We had the most wonderful streetfood tour with Fatima in Fes. She is the youngest and most popular female tour guide of Fes. She lead us through the labyrinth of the ancient medina telling us so much about history, culture, life in Morocco and we’ve tasted soooo many different gorgeous dishes. It was yum! Fatima is a true delight to spend time with, no doubt the is the shining star of the Medina. We will be back!
This was a wonderful experience and well worth the cost. We learned more about the ancient, twisting medina while sampling a range of foods including breads, soups, sweets, and sandwiches made with your choice of meats. Everything was clean and everyone was so welcoming. We would trust Fatimah to feed us anything :)
We had such a great time on this tour and we had wonderful food, trying a lot of things for the first time. Our guide was super flexible and kind with our different food preferences and questions. We’ll do this again, for sure!
We had an amazing experience on a food tour in Fes, and I can't recommend it enough! Our guide, Fatema was absolutely fantastic—so knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the city's rich culinary traditions. The tour took us through some of the most charming, hidden spots in Fes, where we tasted everything from flavorful street food to traditional Moroccan dishes that you won't find in tourist spots. We got to sample fresh spices, olives, and traditional pastries, all while learning about their history and significance in Moroccan culture. Fatema made sure to explain everything in detail, sharing stories about the origins of the food and how it's prepared. It was a real eye-opener, and the food was simply delicious. The best part was how personal and engaging the tour felt. It wasn’t just about the food; it was about the culture, the people, and the traditions behind every dish. We left with a deeper appreciation for Moroccan cuisine and the vibrant atmosphere of Fes. If you’re in the area, this tour with Fatema is a must-do!
This tour was incredible. Fatima was a great guide, showing us fantastic places to eat, especially in places we would not normally go by ourselves (unknown things we would not think to ask etc). She also shared her knowledge of history, culture, and how to navigate the Medina. All the food we tried was delicious. Do not eat that day at all, as there is so much to try on the tour. We could not eat the last item on the tour and took it back to our hotel for later. Fatima, thank you for one of our favorite parts of our Morocco trip.
Our guide Fatima shared thoughtful insights into traditional food, Moroccan culture and Fes history during our 4-hour food tour of the Medina. It’s an educational experience about recipes, ingredients and cooking styles. Each small local restaurant specializes in a Moroccan dish - breads, sweets, soups, treats and more. Portions are plentiful so bring an appetite to this delightful tour in Fes. Ask for Fatima - she knows the Medina and is a joy to spend time. Her communication and knowledge are exceptional. Your tastebuds will thank you.
Fatima is a great guide, just one of a handful of female tour guides in all of Morocco. Pro tip: book her through her website or Instagram directly and the cost is only $40, just half of the cost if you book through an agency.
The tour was Amazing. Fatima is a great guide, explains not only about the food, but about the culture and history of Fes. Wouldn’t recommend to visit the Medina without her, easy to get lost or not finding the interesting things. Thanks a lot, Fatima!
Mohammad Abdul was very generous with his time and knowledge and it felt like we ate almost all the street food of Fez, from soup to breads, drinks, sweets, olives and finishing with a delicious camel burger. He also showed us many of Fes’ cultural and religious sites where possible. Get your walking shoes on and prepare for the ride! Five stars!
Truly the worst tour we have ever had. It started with a terse fella who tour off at a fast pace, and never slowed down for the next few hours. I got a call from another guy who ALSO claimed to be our guide. they argued on the phone and I guess that was cleared up. We tried a couple broths, he guided us to high priced stores where clearly he got a kickback. We never had a meal as stated. We were told that hotel pickup was not part of the tour(even though it was stated it was) so we drove across town to the location stated. Our guide was irritated when I turned down the bread we had tried already that I didn't care for(a stale type bread). The pace was truly fast, and we are a bit younger than some tourists. I think he must have had somewhere to be. it was our only regret of of our time in Morocco. Note, we did let them knw and they really didn't seem to care.
What an amazing experience! Fatima was so kind and knowledgable, she answered all of our questions and helped us learn all about Fez and Morocco. We went to so many place we would never have found on our own
Had the most wonderful time with our guide experiencing a tailor made tour for us as it was just the two of us. Ate the most amazing food and was taken on a wonderful exploration of the medina. Would so recommend this and cannot understand the negative reviews. Is so much more than just about food.
We, however, were highly disappointed considering the price/quality. The kind of food was not bad but given the fact that we only had street food which cost appr. not more than MAD 300 for all 4 of us in total, the price I paid is extremely high. Becoming thirsty we even had to buy our own bottle of water. Of course also the guide had to be paid but all in all a price of maximum EUR 100 would already be more than reasonable. The guide was not very much interested and started already with requesting us to change the time of the tour.
Fatima was a great guide and we had a lovely time trying all of the traditional Moroccan foods in the Medina! Thank you Fatima for a great day!
Meryem was awesome! Not only did she know everyone and where to go to get the best food, but she also showed us how to get ingredients from various stalls and then take everything to the community oven to bake the best and freshest meal we had during our entire trip! If you only book one tour in Fes, this is the one!
My friends and I had a great day with Idriss. He has a deep love of his city and it shows in his work. We ate with the locals and he tailored the tour for our vegetarian diet without a problem. I highly recommend the tour!
The guide was very nice and spoke good english. However it was more a tour about food than a food tasting tour. All the food was together during lunch and the guide was not aware that the food was included in the price of the package. This made it a bit awkward. All the food came in large quantities instead of small tasting bites. The quality of the food was good but the restaurant was not our typical choice (only tourists and very large).
We are foodies, and specifically wanted a food-based tour of the Medina. There weren't a lot of reviews here, so I wanted to specifically leave at TA. Everything in Morocco seems to be sub-contracted, and we were paired with Issam, a local guide, who spoke highly of Moroccan Food Tours as a group in general. He tailored our day to us, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We started at 11, and deliberately paced ourselves so we wouldn't be stuffed silly, knowing there was a big meal at the end. (For reference, we are a family of 7, my parents celebrating their 50th anniversary, and the rest of us being adult children and their spouses.) We tried plenty of things we wouldn't have known to try otherwise, and he was patient as I wrote everything down. He also was very flexible to throw in a couple of cultural stops, as he does do other tours. It was an excellent day overall, and although the food tours are pricier that negotiating a guide at the blue gate, I thought that it was definitely worth it. We ran over by 2 hours, and we tipped him well to make up for it. By the end of the day, I think my parents were ready to adopt him. GoogleMaps or some other mapping app is pretty essential, and dropping pins at places you want to to come back to is also a good idea (or you'll never find that particular lamp shop again.)
Fatima is incredible and these tours are a wonderful way to explore the medina, especially when you first arrive in Fes. Everything we ate was amazing and the vendors sent me home with an enormous bag of snacks for the evening! I did a solo vegetarian tour starting/ending from my riad, which was perfect, and I would recommend bringing folks along with you just so you don't waste the samples that are best eaten on-site. In addition to the endless deliciousness, there will be very gentle sales pitches from weavers, leatherworkers, etc., so if you're not interested in shopping make sure you discuss that up front. Excellent use of time and I would absolutely do this again.
My girlfriend and I did the food tour with Issam. It was the best tour we took in all of Morocco - we did several food & general walking tours. He was a great guide, ensuring we were trying new foods we hadn’t yet tried, and even taking us to the best, most traditional lunch we had in our entire visit to Morocco. The best part of the experience was that Issam was a young guy so we spent a lot of time having genuine discussions about the culture, traditions, and modernization of Morocco. It felt like we were walking around the Medina with an old friend. Great way to spend 4 hours, and we never felt rushed.
We really enjoyed our food tour through the Fes medina with Abdul. He has a lot of information about all the yummy snacks we were eating and made sure we were comfortable and having a good time along the way. Overall, Abdul is a very genuine and kind person. We also had a great time exploring the medina with Salim, who is a very knowledgeable, considerate and thorough guide. We learned a lot and had a great time!
We had such a great time with Fatima on this food tour. She was really patient with the kids and had so much information to share about Fes, we all had a really great time. There was so much food! Go very hungry, but also this is much more than just about food. Fatima gave us recommendations of where to go and continued to help us for the rest of our trip ❤️
We highiy recommend a guide named Fatimma Zahrae .Our food tours at the medina of Fes was excellent mostly thanks to her. A very nice young women with a lot of knowledge and good intentions. Did everything to make our tour a success.
Spending a week in Morocco once we decided that we can travel to the country after all the lockdowns in the past year and one of the items we love is experiencing local culture through food. Fatima was our guild and with my wife's disability, she did an excellent job, with both showing us the foods of Morocco, but also making sure that my wife had the best enjoyable experience. Food was amazing and the number of stops in the Medina was great. You will not go away hungry, and will have a great time. I truly hope tourism picks up, and that People like Fatima can continue sharing the countries rich culture of food.
A very interesting tour that took us to some local places. Had lots of food along with it, couldn't finish it all, had to take some back to the hotel. Thanks to our guide Fatima!
Salem was our guide for a food tour and cultural tour through the souks. He was lovely and a professor of English, so he spoke well and was full of questions himself. We thoroughly enjoyed his company and he taught us alot as we trucked through the amazing and interesting souks to a soup ( fava bean) kiosk, and tried all kinds of local delicacies and pastries, fruits and drinks, and lastly , hours later, a wonderful local bar b que . He was attendant to our every question and need, and we asked a lot. We met many many sellers in the souks ( he knew everyone!) and he also took us to beautiful and historic universities, pointed out the local schools, the tombs, fountains, mosques, etc, He also accompanied us at our request to a ceramics factory just outside of town. He was a wonderful guide. All pick ups, etc were well communicated and easy. Would thoroughly recommend.
We had a great time during our food tour of Fes. Directions to the meet-up were easy, our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and we tried a range of treats. The daytime tour started with a light breakfast and spiced coffee before we plunged into the city to try sweets, fruit, juice, honey, grilled meat, and a bunch of other stuff. We were certainly glad we took the advice and skipped breakfast before meeting up for the tour. Come ready to explore and to enjoy some fine Moroccan food.
This tour was incredible. It was a great opportunity to see Fez with a local, mixing culture, history, daily life and food. What a great combination!
My wife and I were in Fes for our honeymoon and did the Fes Food tour with Abdul as our first real introduction to the city. Abdul was awesome, friendly, knowledgeable, and just an all around great guide. We were there on a holiday, so we really appreciated his flexibility and how nice he was to be around. We had lots of fun going through the winding streets in Fes, learning about food, pottery, leather, rugs, etc. It was an incredible experience that we won’t forget. This is a perfect activity to do when you first get to Fes, as it really gives you an intro to the city and the culture. We had a great time!
Had a great food tour in Fes with Fatima. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. Got to try many moroccan dishes/treats and she walked us around the medina which was a wonderful experience. We would be lost without her guidance! I recommend this tour!
Our tour was through the Medina, and we had not ONE, but two guides. The first guide taught us about the history of Fes, taking us through the Medina & giving us historical background that was much more comprehensive then other food tours I’ve been on. The second guide, our main guide, took us through a variety of food tastings & an absolutely delicious lunch at a meat stop in the Medina that my we returned to TWICE on our own because it really was so fantastic - AND CHEAP. We truly enjoyed the tour, and would do it again. Our guide invited us to dinner at his Riad the next night, and it was bar none the best tagines we had in all of Morocco. If you like food, this is a must do!
This was the perfect experience for our first day in Fez. We actually ate breakfast at our riad first (bad idea) but the food was so much better on the tour. We started out with better versions of the various breakfast breads and moved on to a lot for tastings. Honey, medjool dates, pomegranate juice, soft cheeses, broad bean soup -- just to name a few! We also had a delicious lunch and topped it off with mint tea on Chef Adbul's riad rooftop terrace. But in between all the food, we also got a quick tour and history lesson of the main Fez tourist spots. Otherwise just constant eating might have been a little much. We ended up at the Bou Inania Madrasa, got a peek into the Kairaouine Mosque, and toured the Chouara tannery. We also went to a weaving and pottery/tilework workshops which were a nice addition too. All in all, would definitely recommend for your first day in Fes!
Never again, about 200€ tickets for the family, and then food poisoning 😡, I will not recommend it
SUPER RECOMMENDED! Fatima is great, explains very well and adapts to the group! He has very good English and the tour allows you to try everything and typical things.
