of parts of the baptistry, and a whistlestop tour of the museum. The only bizarre bit was we didnt get into the crypt as part of this tour, we had to line up again just to see it later. So not a complete waste of money, but next time I would just buy a 20euro combo ticket and line up, with an audio guide from the internet or a good guidebook.
Our family of four reserved The Duomo Complex Private Tour to see ALL of the Duomo's offerings, including the Baptistery and Museum. The Skip-the-Line tickets are valid for 72 hours, which meant we were able to climb Giotto's Bell Tower and see the Cathedral at our leisure. We learned so much of its rich history from our guide, Elizabeth. Her command of the English language is excellent and she is very personable and expert, in all things Florentine. This tour was a highlight of our trip to Florence - I highly recommend it.
Tour guide is really not needed nor useful. Ticket was not comprehensive and did not include climbing duomo. Guide was just okay.
DO NOT GO ON THIS TOUR. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE QUEUE JUMP OR GOING UP TO THE DUOMO VIEWPOINT. We decided to leave the tour early (along with approx 14 of the other guests) because of the following reasons, we asked for a full refund via email but ACCORD have not yet replied. Our credit card is now dealing with the issue. 1) the initial headphones were not working due to the guides old and broken set, the second set also broke and the guide simply shrugged his shoulders. 2) Due to having no headphones we could not hear the guide and saw it pointless to continue. 3) the website advertised 'queue jump' but this was not the case, we joined their employee in the queue and waited 45mins to enter the (free) duomo- we saw this as false advertising and we are very unhappy with that the 1.5hr duomo trip included this queue time as part of their tour time! We simply stood silently in the queue and the guide gave us no historic facts or info - we just stood and waited!! 4) although our guide dealt with the headphone situation to the best of his ability we didn't not feel that his English was sufficient and as such we really struggled to learn anything from him. This was very frustrating as we did not want to be rude and leave but we did not want to continue. 5) I would like to add that their website states that we will climb the duomo, our guide told us that we did not have a reservation for this and we would have to miss out due to it being busy. We were under the impression that this was included in the price of our tour. Not the case. Stay away.
Whenever you get a chance to take a tour that includes "Skip the Line", take it. It saves an hour or two waiting in the hot sun. While you can't technically skip the line for the cathedral, the tour company arranges someone to stand in line for you so your wait is only about 10 minutes. After the talk outside and the tour through the cathedral (great talk, amazing cathedral), the tour took us through the baptismal (no waiting) and then the museum of the Duomo next door (skipping the line). The museum is quite spectacular in itself. Summary: great tour, glad we took it.

Wonderful Duomo complex tour, guide was very informative.

This tour was disappointing for several reasons. We were told to be 15 minutes early to meet our guide, but she was a half hour late so we wandered through the crowds and worried until she finally showed up. Then the tour felt rushed because she was running late and had another tour to get to. Too, I was most interested in the dome itself and we weren't allowed close enough to see it. Had I known we would not be allowed to gaze into the dome I would not have purchased 4 tickets for the family. One positive was our guide. She was knowledgeable and apologetic about our experience.

Very good tour! The lines were long in August, but we did not have to wait. We got excellent information in the Duomo, Baptistry, and the Duomo museum. Although the guide's accent was a little difficult to understand, I recommend this tour.

Excellent tour - a little too crowded but worked through the crowds - fascinating details about all aspects of the Complex.

This was a good tour - BUT - we paid for skip the line - and the Duomo no longer has skip the lines - so we waited 35 minutes for the tour to start only to wait 35 more minutes for the lines. It moved but that part was a waste of and time. the guiding was good.

It was a great guided tour overall and worth it to skip the really long line to enter the Duomo.
The museum was closed at the time that we were supposed to enter so, our tour guide discussed the exterior.
Some time later, 30 minutes? the museum did open and we were able to finish the tour inside, however, our time inside was cut short.
We did have to wait in a long line to see the bell tower, and that was expected.
The entire complex is fabulous and worth spending much time there.

Misleading...The whole group was under the impression that we get to clime the dome..WRONG. The tickets to clime the dome is included BUT we had to make our own reservation to clime the dome, which we were never told and they were booked the day of our tour.

Not sure I would recommend this tour for the money. We couldn't get tickets to climb the duomo sold out- even though we paid for them on the only day we were there to see the complex. The tour company did get us tickets for the next day, but we were already going to be gone. Very dissapointing. Also, this is not a skip the line for either the group tour entrance or for climbing the bell tower. We waited in line for both.

This place is amazing! Our tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. She also made sure that all the people in her group were able to stay together. The only problem we had was that on the day we went it was raining and the organization of gathering the tour groups together was very chaotic because everyone was huddling under umbrellas and under overhangs instead of the open square. I would recommend this tour.

Great tour of Duomo including the Baptistery and the museum. The guide was very knowledgeable and informative. The tour could be longer to allow for more in-depth exploration.

Very nice tour. The guide was well informed and knew the history and the tour organizer was available for any help!!

Great to have a guide to point out the noteworthy site and give an overview of the history.

Excellent tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain and answer questions.

Outstanding! Highly informed guide. We would have missed so much about the Complex without the guide.

Well run tour. Florence is an extremely busy city so a large allowance must be made for this and the difficulties. Our guide was very knowledgable and passionate about the Duomo anf Florence in general. Good value for money

the description said climb to the top of dome was included. It's not a skip the line deal - It's free but it's a separate and 1.5 hr long line to do. This was a bit deceptive. Tour otherwise was awesome.

Well-done, well organized, informative guide. Beautiful beautiful introduction to Florence. And skipping the monstrous line was a great bonus.

Excellent tour! Guide was very informative and enjoyed her job. Would recommend the tour for anyone who doesn't want to look up all the information themselves.

This was a very good tour and allowed us to focus on the important aspects of the Duomo without wasting time. Terrific guide!!!!

Our guide was nice and I don't know if it was bad equipment or her very thick accent, but we could not understand most of what she said. By the end of the tour our group of over 20 was down to four because everyone left. It was a waste of money!

Guide was very informative and welcoming. And recommended best time to climb the Duomowhich we did later in daythe tour and climb were the highlights of our visit to Florence! I would highly recommend this tour

Guide was very sweet but she was difficult to understand at times - partly due to the quality of the radios and headsets this company uses. Other tour companies we've used in Florence had higher quality units.

Locating our guide, or more accurately the assistant assigned to meet us before the guide arrives and tour begins, did not go very smoothly. Once the tour started we were very pleased with our guide and were awestruck by the art/architecture/history.

Great tour, with historical information provided by our guide. Beautiful complex!

Great tour guide. Great attitude. Great knowledge. She was very thorough, and was always making sure if we needed to rest. Was a very hot day! Give her a raise and a bonus!!!

Our tour guide, a young man, was very informative and gave us great insight into what we were seeing. It was a wonderful experience.

Guide was exceptional and waited for us even though we could not find her initially in the crowd by the Duomo. She took extra time with us and gave us a great tour of the Duomo complex.

Best part of this tour - the beautiful mosaics in the Baptistery and the well-constructed tour through Santa Reparata.

We wanted to compliment our tour guide AMI; she was excellent and very competent. We appreciated her both as a person and as a guide—very professional, helpful, and super kind! It was a beautiful experience
Beautiful museum with beautiful sculptures and an explanation of the construction of Duomo Cathedral
Beautiful to visit the Duomo, the museum and Giotto's bell tower. ( 413 steps uphill and as many downhill, with very narrow areas and spiral staircases where you had to slip with people going up and down at the same time .. but it's absolutely worth it!) Too bad for Brunelleschi's Dome, for which seats sell out quickly, and for the Baptistery that follows too strict closing hours to the public.
We booked this ticket to avoid queuing everywhere and to visit the Dome. What was not our surprise to see that this last visit was not included in the ticket and especially that we spent more than 30 minutes in the access line to the cathedral, the guide then botched the rest of the tour, not having enough time (she had to join another group). Moreover, she showed sometimes questionable explanations... Not recommended!
