It was amazing! We had a great driver Mohammed who went the extra mile by giving us extra pieces of information about certain places and culture. We could have interesting conversations about the culture where my knowledge grew tenfolds about Morocco and islam. The desert experience is something everyone should do once in their lifetime.

Itinerary
Day 1
1
Our start will be from Fes the Medina, where your driver/guide will pick you up from your Hotel.
Our expedition from Fes will commence as we traverse through Ifrane, a winter ski resort constructed by the French in the 1930s, designed to mimic the charm of a Swiss village.
Proceed by journeying through the cedar forest in Azrou, where you'll encounter monkeys, then traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains. Much of the day will be dedicated to navigating through stunning forests, springs, rugged rock formations, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and commence the descent towards the Sahara Desert.
At the midpoint, a lunch break awaits you in the town of Midelt, renowned for its fossils and rocks. Following this, the journey resumes towards Merzouga along the road.
Pause to take in a sweeping panoramic view of the vast oasis filled with palm trees before arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon. Following a refreshing mint tea break, your guide and camels will be ready to transport you across the sandy dunes of the erg-Chebbi. Revel in the splendor of the sunset during your camel ride, and after an hour's journey, you'll arrive at the desert camp to spend the night in an authentic Berber tent. At your desert abode, your camels are secured, and mint tea is graciously served. Conclude the evening with a delightful dinner, and as you lay beneath the desert sky, indulge in stargazing until you drift into a peaceful sleep.
Day 2
2
Wake up early to watch the sunrise if you want. Start your journey to Ouarzazate after a delightful breakfast, navigating the challenging Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. These kasbahs stand tall like turreted sand castles along the ancient caravan trading route. Renowned for its cinematic allure, this region has been a favored setting for Hollywood productions, including The Last Temptation of Christ, Jewel of the Nile, and more recently, Hideous Kinky. The central region, nestled amidst lush river valleys, palmeries, and radiant mud-brick homes, paints an exhilarating and romantic picture under the azure desert sky Stop for a leisurely lunch before trekking through the enchanting Todra Gorge. Continue your journey through the enchanting Dades Gorge, passing the stunning cliffs.
Passing by the capital of roses which produces roses every May where they celebrate every year and give a prize to the most beautiful girl every year
Enter Ouarzazate to relax in the hotel which has a swimming pool and enjoy dinner
Day 3
3
Indulge in a delightful breakfast before exploring the town of Ouarzazate, encompassing the Kasbah of Taourirt and the renowned Atlas Studios movie studios, the largest and most celebrated in all of Africa. Proceed to Ait Ben Haddou, reaching in time for lunch. Here, you can explore the iconic Kasbah, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and featured in notable films such as The Gladiator, Babel, and Lawrence of Arabia.
Traverse the High Atlas and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, navigating a road that ascends from the plains to 2260m above sea level. Journey through quaint villages, picturesque waterfalls, and a landscape that continuously unfolds in a kaleidoscope of colors amid the stunning mountains. As the day concludes, make your way back to your hotel or riad in Marrakech.

Our driver Mohammed was incredible! He’s so kind, enthusiastic, knows so much and is really sweet. The schedule was perfect too. I would recommend this to everyone! Happy greetings from Holland!
Our driver mohammed gave us a lot of information about the moroccan culture, people and country. I learned so much. We vistited a lot of interesting places and experienced what Morocco has to offer. Awesome experience!
I had the most amazing time with our driver Mohammed. He was incredibly kind and welcoming. Whenever I had a question he always took the time to explain, so I learned a lot on my trip. The drives were all so comfortable and Mohammed took the time explaining the route which was also nice. Just overall, the most amazing surreal experience.
Amazing driver (Mohammed), he is really kind and knowledgeable. Safe driver and has helped us learn a lot about the culture. Also beautiful spots and great communication and schedule. Thankyou!
Everything was good. The organizers had a surprise for me. It was fun.
Good experience! Very nice people
We did this three-day tour in October and it truly deserves all five stars. We had the same driver, Said, for the whole trip, and he was great. The minivan was clean and the air conditioning worked. His driving was good, apart from the inevitable Moroccan-style overtakes, and we always left and arrived when we were supposed to. At the gorges and at Ait Ben Haddou, Said explained a few things before and after the visit and then let us wander on our own. Even at the argan and rose water cooperatives, where we stopped for a few dozen minutes, nobody put any pressure on us to buy. In the desert we got there in time for the camel ride at sunset, and we had plenty of time for sandboarding. The camp is a couple of kilometers from Hassilabied and it was great. Our Luxury tent had no air conditioning but was very nice, with a lovely bathroom and a double duvet on each bed, though in October one was more than enough. Quads were available for an extra fee, either in the evening after arrival or early in the morning before leaving. We skipped them. The second night we slept at the Rose Valley Hotel in Ouarzazate, as scheduled. It was clean and average, a three-star by Moroccan standards rather than European ones. The buffet dinner was quite good and we had no problems with it afterwards. On top of the tour price we spent around 50 euros per person on lunches and water. For lunch you stop at fixed-price restaurants where you can pick from five to eight menus. A 1.5L bottle of water costs 20 dirhams at the camp, the hotel and the restaurants, and the price is always clearly stated. Highly recommended, especially if you get Said.
We enjoyed our trip from Fes to Marrakesh with Desert Smile tours! The company was very well organised and communication was excellent throughout. We felt well looked after from start to finish, with no mishaps. We couldn’t make the early start on the first day, so they arranged a private driver for us (Louizi), who was great and made sure we arrived in Merzouga in time for the sunset camel ride! The Oasis camp in the desert was so good - the staff were very friendly and the food was lovely. The camp wasn’t quite as far into the desert as we’d imagined, although I guess that’s the trade-off for having such comfortable accommodation. For days 2 and 3, our driver was Mohammed, who was brilliant. He was kind and knowledgeable - we learnt so much from him along the way. He took us to some great spots for lunch. One thing to be aware of is that you spend A LOT of time driving – around 7 hours on each of the first two days and 4 hours on day 3 (this would be the same for all the tour operators though). That said, it means you get to see many different places in a short space of time, and the scenery along the way is amazing! The only real downside was the dinner at the Rose Valley hotel on the second night, which was not great. Overall, the tour is a great way to see so much of Morocco in just a few days, if you don’t mind a lot of driving!
Had a great experience on our desert tour from Fes to Marrakech. The scenery along the way was incredible, the staff we're very welcoming and friendly
So good! The glamping is amazing and amazing facilities. All the guides are super friendly. Thanks again!
Unforgettable 3-Day Desert Trip from Fes to Marrakech – with a Few Helpful Tips! We recently completed the 3-day tour from Fes to Marrakech and had an incredible experience overall. The landscapes along the way are breathtaking, and the memories we made are truly unforgettable. A massive shoutout goes to our wonderful driver, Mohammed. He was exceptionally kind, reliable, and always ready to help us with anything we needed. Thanks to him, we felt safe and well cared for throughout the entire journey! To help future travelers know what to expect, here are a few constructive notes about the itinerary and logistics: * Long driving hours: Be prepared to spend a significant amount of time in the vehicle—roughly 7 hours each day. * Day 1 Lunch Stop: The itinerary states that you stop in Midelt for lunch, but you actually stop after Midelt (it seems the online description hasn't been updated). Because many tour groups arrive at the exact same time, the restaurant was extremely crowded, the buffet was already quite picked over, and the long lines left very little time to eat. * Atlas Studios schedule: The schedule mentions visiting the Atlas Studios on Day 3, but you actually visit them on the evening of Day 2. * The Desert & Todra Gorge: The time spent in the desert was magical, though a bit short. In hindsight, we would actually prefer to add an extra day in the desert to enjoy it even longer! As for the Todra Gorge, it is very touristy with many food stalls lining the path. It’s more of a quick walk-through than a quiet, pure nature experience, but it is still nice to see. * Ait Benhaddou: This stop was an absolute highlight and is truly stunning Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would recommend it—especially if you are lucky enough to have Mohammed as your driver! Just keep these minor details in mind to best prepare for the adventure.
We had an excellent experience on this tour! The food served at dinner was delicious, and both the desert camp and the hotel were excellent, with very comfortable accommodations. But what really made this trip special was our driver, Mohamed. We experienced some unexpected challenges due to unusually heavy rainfall in the desert, but Mohamed handled everything incredibly well, making us feel safe and well taken care of throughout the journey. Beyond that, he is an extremely friendly and kind person who shared fascinating insights into Moroccan culture, making the experience even more memorable. We couldn't have asked for a better driver. Thank you, Mohamed, for making this trip so special! Highly recommended!

Amazing experience through the desert with the best guide we could have: Mohamed! Thank you!
Mohammed was brilliant. We had a great time and were very lucky have had Mohammed as our guide, who was informative, entertaining, kind and professional. Couldn’t ask for better!
It's been such a great experience. I spent the night in a private tent, which I gotta say is far better that what I imagined. Ibrahim and all of his coworkers were very heart welcoming hosts, sang with us, took us for a camelback riding and in general made this a lovely tour experience! 10/10
Our three-day, two-night Sahara Desert adventure was the most memorable & unforgettable travel experience, thanks to Mohamed! The luxury desert camp was absolutely worth it. Although officially our driver, Mohamed was so much more. His knowledge of Morocco, its history, traditions, people, and culture was extraordinary. He shared fascinating insights teaching us about Islam, the Sahara and the conservative Berber way of life. His English is spectacular and he also speaks other languages. He is accommodating, engaging, funny, and absolutely delightful to spend three days with. If you’re lucky enough to have Mohamed as your driver, you’re in for a wonderful experience! Thank you, Mohamed, for three unforgettable days!
It was my first time witnessing the Sahara, the adventure, the road trip, the picturesque views, the varied landscape, the food, the culture, the history and the colorful country and its beautiful people made it worth everything. The country blessed us with one of its greats - Mohammed, our tour guide, always attentive, fully informative, great storyteller, saved us money with his tips and a total vibe, now our friend. Played best songs, rode the smoothest and was never in a hurry, gave us proper breaks. Overall 10/10 tour, great start to our morocco trips
It was a long expected drive but Mohammed went above & beyond with his great knowledge of the area along with perfect English and patience for the group, highly recommended.
We had a great tour with Mohammed. From the pickup in Fes to the drop in Marakesh, we faced zero issues. We really enjoy Mohammed’s company and his knowledge of Morocco which he was kind enough to share with us. He made sure we were super comfortable in the long journey through the Sahara, took us to great spots for Lunch on each day, and shared his beautiful Moroccon culture with us through conversations while on the road. Thankyou Mohammed!
The trip was nice. Main and absolutely fantastic attractions: desert camp near Merzouga (stars in the sky at night and sunrise in desert - I have no words to describe the impressions!), Ait Ben Haddou, green valleys, canyon, Tizi-Tishka view point). I can’t pin out any downsides: organisation, transport, accommodation, food, guide and locations - all was wonderful. Our guide, Mohammed, helps us in every moment. He tell us about culture of his people, about life in Marocco and commutation was nice. To summarize: I hoghly recommend Desert Smile Tours like a tour organiser, and Mohammed like a guide. Thanks, guys, you’re the best!
Amazing experience from Fes to Marrakech! Our guide Mohammed truly made this 3-day trip memorable with all his insight and knowledge about the Moroccan culture and history. The camel ride in the dunes and the visit to Ait Ben Haddou were the highlights of our trip. The tour also felt a little more private, as we were 3 couples travelling with the guide at all times, making it feel more immersive. The stays were also comfortable with very good breakfasts and dinners. Don’t hesitate to book with these guys to make your trip to Morocco even more memorable
Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the desert experience, which felt very inauthentic and was absolutely not worth the money we paid. Most of the tour is spent in the car, with only a few very short sightseeing stops. The lunch stops were expensive and the food was poor, with no alternative options. The camel experience was particularly disappointing - we were on the camels for around 5 minutes, barely went into the desert, and were then left waiting until dark to ride to camp. It felt more like a commercial tourist experience than an authentic Sahara experience. The organisation was also very poor. Our 7am pickup from the desert arrived around 25 minutes late, and we were then left waiting on the side of the road for approximately 1.5 hours before finally departing around 9am two hours after schedule. We were also disappointed by the price differences between guests. We discovered that someone staying at the same accommodation had paid only 1,300 MAD, while another couple had been offered a 600 MAD refund. We contacted Desert Smiles to discuss this and request the same treatment, but after initially responding, they completely stopped replying and ignored us. The only real positive was our driver for the final two days, Said, who was absolutely wonderful, caring and genuinely went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and looked after. Unfortunately, the desert experience itself was nowhere near what we expected and did not feel worth the money at all. We would not recommend this tour.
We had a little bumpy experience when we were left without a guide for one night in Merzouga, but everything worked out in the end. The people in Merzouga took good care of us, and our guide finally picked us up in the morning. Aimad, the desert man, took great care of us for the rest of the trip, and it turned into a great experience. Thank you, Aimad, for such a nice trip. We had a great time!
Trip was awesome, at first we had little problem with Morroco global adventures company, we didnt know who will take us out from a desert, but then our driver Aimad desert man came and everything was awesome since then. That guy is fun and friendly. 😎 He warned us about scammers, shown us good places and made a lot of recommendations. 😎 Atmosphere was good, i think this trip is good for single, couples and friends.
A terrible experience. Our driver was unprofessional and made unwanted advances on a girl in our group. We got food poisoning from the dinner that was served to us in the desert. We think it was the lamb kofta. I wouldn’t recommend this experience to anybody. I would like to file a separate report on the driver because of the sexual harassment. He was also pulled over multiple times because of his erratic driving. Overall, one of the worst travel experiences.
Lots of amazing stops (the monkeys were really cool and beautiful natural scenery the whole drive) on the way to the highlight - the beautiful and peaceful Sahara, the food and tent were great too. Big thanks to the two drivers/guides, Mohammed and Louzi who did an amazing job. A+.
Our 3 day journey from Fez to Marrakech with Imad—the "Man of the Desert"—was a wonderful, unforgettable experience. Imad was an excellent driver and guide; he was patient, respectful, and helpful throughout the trip. He made us feel safe and comfortable while introducing us to the most beautiful places and scenery along the way—especially the desert, Merzouga, the valleys, and the mountains. The trip was more than just a transfer from Fez to Marrakech; it was a genuine experience of discovering Morocco, its culture, and its natural beauty. Thank you, Imad, for your kindness, your smile, and your patience throughout the journey. I highly recommend traveling with Imad—the "Man of the Desert"—to anyone wishing to explore Morocco!
We had a wonderful three-day trip from Fes to Marrakech with Imad desert man , a true man of the desert. Imad was a professional and incredibly patient driver; he was always attentive to our comfort and safety, ensuring the journey went as smoothly as possible. During the trip, we faced some challenges due to the behavior of a fellow traveler, which fell short of our expectations. Throughout it all, however, Imad remained calm, respectful, and patient, doing his utmost to maintain a positive atmosphere and ensure we had an enjoyable experience. We thank Imad for his patience, professionalism, and excellent demeanor. It was a beautiful journey from Fes to Marrakech; we would be delighted to travel with him again and highly recommend him to anyone wishing to discover Morocco and the desert in a special way.
Highly recommend this trip! The stops were really well thought out, giving you a good general view of the culture and landscapes of the culture. We are especially thankful to our driver Mohamed, who was always very generous, knowledgeable and kind; he made this trip very special. Thank you for everything!
My experience with Mohammed as our Driver was beyond exceptional! He is friendly, outgoing, of service in every way. His knowledge of culture, geography, history and religion was shared with passion and depth. We had three young couple and myself to take care of. 6 different countries, multiple languages and various worldly viewpoints were all in a van traveling hundred of miles to stop at points of interest along the way. We were never encouraged to buy locally, but the places we stopped had items of local quality to purchase. We began the trip as strangers but with his passion for his country, his open personality and broad perspective, Mohammed found a way to create the space for us to all become friends! He even arranged to have a birthday cake at our hotel dinner for one our ladies to celebrate. The camp we stayed in for our Camel ride and night in the Desert was clean, well organized and reacted to guests needs with kindness and urgency. The Dinner and Breakfast was fresh, tasty and well balanced. The drive thru the Atlas Mountains provided wonderful views, stops at small towns to experience their local economy, and opportunities to learn about the Caspahs, Riads, and village life The trip was just perfect!
The 3 day tour is great and full of attractive stops! This is not only a transport from Fes to Merzouga desert and then Marrakesh … each of the days we had a number of interesting stops (historical, cultural, nature, touristic)! The camel riding was great, the desert camp was like a fairytale and the Kasbah was amazing in just so many ways! Special thanks to the tour guide Mohammed who was incredible! He really made the trip special! He is a very nice and friendly guy, his english is very good and he drives very comfortably! Also he is very knowledgable and a great story teller! He was explaining in depth about all the places we visited, always had a couple of interesting facts and stories to attract attention, and was obviously going the extra mile to make the trip as pleasant and interesting as possible! I wish all tour guides were like him!
We had the pleasure of being with mohamed. He went the extra mile the whole time. Had some super fun conversations, his knowledge on morrocco was impressive and overall a great person. He was great guide/driver, felt safe the whole time
Our 3-day desert trip was one of the highlights of our entire journey through Morocco. The landscapes were breathtaking, the desert was magical, and the whole experience is something we will remember for a lifetime. A huge part of what made this trip so special was our driver, Mohamed. He was absolutely wonderful – kind, friendly, patient and always attentive. During the long drives, he told us so much about Morocco, its culture, traditions and everyday life, which made the journey itself incredibly interesting. Mohamed also took us to many fascinating places along the way and showed us sides of Morocco that we probably would never have discovered on our own. We always felt comfortable and safe with him, and by the end of the trip, it felt like we were travelling with a friend rather than just a driver. The Sahara itself was unforgettable – the dunes, the camel ride, the sunset and the night in the desert were simply magical. Thank you, Mohamed, for making our journey so special! ❤️ We couldn’t have asked for a better driver and guide. Highly recommended!
An unforgettable 3 day tour made all the more memorable by our driver/ guide Mohamed. Super professional but also friendly, helpful and thoughtful. We learned a great deal about Morocco and the Berber culture with a lot of fun along the way. Highly recommend.
Mohammed was an excellent driver. He was friendly, professional and extremely informative. He ensured that we were comfortable at all times and our every need was met. Travelling with him meant that we learnt a great deal about the country and its cultures. The transportation was comfortable and the meals and accommodation were very good. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough but be sure to get Mohammed as your driver to ensure a unique experience.
Our driver Mohammed was incredibly knowledgeable, fun and friendly. We saw so much of the country and felt really immersed. We made many interesting stops along the route. The accommodation both nights was really comfortable and camping in the desert was a unique experience. We would highly recommend this trip for getting to know Morocco. It was so well organised and was good to be with a local who could answer our questions. An unforgettable experience.
Excellent way of seeing a lot of Morocco and Mohammed our driver was exceptional. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Mohammed was amazing! So knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend
What an unforgettable experience with Mohammed. Such a knowledgeable, personable, friendly guide who set the bar for all other tours. Thank you for everything Mohammed!
This tour was unforgettable thanks to our knowledge, friendly and down to earth guide Mohammed. From the beginning of our trip in Fes all the way to Marrakech, Mohammed shared his extensive knowledge of the area which really made the tour an enjoyable experience. It was a truly remarkable tour and we made some fantastic memories with the best group of people!
I loved being under the night sky in the merzouga desert. Everyone was soo nice and friendly and each stop. Our tour guide Mohammed was outstanding was very easy to talk with and was extremely knowledgeable about everything on the tour and passing.
It was an amazing 3-day experience, especially because of Mohammad. He was a great guide and gave great insights into local culture, customs, and history. I would absolutely recommend this company and definitely Mohammad being your tour guide. He definitely made the experience better with great conversation!
The tour was amazing. What really set the whole tone for our experience was our driver and tour guide - Mohammed. The three-days was just the right amount of time to travel from Fes to Marrakech for my wife and me. Each day presented different special memories and it was great to have the camel ride on day 1 of the excursion. It was unfortunate there was a sand storm in the evening, so we didn’t get to see the sunset. The air-conditioning room option is a MUST! The second day through the gorges was interesting to see; however the last day from Ouarzazate to Marrakech we experienced the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah was the cherry on top for us!!! Some tips are one should take about 600 dirham or 60 euros *cash* per person for the whole trip for lunches, water, tips, etc as credit cards are not always welcomed. The fact that the trip ended in Ouarzazate made the rise to the top over other trips as it made our visit to Ait Ben Haddou leisurely allowing us to explore, take photos and buy some souvenirs. All in all, there is a must-do excursion with Sesert Smile Tours using **Mohammed**. This excursion was the only one I could find that guaranteed a atay over in Ouarzazate versus staying in Dades which would create a “drive-by” experience at Ait Ben Haddou. My wife’s and my recommendations: Company (Desert Smile Tours), Driver/Guide (Mohammed), Camel Tent (Air conditioning), Day 2 overnight (Ouarzazate), bring plenty of *cold* drinking water (a thermos is best), snacks and 60 euros per person for meals, snacks, small souvenirs, and tips..

Hamdi is very nice.気配りが効いていました。
The 3 days in the desert were an amazing experience with a Big variety of beautiful landscapes in the desert. Mohammed was an amazing Tour Guide with his great knowledge about all the places and taught us a lot about moroccan culture.
