Loved seeing the David but as you can imagine it was super crowded! We also had no idea that there was as music room in the museum so this was a nice surprise!

Your guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the topic. Good pace and able to answer questions we had quite easily.
Maurizio’s detailed account of Michelangelo’s history started when we met at the piazza San Marco and captivated us throughout the Accademia Gallery: All Michelangelo's Masterpieces Guided Tour. His knowledge and passion for the subject really provided a valuable historical experience. 5 stars!!
Very knowledgeable guide who loved the subject. An amazing tour with a small group, which is the best with the crowds. Michaelangelo's sculptures are powerful.
We enjoyed our tour of the Accademia very much! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned a great deal not only about the statues but Michaelangelo’s life (which our guide clearly has a passion for). Having someone coordinate ticketing and entering the museum was also immensely valuable. Tour was primarily focused on Michaelangelo and statues, which was enough for us.
Our guide, Claudio, was especially knowledgeable and shared with us concepts and ideas that were then easily recognizable once inside the museum. Michaelangelo's various statue forms were presented as a way to understand the master's techniques and nuances that only Michaelangelo could do. We looked at all the planned works and then really had time to admire and understand the David statue very effectively. One of the members of our group recognized the importance of the base of the statue and its biblical symbolism which made the whole experience even more exciting. Thank you, Claudio!
Booked this tour 6 weeks in advance. Then 2 days before the day of the tour, the operator sent me an email to say they wanted me to push back to a later time. I reluctantly agreed (no choice was given) as obviously we had plans afterwards. Shortly after, they replied again to say they had cancelled my booking entirely as "Academia is very busy". When I replied this was unreasonable and they should honour a booking made (esp as their marketing info says they will always run a booked tour even if numbers are small), the owner replied "well you as a customer can cancel too" and that I can find some other operator. Wow wonderful. Sums up this company's service attitude and level of professionalism. Luckily my hotel was able to arrange another tour operator on the same day who did not seem to have an issue getting tickets (and ended up being a bit cheaper too). I showed the emails to my hotel and they said they had never seen such unprofessional behaviour.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We loved our tour! He was able to answer our questions and offer insight to the sculptures and paintings.
We had a little trouble finding our tour, as we didn't read the meeting directions closely. The tour guide called us and led us to him. That was a plus as it was very busy around the entrance. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable on what we were seeing inside. He shared a lot of interesting information. Very good tour!
Michelangelo’s David was worth the frustration of massive crowds. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and personable. However, since our main focus was to see David, the tour got tedious.
My daughter and I had the BEST tour with Maurizio! He met us outside the Accademia and gave us the most amazing tour, full of insights into the art and the history of Florence. His English is excellent and he was really accommodating to me--I have hearing loss. We had a lot of tour guides and Maurizio was exceptional.
Claudio was very knowledgeable about the Accademia. He answered our questions thoroughly. Skipping the very long lines was a huge plus. Would recommend him and Viator to others.
We were late (lost!) and the company called and gave me directions on the phone and they waited for us which was much appreciated. Claudio was very knowledgeable and doesn't make you feel rushed like many tour guides. His English was excellent and you can see he enjoys sharing his home city and its wonderful art. Highly recommend this tour.
This was an amazing guided tour with Claudio. Firstly it was really fun! Some tours can feel like a chore, but Claudio bought everything to life. It was a good balance between historical and fun discussion. We asked lots of questions and were able to see everything at our pace. Claudio has incredible knowledge on the art on display and able to relate it to modern life.
We had only an hour but Claudio took us through all the highlights. Was a fantastic guide and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
This is, without question, the best guided tour my husband and I have attended. Claudio paced the tour well and was extremely knowledgeable. He connected the art to the politics and the time period seamlessly. He was so easy to listen to! The tour went by quickly- we would have gladly hired Claudio for all our other tours.
Claudio provided an incredibly detailed history of Michael Angelo’s life, the history of his time in Florence and Rome. Claudio brought the paintings and sculptures to life by explaining the influences of the various artists, the super detailed meanings of the art, andthe relationships and influences of the artists. It was a wonderful experience!
Claudio gave us a lot of information as we walked through the Accademia with our headsets on. We were in a small group, our family of four and another couple. The queue to get in was very short (5 mins). Claudio was extremely knowledgeable and it was great to learn more about the artists and hear about the history of art in Florence, right from the beginning of the Renaissance to the modern day. Claudio is clearly passionate about all of Florentine art and he guided us through the galleries and up to David where we spent a good 20 minutes learning about this masterpiece. If I had one piece of advice, it would be to try and engage the young people more. Whilst the art history knowledge was impeccable and received very well by the adults, it would have been good to have some stories or anecdotes that would catch the imagination of the teenagers, and maybe engage them with a few questions. Overall, we really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Mauricio was very informative and I enjoyed the time to see and learn. He pointed out several things that I would not have observed otherwise.
We had an amazing tour provided by Lara, who has been exceptional in conveying a lot of treasures of knowledge and passion about the artists and the main masterpieces. Extremely high quality tour!
Claudio was my tour guide and he was excellent at explaining the pieces of art, musical instruments and their importance during the time periods. I got a good understanding of the influence of the Church , powerful families and the significance of symbolism used throughout the artworks by the artists. Highly recommend!
Our Guide Claudio was a passionate and educated young man his knowledge was extensive and we appreciated his insights
We only had one full day in Florence. Seeing the Accademia Gallery was a priority, as we've tried to get in on previous visits, but couldn't because lines were too long and we didn't reserve ahead. This tour was excellent. I can't remember our guide's name, but he did a great job! Our only problem was trying to find the meeting place. The time of our tour, it was raining and the Piazza Signoria was pretty busy. We asked lots of locals where the address was and couldn't find it. Ultimately, I ended up calling the number on my reservation and the guide answered and met us. We were the only ones on the tour, three of us with the guide. He started us off in the Loggia dei Lanzi because of the rain. (I'd suggest you have an umbrella with you, as this is an outdoor walking tour until you get to the Accademia.) He gave us all kinds of information on Michelangelo, Florence both Renaissance time and later, and on other artists of the Renaissance. He had interesting little trivia tidbits too. We walked past and viewed the outside of Orsanmichelle for the sculptures there, then continued to the Accademia, entering with the "skip the line" advantage. Inside the Accademia, he gave us more insight into some of the works there, including the David. Then the tour ends, but you are allowed to stay in the Accademia until it closes. This tour was so informative. Excellent use of a couple hours in Florence!
Federika was fantastic. She was knowledgeable about not just the David, but all things Florence. It was raining that day so just my wife and I took the tour. It turned into our own private tour. I highly recommend this tour to learn about Michelangelo, his work and life.
Don't be fooled by the low number of reviews. This was an incredible tour! Elena was *EXCELLENT* and super friendly. She took us to a few places that weren't scheduled since we were a group of only 4 people. Her knowledge of everything, willingness to answer questions, and general friendliness made this tour unforgettable!
I can’t remember our tour guide’s name, but he was fantastic. This gives you a history of the David, and much more information on the other sculptures you see and their history. The “skip the line” gets you by the sea of people waiting for a glimpse of the masterpiece. It is a must to do the skip the line. The tour was limited to 8 people, so it was very intimate. Our guide had passion for the tour and did a great job!
The visit to the Accademia Gallery is without a doubt the one visit every person makes once in Florence. I am glad that our tour guide for to our truly small group (three people in total) was Giacomo. His knowledge of Florence, its close relation to the Medici Family, its history and the renaissance importance for our civilization is probably bar none of any other guide I had during my week stay in Florence, for which I hope I am not unfair to the other tour guides I had the pleasure to meet. Especially because the visit to see the statue of David is something of a ritual for everybody, I am more than glad that I was lucky to have him as our tour guide. Thank you Giacomo!
Turned out our small tour consisted of me and my husband. Kristina lead us from one Plazza to the next all the way up to the Gallery where we were given an indepth explanation of the history, different streets and architecture and sculptors we met along the way. The history of Michaelangelo the David was fascinating. Worth the trip!
We met Mauritzio exactly at 3 pm and were happy to discover that the three of us were his entire group. (December is a great time to visit Florence.) He is everything you want in a guide—knowledgeable, articulate, kind, and enthusiastic about his subject. I never felt he was merely reciting dates and names. The tour itself is interesting without being exhausting. Two plus hours ending at the Accademia, where you may stand awestruck looking at Michelangelo’s David for as long as you like. Tip: Make time during your trip to visit Santa Croce church to see Michelangelo’s tomb (among others). Ask for one of the volunteer guides to show you around. Umberto was brilliant.
Our Tour with Maurizio was so enjoyable 4 years ago , that we hired his company again. We were not disappointed ! Trying to navigate our own way around the abundant historical and art treasures that are contained in this one stunning city is daunting . Our guide Maurizio ,had knowledge and passion that was entertaining and informative . It brought so much more meaning to our vacation and his command of English language is impeccable !
Mauricio, our tour guide, was wonderful! My family and I enjoyed every minute of our 3 hour walking tour of Florence that included a tour of the Academia to see Michelangelo’s David. My group found Mauricio very knowledgeable, entertaining and full of great stories regarding the Medici family. We discovered the charms of Florence and never felt hurried. We marveled at the Renaissance architecture and Renaissance art up close and personal. Mauricio was able to answer all of our questions about this wonderful Tuscan city. I recommend this walking tour because you are on a very leisurely stroll through the most charming city in Italy.
This was our first of 4 guided tours through our Florence Pass (highly recommend you book all intended museum tours here!), We could not have asked for a more informed or personable tour. Honestly this tour was so much more than we expected (not just the Accademia) as Maurizio has created the perfect introduction and walking tour from the Piazza to the crowning glory, David in the Accademia. Our group of 3 could not stop talking about the positive impact of this incredible tour and how we felt we just finished a semester of art history in a matter of hours and in the most enjoyable way.

Our guide was born and raised in Florence so she added an extra dimension of credibility to our tour besides, my spouse and I were the only ones on the tour, which made it especially intimate!. Texan 41

I went for this tour with FlorencePass thinking of learning more about Florence and one of its most famous attractions. My expectation wasn't disappointed and meeting our guide at Piazza della Signoria and move from where David once stood in original, to the Academia gallery was truly full of interest and I fully enjoyed this experience with a very knowledgeable guide.

I enjoyed the way the tour starts in the piazza where the "David" was originally displayed . Our guide provided plenty of interesting information connecting each one of our steps from the piazza to the Academia.

Route was interesting. Michelangelo's David was worth the trip to Florence by itself!

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the fact that he led us through Florence and pointed out many other details as we were walking. The tour length was good. I would not want a tour to be longer, but if it were shorter, that would have been good too.

Our tour guide was VERY knowledgable and the tour was interesting. Once we arrived, it took us about 15 minutes to get into the Academia Gallery.

Today we took Roberta on a guided tour of the centre of Florence. Roberta reported on your city in perfect German and with a lot of enthusiasm. Unfortunately, unfortunately, unfortunately we only had a little time as we want to continue south, but Roberta made us want to visit Florence again...... Thank you again....😍😍😍😍
We enter the academy to admire THIS ARTWORK "THE GREAT DAVID" BY MICHEL ANGEL FAMOUS SCULPTOR OF THE RENAISSANCE who demonstrates his talent in making these majestic works
