The boat was huge so I was worried we would not be close but the boat went up really close to the penguins and sea lions and we had a good view.

Itinerary
On this unique adventure from El Calafate, travelers will enjoy an unforgettable day exploring Monte León National Park — the only park in Argentina that combines sea, coast, and steppe. The day begins early aboard a 4x4 Overland vehicle, crossing the Patagonian steppe and spotting native wildlife such as guanacos, rheas, and foxes. Upon arrival at the park, guests will take a walk among Magellanic penguins to a viewpoint overlooking the cliffs. Next, the journey continues by 4x4 along the trail leading to the iconic rock formation known as “Lion’s Head” and the sea lion colony, where these magnificent animals can be observed in their natural habitat. The excursion then proceeds to the Monte León Island viewpoint, home to large colonies of cormorants and seabirds. As the sun sets, the return journey begins, offering one last chance to admire the vast Patagonian landscape. A complete experience of nature, wildlife, and adventure in an extraordinary setting.

Very nice guide and the front desk staff. one day excellent experience.
You’ll spend about 9 hours in a bus; 4 on unpaved roads. Our guide offered very little in terms of information or context. He was a nice person, but a poor guide. The sea lions were seen only from a far, so disappointing. The penguins were amazing.
i do like the active tourist guide who did an amazing job. i also like the service staff for booking who helped me a lot to make the booking.
Though advertised obliquely as a 4x4 adventure, this trip was by high-clearance 32-seat truck. Nontheless, it proved appropriate for the 400 km drive diectly east from El Calafate, across morraine shingle and scrub. This journey provided a spectacular introduction to the unique Patagonian Steppe. The return trip, along sealed roads, was over 550 km and somewhat arduous. However, what disappointed was the penguin colony at Monte Leon. Supposedly 40,000 pairs of nesting birds, but aside from one or two individual stragglers, we couldn't get anywhere near them; and nor the sea lions! On top of this, the performance of the translator was poor throughout - Spanish spoken for 5-10 mins at a time, with just a couple of paragraphs in English then thrown in from time to time. I don't object to practicing my rudimentary Spanish, but for English-speaking travellers who have selected this aspect specifically - inaedquate and a let-down for an otherwise exciting experience.
This was a well-organized tour which I don’t think is for everyone. The bus was great, modern Mercedes bus with excellent WiFi which is important given lack of data outside El Calafete. There’s a tiny bathroom in the bus. Comfortable seats. Guide was very friendly, spoke excellent Spanish and English. He provided us with details of the tour and made sure we’re all ok and satisfied. Keep in mind the tour took 14.5 to 15 hours, with at least 10 hours on the road (5 hours each way). You make 1 stop to relax on the way there. Most of the roads are void of human life but have many animals to see around. Beautiful nature. They provided us with a bag with many snacks, also unlimited water. To see the penguins you’d have to walk 2.5 kilometers each way, flat mostly so not too bad. First stop at a restaurant for coffee or snacks was about 7 hours after tour started but again you have a large snack bag and a small bathroom on the bus. On the road to Monte Leon you’d have to take a gravel road which is bumpy and very loud that I could barely hear the guide talk even when he was using the microphone. Overall very long tour but very special especially if you want to see penguins and like the nature and want to relax. I recommend this company.
This was such a great experience and way to see Patagonia! They picked us up from the airport and dropped us off at our hotel. We went on two tours with Patagonia Chic during our time in El Calafate. The first one we went on was to Monte Leon National Park to see sea lions and penguins. Juan was our guide and he was very knowledgable about history of the area and information about penguins, sea lions and other birds! The second tour was to see the Perito Moreno Glacier. We did the balconies walk and boat tour and it was all incredible. Overall, Patagonia Chic made the experience significantly easier to navigate. I can't recommend them enough!
The service provided by PatagóniaChic was excellent. I recommend speaking with Tomi. It was simply five-stars. Speak with Tomi. You will not regret it.
I was an amazing experience seeing all the wild life on the back road: we were the only people on this road with a big J jeep 4x4 - guanaco, fox, penguin, sea lion, horse, sheep, rabbit, condor, seagle and many other kinds of birds golgech (part of ostrich. We saw these wild life on high way and penguin and bird in Monte Leon.
Well performed tour and well organized pick up from a hotel. Nice addition is the airport pick up service upon arrival El Calafate
We got to get really close to loads of penguins. Saw them nesting and looking after their eggs. A totally different experience to just seeing them from the boat.
We had a great time with Juan leading the trip. It’s a long drive there and back, but the opportunity to see the steppe and penguins is worth it. The penguin walk is very cool, thousands of penguins. Some dead due to the puma practicing hunting and other natural causes but it really adds to the experience of a raw and natural argentine coast. It’s worth the haul if you appreciate nature and penguins!!!
Very long, bumpy ride on very nice 4 wheel drive bus. Walking was relatively flat and easy. It was worth it to see the penguins in their own environment! The sea lions were a bonus! It is a very, very long day. lunch was great!
Todo muy bien, puntuales y responsables.
The guide was a sweetheart, super fun and knowledgeable about the penguins and other fauna and flora of the region. I loved it! The bus is comfortable, has a bathroom, and the food is super delicious.
Excellent experiences, the guides and drivers were 100000, the company's willingness was great
Serious and responsible company. Responds quickly via WhatsApp. It met all expectations. I did the mini-trekking on all glaciers and extreme 4x4 adventure.
Everything excellent, I recommend them 100%
Be careful with this company. Their advertising is extremely misleading, they sell things that they later do not honor, they are riddled with fine print that tells you it is your fault for not reading when the title of the expedition they sold you says one thing but they do not offer it and they refuse to make changes or refunds. On top of all this, the customer service is rude and lacks any desire to solve things. Andrea and Tomás treated us very badly. Look for other options.
Excellent excursions and the attention of the guides, especially Ruth and Marcos when we went to Chaltén on 07/04/26
Excellent tour !!! Amazing tour guide and accompanying photographers An unforgettable morning
The tour is very nice, we really liked it. I understand they're tour operators, I mean they don't own the catamaran. The web shopping experience is very good and if I recommend them as tour operators
I really expected more , in my opinion it is too long a journey that is not worth what you do and see when you arrive, the guide did not make it enjoyable either. The weather didn’t help for the supposed stops and sightings during the trip either, so we had a lot of miles per pointless pike. Too bad I lost a day. I do not recommend this excursion to Monte Leon, it should be noted that I did another excursion with this company and it was a nice experience,
Thanks to Patagonia Chic for her excellent work, during the excursion to Monte León 4x4 Wolves and Penguins, excellent guide Viviana with driver Fernando. Very comfortable overlander, and very rich snack. Wonderful experience to know these natural scenarios guided by you.
A beautiful experience! It is a long trip on ripio for the first leg that luckily having such a cupid guide became super enjoyable, the foods they give you are very good, the transport in which they take you is super comfortable, although it is long for both the way and the return, when you arrive and see the penguins so close (you have them less than 20 cm) you feel that everything was worth it. Very happy with this experience and especially very happy with the tour by the guide and driver, very friendly and cupid. I recommend if they like penguins as much as I do that I almost start crying when I saw the first one:)
Excellent guided tour by Virginia. That was us explaining everything
I made the tour to Monte Léon with Patagonia Chic and everything was perfect. The 4x4 vehicle has bathroom, Wi-Fi, cell phone charger. The agency was punctual about the search in the hotels. And about the excursion: it is a long route inside the vehicle, the trail (Sendero pinguinera) is easy and well marked, you will see penguins walking next to you and you will be able to observe them on the beach. They are beautiful scenery on the way: Patagonian steppe, many guanacos and ending in the beaches. For those who tolerate long trips and appreciate watching wildlife, I recommend!
The travel distance and tongue. But for those who want to meet a penguin is worth it.
I love it. The Virginia guide a total genius. Truck is a luxury and epic food
Excellent experience to know Patagonia in its maximum expression. Live flora and fauna: today I could see from flamingos, ducks, albatrosses, guanacos, hares, Patagonian wildebeest, etc.
The guide deserves 5 stars , she is new but very attentive and friendly , explains every detail and historical ! the trip was long , but it is worth it also deserves 5 stars! The landscape is magnificent in the middle of Patagonia ! very guanaco guanaco .... We know the life of penguins face to face and much more! The vehicle has internet that makes me happier kkk!
Beautiful experience for a moment of adventure with the boys! The guide did his great job and also the snack/lunch break was amazing! Very good
Excellent service in every sense: guides, food and organization. From the company, always attentive and attentive to every detail, looking for the best for one. More than recommended. The experience was magnificent.
Very long road but the pinguinos were worth it;-) Proximity while being safe for the species. We really liked it. We wish we could stop seeing the Guanacos on the road.
They have excellent service. Guides, cars, food, organization. Highly but highly recommended.
an excellent experience , the park of Monte Leon is magnificent ! worth every cent . Patagonia chic company very responsible and quality .
Take the mini trekinig and Gourmet Glaciers tour with Patagonia Chic. Rent the boots for trekking and food for both excursions. Everything, everything was excellent, the activities, the administrative service, the quick answers to the e mial, the punctuality, the guide (Ruth), the food. Even the boots (which I recommend renting for the mini ice trekking trip if they don’t have their own) seemed new, the size I ordered was boys and they changed them at the time. I will definitely recommend it and if I go back south I would hire other excursions with them. Thank you!!!!
Excellent experience at all times. The decreserva service provided by Romina has been very good. The ride has been impressive and our guide, Cecilia, gave us a lot of useful information, as well as infecting us with her sympathy and professionalism. Everything worked as announced and on time. Highly recommended the Patagonia Cic service and this experience with sailing on the glacier!
The experience was magnificent, throughout the tour we got to know about the fauna of the area and finally we could reach the penguin and see the baby penguins, a lovely experience 🥰. The quality of the super good care, the guides were very friendly 😊
Charming places in nature, full of wild native animals, all super well kept, minimal human impact, a beautiful job to recover the natural habitats of penguins and sea lions! Spectacular, competent and fun re guide, Virginia the best we found! Super driver and truck re well fixed!
It was an amazing experience, although the weather was not the best, the guide took us to all the points of interest and explained everything in detail. Very good service. We must take into account that if it is many hours of travel but worth it.
We made 2 trips with Patagonia Chic: 1. Monte Leon and 2. Perito Moreno. Right from the start, communication with Mariana and the team via WhatsApp was excellent. All questions were answered very quickly and in great detail. During the airport transfer, the individual points were reviewed again together. The excursions were each conducted excellently: Vicky (Monte Leon) and Diana (Perito Moreno) are great guides who have carried out the tours with a lot of commitment and joy. We received a lot of information and felt very comfortable and safe on the rides. Packed lunches are very carefully addressed to food allergies. We would book Patagonia Chic again and again.
The Vicki guide is the best of all! She's a genius with a lot of information and grace. We were fed almost the entire trip, breakfast, lunch, snacks and internet!
Excellent Service, from meeting in the office to the tour as such. The guides, especially Vicky, are spectacular. Its tourism infrastructure is very well designed, respecting places and people. The vehicles were in very good condition and clean. Very good company, 100% recommended
Excellent excursion, we were guided by Virginia, and a total genius, did everything, explained everything and had incredible energy, whatever they pay is not enough lol. The vehicle was also spotless and all the food the same, exceeded our expectations.
All the beautiful excursions excellent attention of the guides super recommended Calafate night tour can not miss it is amazing. Glacier expert brown walkways must see everything is beautiful!!!!
Wonderful excursion and great attention from the staff especially Juan A little far away but an unforgettable experience
Excellent experiences, and handling of the times, we ordered the gourmet vianda and it was very good, hot bondiola sandwich
The great excursion from the start until I finish. Despite starting well early, Ariel our guide put all the good vibes and made the trip to the Park very pleasant. Fully recommended!
