Villa Tolomei Hotel & Resort

My wife and I stayed at Villa Tolomei Hotel and Resort for several days in mid-August, 2026. The staff was wonderful! Very helpful! Breakfast was great, and I could easily relax on the grounds, such as at the pool area. And the view was spectacular! Our room was clean and very comfortable. All things considered, our stay at the villa was a very positive, memorable experience.

Great place to relax for a few days and the perfect hangout to visit Florence. Good rooms although the airco battles heavily with the extreme temperatures outside .. Good breakfast, really helpful and professional staff. Small but well equipped gym. Great clean pool with good parasols and beds. Lunch and dinner are good as well. We would love to come back! 🥂(This original 5 star review was posted 19 hrs for departure) Unfortunately we left with mixed feelings. On our last morning we were insulted by pool boy ‘Guilberto’ who with shameless sarcasm and pleasure told us the pool was closed for a private event that day. He also mentioned that we were not informed because “we had paid till today and had to leave before 11.30 hrs anyway “ This guy (fortunately we had not seen him all week) broke down in two minutes what his colleagues carefully built up in almost one week.. His choice to start working in the hospitality business is the worst ever. Besides that in my opinion is it an absolute NO GO to shut down your pool, terrace and restaurant for your regular hotel guests on the first Sunday in August (36*C) when your hotel is fully booked with families. Where do you think they should go to that day ? Florence in almost 45*C ?? We were leaving anyway but the guests (with kids) we spoke to felt simply abandoned by the hotel management. The offered ‘compensation’ of a bottle of wine felt like an insult and nothing but disrespect. By checking out we would have loved to bring our tips over to the hotel management as suggested by the staff we spoke to. Unfortunately she was not there at moment but we were promised that she would call us within a few hours.. Yeah right Does this make Villa Tolomei to avoid in the future ? I think No. It remains a fine place with hard working staff. Before you confirm your booking make sure you get the following written confirmations: 1. The airco in your room is working properly. 2. Acces to the pool and terrace is granted during your whole stay. 3. Guilberto has found another job.

Enjoyed a lovely welcome on arrival. All staff were lovely. Accomodation was very pleasant. Surrounding vinyards and olives beautiful. The shuttle into town was a lovely touch. Pool and breakfast excellent. Dinner terrace had lovely views. Would recommend as a quiet upmarket retreat.

Hotel is old and functioning well, the fixtures are their weakest feature. Example the shower handles do not work well and are cheap broken plastic with molding around the edge of the tub. This is not what we expected. The rest of the hotel is fantastic. The service is fantastic. The Owners need to invest into quality fixtures.
