Volubilis, Moulay Idriss And Meknes Day Trip From Fez With Guide

Great trip to Volubilis but note they don't provide the tour through the ruins just drop off. The tour Meknes was wonderful and very informative. The visits in between were short and mostly for views.

This trip was wonderful value for your money, we had plenty of time in Volubilis as well as Meknes. Our driver and tour guide Omar and Hassan were very friendly and pleasant to talk to. We would definitely recommend to others.

Although the driver drove well, was informative and spoke great English, I have to give this tour a 2 star rating for the following reasons: 1. The tour includes stops to Moulay Idriss and Dar Jamai Museum however, we were never taken there. The driver pointed to Moulay Idriss from a highway and we never stopped. 2. In Meknes, the guide never took us to Dar Jami Museum. When we asked he said we should have asked at the beginning of the tour since the Museum was closing in 15 minutes. However this was supposed to be part of the tour experience that we paid for despite having to pay an entrance fee. 3. In addition, the tour guide was really sweet and did the absolute best; however, his English could not be understood well, and we all really struggled to understand him. He kept apologizing. I believe he said he spoke better French than English; however we were an English speaking tour group. He did a great job getting us through the Medina and speaking his little heart out but we missed a lot of the message due to his difficulty in speaking. The positives are the driver and the tour guide were quite pleasant, Volubilis was breath taking and Meknes was a nice laid back experience compared to Fes and Marrakech.

Our driver was excellent. Very good conversation and informative. The guide at Volubilis was good the restaurant specialty Berbier pizza was very good. Our guide through the medina was difficult to hear but the sites were wonderful.

These three sites, especially Volubilis and Meknes are must sees for any trip to Morocco. The Roman ruins at Volubilis were expansive and well excavated. It would have been helpful to have a brochure so we could identify the different sites as we walked, but they do have local guides. The guide in Meknes was absolutely superb. Fluent in both French and English, he described the history of the city and the importance of each site we visited. There was also a Spanish translator for the Spanish speakers. Lunch at a local restaurant in Meknes was terrific. All in all, a fabulous experience. It is important to note that there is a lot of walking on this tour, so those who can't manage 3 hours plus a gentle climb at the ruins may have difficulty.

The trip was good, and the driver was efficient and good. I felt the time given in Volubilis was too short and would like to have more time there than inMenke's Medina or at lunch. The restaurant chosen by the tour company was OK, nothing special. The tour in the Medina was fine, the guide was very good and did not take us to any tourist trap.

It was a tour for group of people, but there was only me and my friend, and a driver-guide Hassan, of course, and also was a local guide in Meknes. We are not native speakers, but Hasan explained clearly, answered for all our questions about Marocco, it was very interested to discuss different themes. He also helped us with changing money and decided the problem with other excursion. Thanks a lot! In Volubilis you can pay only by cash - 100 DH/person. For lunch we were brought in restaurant with comlex lunch, traditional food - 150 DH/person. In Meknes we went through the smallest part of medina and entered inside the mosque. Nice day

Mohcine was our driver and he was so good! We got a private car and he was so nice and helpful. He tailored the tour to our needs and even let us play nice songs in the car and we had a lot of fun! His car was really nice and spacious as well. Would 10/10 recommend this tour.

Hassan is a very good guide, he was explaining and showing the main attractions. He was very gentle, clear, and helpful.

The tour was with a small group of people - always on time, no waiting, clear explanations and schedule. The driver was very attentive and tried to accommodate the wishes of the group members.

Brilliant trip!! Even though it rained heavily throughout, Volubilis looked stunning, beyond expectation, and the drivers were very knowledgeable and friendly. Our guide in Meknes, Rasheed, was very well spoken and a fountain of knowledge - the best guide we’ve ever had anywhere. A great day all round and would highly recommend 😉

Nice way to easily get from one beautiful site to the next. Not many explanations by the (fun) guides though, Volubilis and Meknes would deserve a guided tour

Tour was great! Our hotel signed us up and we had minimal expectations but totally was worth our money as we stopped at important sights near Meknes

My driver Hassan was just lovely, kind, interesting, and intelligent. He switched languages seemlessly to offer a good perspective on all I saw with the small group, and he even lent me his hat as I'd lost mine the previous day. Volibius was just exceptional and my absolute highlight.

Easyeasy and pleasant journey, in a comfortable van, through a beautiful and unexpected green countryside. essential guided tour to not get lost in the alley and to appreciate the Roman ruins. stages of the right length to appreciate without waiting or rushing. driver able to speak several languages, kind, safe and careful in driving.

It was very average overall. Edris the guide inside the bus, claimed to know everything and everywhere but instead of giving information about the city, and country was joking with people! Mecknes was an average place to visit. It was not worth it. But the Roman ruins was interesting, however the guide was so bad. He was walking and talking so fast and everyone else should catch him and get close to him so we could hear him. He was in rush.

A great, well-organized experience! We had a friendly and knowledgeable driver who was accommodating to language needs of our group (from four different countries). The day was very well planned and incorporated fantastic local tour guides for Volubilis and Meknes. We had some alterations for Ramadan but felt like we still had a thorough experience.

We had a great day trip to Volubilis and Meknes. Along the way there were 2 additional short stops for panoramic views of the area and 1 stop in Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. We got the non-guided option for the day and that worked well for us. We had 1 hour and 15 minutes to explore the Volubilis. The site is quite big so it was enough time to explore and see all the main sites, but could have walked around more. In Meknes, we had 3 hours to explore. We found our own lunch spot in town and then walked through the Medina. We had researched ahead of time what parts of the Medina we were interested in. After that we visited the Dar Jamai Museum. The museum showcases music and instruments from the various regions of Morocco. It was in a beautiful building and the exhibits were very well done. After that we rejoined the main group and were able to explore the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail before heading back to Fes. The driver was very nice and gave additional facts as he drove in both French and English. The bus was comfortable, but got a little hot in the afternoon. We were gone from 9:20 - 19:00 so it was a very full day.

We were a bit disapointed by this tour. the driver was lovely and knowlegable pointing out interesting things as he drove. The tour was for both french and english speaking people and the tour guides at both Volubilis and Mekness had so explain everything in both languages and were more interested in speaking french than english. People would ask questions in french and he would only explan in french. The other issue was not getting lunch until around 4pm. The guide in Mekness took us to a restauraunt that only served hald the menu and it took us 1.5hour to get our food. Esentially if you are english only i wouldnt bother paying extra for the tour guides.

We had a great experience on the tour! The van was very comfortable and we were able to visit several sites which were rich in history really easily and conveniently. The tour was reasonably priced too. Baha and Abdou, our tour guides, were friendly, helpful and informative! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visit these areas :)

Dris was on time, helpful, funny and proactive. He provided us with guides in both Volubilis and Meknès and advised us on a good and affordable place to eat lunch. His van is comfortable and the panoramic spots where he took us were incredible. Definitely worth your time if you are in Fes!

Abdul is an extremely kind and good hearted man he was our driver from Fes, Volubilis To Meknes Passing by Moulay idriss We felt very safe with him the van was clean and comfortable and we couldn't wish for a better service he s an expert in navigation that s what i most appreciated. It should be noted his patience his driving skills and extensive knowledge of the country He is very nice, friendly and a good guide with a deep knowledge of culture . I highly recommend him.

The travel was amazing. We are really Happy with this experience. One of the best things are the workers. The two drivers (Moha and Zakaria) was really really really nice friendlly, profesional and carefully with us. They make de travel very comfortable. Also the workers in the Camp was really profesional, Make very special night and they make a very nice feelling. I Will come back soon.

We had great time in the desert! It was an amazing experience! A life experience! Our guides Moho and Zaccaria were always very kind, friendly and helpful! We visited many different places along the path and we had in the desert all the comforts we could need! It was really memorable trip! I absolutely suggest you this tour! Volubilis is the highlight of this trip - you can really picture the way the city used to be. Our guide there was knowledgeable but rushed us through the sites to avoid the big tour groups so we didn't quite enjoy it as much. Moulay Idris is a quaint little town but unfortunately the shrine is only open to Muslims - not worth going if you're not going to be allowed inside. Our tour was on a Friday so most of the shops in the Meknes medina were closed therefore not much to see. However, to make it more than a lunch stop it might be worth taking the horse and carriage tour as there are a few interesting sights to see. Our driver, Hasan, was patient and polite. We would recommend him to anyone using this tour company!

<p>It's worth seeing the three cities together rather than just picking one or two. They are close enough together that the drive isn't painful. Volubilis is for those interested in seeing ruins, it is remarkable to imagine the city as it was. Our guide, unfortunately, while informative, was not the most enthusiastic, and that dulled our spirits a little bit. His accent and speech weren't all that clear and as he was trying to avoid the crowds, the whole thing felt rushed. Moulay Idriss is a powerful experience but non-Muslims aren't allowed in the shrine so that might be a bummer for some. For Meknes, it would be best to avoid Fridays since most things are closed, and maybe consider taking a horse and carriage tour to make more of it than just a lunch stop.</p>

We really enjoyed our day with Mostafa. The drives from place to place were not rushed and we were able to enjoy conversation and Mostafa sharing about the history, life and culture of the areas we were seeing. Our favorite was Volubilis, and lunch in Moulay Idriss. In Volubilis and in Meknes we had time on our own, apart from Mostafa, so he also provided us with a phone to be able to call when we’re ready to meet him. Mostafa also went above and beyond, making sure we had seen important sites in Fes and giving us advice for our travels the next day.

Interesting program, well explained and the guide was nice. We have free time to visit the medina of Meknes as well as an hour in Volubilis.
