The hotel was nice and inviting. Breakfast was also good. The bar attendant in the outdoor seating area was outrageously rude. Later this night and after walking around the city, my friends and I came back tired and decided to sit around in the outdoor area to watch the world cup soccer game on the bar TV. He came to us and told us we couldn't be there unless we bought something to eat or to drink. We were so embarrassed because he asked us to leave in front of other people. When I went up to him to buy water for the minors in our trip, he arrogantly and with disdain told me to go inside to the lobby and ask for it. He was extremely rude! Although the hotel and services were good, this person should not work there especially when you have to deal with tourists from other countries like us! We were traveling from USA!!

The room product is tired, cleanliness is poor, the a/c cannot be controlled from the room and I had always to go down to ask to activate or stop it because my phone did not work the entire week. Also, the a/c is very noisy and it was disruptive even when I was awake and wearing noise cancelling headphones. The breakfast room is disappointing and the quality of food not satisfying. The carpet on the corridors is worn and does not seam clean which is not helping the overall impression. The only positive note is the smiling and apologetic staff. I stayed five nights for business and the hotel experience made my week extremely hard. A hotel is supposed to guarantee relaxation and good sleep, which was far from being the case. On a positive note,
I would not stay at Hotel San Gallo Palace again. Our stay was pleasant until the final day, when an irreplaceable personal item that I have owned for approximately 25 years disappeared from our room after housekeeping service. This was not a valuable item that would normally be placed in a hotel safe, but it has enormous sentimental value and cannot be replaced. What disappointed me most was not just the missing item, but how the situation was handled by hotel management and staff. The evening the item was reported missing, I was told I would receive an update by 8:00 AM the next morning. No one contacted me. At 9:00 AM, I had to go to the front desk myself, where it became clear that housekeeping had not yet been contacted to investigate. After another hour with no update, I returned to the desk again and staff contacted housekeeping a second time. Roughly another hour later, I was told they could not find the item. As we were checking out, I offered to leave my contact information in case the item was later located. Surprisingly, staff initially did not seem interested in taking my information because they believed the search was complete. Only after I insisted did they agree to take my details and mention that they would contact their laundry provider. In my opinion, checking with the laundry company should have been one of the first steps taken, not something brought up only after a guest was already leaving the property. Losing a sentimental item is upsetting. Feeling that the investigation lacked urgency, communication, and thoroughness made the experience significantly worse. If you are traveling with anything that has sentimental value, I would strongly recommend exercising extreme caution. Based on my experience, I left feeling that guest concerns regarding lost property were not handled with the level of attention, communication, or customer service I would expect from a hotel in this category.
As New Yorkers, we can be pretty particular when it comes to hotels, service, food, and cleanliness — and this place exceeded our expectations in every way. The hotel was spotless, beautifully maintained, and the food was absolutely wonderful. One of our favorite parts was the outdoor sitting area…a peaceful little garden oasis tucked right in the middle of the city. It truly felt special after a day exploring Florence. And a very special thank you to Thomas at the front concierge desk. Thomas welcomes you like family from the moment you arrive. Professional, warm, helpful, and genuinely kind — hospitality at its finest. How does it get any better than that while visiting beautiful Florence? Thank you, Thomas, from your friends in New York City - Westchester County — The Crawford Family.
Unfortunately not happy with our stay, the staff were kind and accommodating, the breakfast was lovely and location of the hotel perfect, but the room was not great. I specifically booked the room because it has a bath and air con, even if it’s not very hot for the Italians us British can find 25 degrees hot and want some cool air. Went to have a bath and discovered no bath taps and no plug. Reception gave us a plug but bath had to be filled up from shower head. Then the air con- asked reception if they could turn air con down- aka make it cooler as the room was sitting at 24 degrees. They turned it off, then when we asked for it back on they said they can’t make it cool as the air con was not working- you should not advertise having AC if you don’t. Was given a fan which barely blew any air and ended up being moved rooms as the light inside the room by the entrance wouldn’t switch off. Then the new room still hot and uncomfortable, very loud ‘air con’ (ventilation) which sounds like a car being started as well as the barely useful fan. I have a video of how incredibly loud this is but unable to upload to this review. Couldn’t sleep with the window open due to loud street noise. After being up since 4am and wanting a good nights rest, we didn’t get to sleep until after midnight, it really did put a downer on our short trip as we was tired and unrested. If you don’t want to sleep in 25+ degree heat avoid!!
