Art And History In Florence: Small Group Walking Tour

We had an incredible experience on Juliette’s art history walking tour of Florence! Since no one else booked the tour, we ended up having a private two-hour experience, which made it even more special. We chose the nighttime option, and it was such a unique way to explore the city. Juliette walked us throughout Florence, sharing fascinating stories, history, and details about the places we visited. We discovered hidden spots and experienced parts of Florence that we never would have found or fully appreciated on our own. Her storytelling brought the city to life, and we learned so much along the way! Walking through Florence at night made the experience even more magical. We would highly recommend Juliette’s tour to anyone visiting Florence, especially if you want to go beyond the typical tourist stops and gain a deeper appreciation for the city’s incredible art, history, and culture.

Outstanding tour. A wonderful walk that started near the Duomo and ended at the Pontevecchio Bridge. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out many interesting sites. He also provided the historical context that results in great appreciation for what you see. Highly recommend this tour.

We did this tour at 8.30am on a Monday and I highly recommend it. For those who have done a lot of walking and are “sick of walking around” - you won’t even notice the distance you’ve covered until stand in Pontevecchio and look back to see the top of the Duomo in the distance. Our guide Julia set a wonderful chill walking pace and was so knowledgeable about her city and you could really tell her love of its history. Also “small group” tour is correct, we were three people plus our guide. It’s an personalised experience and you won’t forget it. I certainly won’t.

Juliette was a terrific guide, her knowledge of the history, art, sculpture &architecture of the time prior to and during the renaissance was impressive. As was her ability to communicate the information to the group. I really enjoyed the tour and learned a lot. It was fun.

Our guide Raffaello was incredibly knowledgeable. The ability to convey so much knowledge in a non native language really was impressive as well. We were absolutely blessed with this one! Just a note that the address the tour email sends you to, is about 5-6 buildings off. You want to head towards the duomo maybe 6 buildings and it is a business that deals in all sorts of tours!

Our guide, Julia, was very engaging, fun, knowledgeable and clearly wanted the best experience for us! Making the experience more personal by walking us through side streets ( not on tour ) giving history of the location as she led us to our planned reservation for dinner. A special experience - we were so fortunate to have Julia as our guide! You will local flavor of this beautiful city with exceptional tour guide. My 18 YO daughter and I attended this walking tour around Florence. Our guide, William, was knowledgeable, friendly and full of anecdotes. He took care to not lose anyone (there were eight of us on the tour) and his pacing worked well. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it!

She was very knowledgeable about the city and had myriad interesting facts about the city and its landmarks as well as famous hostorical characters who have influenced Florence and its development. I learned so many cool facts and she had some great recommendations for food and locations beyond just the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour and Julia if you're visiting the city.

This tour was exactly what we needed. A chance to get our bearings in Florence and hear some of the fascinating stories behind the art. Maria is a wonderful guide, incredibly knowledgeable and brings art to life. The pace was perfect. When asked, she also shared local tips on food, shopping and what not to miss while in Florence.

Julia was an excellent guide! Unfortunately, when we arrived for our 10am tour, we were informed that there wouldn’t be a guide available until 1pm. It would have been nice to know this in advance since we had planned our day around it. That said, everything worked out—Julia went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. She even helped us find the location of our next tour and adjusted our route so we’d arrive on time. Julia has a sweet spirit and shared fun, interesting facts about Florence that made the tour both enjoyable and memorable.

Giovanni spoke excellent English; the walking was easy and he chose places in the shade to explain things. Very interesting detail about the history of the buildings and the aristocracy who built them.

Raffaello was a fantastic guide, providing a detailed and enlightening Historical Florentine experience. He is an art history professor as well to make it an even more enriched walking tour! Providing the details of the architecture, the artistic timelines, and religious influences all throughout the city and tying a lot that we have learned during our education to what we were seeing on the walk. I highly recommend him as a guide!

Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and was very easy to understand (we are english speaking and he was very fluent). He had lots if good info and also gave us a few fun city tips! Great tour!

This was just OK. I think our original guide maybe have had an issue come up and they did some last minute rearranging. If I had it to do over again I would use this time to visit one of the museums.

Francesco was our guide on 21 April 2024 for Viator's Art and History Tour of Florence. He was the best guide we had on our 2 week trip to Italy with 4 couples. On this tour there were 2 couples which made it so nice because we could easily hear all the interesting things that Francesco had to say, and he let us set the pace more. Francesco is energetic, speaks superb English and fun to be with. We learned so much with Francesco, and we didn't want the tour to end! He told us he is a history school teacher, and I can imagine how much fun he makes learning for his students! Ask for Francesco if you book this tour.

We scheduled this super last minute and it might have been the highlight of our entire week-long trip in Italy. This was an excellent walking tour. Thanks to Giovanni I now know how to appreciate statues, their locations, the story behind the statue, and how to try to read a statue. His explanation of statues really opened a part of me that I didn't know existed. He explained how rich and powerful families conquered cities and how they incorporated their family's transitions and goals. Whatever powerful families built they ensured their family crest was on the building. He explained how the churches were built and their purpose. I will never look at a statue again the way I did before this tours. I am really amazed at Giovanni and his inept know but I must also say he is a professor and he is passionate about art history. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have him as a tour guide will not be disappointed. Good job Giovanni
