We had an absolutely fantastic tour, combining a visit to a reindeer farm with a wonderful snowshoeing experience. Everything was perfectly organized and exceeded our expectations. Our guide Pikka was local and passionate, which made a big difference. She shared a wealth of knowledge about the region, the reindeer, and traditional Lappish culture and way of life. It was both fascinating and enriching to learn directly from someone so connected to the environment. The visit to the reindeer farm was a highlight—getting up close to the animals in such an authentic setting was very special. The snowshoeing portion was equally enjoyable, with beautiful scenery and a peaceful atmosphere throughout. We also had the chance to eat in a traditional kota, which was a unique and memorable experience. The setting was warm and authentic, and it added a special cultural touch to the day. Overall, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Levi area.

My wife and I had a lovely time with Soma for a reindeer and snowshoe experience! Communications were excellent pre- trip. Wonderful hands on experience at a reindeer farm followed up by a snowshoe experience across a frozen lake and in the woods, finishing up with some homemade desserts by the fire at the family cottage on the lake. Truly unique activities with a welcoming guide that was a lot of fun. Highly recommend!!
Our Reindeer and Snowshoeing experience with SOMA Adventures was truly a highlight of our Lapland adventures! From the moment we were picked up, Heli and Pikka gave us a warm welcome and shared stories on the scenic ride to the experience. The property is absolutely stunning and surrounded by untouched nature. The reindeer experience was genuine and intimate. They were gentle and exciting to feed, and we’ll never forget leading two male reindeer, Snooze and Blueberry. They sweetly rubbed their heads and antlers against us, creating such a special and heartwarming connection. We snowshoed across a frozen lake and into serene, peaceful woods while other visitors tried ice fishing nearby. The stillness of the woods and the vast white landscape made the entire experience feel magical and pure. After our outdoor adventure, we warmed up in the cozy “lodge” and enjoyed delicious vegan soup. As if the day couldn’t get any better, it ended with a surprise snowmobile sleigh ride across the lake! This experience was authentic, peaceful, and incredibly special. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lapland — it’s something you’ll carry with you long after you leave.
This tour was a blast and we can strongly recommend it to anyone who’s interested in getting to know the wonderful authentic Lapland. Heli is super friendly and we learned so many interesting facts about reindeers and the local surroundings where she grew up herself. After visiting the reindeer farm (where you can feel that the reindeers are at home and not considered as a tourist attraction), we went to her place to warm up and drank some hot juice before going snow walking across the lake to a beautiful forest. Afterwards Heli prepared an amazing treat for us including selfmade cake, hot chocolate and a small BBQ, again at her place where everything is super cozy and we felt at home even though being abroad. Thank you so much Heli, we‘ll keep this day in our hearts <3 Sven & Franzi from Hamburg, Germany
This excursion is truly a must-do. The guide’s hospitality genuinely makes you feel welcome. They are incredibly kind and answer every question you have. The pick-up and drop-off service is perfectly arranged. Don’t hesitate — book this excursion!
We booked this tour very last minute and were grateful that it was accepted. We had a lovely time with Tuikku, who deserves more than 5 stars! She was very well organized and answered all of our questions. There was a very friendly atmosphere and you can feel that the company makes an effort to create this kind of experience. The visit to the reindeer farm did feel a bit rushed but as we had already had another reindeer farm visit on a previous trip to Finland, this was not a big issue for us. Snowshoeing on the frozen lake and in the snowy forest was great. Grilling sausages in the warm cabin and enjoying some warm berry juice and home-made pastry was the perfect ending to a lovely day.
An absolutely top experience with Soma Adventure. A truly authentic activity connected to reindeer herding, far from the usual tourist attractions — here you really get in touch with nature, the animals and the local culture. Everything is organized with great care and passion. A special thank you to Hely, outstanding in every way: professional, attentive, engaging and always available. She truly made the difference and turned this into an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something genuine and special.
A huge thank you to our guides Pikka and Tuikku, they were both so nice and have taken many beautiful pictures for us. We have enjoyed so much this tour. Really amazing visiting the arctic reindeer farm and snowshoeing in the wild. We highly recommend this company and this activity.
This experience was by far the best of our trip in Lapland. There were 5 of us (hubby, wife, 2 adult kids and 1 partner) and we were picked up by our guide Pikka and taken to her neighbour's reindeer farm where we hand fed the deer and lead them around for a short walk. There was plenty of time for happy snaps as we learned about deer herding and life in Lapland generally. We then drove to a cosy cabin next door had hot drinks and warmed up by the fire. The snow shoe experience takes you across a frozen lake into a forest, truly surreal and magical experience. Pikka gave us lots of information about the forest and let us find our way back to the cabin giving us time alone in the wilderness. We never felt rushed and back at the cabin we had a sausage cooked over the fire and ate a delicious home made dessert by Heli. Overall this felt truly authentic and I can't recommend highly enough.
This is an experience me and my husband will never forget. It was so personal and unique when compared to major tourist tours. We met some reindeer on a working reindeer farm and got to feed them. Then we went to the hosts own property where we did snow shoeing across a frozen lake. We then cooked sausages and had home made cake. We were made to feel like part of the family and had a bonus snowmobile experience before being taken back to our hotel. The guide was so knowledgeable and lived in the area all her life so was able to share her experience, culture and knowledge. Overall a fantastic trip and one we definitely recommend.
The only reason I’m giving Heli and Soma Adventures 5 stars is because I can’t give them 10 stars! Our time with Heli was the highlight of an amazing trip to Lapland’s. As a family, we live more authentic experiences and this fit that perfectly! Driving with Heli out to her property was great, as she told us all about growing up and living around Levi. Then she took us to her neighbor’s reindeer farm where we walked freely amongst, fed and walked hundreds of reindeer. She told us all about what life was like for a reindeer farmer and answered all of our questions. She then took us to her cabin by the most gorgeous lake I’ve ever seen. Looking right was sunrise and left was sunset. I’ve never seen anything like it! We snoeshowed across the lake and into the forest where we played and took a billion pictures while she went back to the cabin to prepare a fire and a snack for us (sausages, marshmallows, delicious homemade apple pie, hot chocolate and hot berry drinks). We warmed by the fire talking about our experience before she drove us back. She invited us to drive back to the lake at night to see the northern lights if we wanted, and we did, seeing the most spectacular show! If I had to say something negative, it would be that none of our other experiences could live up to our wonderful time with Heli! Reach out to Soma Adventures and Heli to book an amazing experience!
Small group experience with a special thanks to guide Ellen. We enjoyed visiting the farm and the walk on the lake and through the woods
It’s such a unique excursion. Truly local, and lovely to do. The farm is a cute experience with feeding the reindeer. The snowshoe walking is not for people with no condition. It is really very hard. But afterwards you’re greeted in their home for a nice hotdrink. So conclusion: book this if you want to avoid mass tourism and experience the real Lapland.
One of our favorite days in Lapland! We enjoyed meeting Heli, who is so kind and wants you to really enjoy every part of the experience. We went snowshoeing, sat by the fire, went to a remote reindeer farm supporting the local family of this region, and had a wonderful afternoon enjoying warm drinks and treats. It was a great experience to enjoy the beauty and calm serenity of Lapland. I really appreciated how it’s not commercialized and it is in the small region of Lompolo. Meeting the reindeer and getting to feed them was such a fun time for me. My husband and I enjoyed our time so much! Thank you for being a wonderful host and letting us experience true Lapland winter. I can’t wait to go back one day.
An awesome experience. Our guide, Pikka, was fantastic. She expleined to us everything about reindeer farms. Then She guided trough an icy lake snowshoeing and after that we restored in a typical Lappish refuge.
I liked it very much to visit the reindeer farm, especially I did love the personal and authentic atmosphere of this excursion in a small group. Also the scenery on the drive through the winter forest was amazing. And the Mökki was very cosy to warm up.
We could not possibly have had a more incredible time with Heli. She is one of the people in the world who has truly found what they are meant to be doing: serving as a capable educator, the consummate hostess, and a fantastic ambassador for Lapland and Finland. We were able to pepper her with questions and receive thoughtful answers to each one. We had a much more up-close, intimate, educational experience with her reindeer than we could have imagined. Our time spent snowshoeing in the wilderness was serene, beautiful, and spectacular. An overarching theme that we appreciated: Heli offered the perfect mix of hands-on engagement and hands-off “go do your thing” encouragement. We were free to interact with her reindeer as we saw fit, rather than lining up for staged photo ops. We were set free to snowshoe around her beautiful neck of the woods and explore to our hearts content, rather than trekking single file behind her. But at the same time, she opened her home so graciously to us; taught us so much about her life, her region, and her country; and made us feel so welcome – not like an annoyance (which some tour guides in Lapland do!). Heli has found her calling. I can’t recommend a day with her and her reindeer highly enough.
A true local experience in Lapland. Heli generously brought us to her home turf where we visited her neighbor’s reindeer farm and were able to stroll among the reindeer while feeding and petting them. Met the local reindeer farmers/herders and learned about life in Lapland. Afterwards we went next door to Heli’s family cabin and snowshoed on the lake and in the forests before enjoying some fireside treats that she prepared for us. DELIGHTFUL!! Highly recommend this A+ experience.
One of the most fun trips we had with a tour operator. Thanks to Heli and Tolma. Heli was exceptional in handling our booking. She was flexible and was able to adjust our group size accordingly since I booked the tour a while ago. In the end, we ended up with 13 pax. The reindeer farm tour was quite interesting and well organised whole the snowshoeing was exceptionally fun ! We ended the tour with a nice bbq lunch ! We also had a nice short ride round the frozen lake in a sled pulled by a snowmobile ! Overall, we had an amazing day out !
We were recommended to do a tour with Heli by friends and it was worth every penny. Driving outisde of the touristic Levi really madr a difference to feel more connected to Finnish Lappland's wilderness. The Soma team showed us the reindeer farm, prepared a snack in their hut and led us on a snowshoe trip. An unforgettable experience!
Today we had a visit to the reindeer farm and a snowshoe walk. It was great! It was so peaceful and authentic. Heli was super nice and told a lot about the culture and the area. We regret that we did not book other excursions with her during our holiday, because it was really cool and not touristy at all. She also took nice pictures, which we received afterwards. Thanks again for this fun afternoon!💜
It was a nice tour with authentic and passionate tour guide Heli. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough snow for the snow shoes, but Heli fills the time with great activities. We had the opportunity to visit a reindeer farm with two very nice girls, walk on a frozen lake and afterwards Heli made a campfire with some yummy pancakes and sausages in her cozy little cabin. All in all it was a very great and personal experience I can only recommend:)
Went out to the reindeer farm and had a blast with the new reindeer and feeding them was an incredible experience. Got to walk a reindeer around by a lead and try our luck at lassoing. Wife got it on the first try. The snowshoe hike was great. Far more physical than it appears. Followed that up with some hot drink and sausages. We had a great time.
The best experience I have ever had, not a commercial tour but a real experience. Love the way they create these experiences, so natural Really really suggested
Amazing! Thank you Heli for making our experience in Lapland wonderful. If you want to get away from mass tourism and get to know local culture, I really recommend it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This Sami deer farm is authentic. Heli accompanied us excellently and explained everything in detail about the life of reindeer. Later we were driven to a cabin on the frozen lake. With the snowshoes we went across the lake into the deep snowy forest and back across the lake to the hut. Heil had prepared a soup with homemade bread. Also a dessert (cake) was served to us. Heli is so warm, it was a wonderful day. This promotion we had booked through Kerstin von Jokimaja (Köngäs). Anytime again. Highly recommended.
Exceptional!!! We had an extraordinary time! The setting is splendid, the welcome great (we eat very well!!). A moment out of time! Thank you!
Beautiful experience! We were allowed to feed and pet the reindeer, then we went on a great snowshoe hike through the wintry wilderness. To warm up, there were sausages by the fire in the cozy hut of the guide – warm, authentic and highly recommended!
It goes about 35km north up to Lake Suksijarvi, where we first visit a real reindeer farm. Pikka and Tuikku, both come from the area and grew up here, so we get really authentic first-hand information about life here in the far north. Around 700 reindeer winter on the farm, which are counted, marked and cared for here. The owner proudly leads us to one of the enclosures where we are allowed to feed and show around a large number of the majestic animals. The animals receive Likka, a type of moss that must be collected by hand in October of the previous year in large quantities for the winter in the surrounding forests, a strenuous and important work of reindeer keepers. From here, it is only a short distance further to a small hut in the middle of the wilderness on the shore of a frozen lake. First we warm up a bit and then we also go snowshoeing over the lake and then through the forest on the other side to a hill where Pikka tells us exciting things about nature and life in the wilderness. Finally we head back to the hut, where the fireplace is already heated and local sausages, drinks and pastries are waiting for us. This interesting excursion is definitely highly recommended!
In the week before Christmas 2025 a great well-groomed day experienced with my family in Lompolo, organized by Heli. What a cozy, enthusiastic fun woman is Heli, she had so much to tell us about authentic life in Finnish Lapland. Visited her family’s reindeer farm, where we were allowed to feed the reindeer, pet them and there was plenty of time to take pictures. Then in the cottage spoiled with various delicacies. Once warmed up, we went outside to take a snowshoe walk across the frozen lake to and through the woods. This day was so pure, really a gift!
beautiful discovery of a real reindeer farm with Helli, who turns out to be a friendly, funny and attentive guide. little snowshoe ride without much difficulty in autonomy and a little comfort in a typical little kota with everything you need to regain strength. a little surprise at the end. thank you for this pleasant moment
This is a unique and authentic experience with a lot of variety, ideal for families with larger children from the age of 13. The scenery is breath-taking. The host was very cordial and provided lots of tasty snacks by a crackling fire. The typical berry juice could not be missed either. We really enjoyed this experience.
A unique, authentic experience, passionately organized by the creator of SOMA Adventures, a true local (which is rare). 100% nature. Good balance between farm visit, proximity to the Rennes, explanation of the local flora and fauna, a friendly time by the fire, and a snowshoeing trip. The half hour journey is well worth it compared to some packages. We recommend and will definitely go back if we had a second chance in Finland.
The tour with Heli was just incredible and our absolute highlight in Finland. After visiting the reindeer farm, we were provided with delicious drinks and snacks in Helis Hütte am See. Afterwards we did a snowshoe hike across the lake and into the forest. Heli told us a lot about Lapland, the culture and the animals. The tour is truly unique and takes place in small groups, away from mass tourism. Thanks again for this great and authentic experience!
We were welcomed in a friendly and family friendly cocoon. Heli was an extremely nice and considerate host in making us feel like privileged.
What an experience! in a small group (max 4 persons) the activity done. The entire excursion was very personal. No major mass of people but a real insight into the lapland life. Our visit to the Reindeer farm was quite an experience. Many received an explanation of the work and the love the reindeer. Afterwards in the cottage a hot drink and wOrsttjes got over the fire and us warmed up. the walk with the snowshoes was a fun experience I saw a lot of wildlife tracks and got an explanation of the vegetation we walked through. you really want an authentic lapland experience I'd get it from this provider. reservation.
