I made reservations to stay here on 5/24/25. I advise the property I will be there at 10:30 pm for them to expect my arrival. They asked me to do a self-check-in. When I got to the property at 10:21 pm there was no key to enter the apartment. The entrance was not lighted, and I had to go up a staircase trying to find the light switch. When I did and found the apartment there was no key. I tried contacting Booking.com by system message with no luck. When I contacted the owner, they offered to bring the key in about 25 minutes. After they failed to have the key on site at the time of my arrival, I could not thrust it will take them 25 minutes to get there. My family and I were out in the middle of the street, on the sidewalk as there is no lobby to wait for them in the middle of the night. I did not feel safe and contracted a different location again though Booking.com. I requested a full refund for this reservation to at which the property owner initially said they understood. They day after, I contacted them to find out if they had done the refund and said they will only refund the tax and a $50.00 EUR for the inconvenience. It is now June 20, 2025 and I still fighting for a full refund. I end up having to dispute the charges on my credit card since even Booking.com was taking their side claiming that the check in time was at 11:00 pm and that I have arrived at 11:21 pm. They answer the call at a Cairo, Egypt calling center which is one hour ahead of Florence, Italy and their system showed me initiating my complaint with the owner at 11:21 pm when in fact in my side of the world (Texas USA) their system shows the same message initiated at 3:21 pm. Texas is 7 hours behind Florence and thus if the Booking rep would have understood time zones will see that adding up 7 hours to my time will be exactly 10:21 pm Florence time and adding one more hour for the Cairo time zone would be 11:21 pm. Unfortunately, Booking.com did not help either. Be careful with this property They are unprofessional and will rip you off.

You meet the lovely host in a location and will then walk to your apartment. Apartment 4 involves walking up 4 storeys up with your 25 kg bag ! Good luck before the light goes out ! The wifi was terrible and useless. The shower a trickle of water. The rooms clean but power outlets loosely fit the adaptors, tiles lifting. The 6 bdr apartment (their best apt) stunk of sewer as the shower recess blocked. The heaters do not adequately warm up the rooms. Rooms beautiful but not functional.
The Pros: Very cute apartment in a historic building. Location is perfect. Our apartment #4 had a small rooftop terrace with view of the top of the the nearby Duomo. We loved hearing the church bells. Our hostess Patrizia was very accommodating during check in and check out. no issues with communication. We stayed in December and heating was good. For me the bed very comfortable but my partner felt mattress a bit too firm. The cons: You’ve read about the stairs. About 75 very steep steps to access the #4 apartment on top floor. Wi-Fi is very spotty and weak. Cell signal isn’t great either. The shower is tiny, and very large people may not fit in it. But worse than this, the complaints about the shower either being scalding hot or freezing cold are accurate. Maybe an issue with the faucet in the shower not capable of mixing the hot and cold water lines (but I am not a plumber lol). This is why I can not leave higher than a 3 star rating. It is important to have a decent shower. They do have a bidet.
My fiancé and I really enjoyed our stay here. The view from our top floor apartment is well worth the stairs. The apartment allowed us a glimpse into everyday Florentine life. Would definitely stay here again.
When getting to Yome you have to wait for someone to walk to the place to let you in. Then you get to walk up ALOT of steep stairs and hope you can carry your heavy luggage up all those stairs without falling. I get that there isn't an elevator because the building is old. Just a warning to those who don't only bring a carry on or pack for a short stay.(In my opinion, I don't think you can carry your luggage up if you packed for a 9 day trip like my family) It really sucks that there is not someone on site to contact if there are any issues. When my family got there, we wanted to take showers after traveling for 14 hours but we couldn’t unless we wanted to take ice cold showers. We tried multiple times to contact the owner to try to get help but there was no replies until the next day around 10 or 11. Also good luck trying to sleep at all, there was noise on the street below until 4AM and trust me you can hear every word they are saying. When you look at the gallery of pictures you think this place is super nice... WRONG. The pictures are very deceiving. Overall the experience was not good and not worth it. I’d rather have a nice peaceful sleep and a hot warm shower and walking an extra 5 minutes to a WAY BETTER and the same price bed and breakfast.
