Not sure about the many negative reviews, but we found our stay at Palazzo dei Ciompi more than adequate. The elevator worked the whole time. The room was clean, suitable for our needs and met all of our expectations. We found the location to be walking distance to all the main attractions. Would stay again if ever in Florence again
This is the worst experience at a "hotel" I've ever had in my life. The room was up 4 flights of stairs, and the elevator was "out"; the wifi never worked, and it was dingy. But all that aside, the AC was not working, and we were there during the heatwave in June. Our room was over 90 degrees, and all they gave us was a fan. It was the worst night of sleep ever! Furthermore, they would not let us get out of our "2-day minimum stay" even though they failed to provide what was advertised (A/C, wifi, breakfast, etc.). I HIGHLY recommend you stay anywhere but here when visiting Florence.
Stayed here for one night. The elevator didn’t work the whole time we were there. Our room didn’t really look like the pictures, it smelled bad and it was dirty. I found hair and stains on the couch and chairs, everything was also in leather which made me feel like they don’t clean them often. The floor was dirty and the same as in the hallways, felt like they were renovating and hadn’t put in real floor in the rooms yet. The AC didn’t work well either and it was 40 degrees outside when we were there so you couldn’t sleep. Do not recommend this place, maybe if you’re on a budget and do absolutely not care about comfort, quality or cleanness!
Location is great. The room initially looks extremely impressive but there's a few minuses: for the double bed you got two single beds put together - and yes, that means two separate mattresses - I guess it's OK if you're about to divorce. Also there's no way to actually set the temperature in the room - it's either full blown AC and freezing or hot. The shower drain is not great and you don't have any designated space to place your shower gel or shampoo. Basically no major complaints, but for the price it's not worth it.
Great location and a huge balcony which was a lovely bonus during our stay. However, the accommodation was not the cleanest and the air conditioning felt very outdated, making the apartment uncomfortably warm at times. The furniture on the balcony was also old and uncomfortable. We were also talk to take our own trash out at the end of the stay, which felt frustrating considering the price of the accommodation. Overall, it was an okay stay but there is definitely room for improvement.
