Beautiful intimate luxury camp with wonderful staff who cater to your needs and hope The tents are superbly appointed, the meals were tasty and filling and the tours incredible. For example 1st time the moon was so bright (we did a moonlight dunes walk!) the stars were washed out so next day my sunset quad bike tour was extended so I could be deep in the dark desert to catch them Thank you Abraham and gamid

Great experience. The camp is really comfortable. Ibrahim and Hamid did everything for us there.
This was a truly amazing experience. Definitely much better to do 4 days tour rather than 3 so you can stop and see all the amazing sights on the way. Hotels stays were amazing. Our driver was so friendly, calm and a great driver and knew a lot of information about places we saw.
I had such a great 4 day trip! It was definitely worth the money. We saw a completely different side of Morocco and had many great experiences. A wonderful sunrise, nice landscapes and a great entertaining Evening in the desert camp. Mohammed our driver was really friendly and kind. He taught us a lot about Morocco, the culture and the people and really wanted to give us an interesting insight in Moroccan life. I felt safe all the time. Just the food in the desert camp wasn’t the best. The hotels were nice and clean. All in all I had a perfect experience! I would recommend.
We had a great experience! The best thing about the tour was the Quad Ride and our guide/ driver Mohammed. He was very nice, open and made sure everyone is having a good experience. We learned a lot about the Moroccan culture and life in the desert. The accommodations were amazing. Would highly recommend the tour!!
Mohammed our Driver and Guide was very polite and was happy to answer all our questions. He always went extra step to make our trip memorable. Thank you! The quad tour was the highlight of our trip. I would highly recommend that. There are no hidden fees and the length of 4 days is perfect.
We did the 4D3N tour and we're really glad we chose that option. You get one extra day to explore Merzouga (or relax at the hotel pool), which we spent doing the 4x4 desert tour with Da Amarouch and really enjoyed the experience. The other days are mostly on the road with short stops at the sights, but our driver Hamid got us everywhere quickly and safely.
Fabulous experience, great guides and a win time for all of us. Really informative and fun, It really was a must do experience Said was amazing, he really took care of us, nothing was too much trouble 😀
Was a great way to see a bit of the desert and then the Atlas mountains. great travel with our drivers mouhamed and said.
Hamid was our driver and he did a nice job
We did the four-day tour and had a great experience overall. For the first day (traveling from Fez to the camp in Merzouga), we had a different driver than for the final two days, but both were excellent—very friendly, helpful, and full of knowledge. Overall highlights were the night in the desert—the camel ride through the sand dunes to watch the sunset was unforgettable, and the camp and food were both excellent. Secondly, our driver Mohammed. You do spend a lot of time on the road during this trip, and our driver for days 3 and 4 was amazing. We were a group of 7 for those days, and I learned so much from Mohammed about Morocco , the places we visited as well as the way of life here. He also chose great places to stop for views and/or lunch, which added a lot to the experience. I’m glad we chose the four-day option as it gave us an extra day in the middle to chill - There were optional activities like a 4x4 tour or quad biking if you wanted to do more. All of the accommodations, including the desert camp, were really good. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Very exciting trip, the driver is very nice! Good experience! Thanks said!
A good experience. Hamid was a great guide and driver for the last 2 days.
Amazing scenery throughout the journey. Hamid was a great driver and looked after us well.
Everything was amazing in the trip! Said was an excellent driver and tour guide he took us everywhere on time and the experience was amazing.
Well organized, all chat through whatsapp was clear and prompt. Guides were informative and respectful. Mohamed and Said were so wonderful as our guides, they created such a fun atmosphere.
The highlight of a two week tour around Morocco. A wonderful experience with a fantastic guide in Mohammed who gives a true and honest insight into Moroccan culture.
Good expérience, Said is a Good driver and very Guy 😊
perfect experience! everything was perfect. thanks to our driver Hamid!
Great trip with our driver Mohammed! He was very funny, showed us lots of places and stopped for every view point. Had an amazing time and lots of fun, would definitely recommend!!
The trip was amazing! Mohammed showed us a lot of places and made our journey really memorable. I would definitely come again.
First of all, I’d like to thank our incredible guide, Mohhamed. He didn’t just tell us about the places where we stopped. He shared fascinating stories and insights about the lives of the local people, which made the whole journey feel truly alive and meaningful. I was traveling alone and felt completely safe and well taken care of the entire time. We had a fun night in the desert with dancing and drumming — it was such a magical atmosphere. Then I spent a night at a hotel overlooking the sand dunes: breathtaking views, a delicious dinner and breakfast, everything was absolutely great. The itinerary itself was very thoughtfully and conveniently planned, and it included one of the most beautiful roads I’ve ever seen in my life. I highly recommend this company! I’ll definitely be booking my tours with them again!
All perfect. Said was great all the way and gave us a really good time. We arrived perfect and on time to every stop. Recommended
Yesterday, we returned from our 4-day tour through the Moroccan desert. The tour was fantastic. During the last two days, we were with Mohamed, who was our driver. How lucky we were to have him with us! Mohamed knows the culture, traditions, and history, past and present, of his country perfectly, and he knows how to share it wonderfully, in impeccable English. Meeting him helped us understand the country through the eyes of a local. We should also mention his great sense of humor. With him, we felt very comfortable at all times, and he added an important extra touch to our trip.
I did the four day tour with Mohammed and it was spectacular. He is a brilliant man who has a rich background in history, and speaks better English than most Americans I know. Hearing about the culture from him was so enriching, and everything in the tour was smooth from all the perfectly paced stops to the generosity and kindness of the desert dwellers. I will go again for sure.
The 4-day tour was incredible! Probably, the best tour I have gotten so far ✨ First of all, our local guide Mohammad was sharing with us so generously, with open heart and humour, his knowledge about Morocco - he made the whole experience feeling like we were the wanted guests in the land that is loved and respected by its inhabitants. The whole trip we were accompanied by the Berber people - they were very welcoming, and we stayed 2 nights in the desert. We were 2 young women, and we felt safe and comfortable being accommodated in the camp - it was very quiet and peaceful to spend time there, and it was the best gift I could give to myself. The whole trip the Nature was majestic - the drastic change from snowy pine forest in the morning to to the desert in the evening - absolutely breathtaking variety of the climate zones, and touching picturesqueness of the landscapes. I’m very grateful for this experience, and I wish all the best to the people who do this beautiful work - showing us the best sides of Morocco with care.
An amazing trip from Fes to Marrakesh, beautiful scenery and incredible experiences in the desert. All accommodation was to a high standard and the guides were very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend taking the 4 day trip to spend longer in the desert.
It has been a great experience! Very comfortable transports and accommodation, as well as knowledgeable drivers and guides that explain well about the country, its heritage and the Moroccan and ancient traditions. I recommend for going with couple or friends, even solo traveling you get to meet nice people from all over the world
So glad we did the 4 day trip. We were able to add on a day of activities and site seeing. The sunset, moonrise, and sun rise in the desert were beautiful. Each driver and guide was friendly and knowledgeable Mohammed shared a lot of good information about Moroccan life.
Very nice experience. We booked a 4 day tour from Fes to Marrakesh, I would recommend spending the 1st night in hotel and 2nd night in Camp. This is more relaxing and you have more time to enjoy. Aimad was in touch the whole time. No negative.
Great tour especially with my driver Aimed - I did the 3 night / 4 day tour - lots of activities including desert camel ride and 4x4
I checked out many tours before deciding on Desert Smiles Tour and it was the right choice. Our guide Mohammed is personal, did his best to resolve any issues and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. Everything, particularly the desert stay exceeded my expectations : lodging and food were great, camel ride, transportation etc. Thank you for a great trip!!
Amazing trip. Accommodation was fine, transport worked great and everyone involved were so friendly and helpful. The desert experience was the highlight, everything about it was magical.
This was a long trip with a mix of highs and lows, but after reflecting on the overall experience, I would consider it below average. Tour Structure & Accuracy: The itinerary listed on Viator was slightly inaccurate and seemed to vary depending on which company or person was handling each leg of the journey. It appears that this tour operator outsources various parts of the trip—drivers, guides, hotels, and desert camps—based on availability, so there’s no consistency in what you'll get. Day 1: The first day was mostly driving, which was expected. However, we only had a driver, not a guide, so the stops along the way lacked any meaningful context. We did see monkeys, which was fun, but be cautious: vendors will offer peanuts to feed them, then ask for more money. Pay no more than 5 dirhams. There was also a stop where we were told it was our "last chance" to buy water and turbans before the desert. This is simply not true. The prices were a scam—€10 for water and €20 for a turban. You’ll have other opportunities to buy those items at normal prices. The hotel and dinner that night in Merzouga were okay, but by then, everyone was too tired to care much. Day 2: This was a frustrating day. The tour owner told me I’d be picked up at 2 PM, so I tried to kill time in Merzouga. There’s not much to do—it’s a town built for tourism—but I did enjoy a great lunch and left the restaurant a glowing review. Back at the hotel, no one showed up at 2. After messaging the tour owner, my pickup finally arrived at 3:35. The driver, who turned out to be the desert camp owner, said he was only informed about me 30 minutes prior. The tour owner blamed the driver, which felt unprofessional and unfair—especially since most reviews suggest a 4 PM pickup anyway (to align with a sunset camel ride). Passing blame with no accountability was a red flag. Desert Camp Experience: The desert camp itself was fantastic. The camel ride was beautiful, though extremely windy—definitely bring sunglasses and something to wrap your face and hair. I shared a tent with two strangers, which was fine. The tents had Wi-Fi, basic running water, and electricity—enough to check your phone and use the bathroom, but not reliable enough for a full shower. Dinner was decent, with beer and wine available for purchase. After dinner, we enjoyed music and stargazing, and I had a great conversation with the camp owner about the region's history. We went to bed early to catch the sunrise camel ride the next morning. Day 3: A new driver joined us for the final two days. The first day with him included several stops that felt random and uninteresting—mainly shops. Lunch was overpriced, and the hotel dinner was nearly inedible. The hotel itself was okay, but noisy guests made it difficult to sleep. Day 4: This day had more engaging stops, including famous movie filming locations, which I really enjoyed. However, the driver's behavior became concerning. He was visibly irritable, honking constantly, yelling at other drivers, and driving so aggressively that the tires were skidding and burning. The smell of rubber was overwhelming, and several passengers felt sick. He also pressured us to visit a specific art shop in Ait Benhaddou with overpriced paintings. When we found similar art for a third of the price elsewhere, he became agitated and yelled at the local artist in Berber. This incident left us all feeling uneasy for the remainder of the trip. At lunch, many people skipped eating due to the stress. I ate but was served undercooked chicken and ended up with food poisoning the next day, which ruined most of my time in the riad. Adding to the discomfort, the driver persistently pressured me to leave him a review—he even insisted I do it before leaving the lunch spot. This aggressive push made me question the authenticity of many of the glowing reviews for tours in Morocco on this platform. Final Thoughts: The Sahara Desert and the movie locations are worth visiting. However, I’d recommend a shorter tour (2 nights instead of 3) and, based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this particular tour operator.
The drivers definitely stop at places where they get some commission because that food was so overpriced. Apart from that it was amazing. Don’t hesitate to take the sandboard to just go and explore on your own at the desert camp.
Imad is very friendly driver, we booked the 4 days tour . It was amazing, we went to soo many places like ouarzazat , Marrakech, Merzouga. It was very unique experience full of memories, I really recommend it, specially with Imad
I am so glad I did the four day tour, which allowed extra excursions that are invaluable to the desert experience. The owner, Aaimed, was very helpful in arranging activities during the tour in my extra day in the desert, and offered to arrange activities in Marrakech as needed. Aaimed is very invested in his clients and customers satisfaction - due to a minor delay on the first day due to no fault of his own, he gifted me a turban and a cute sand bottle holder so I can commemorate my visit with the Sahara sand. The driver on my 3rd and 4th days, Saeed, was also very helpful and patient. Due to my limited cash on hand, he loaned me 400 dirhams until we could get to an ATM later in the day. Overall, he has a great attitude and fantastic to spend two days with.
The journey is awesome, we can experience the vast landscape and culture, the panoramic views in each area are different and amazing. The driver have a lot of experience and very friendly. Recommended to all
The journey was pleasant, our dear driver are super and helpful, we get to experience the difference view and scenery, from vast vegetation to vast mountain and sahara.
We had a great time exploring Morocco with Mohammed as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, and his vehicle was very clean. I highly recommend Mohammed to anyone to explore this beautiful country.
Our tour guide (who was also our van driver), Mohammed was an excellent guide with an excellent knowledge in Moroccan history. He took care of us like his own family members. We enjoyed every bit of our Moroccan experience
This was an amazing experience and most of the tour guides were great, with the exception of one that did not speak english, spanish, or french at a level enough to provide a tour guide experience. However accommodations were great with A/C, the experience was wonderful, we felt very safe at all times, and the operators were very responsive at all times if we messaged them. I only have two big recommendations for future travellers. 1. Don’t do the 3 nights trip unless if you want to spend a whole day (7pm-4pm) alone not doing anything in the hotel at merzouga. If you want to relax and lay back, then do that, but the price difference between the 2 night and 3 nights is quite a big one and the value is just not there. 2. I would HIGHLY recommend booking in person at the local tour shops in whichever city you are in. I pre-booked and paid 400$CAD per person and I received a quote of 175$CAD per person once I arrived at Marrakesh and asked around. Only gripe I had was that for our lunches, we were taken to restaurants that were 3x as expensive as local restaurants, with subpar food quality. Local restaurants charged around 30-50dh for a meal but the ones we were taken to were upwards of 125dh per person. Food quality was subpar and the chicken was always overcooked in these restaurants. The meals that were included were good and I have no complaints. Overall, great experience, the tour guides were great, the rides were decent but they had A/C so that made them alright, and as mentioned, the rooms/accommodations were great.
The trip with Aimed was the best. He is very flexible with the time and knows very well the routes and places to not only take pictures but also to support with tourism to the people who need it the most. His way of driving is very comfortable and safe. He is always making sure that his guests are comfortable and have a good time and trip. We recommend him 100%.
I booked a 4-day tour from Fez to Marrakech with stops along the way such as Erg Chebbi in the Sahara, Todra Gorge, the Atla Film Studio in Ouarzazate and Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, all of which straddle along the Small Atlas mountain range. I had the pleasure of riding in the passenger van driven Aimed for the latter two days of the trip. We traveled through spectacular sceneries on surprisingly good paved roads, of which involved many hairpin turns that required focus and skills. Aimed handled every situation beautifully and delivered all 7 passengers including myself safely in Marrakech. I highly recommend Aimed for anyone's future travels.
Outstandingly organized, accommodations (camp and hotel) were very clean and neatly equipped, food freshly prepared and delicious, the staff was particularly positive, always approachable, humorous, spreading a good mood.
We had an unforgettable time in the desert. We were warmly welcomed at the desert camp. For questions and concerns, we were helped in a guest-oriented and flexible manner. Besides delicious food, the evening and campfire were ended in a social gathering. Overall a 10/10.
We had an unforgettable time in the desert. Everyone we met was super friendly and made everything possible to ensure we had a good time here. A lot of consideration was given to our wishes. We are super glad that we chose this tour and will never forget the time here and the people!
We had an authentic and exotic experience during this tour! The 4-day tour allows you to discover multiple facets of the country, outside of the big cities, and especially the desert and the mountains. A lot of driving to do, but we were lucky to have an excellent driver, Aimad (The man of the desert!), who allowed us to have peace of mind during these many kilometers, in addition to sharing his best coffee stops and beautiful facets of daily Moroccan life with us! A must-do! 🌞🙏🏼
We loved this excursion. It is really worth the cost to spend two nights/one full day in the desert if you have the time! Our driver and guide, Aimed the desert man, was really great with us. He knew how to keep a good pace without us ever feeling rushed during the stops and gave us plenty of very interesting information about Morocco. Thank you Aimed!!!
The trip was very interesting and quite long for me from Marrakech to Fez. I've been in touch since the beginning, answering all the questions I've asked. When I asked to be picked up from the riyadh, they sent me a car, which is nice. I had two drivers, both very nice people, on the last day Sayid picked me up from the desert, straight from the hotel and drove me to Fez, the trip was comfortable and quiet.
