We had a wonderful guide he was a local . Full of passion about the history of his city. He was so knowledgeable about Michelangelo and the statue of David . It gave you a totally different perspective of the history behind the legend . We did not wait to get in at all . Totally recommend.
Great tour for those of us who like to hit the high points. We booked this tour primarily because we wanted to see Michangelo‘s David. We booked it for the afternoon of our arrival from the US because we knew we would be tired from the trip and figured it would beca good way to pass some time…we were right. The guide was very knowledgeable and we appreciated the insight she provided.
It was a great experience. It was easy to find the starting point, and a quick walk to the museum entrance. The guide was friendly and informative. The museum does start emptying out around 6 so the evening tour is nice.
We enjoyed our visit to Academia with Loredana. She explained the history of the many famous pieces and in-depth of David. Just beautiful. Recommend this tour and if you can get Loredana you will be lucky.
Great little tour. Lots of information on David that I didn’t know.
Firstly, our 17:00pm tour was cancelled the day before with just over 24th a notice. We were offered an alternative time at 14:15 (so hardly an “evening” tour). No matter we accepted the new time thankfully it didn’t clash with anything else we had booked. Then the tour itself was so short! Given it’s not a big gallery i didn't think it would take the suggested “1hr 30” minutes but excluding the waiting times and queuing to get in etc. we were probably only with our guide for 30-40mins. In my view then it was quite overpriced. Our guide was lovely and kept us interested but unfortunately, i could not understand a lot of their info either through external noise and poor audio from the earpiece or their thick accent. Overall i wasn’t very happy with the experience.
Seeing the Statue of David at the Accademia is already a bucket-list experience, but laying eyes on the sculpture in person truly takes your breath away! Touring it with Marco made the experience even more special. Marco was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire visit. He didn't just point out the art; he truly explained it, breaking down the history, the technique, and the sheer genius behind Michelangelo's work in a way that was fascinating and easy to understand. His deep insights into the details of the David gave us a whole new appreciation for this true masterpiece that we never would have gained on our own.
We were there for a quick visit. The line was easy and quick to get the tickets but one of the customer service representatives was very rude when asking for the id for one of the audio devices. The musseum was interesting and with many things to see and learn from.
Cosette was very knowledgeable and thorough. Great English and sense of humor. Wonderful tour!
Marco was a very passionate and knowledgeable guide…it was a great introduction to the history of Florence as well as learning about the statue of David…
Franchesca was truly great! She led an amazing tour and provided us with so much knowledge! I wish I would’ve booked the full 3 hour trip.
This was a bit of a disaster of a tour. The guide was at meeting place but did not have our tickets or anything—shared that the operator was not showing up. We ended up having to wait for the guide to go stand in line to get our tickets in the heat of the day. Our tour ended up being cut short because of this. Left with little information or support while viewing the David. The headsets she provided were not clear and muffled. I would never book through this Organization again.
Disappointing. The description made it seem it would be less crowded as it was an “evening” tour. It was absolutely packed in the gallery. The guide didn’t introduce himself as having any particular knowledge of art history and spent much of the tour talking about things we could have learned from the audio guide at the museum. We didn’t cover any other artworks in the museum other than David and a short mention of the other Michelangelo statues. The guide’s English was hard to understand and this was compounded by the fact that the company used over the ear radios (every other tour has used in ear buds) making it nearly impossible to hear in the cacophony of the gallery. Not worth the money.
Great tour guide and very knowledgeable. It was everything I expected and more! This place is loaded with some of the most beautiful art in the world.
An informational tour with a knowledgeable guide. Luciana was very interesting to listen to and provided information that was unknown to me.
Well spoken guide! Very informative. We learned a lot more by signing up for a tour than if we had done our own research.
Tour guide was very nice. Tour was efficient, not too short but with ample information.
We were in Florence for a short time and could not get a ticket to suit our schedule. This tour at 5:00 pm was perfect. Guide was very informative and gave us plenty of time to view major works and David. I recommend this one hour tour.
If your time is short this is an ideal way to get in and see the David in the afternoon when the museum starts to empty. You don’t have a lot of time to explore beyond the David itself, and the museum is worth the time if you can spare it. If the David is all you have time for, or you want to do a second trip this event is a perfect way to skip the line with a guided experience for some more detail, and a chance to see the David without the press of so many people.
Very informative about the artists!
This was a very easy tour group to find and we enjoyed it. Was amazing to see the statue of David. This was a very easy tour group to find, and we enjoyed it. It was amazing to see the statue of David.
What an amazing experience we had with our guide. His passion was infectious and we fell in love with David. This was our favourite tour as we came away with so much knowledge that we would not have had without our guide. I would recommend this tour to everyone visiting. We had some time at the end to look around but we kept returning to David.
This tour was well worth the time and money! Our guide was very informative and shared historical details and information that brought the history and art of Florence alive to us.
Stunning! The gallery has several Michelangelo sculptures in addition to David. There are many paintings and sculptures in the building-but David is majestic!
We had a wonderful experience at the Academia Gallery seeing the statue of David- our tour guide was so passionate about the history of the art and statues at this museum. We could tell she genuinely enjoys what she is doing! We had plenty of time to explore the first floor of the museum and we were able to get up close for some amazing photos! We did have some difficulty with the ear piece staying in place- however it wasn’t anything that detracted from the experience! Highly recommend this opportunity to get up close and slip the lines!
Lucy was fantastic, she was so nice and friendly and knew so much answered all the questions with ease and made us all very comfortable
Incredibly interesting and guide was both very informative and kind
“Amazing tour! So knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough. Our tour guide really went the extra mile—highly recommend!”
Great experience! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions! He had a lot of interesting information about the artwork and of course about the Statue of David!
Our tour of the David in Florence was fantastic. Seeing the statue in person was breathtaking. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the history easy to understand. We noticed details we would have completely missed on our own. Highly recommended — a memorable highlight of our trip!
We had an amazing experience with our tour guide Lucia! She was so knowledgeable and passionate about Florence, the Academia, and everything she shared with us about the works of art. She knew exactly what time would be best to see the statue of David and went out her way to make sure that we received the best experience. The meeting point was easy to find, the Tour Guy personnel explained everything perfectly and speak several languages so they’re able to communicate with anyone. Skip the line is a must. We visited the Academia in December (off peak season), but there was still a line to get in so having skip the line was worth the money. I highly recommend the evening tour because people start to leave and you almost have David all to yourself. I also highly recommend The Tour Guy. We also booked them for another tour in Venice, and that tour guide was just as great!
I can confirm the 5 star reviews are true and was happy I chose the evening tour from the many guided tour options. As if seeing Michelangelo's David in front of you with my own eyes wasn't enough, our guide Marco did an outstanding job bringing both Michelangelo and David to life! It was informative, engaging, and even inspiring to listen to Marco. Seeing and hearing about Giambologna's plaster model of the Rape of the Sabines was a bonus with Marco's narrating. Thank you Marco for an unforgettable evening!
This was a most exceptional tour and guide. Highly recommended. The operator was so knowledgeable about Michelangelo and his life we were captivated through the entire tour. We took the last availed time, late in the day, which was perfect. There were no significant crowds and we got full unobstructed views of all his works and most importantly David
Our English speaking guide was outstanding in knowledge and presentation. Her insights and delivery where well timed.
We have a 5pm tour on a Friday which was perfect because we had enough time for the tour and then most people left so we had time for some great pictures when it was getting close to closing. Our guide was really knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the entire museum and told us great places to stand to get great perspectives of different art sections.
Group was about 18, but didn't matter as the radio receivers used were great. Could hear everything. Guide was great. Received a history of Michelangelo and his time in Florence. The David statue is absolutely divine. Had plenty of time and had the place to ourselves toward the end of the tour.
I am disabled and going to a meeting point before going to the museum was not going to work for me. I went much earlier to the shop and I was able to get the tickets there and then and advised to join the red line. It all went smoothly from there in.
As it turns out I knew very little about the statue other than it was created by Michelangelo. The guide was very knowledable, and I now have a much better appreciation for work of art.
We had the pleasure of being guided by Elisa Raimondo who worked for a company called Florence with Elvis. She was great, and can warmly ve recommended.
Lucy was so sweet and made it interesting for us. We don’t know much about art so if we walked around the museum on our own it wouldn’t have been nearly as interesting.
Beat the long lines and believe me there were Long lines Our guide was pleasant and well informed Thoroughly enjoyed this experience
The guided tour was very good. There was no major line-up to enter. The guide was very friendly, knowledgable and passionate about the information she was sharing with the group about Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze and statue of David.
Our guide was very gracious to have waited for us (we got stuck in rain traffic). Was very knowledgeable, and moved us along quite well, giving us plenty of free time to explore at our own pace. Loved the experience.
The evening tour of the Accademia Gallery was incredible! Fewer crowds meant uninterrupted views of Michelangelo’s David. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging, making the experience unforgettable for all ages. A must-do for Florence visitors!
You learn about the history of Florence and the influence of the Medici family and Michelangelo. recommend to anyone who enjoys history.
Marco was a great guide. Learnt so much about Michelangelo and the meaning behind David that we would not have known otherwise.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about both David and DaVinci, as well as the history of Florence. She made seeing this iconic statue even more meaningful.
The evening tour was worth every moment! The guide’s lively storytelling brought the history and artistry of David alive for everyone, including kids in our group. Entry was smooth, the explanations clear, and seeing David up close after hours felt magical. Highly recommended for art lovers and first-timers alike. Thank you Viator for such a great booking experience. Highly highly highly n highly recommendation for The Tour Guy for their service 👏
