Day Trip From Fes To Volubilis Moulay Idriss & Meknes

Great tour with an excellent driver and car. Worth the expense and not having to take a train, arrange for a taxi or grand taxi to Volubilis and back to Meknes.

I had an amazing day trip from Fes visiting Volubilis, Moulay Idriss, and Meknes! Our guide was outstanding, providing fascinating history and local insights at each site. Volubilis was stunning, with well-preserved Roman ruins and intricate mosaics that really brought ancient history to life. Moulay Idriss was charming and peaceful, and our guide gave us meaningful context about its cultural and spiritual importance. Meknes was the perfect way to wrap up the tour – exploring the beautiful medina, historic gates, and grand architecture was unforgettable. This trip was well-organized, comfortable, and filled with unforgettable moments. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Fes!

This day trip from Fes to Volubilis, Moulay Idriss, and Meknes was fantastic! The ancient ruins of Volubilis were impressive, and Moulay Idriss was charming with its historical significance. Meknes offered a rich cultural experience with beautiful architecture. The journey was smooth, and the scenery along the way was stunning. Highly recommended!

Amine was a fantastic driver. Accommodated wherever I wanted to stop. He spoke great English and was able to answer any question I had about Morocco. As a solo traveler this trip was a perfect way to see the cities and sites. Highly recommend.

Driver was first class and the vehicle was brand new. Travelled first to Volubilis which as expected was fascinating. Well worth the visit. Then drove to Moulay Idriss Zerhoun which is a lovely little town built across two hills. Quite stunning as you approach it. Drove through the narrow streets. After that drove to Mekness where our driver/guide took us to a local restaurant for lunch. It was very good. Had time for a wander round some of Mekness but many of the major attractions were under renovation. It is good to see that money is being spent on such major refurbishment. We enjoyed our day trip and would recommend Morocco Fez Tours.

Volubilis is a must see, incredible experience. Meknes was busy with construction and moulay Idris not much to see. Personally I would skip that part. Our driver was very nice however vehicle's air con did not work well

Redauoen (our guide) is amazing. Kind, knowledgeable, funny, and prompt. He tailored our tour to fit our desires and abilities. His suggestions for food and photo opportunities were spot on. He was prepared for all situations, including lending us an umbrella at the site when the temperature soared.

We spent a lovely day with our driver Nasser ElHour going on this tour. It was very hot 97 degrees Fahrenheit and he was very solicitous and helpful in making sure we were okay. He took us to a lovely restaurant in Meknes & and a driving tour of the city. Thank you Nasser!

Nasser was an excellent driver. He arrived on time and at the designated pickup location. He gave us information and guidance when we wanted and left us alone to explore when we asked.we felt safe with him and enjoyed the experience.

We had a wonderful stay in Fes at your Riad. Youssef attended to all our needs during the stay. The house is as described in the Airbnb listing and we loved the traditional decor and how each room was furnished. We really appreciate you allowing us to check-in early and offer breakfast. We would highly recommend the riad to anyone visiting Fes.

We through that is group tour but backend is not. That is private car with enough time with comfortable pace for our visit. River red1 is a polite and patient people with very good english. That is good tour we quite enjoy of it.

We had a great time with our driver Toufik for this day trip of Volubilis Moulay Idriss & Meknes. We visited Volubilis in the morning and then had a quick lunch before entering Moulay Idriss village and taking panorama photos of this village, which was big surprised experience we had during this trip. Then we visited the underground channels and the famous gate and the medina in Meknes. We came back Fes in the evening. Highly recommend this day trip.

We enjoyed a great day with Yassin cruising around in very comfortable luxury Mercedes people mover. Timings were flexible to suit us & Yassin offered recommendations for dining etc.

It is our last day in Fes and we took a day trip with our driver/guide Sufyan 大禹. We couldn't ask for a better friend to visit the sites with. He was professional and very informative and such an inspiration to speak to. He shared his culture with us and taught us so much about Fes and the sites. Volubilis is beautiful and is surprisingly well preserved! We then went to Meknes where he provided so much information about the city's history and stories. He also generously took us for the view of the beautiful city of Fes at the end and we shared great conversation over coffee for hours after the tour before dropping us off at our desired location. Sufyan comes highly recommended and you can be sure to have a wonderful time with him. He is a very knowledgeable man and a very proficient linguist. His hospitality was great and we are happy to have made a new friend. To Sufyan, from your friends from Singapore, 学海无涯！

We went on a day trip to Meknes and Volubilis with our guide Sufyan, a local from Fes who spoke relatively fluent Mandarin (considering he had only self-learnt it for a year!) Volubilis was really worth a visit with its rich culture and ruins which were astonishingly well preserved. The paranomic views from the site was also breathtaking; a good change from the hustle and bustle of the busy city of Fes. Do not miss Bab Mansour in Meknes, one of the most beautiful gates in the whole of Morocco and also the prison which gave us an insight on how the city was like under the governance of Sultan Ismail. We encountered some of the best people during our Morocco trip here in Fes. The locals were helpful, truly friendly, knowledgeable, and the pride they have in their country's culture and history is moving and inspirational. Sufyan went out of the way to make the trip a memorable one for us. He is a true linguist with a great command of Arabic, French, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin. Also armed with a great sense of humour and a wealth of knowledge in the Moroccan culture, our time spent with him was nothing short of educational and entertaining. His service standards were truly impeccable. Dear Sufyan, thank you for being so generous with your time with us and we appreciate every minute spent with you during the tour. Our guide Soufiane was very good, was knowledgeable and drove the car well. Good to get an early start from Fes.

Redwan is a great guide and we had such a good day with him. We thought we would be on a group tour but were pleasantly surprised to find it was just the 2 of us on the tour. Redwan gave us great information about all of the sights and even took us to the train station on the way home so that we could get our tickets for the next day. Thank you Redwan!

Our party of 3 was collected from our Riad by Jalal and so began one of our most enjoyable days in Morocco. Jalal was both informative of customs in this country and generous in sharing his varied life experiences with us. We were uncertain at some of the sites we visited as to what we should do but Jalal always gave sound guidance and advice. The car was impeccably turned out, comfortable and possessing an extensive playlist (Jalal’s) of mainly contemporary Arabic music. A truly memorable day made so by our obliging and genial guide - Jalal is a credit to Moroccan Fes Tours. Good Luck Jalal writing that number 1 hit!

Make sure you carry small cash with you. We had a friendly person welcome us and then offered to exchange our dollars for a low Dirham rate. Bring water and wear a hat and shoes with a grip. There is also a small place to eat/snack near the entrance. We went at the end of August 2018 and we had to quickly cut our trip short due to the heat. I would recommend hiring a guide. I've been here twice already, and plan to come back now that I know better. (first time, former in laws brought me here. The second time I went with my boyfriend on our own since I loved this place so much).

I would highly recommend Fez Morocco Tours to create an excursion while staying in Fez. Adil, our driver was courteous, knowledgeable and safe. He gave us many pointers on the excursion. He made our day. When I return to Fez, I will not hesitate to use this service again.

We enjoyed our excursion from Fes, and especially loved our time at Volubilis. They are lovely Roman ruins with magnificent mosaics. However, our driver did not take us to Moulay Idriss and when we asked about it he said why would we want to see tomb for someone we don’t know.

We just returned from a wonderful day with our driver Yassine on the day trip from Fes to Volubilis, Moulay idiss, Meknes , other landmarks in these areas and as we requested a photo stop at the Palace and The Jewish Quarter of Fes. We arrived at this restaurant very late night and enjoyed wonderful dinner, landscape from terrace with reasonable price. Very friendly staff too! I.recommend you to choose a set menu, one is 75 the other is 85. The cuscus here is not greasy, very mild and healthy with lots of vegetables! 滞在期間が短かったので一回しか行きませんでしたがすごくオススメです！上のテラス席、最高です！アラカルトで頼むよりメニューの方が絶対お得です！また二人以上で行く場合は量が多いので違う料理を頼んでシェアするといいですよ。

I had a wondeful day. The driver- guide Aziz was very helpful and I learned a lot, not only about the places we visited but also about Maroccan traditions and history. Very well organized!

Fez is fantastic. A couple of days minimum. Meknes is being restored (January 2024) and the truth is that one day is enough. Moulay Idris is not worth it. It is a sacred place but it is attractive to secular people and I don't know how to enter mosques or madrasas. Making the trip to see them from the door is not worth it. The surrounding landscape is very beautiful. I would not repeat Meknes.

Very good experience for organizing the day with Wijdan. Granted my request to go around backwards (one of the few in Fez), responsive, clear messages, reminder the day before. The driver Mohamed: very good driver, careful, very polite, discreet, attentive, attentive to our requests, does everything to satisfy the customer. Very nice to chat with him. Magnificent Meknes, impressive Volubilis, we finally did not stop at Moulay Idriss, Mohamed had taken us to a superb viewpoint. In short, we recommend!

Wonderful excursion. We were only 4 people. Driver Said very good guide, was explaining everything about the villages where we spent with good Spanish. He advised us about the sites we visited, whether to take a guide or not, and gave us his sincere opinion about the prices of the services (optional volubilis entrance, restaurants, etc.) in addition to anticipating what local people would offer us to know if it was worth it or not. In addition, before the excursion they contacted us to remind us of the place and time of the morning stay. Very attentive to customers. The guide Nourdin in meknes was the best I have met in Morocco, besides a wonderful person. I highly recommend it, it was a great day. Calmer than other excursions we did in Morocco, beautiful sites and with great history. Meknes a beautiful city that we enjoy very much even though many monuments are in the works. We were able to enter the mausoleum and see from the inside the great decoration that they have in addition to their religious significance. If I return near this area of Morocco I will repeat it! We are very grateful for the treatment we received!!

We were there today, there were 4. The very friendly driver, helping and collaborating all the time. Both Volubilis, which is extensive, and Meknes, which impresses with its great walls. Highly recommended.

Our visit went very well. Volubilis impressed us greatly. Do not hesitate to choose an on-site guide for visiting the ruins. Allow at least 90 and 120 minutes to explore the site. Meknes has disappointed us a little. Of the attractions to visit, most were closed during our visit. The driver was attentive, warm and professional.

Our driver Pedro is the best without a doubt. On time, it took us to the best places with the best views and facilitated us at all times the journey. He was attentive and helpful. I would definitely choose Peter again. Thanks for all the friends.

Excellent visit to these historic sites on Saturday, October 13, 2019, with our driver and guide Adill, very friendly and especially humorous. A person to recommend.

The proposed taxi tour from Fes seemed expensive, and moreover in a non-air conditioned car.As our hotel was near the station, we took the train to Meknes. It's cheap, even first class, and the compartments are air conditioned. In Meknes we found a taxi that took us to Volubilis, Moulay Idriss and left us in the medina to visit Meknes at our own pace. The visit of Volubilis is a bit difficult in the middle of August but there are many remains, and mosaics and it is worth it. Perfect day for a reasonable price.

It was a very nice experience. The vehicle was very comfortable and the driving of its driver, Yassin, was impeccable. As we were very satisfied with the service, we called on this company again for a second shipment the same week.

We went on a private tour.
