An ideal first foray into the trails around El Chaltén, this accessible and scenic hike begins at the end of Avenida San Martín and winds through a low forest of ñire trees toward Provincial Route 41. The ever-changing trailside vegetation delights at every season — look out for the delicate Magellanic orchid among the wildflowers. The destination is a beautiful waterfall that transforms dramatically with the seasons, freezing into a spectacular curtain of ice on the coldest winter days when temperatures plunge to -20°C.
