We will begin Fes guided tour by discovering the old Medina and its narrow streets , where we will explore the ancient architecture.
Then we will continue our adventure towards one of the oldest Universities in Africa, called " Al Quaraouin" which was founded in 859. Access to the inside of the mosques is not possible for no Muslims, customers can have a peep from the two main doors and take plenty of photos.
Another ancient historical place is Madrassa El Bou Inania which express the beauty of the Marinid architecture. The customers can get inside the medersa bouinania through the maincourtyard, and the small leftsideroom taking photos and listening to the information.access to the mosque and rooms is not allowed
Our next stop in our Fes excursion will be the Najjarine fountain. A pause at the nejjarine square to admire the beauty of is fantastic fountain,a visit to the wood market to enjoy the craft and wood aroma, and a visit to the museum(not obligatory) with its three stories( no photos of the exhibited items)
Fes is called the capital of handicraft and the most stunning of that is the tannening of skins of animals in order to produce a higher quantity of leather stuff.a visit to the chouara tannery from one of the neighbouring terraces will enable u to admire a feel the process of leather production. We will proceed to explore the Chouara Tannery, where the leather is cleaned and dyed, to be sold to the leather craftsman. We will take a lunch break at a local restaurant, to taste the delicious flavoured Moroccan dishes.
In the afternoon we will begin again the Fes guided tour with Bad Boujloud or what is called the blue gate, This gate is stunning with the combination of the blue and green traditional tiles. A pause at the bab boujloud or blue gate is like the introductory key to our visit to the medina.visitors will admire the blue colour of the tiles from the outside referring to the city and get informacity, another pause from the inside will enable them to see the green colour of the tile which is the colour of Islam, and that will the beginning of the journey

Salim took us to many places listed as top things to see in Fes. And 2 tanneries. He was very knowledgeable
Salim was very polite and knowledgeable of Morrocco. He took us places we likely would not have been on our own. There was no pressure to buy things. Our Tour had 12 people, with 3 languages spoken. While Salim did an impressive job of shifting between 3 languages, the need to do so made this Tour very slow, hard to follow at times and what we covered could have been accomplished in a fraction of the time. The description of this Tour did list the 3 languages but I assumed there would be different groups based on language. I have never purchased a Tour on viator that was done this way and if I knew this, I would not have purchased and looked for a private guide.
We hired his services because of the mention that he is a Portuguese speaker but we really regret. He charged us 30€ more just to share one information (where to see 🐪 in Fès - it's called Obripark if you want to go without paying for the info. 1 hour tour with the 🐪 20€). He knows the historical places, this is true. We weren't interested in shopping and we informed when starting the tour, but he continued going on their associate shops and he really got angry when we didn't buy anything, calling us cheapskate in arabic thinking that I was not able to understand. As he was not available on the first day that we arrived, we walked alone and we already bought stuff, so we knew the overall prices and his shops are not the best. Not sure if he's an official guide as we never see his id (the official guides have their id in a lane easy view all the time). Must be patient to enjoy the tour.
Salim is very knowledgeable about Fes and it's every corner and he showed us a bit of everything. Had a really nice morning.
I couldn’t fault our tour with Salim, he was so well educated and I felt thoroughly taught after our morning with him! Salim seemed to be a well known and was a very honest any witty 😂❤️ he was more than accommodating to our needs and spoke very good English for us, I loved the fact he shared his personal life with us too felt like we got to known him slightly and not to mention his vast knowledge of football btw!! He is a gem of a man an definitely gave a fantastic tour, although we did the half tour it was definitely more than enough for me as the whole madina experience was slightly over whelming due to how crowded and busy it was! I did enjoy trying some street food and Salim also treated jim to a Moroccan coffee! We had a delightful morning with Salim I couldn’t recommend a more passionate person to give a tour of the medina ❤️
Couldn’t have asked for a better guide.Salim described both the cultural and the scenic side of Fez Madina. Our first visit to Morocco and some of the reports made us feel quite nervous. By doing the tour with Salom our nerves were settled and we became much more confident and more educated in this incredible place. We shared a coffee and we shared stories about our own life experiences from football to movies and from Morocco to Scotland via Spain and England. Salim instantly made us feel at ease as both myself and Libbie listened to his every word. Salike is a very passionate man and wanted to show us as much as possible even though we only booked the half tour. From the tannery to the mill from the fish market to China town market to the Jewish quarter, In and out of narrow streets Salime appeared known by all the locals who also showed him a great deal of respect . We shared great humour but at the same time we learned so much. He even walked us back to our Riad when we told him we’d probably get lost. ;) what an incredible city and what an incredible guide. Even in the tannery we weren’t pressured into buying anything. What an eye opener that is, a wonderful experience and I would recommend anyone wanting to see the Madina in its full glory to give Salime a call. You won’t regret even if only to meet this incredible man. Thanks a million Salime, we met as strangers and we left as friends.
Salim is an amazing guide, he knows perfectly every detail of the Medina. He showed us all the main monuments and the curiosities. But we could also learn about the history and the traditions of this unique country. We really appreciate it and we recommend him. Thank you Salim!
Salim took us ALL over the medina and gave us so much great information. Highlight was making Moroccan "burgers" in the bakery the old way. Awesome!
First the good things: The guide tested to confirm everything before the tour, picked us up when promised, and showed us everything, as agreed. Now, what we didn't like: Hopefully, the tour guide will accept this as constructive criticism. Every sentence he spoke ended with "my dear sir" or "my dear madam" . 4 hours of this. His personality was not like what you might normally expect from a tour guide. I'll leave it at that. He did what was agreed to, but I found the tour tedious. I don't like leaving this kind of review, but others should know that this tour was out of the ordinary for what we have come to expect from Viator.
I had just landed in fes and had just a day and am so glad I booked this tour as it covers all important attractions. The guide was very considerate of my physical limitations and very patient as well. I highly recommend it
Salim was an awesome guide! He was right on time at our Riad and we loved our tour with him! He is very knowledgeable and multilingual. He showed us all the important parts of Fes and we were able to see things that we never would have found on our own! Fes is a bit complicated to explore on your own and we were very happy to have found Salim! After the tour he sent us several pictures of places we had seen that day! Thank you Salim!
We loved this tour with Salim! It was the best way to see also less popular/touristic areas of the medina. Salim knows the medina very well and he will not bring you to touristic shops. I absolutely recommend it!
Salim was a ball of energy from start to finish. He walked us through every inch of the medina, explaining the history and sights in an interesting and engaging way. We laughed the whole time. Salim seems to know everyone which helped to create a great experience. Get ready for a fun day when you work with him.
If you want the best experience with Fes, you will need to go with Salim, our guide for the tour. He went out of his way to ensure that we see everything that was in our list. An honest, hardworking and knowledgeable guide. At the end of the tour, I had forgotten my hat at the restaurant. Once I reached the hotel, he personally collected and delivered it to me. Cannot thank you enough Salim!
That was not a private Guided tour, and we ended up being part of a free tour!!!! I really don't like the idea of joining a free tour, I like to pay for what I'm getting and value the work the guides they do. Our guide was nice but hard to understand what he was saying.
SALIM WAS AMAZING! he picked us up to the hotel at 10am and practically spent the whole day with us. He brought to so many places where I wouldn't have even noticed if I were to travel on my own (without a guide). He brought us to shoemaking, to the tannery, to the local supermarkets, wood and copper making, and also the places where they make the argan oil (where I received a personalized mini facial) :) (you can opt'd out if you wish) Never once did I feel like this tour was bring rushed. He was able to pace our tour and let us take as many photos and videos as we wanted. He also went ABOVE AND BEYOND for me. I had realized I lost items that I had purchased during the tour in the taxi after Salem had left us at the end of the tour. I contacted Salem and he went out of his way after the tour to help me retrieve those items! I cannot thank you enough Salim!!!! You really made our time in Fes a fun and memorable one.
The guide is just top ! He knows perfectly the Medina, speaks many langages and can adapt the tour to what you want to see. Not many shops except if you want but many explanations and some special surprise along the tour that you can see only with this guide !
Salim made our first day in Fez very very enjoyable! He took us to all the key places and avoided the tourist traps to the best of his ability, which we really appreciated. He was very knowledgeable, seemed to know everyone in Fez and had us try different food and snacks along the way. His great mood and humor was also very infectious, and we had a fantastic day with him. The tour lasted about 5-6 hours, but he was very flexible and allowed you to shape the tour as you’d prefer. Would HIGHLY recommend Salim as your tour guide, and he made us more familiar with the Medina for our remaining days in Fez. Thank you, Salim!
Salim is an amazing guide! Friendly, with a deep knowledge of the city's history, avoids touristics spots and provides the experience of the best Moroccan tea and food.
Salim is a fantastic tour guide. He is exceptionally knowledgable tour guide. He knows practically everyone and knows fez like the back of his hand! He personalises the tour to suit the needs of the group. He is very entertaining and vibrant. His multiple language skills are phenomenal. We even booked him the following day for a couple of hours to take us to try the different foods of the medina! Fantastic experience! Highly recommended!
Salim is the most knowledgeable tour guide in Fes!! You can customize your itinerary to your liking and he will accommodate your requests. The medina is tricky to explore and Salim made it easy! Highly recommended!!!
Salim was a fantastic guide, he made our stay in Fes unforgettable. The whole time he spoke to us in Italian, which we did not expect, so it was a pleasant surprise! The tour was well thought out down to the last detail, but at the same time he was very flexible and above all never rushed us. His explanations were clear and detailed. Highly recommended!!!
Excellent tour! Salim was amazing. He met us at our hotel and via taxi together went to the Medina. Salim was very kind, attentive, informative, showed us the ins and outs of the most complex city and alleyways I've ever seen. He coached us on negotiation while we shopped a bit and chose fantastic little places to sit and have coffee and lunch. I have traveled the world, and this was at the top of my list. He's definitely a "MUST" in FES.
One of the best experience ever in Morocco. Salim is a very gentleman, so enthusiastic about his job and the history and culture of Morocco. He guided us around Fez and the medina, we really recommend this experience if you want to make a deep into the Moroccan culture. Thank you Salim for the special day
Salim was the best guide ever ! Very thoughtful, knows so many languages and so many cultures , he knew every place in the Medina and everyone , it’s the small gestures that count and he made sure to buy us some cookies and water to stay hidrated, if you need a guide in fes he is your guy!
I took this tour together with my family, Mr. Selim took us to the most famous places of Fez, in a relaxed way, we stopped at places of interest, to rest, to have a snack, to do some shopping, we even had a hammam session. Mr. Selim has a deep knowledge about Fez. Unforgettable! I recommend!
Salim was amazing, he can speak many languages and knows everyone and all the places inside the Medina. The trip was really fun and we learn and saw a lot. 5* recommend it!
Our guide Selim was very good. He introduced us to life in the Medina and was willing to discuss all aspects of local life. His varied background in metalwork and literature added to the enjoyment. He was also extremely flexible and willing to adapt the walk as it progressed.
Great tour. Very knowledgeable and kind, he was very helpful. Gave us plenty of time for lunch as well, and brought us to less known parts of the city.
Salim is a great guide with lots of knowledge of Fes. Also he has always a good sense of humour and let us always feel at home. Great Portuguese and English speaker. Highly recomend!! If you stay in Fes and have another free day he can show you other attractions. In half day you can see lots of things but there are much more. I would recomend that you schedule with Salim for 2 days.
Salim is incredibly knowledgeable and gave us an amazing tour of Fes! He took us to eat some incredible food and gave us the best introduction to this beautiful city. However, what we really appreciated was that he went out of his way to set up a metal working class for us the next day. He introduced us to our instructor and made sure the price was agreed upon before he left. We cannot thank you enough, Salim. You made our introduction to Morocco magical.
Salim was an amazing guide who had a vast knowledge of everything in Fes and beyond. He took us to the local areas to avoid tourism traps which gave us the most amazing experience. Will definitely contact him again if we are ever back in Fes! Booked via Riad Naila, who made our experience in Fes great too!
He is absolutely amazing, he know so much about Fes culture and he is so kind. Also he speaks many languages so it is easy to communicate. Absolutely a stunning morning at the discovery of this nice town. I loved it 😊
Salim is highly knowledgeable and is loaded with interesting facts not only about Fes but also the world at large. He is also honest in his dealings and what he says, which is extremely refreshing in a place where you can sometimes feel like you are constantly being targeted.
Salim is an amazing guide, and we were very lucky to have chosen him. We have been constantly travelling in Morocco for more than 2 months, and no other guide furnished us with so much info and managed to answer our never ending questions. Apart from the walking tour itself, which I believe is a must, Salim will tell you about food, history, music, handicrafts, local habits and beliefs, politics etc. He has accumulated an incredible amount of data and would gladly share it with you. I would strongly recommend Salim as a guide, leader and most of all France.
Salim is an extremely knowledgable and flexible tour guide. He makes every effort to ensure you fully enjoy and experience the medina, the history of Fes, and its sprawling architecture. He reaches out to you prior to the tour and if you make any requests during or afterward, he immediately accommodates for your desired experience. Incredibly warm and inviting, he takes you to shops and people he knows personally but at no turn did I feel pressured to buy at any specific location. He gives you tips on how to search for items you’d like as well as strongly insists you haggle at every step. He is honest and true to his word (and description of his tour/services), explaining the path we were about to take and each monument we stopped by.
Salim is a good man. First of all, he is trustworthy, upfront, transparent and honest. He is a well respected man in the Medina. He is actually from there and knows its ins and outs, so he knows almost everyone there. Although we did visit two or three shops, he made sure that I was not pressured into buying anything, and this was genuine. I didn't buy anything and it was not uncomfortable. So you don't need to worry about this typical Moroccan problem when you are with Salim. He is also extremely versed in fending off bothersome people. Apart from this, he is very knowledgeable and I really like him. He is very respectful and friendly and I learned a lot about fes and the tour was totally worth it. So you are well advised to book it.
Salim was excellent! A true local insiders look at Fes that we could never have done on our own! He was warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable. We loved this insiders look at Fes and would not hesitate to book another tour with Salim! He seems like a local celebrity, knowing many people in the Medina!
We had an incredible time with Salim! From the moment of our meeting, he exuded so much warmth and kindness. He is very knowledgable about Fez and it's rich history and can go in great depth with every question you might have. He is a true local as he spent his childhood in the streets of the medina. He brought us to places where we otherwise would have not discovered ourselves. He showed us little gems like the leather auction, a local bakery, a rooftop overlooking the university, and a local restaurant (we were the only tourists). He made sure that we had an authentic experience and allowed us to take our time if we needed to. We felt safe and cared about in his company. He even picked us up from our Riad and brought us home. And our tour lasted few more hours than the initial plan, as he made sure that we saw everything and had a great time. Salim is truly one of a kind. My partner Kris and I are truly grateful that we met Salim. He is a wonderful human being that made our Fez trip a more meaningful one. THANK YOU SALIM. I will hold our experience with you close to my heart. We felt that we gained a friend after our experience. If you are looking for the best tour guide and an unforgettable experience, look no further. :)
Salim was a true expert of Fez, and he have arranged everything (spoke with the people that tried to trick us, protect us from the 🏍 move people from the important photo spots, translate to Spanish or English anything, etc etc etc), so we can enjoy his city! I think we would waste at least two times the time we spend with him trying to find the places he took us to. The tour states 4 hours but he uses fully 5-6 hours, full of entertainment, cool things and knowledge! He suits the tour to your needs! I hope we could have payed him more, he is súper profesional and always try to have fun! He is one of a kind :) Thank you Salim!
The tour through the Médina with Salim was one of the highlights of our trip to Fes. Salim is a great tour guide, super friendly, knows a lot about the history of Fes and all the monuments. He also speaks several languages fluently. We got to see places that we for sure would not have found without him. We can totally recommend him as a guide!! Thanks a lot, Salim - we enjoyed your company!
Salim was the best tour guide I have used in years. He was incredibly professional and a true gentleman. His knowledge of Fes and its history is second to none and he is perfectly capable of tailoring his tour to your personal preferences. There’s so much of the Medina that we were only able to see because of Salim and we will be forever grateful. His tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Morocco and made us appreciate Fes so much more. Anyone reading this should go ahead and book a tour with him now.
The visit was just perfect. When we arrived me and my friend where the only customers and instead of just starting he asked us what we wanted to see, the authentic or touristic (museums included) and we arranged with him a price that was good for everyone. He was really kind and made the tour enriching and also pleseant. We visited the main shops (such as the leather tower) and people inside did not rush or bother us. He is a really real person and a guide i am happy we chose to tour with
Salim give us the greatest guide I ever had and I will explain you why: he was very humble with us, he can speak any language you need, he recommended us the best places to eat and he perfectly knows how to make happy the tourist. He will show you the secrets of Fes El Bali and you will enjoy his jokes and his touching speak! Salim is much more than a simple guide, he is an authentic guru, the kind of person that you aren't going to forget. Thank so much for your time and your generosity. Diego Medina.
Salim showed us more of Fez in a few short hours than we could have hoped to explore in days on our own. Extremely knowledgeable from the smallest dirtiest detail to the grand scope of history, politics and faith. Very able to paint a rich picture of the city with its wonderful hidden treasures and beautiful kind local people. Great at catering the tour to your interest. Was not a lecture but rather a conversation with a lot of discussion weaved into the tour itself. He lives and breaths Fez and grew up here and knows his way around this maze of a place with grace and confidence. We felt very safe with him, listened to by him, laughed a lot and learned a lot from from. His tour guiding style is gentle and at a good easy walking pace, not in a rush or pushy at all. Highly recommend getting the most out of your time in Fez with Salim.
Salim is very nice and helpful. He knows Fes like the back of his hand and even takes you outside the tourist track to have a meal were Moroccans would. He knows the history of the city, its landmarks and hidden corners. Very recommended!!
"The best Guide in Fez, Marrocos" Great history experience and I great friend for all journey in Marrocos.
Salim is a person who lives for his clients. He knows the history and ins and outs of the city very well. He takes you to workshops, shops and other places you wouldn't visit if you didn't visit him. Fully recommended.
Great visit with our guide Salim! It is very welcoming and friendly. He introduced us to Moroccan craftsmanship and beautiful places. We've taken a lot of eyes! We recommend!
