The closest wilderness expedition to El Calafate, this full-day adventure penetrates the southern reaches of Los Glaciares National Park via Route 15 — the historic estancia road. From Lago Roca, board a boat and cruise the southern arm of Lago Argentino to an untouched landing point. From here, trek to Lago Frías, cross it by motorized rubber boat, and hike onward into a breathtaking glacier valley rich with ancient ice formations. The journey culminates at the natural amphitheater of Glaciar Grande, where lunch is served with views of the Cube and Dickson Glaciers.
The return journey follows Route 15, with mate shared among fellow travelers and a Patagonian sunset to close the day.
