We have just come back Fez Cooking School with Moroccan Food tour. It was such a sensational experience. It was just the two of us and we were met by the lovely.Rabab who lives in Fez and spoke fluent English and was just fantastic. We then walked to the markets which was a much better time with an experienced local. We bought some gorgeous ingredients and then walked back to our Riad. The setup was brilliant we met the lovely chef Niama who taught us to create our incredible meal including a chicken and Olive Targine and a lovely beef meatball in a slow cooked tomato sauce and two scrumptious salads and a dessert with white pomegranate which was a real treat. It was all hands-on. My husband does not normally cook and loved every second of it. We could ask every question we wanted and it was so interesting learning about things you want to ask. A beautiful table was set for us and all of what we cooked was laid out and we sat and had the most sublime lunch you could ask for highly recommend recommended.

Very patient with all ages and disabilities. Included a child (age 6) demonstrating and encouraging to try new methods of cooking. Adapted meal to be both vegetarian and not based on desires of the group. Gave time to rite down directions of what was being cooked/how it was cooked. Stated they would follow up with the recipe.
A nice simple cooking class in riad inside th eold medina. Rabab was great to deal with and met us in an easy to find location just outside the medina. A trip around the market to get fresh ingredients from her favourite sellers then a short walk to the riad to cook a great lunch. We cooked a couple of tangines, dips/salad and a simple fruit cocktail for desert. All easy but delicious. a real hands on class. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned a couple of new recipes which we will be using at home.
This was a highlight of our trip! Not only did we get to make local cuisine, but Rabab was great at ensuring we got all the recipes after. The guided shopping experience was so fun. It was intimate and the beautiful courtyard. Hands-down, a must do.
Best experience!! From the market to cooking, it was such a fun experience, and the best part was the food was delicious!! Def something I’ll recommend
This was a fantastic experience! We met Rabab in the market for groceries for our cooking class, then went to a beautiful Riad where we cooked in a calm garden. Everything was set-up and ready to go. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend, you get the recipes afterwards 😊
What a fun experience. First we went shopping at the local market for all that we needed to make this authentic Moroccan meal. Rabab guided us to all the right places. Then we came to her riad to put all the dishes together. Rabab explained each step but had all of us chop, add spices, stir the sauces, roast the peppers and other techniques to make three taijines and three salads. It was a beautiful and delicious meal. And fun to share with others we met at the class.
What an amazing experience from the start to the end. Our host Rabab met my husband & I near our hotel & then walked to the local market portion of the Medina & bought the ingredients for our lavish meal we were going to cook. Rabab was so friendly & easy to talk to. From there we walked to the nearby hotel where we were going to prepare our meal. We prepared our meal in the garden of the hotel & it was such a beautiful setting to do it in rather than in a kitchen. The chef (I can’t remember her name) was so kind & patient with my husband & I… mostly my husband since his cooking skills are not very good LOL. Rabab was our translator during the entire session & assisted with the cooking as well which was so lovely. We made green pepper salad, eggplant salad, chicken tajine, meatball tajine & mhalabia for dessert. Everything was AMAZING! My husband & I couldn’t believe how delicious the food came out. It was easily the best meal we had in Fez. If you’re looking for a cooking class THIS IS THE ONE TO BOOK!
We had such a pleasant time with Rabab and the rest of the staff during the cooking class. We were taken to local grocers and shown what to buy to prepare our dishes. Prior to the tour, the guide asks you if you have any allergies or preferences, so the menu is prepared specifically for us! The cooking class was a wonderful experience with a lot of warmth and patience. We learned how to cook with a tagine, and used hyper-local ingredients which made the food taste so good! We also prepared our dishes in a beautiful riad with an orange tree canopy covering us. There were dozens of birds chirping which added to the already magical experience! We would recommend Rabab and her team to anyone! Thank you again!
The cooking class in Fes was terrific! I took the class with a friend & we both loved the overall experience. Thoroughly recommend it. Our host Rabab was great, she first took us through the old souk to buy all the fresh ingredients for the cooking class. I found it very interesting going with a local, I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere in the market and being able to ask Rabab questions about some foods I saw in the market (that were new to me) as we went along. The cooking class itself was very well organised & set up in a beautiful courtyard with tiled fountain and orange tree. It was lovely doing the class in such a beautiful, traditional outdoor space. We had a totally hands-on experience of preparing all the Moroccan recipes we made during the class. Our chef Naim taught us well in teamwork with Rabab translating. After a fun morning of cooking, my friend and I sat in the courtyard to eat the salads, tajin dishes and the dessert we’d made in class - it was such a great lunch - everything we’d made was really delicious, actually it tasted extra delicious because it was so freshly made! Since the cooking class I’ve bought a tajin in the market and look forward to now making the dishes at home. I’m so glad I spent a 1/2 day of my holiday time in Morocco doing this cooking class in Fes, it was fun, relaxing, the food we made was delicious and great to learn a new skill.
If you plan on visiting the beautiful city of Fes, be sure to do this activity first! The cooking class first took you through the markets and picked out the vegetables and food that was needed for the cooking class. Then, it takes you to the Riad where the class begins. The instructors were so nice, welcoming, and great to talk to. They made the class engaging and fun. And when we were done with making the food, we got to sit down and eat it and it was by far the BEST Moroccan food I had in all of Morocco. We went to plenty of restaurants within the country, but the cooking class with making your own food made the food special and taste wonderful. It truly is. 10/10 experience. I learned so much and truly the best food you will eat. Not a plate left with any food on it at the end! So the next time you visit Fes, come here to this cooking class and learn how to make wonderful Moroccan dishes and eat the best food in the country. It is 100% worth the price.
Wonderful experience with Rabal and Naima. Starting with buying our food for cooking in the Fez souk and returning to a lovely Riad to cook in the courtyard with the help of Naima. Would definitely recommend. Lovely people and a great experience! Thankyou, Dianne and Michael
Highly recommended, amazing experience for our friend group. Amazing recipes, amazing flavors. Started with a small shopping in the market ended with a really tasty meal.
This cooking class was a highlight. It's a unique and relaxing break from the typical tours in Morocco. held in a beautiful location that makes it feel homey and relaxing. Attending the market with a local was enjoyable and fun to witness. The meals we cooked were tasty and we had so much fun. We learned how to make delicious Moroccan food, including chicken Tagine and eggplant salad! Thank you!
We had a great time preparing local dishes with the help of the chef and friendly translator. The setting was very nice, we cooked everything in the garden then ate our meal outside there. All traditional dishes were made in a vegan version as per our request. We really enjoyed our experience and recommend it to everyone!!
It was an amazing experience to do this cooking class with Rabab and the chef! They were very kind and helpful. In the end the food we made was incredible. I would recommend
It was a very nice cooking workshop. We were allowed to indicate what we would like to cook, then we went to the market to get the ingredients. Definitely recommended. we had a wonderful first evening with delicious food. thanks to Rabab.
Such a fun and yummy way to enjoy our lunch! Rabab started at the market and we got to explore a bit and learn about the market before heading to the riad! Rabab and the chef had a lovely outdoor set up in the courtyard and walked us through the steps of each course! We got to learn how to make some of our favorite Moroccan dishes, including the eggplant salad!
Wow! We had such fun at our cooking class. It was a lovely surprise to get to go to the market to purchase the items needed for our meal. The set up for cooking was in the beautiful Riad Jardin Chifra garden. Our hosts were patient, informative and worked well with our three teenagers. We definitely will be able to make the delicious meal of three different tangines (beef, lamb and chicken), fresh salads and yummy dessert when we get home to the US. I know this class will be a highlight of our Moroccan vacation.
Our group absolutely loved our cooking class in Fez! The cook and her translator were both so kind and patient with us. I have a new appreciation of all that goes in to create the tagines we've sampled throughout our 2-week tour of Morocco! I highly recommend it!
A really good experience! Great location, food and people. The hosts really made everything they could in order to give us a great experience and meet our demands. Vegan options available
Rabab met us and took us around the Medina shopping for food. She explained everything perfectly and we enjoyed our shopping. Then we went to a beautiful riad courtyard to cook. They had a cart with supplies and everything was perfect. We made the most delicious tagines, cooked vegetables and fruit. We did this with three adults and 1 teen. I would highly recommend this cooking class.
Rabab (who speaks fluent English) took us to and through the market, buying fresh meat, veggies, herbs and spices for the courses we were going to prepare. She knew exactly what we needed and took the time to teach us the Morrocan/Darija words for the ingredients we used. The class itself was given by Rabab and another woman. Everything was step-by-step, we've written down the recipe (highly recommended, you'll want to eat this again!). Everyone was very knowledgable and super friendly. The food came out amazing. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this was the best meal we've eaten in Morocco.
We loved the cooking class in Fes. The group was small and our host tailored the experience for us, taking into account hat I am vegetarian and my husband is not. We were happy to meet the family and to enjoy the beatiful place and the lovely and relaxed athmosphere (relaxed place are not easy to find in the souk of Fes). Thank you so much!
We had a great time with Asma. She showed us the market where we bought the ingredients that we cooked together with the help of chef Oumaima. We cooked plenty of traditional dishes and enjoyed them in a beautiful Riad. We had loads of fun and the food tasted incredibile! Our favorite was the chicken tajin. Awesome activity, highly recommend it!
This is a scam—this guy has this class listed a bunch of times, probably because of poor reviews (look at the phone number he uses). This class cost $75 per person which is a LOT for Morocco but would have been worth it if it had actually been a tour and a cooking class. It was neither of these things. Our ‘guide’ didn’t speak any English so we just followed her around the market. She had us pick out onions for participation. The kitchen at the riad wasn’t big enough for four people and wasn’t laid out for a cooking class. And again—they didn’t speak our language so we weren’t actually taught anything. To be honest I’m not convinced that if we did speak French or Arabic they would have really taught us anything either. They were very kind and sweet people but just clearly not tour guides or cooking teachers. Just regular people who were probably very underpaid by whoever listed this posting. We chopped vegetables but mostly they just cooked a meal for us. The food was delicious but this wasn’t a cooking class.
This class is advertised as lunch and dinner. The cost for 3 for our session was $225 and included only a simple lunch of 2 small tagines (meatball and chicken) and a cooked salad of tomatoes/eggplant and cauliflower for three people. Dinner was not included as advertised in the class description. The total class time from hotel meeting point, travel to the kitchen/home location and completion of the class and lunch was 3 hours including travel to the market to purchase ingredients. The cook spoke no English. The guide to support her spoke very little English. The kitchen was very small with not enough counter space to accommodate three attendees jointly participating in the class activities. The food was good but this was not a true cooking class experience. Not recommended. Ridiculously overpriced.
We had a good experience with Abdul. He was perfect on time and took us shopping for ingredients at the Medina. It was nice to talk with him about life in Fez. We made a delicious tajine, but we mostly just cut the ingredients.
great cooking class in fez with a beautifull view over the city! We started with a visit at the local market to afterwards start cooking on the rooftop!
We spent a lovely time with our chef Moufid in the markets, before we were introduced to the moroccan style of cooking. Great test and fabulous instructions!
Very nice experience, we cooked a lot of food and grasped some glimpses of Moroccan culture. Moufid was our “teacher” and helped us a lot :)
We learnt how to cook chicken tagine, meatball tagine and moroccan salad. Mufid, our guide and teacher, has been very good. Not only did he teach us how to cook these dishes, but also gave us plenty of tips for our visit in Fes and Morocco. Thanks to Mufid, the experience is not limited to food as it extends to other aspects of moroccan culture and history. We used a riad’s kitchen and also cooked some of the sides (moroccan salad) that then we shared with the other guests of the riad: what an amazing experience being behind the scenes in a riad’s kitchen! The riad’s owners were lovely too, helped with the cooking and made us feel at home.
Punctual and cozy. Relax, all the time and full attention, caring. Highly recommended. Speaks excellent English.
Nice cook and guide. Nice outdoor kitchen. Good dishes. Everything tasted fine, nice that the recipes were forwarded afterwards.
The cooking course was a great experience! Everything felt very personal and guided with attention. The location was beautiful and immediately created a nice atmosphere. We went out feeling satisfied and full of all the goodies we had made!
Beautiful chef and organization. A gastronomic break with a different point of view. Very interesting to be able to buy the ingredients at the market. Simple to reproduce. I advise.
It was really fun. Rabab first bought the necessary groceries in the souks with us, which we then needed for cooking. In an open kitchen in a great courtyard we processed and ate the ingredients. It was a great experience and we were really fed up afterwards:-)
First at the market we picked out our food and then cooked and ate. All in all a Super fun cooking workshop, highly recommended.
Nice experience to shop together in the medina and then make a delicious extensive lunch (/ dinner) in the garden.Van de beautiful riad. Lovely people, good explanation and nice result. Recommended!
Great time!! magnificent tour in the Medina to buy the products at the market then the cooking class begins... in the garden shaded by orange trees. The meal is divine to the song of water flowing from the fountain! Thank you for this beautiful time!!
3 middle-aged madam on tour in Morocco got the chance for a cooking course in Fes. After several intense and contentful days on the go, this quiet afternoon was the right thing. We met with our very sweet and sympathetic guide Rabab in the souken and got purchased div. raw materials for dinner. Then we went to a riad where the food was prepared in the cozy courtyard surrounded by fountains, shady trees and a couple of turtles. An older woman led the cooking (maybe her name was Naima?) and Rabab interpreted along the way. We got made appetizers, Moroccan salad, dessert and 2 tagines, of which the with beef, apricots and sweets was our absolute favorite. Finally, we enjoy the whole food and feel ready to experiment with the beautiful Moroccan cuisine. Can warmly recommend ❤️
An experience not to be missed! The outdoor cooking class, the Moroccan know-how, the kindness of our hosts, everything was perfect (and delicious!) Thank you for this great time!
We had a great time and learned lots of different recipes that were easy to make at home. We really enjoyed the little trip to the market before starting to cook. A very friendly and perfectly organized moment so that each person in the group participates and then shares a good meal. THANKS !
We chose the cooking class experience in Fez, which included a tour of the market with Rabab, the preparation time and finally enjoying the lunch prepared in the splendid garden of the riad. We strongly recommend the experience, first of all for Rabab's kindness and friendliness, then also for the location in which the experience takes place and for the success of the dishes, among the best eaten during the entire holiday! Excellent quality-price relation. Thanks Rabab see you soon! Andrea and Francesca
Rebab is a very sweet woman, who, together with the 'master chef', explained everything to us about the various Moroccan dishes. You cook everything yourself, from cutting the vegetables to serving them neatly on a plate. You make 6 different types of dishes. We had a great time with these sweet and cheerful people. The cooking course is given in a cute courtyard of a riad. And finally, enjoy your home-made meals!
The cooking class today was fantastic...! We were in the class with 2 friends..., learned super tricks and actually made 2 great salads..., a little more unusual, not the boring beef with plums... A poem of a tomato and pepper salad, then chicken with lemons and olives with a perfect onion sauce...! Also beef with peas and artichokes...!! You definitely have to book...!!!
Started the class by traveling in time to middle age Fes food souk. Our chef/guide Moufid provided an entertaining but profound background on Moroccan cuisine and traditions in general. Cooking itself took place in a palace-like riad. It was like cooking with friends and tasted like Arabian nights. The course began with a journey through time to the medieval food market. Moufid gave us an entertaining and at the same time very informative outline of Moroccan cuisine and traditions in general. We were able to determine the menu ourselves. Cooking was then done in a palatial riad. It tasted like 1001 nights.
