Well organized trip. We had good explanation about El Chaten and Patagonia. We wish we stooped to take photos on animals like Rhea. Tobias was clear in explanation in English. He switched back and forth since we were the only ones spoke English. I wish we had more time for trekking at El Chaltén. Nicely done.

Reviews
Both the Perito Mereno Glacier tour and El Chalten tour by Patagonia Dreams were excellent. The tour guide was fantastic, very informative and great management of tourists with various languages. I would highly recommend this tour.
The best part of this tour is the drive through Patagonia to get to the walking areas. Lots of wildlife and you get to stop about halfway at the Hotel La Leona (lots of history at the hotel, i.e, Butch Cassidy was here in 1905, along with coffee and snacks). Our tour guide was Veronica, very nice young woman. One of the walks includes an ascent of about 1000 feet, so you need to be in at least moderate shape if you want to go to the top of the hill. Nothing much to see in the town of El Chalten, especially after the season when we went (most stores and restaurants are closed). But, if you want to see guanacos, this is the drive to take!
Excellent tour guide and business driver. Very informative tour, beautiful scenery, excellent hike/walk. Tour guide was very attention during hike. We would highly recommend this tour.
It rained the whole day in El Chantén, spoiling the view and the experience. The guide was excellent and explained a lot about Patagonia on the way to El Chantén.
I had been unsure whether to do this trip based on other reviews. It was a really good day out and I'm glad I did it. The guides were great. Saw a condor flying, lots of guanacos, and the weather gave good views of Mt Fitz Roy. But, equally, if you're short on time, don't feel you've missed too much by skipping it - prioritise the glacier(s) first.
Terrible experience for this trip, the trip should have us to see the Fitz Roy mountain and also from the road view, but this is not happening.
The guide seem to really enjoy what she's doing - with the very long drive, she has provided relevant information and explained sights and animals we see en route. It was however a very long drive - I visited early July and was lucky enough to have seen Fitz Roy. The trek to Mirador Los Condores was fairly easy. We were not able to visit the falls as advertised because of the thick snow. The lunch was okay. As it was the low season, not a lot of shops or stores were open in El Chalten. I am still rating this very good because I was able to see Fitz Roy clearly which was my wish for booking this tour.
The weather was perfect so could enjoy the trip very much. Two dots for even a better tour. - Should re-think about the lunch time, since a lot of souvenir shops were closed from 13:00-16:00 and could not do shopping at El Chalten. - Picking up at so many hotels were a bit frustrating, took about an hour to pick up all the tour guests. Should narrow down the picking up area.
An okay excursion to El Chalten but only a couple of short walks rather than actual treks. Guide (Camilla) was helpful and informative. Probably too much time spent in El Chalten at the end of the excursion. Decent price and value for the trip but probably better options if you want to do longer treks.
It was a great hiking trip! The first hiking was not too hard, beautiful scenery from the top. Also second hiking to the beautiful waterfall was very flat and easy. Our tour guide Alexia was so nice and made our trip really special!
I was a little hesitant at first booking this trip because of the negative reviews about the length of time in vehicle. The ride was not bad at all. When you're exploring a remote area, you have to take into account travel time. The hike up to see the condors soaring was a challenge, and I was the last one 🕐 n our group up. Just wish I had more time to take lots of pictures and soak up the grandness of it all. Our guide was ready to go back down after we just got there. The van we had was filled to capacity and not every seat had equal comfort ie. The seats over the wheel . After waterfall trek and viewing, we were let go in town for lunch, then back home. A full day, but worth it.
One of the best rides I´ve done in life! The most beautiful landscapes from the bus window! I definetely recommend this trip. From the bus driver to the guides, the people in Él Chaltém, the place... everything is a dream!
I want to start off by saying the tour guide was really sweet and did a lot to make this trip fun. However, this just seemed like a huge waste of money because we did 2 very small hikes that you could do on your own. If you have even 5 minutes, just find a bus to El Chaltén and look up the 2 most famous hikes and you’ll save yourself a lot of time. This came with lunch which allowed you to choose between 3 options which were all mediocre. We had 2.5 hours to eat and walk around town but all the stores were closed for siestas so there was literally nothing to do. The bus ride was crammed and took so long, with every other car on the road passing us (even busses twice the size)
Beautiful mountain, fresh air, some trekking. And to see many many condors in their own environment.
Alexia was knowledgeable, bilingual and participated in the tour, e.g., hiking, as well as ensuring every one on the tour was accounted for and accommodated. Sebastian (driver) was efficient, safe and friendly, which on a long tour is good to know and not be concerned.
Great views, tasty food, nice trekking and the waterfall was espectacular… everything on point. Tobias was an excellent and pacient guide.
Great trip but weather was not the best so views of El Chalten not very good. Our guide definitely looked out for us. If you bring your own lunch nowhere to eat if raining. We ate our own lunch in a restaurant and bought a beer. Awkward! You are dropped off for lunch in a place with no shopping. You have one hour ish. for lunch. We also took a short hike to a Waterfall which was amazing! We definitely got wet! But, it’s just water! . Wear layers and bring rain gear just in case.
An excellent day with Tobias and Nico!! The stop for ice cream (gelato) at Domo Blanco was a sweet way to end a wonderful day!!
For a day trip to El Chalten I think that most goals were accomplished. I think that the stop at La Leona should have been shorter. I would have liked to be able to take a photo of the mountains well before the viewpoint t outside El Chalten ( somewhat like the photograph advertising the excision). I also think that one should have been given the option for a hike to Laguna Capri instead of going to the waterfall and having lunch in town although time could have been an issue. Possibly those interested in that hike could be dropped off first on arrival to El Chalten and then they could do the Condor mirador by themselves if they have time after the hike to the lagoon.
Great area to visit. Guide just okay. Could have been more responsive to questions on the bus. Beautiful views of Fitz Roy!
We had the best time at this relaxed and informative excursion! Tobias was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide and Henry a great bus driver. Our recommendation: bring some snacks along because the lunch break does not start before around 2pm.
The trip was great with a helpful and knowledgeable guide. This trip is available locally at less than half the price charged. Book when you get there.
Just came back from being in a bus for 11 hours, with hardly no knowledge of what went on, the tour guide could hardly speak English, there was no information as to what the day entailed, and the comentary was almost all in Spanish with the occasional broken English. No mention of Fitz Roy at any point, we were let off the bus at certain times, but not allowed to explore on our own, not told any information, a few of the other English speakers had no idea either with one couple asking at the end, when would they see Mount Fitz Roy! Poor Tour Guide, - left feeling dissatisfied and a waste of day, when you travel half way round the world for an experience and all you get is cramp from sitting down almost all day!
We booked with a trekking, but there was no possibility to hike by yourself, only to little walks, but not the promised walk to Laguna Capri!
Unfortunately this was the biggest let down on our trip to Patagonia. Based on the description, we were under the impression we would have 5 free hours to do as we please in El Chalten (in our case, to hike). It wasn’t until we were 1.5 hours in to the drive that we were told this wasn’t the case and we were stuck in a structured day with the group (which consisted of just a short 1.9mi easy hike and lunch). Had the tour company let us know in advance, we would’ve canceled and driven to El Chalten ourselves as the ONLY reason we were willing to make the long trip was to hike. We had to sit on a bus for 6 hours total just to take a simple walk and eat lunch. It was such a waste of an entire day when we didn’t have any time to spare on our trip. To make matters worse, I reached out to the tour provider via WhatsApp and all they told me was they stopped offering the long hike option (even though the description still shows it). No apology or offer to remedy the situation and then they simply stopped writing me back. Very big waste of time and money, I would not recommend this to anyone. Head to El Chalten on your own terms and enjoy the many things it has to offer that are not provided with this trip.
Tracking was short and not very much exciting. Trip took us a small water falls which was just to kill time. In my opinion they could arrange a more spectacular hiking trail.
We were looking for a way to travel to El Chalten with limited time in El Calafate. This is the perfect overview of this part of Patagonia for those on a tight schedule. The two hikes were pretty basic, but the views are absolutely worth the drive!
A mediocre tour of El Chalten. It was a very relaxed tour and both the “hikes” were more like 20 minute nature walks. Also, our guide spoke 90% in Spanish and 10% in English. For the price, it is still not a bad tour but there is probably higher quality ones available. We also did not buy the lunch option and just got lunch in town which was fine.
After having spent a day viewing the glaciers near El Califate, the six hour travel to El Chalten to view the peaks was not really worth the effort.
It was a beautiful tour. The guide was excellent giving information not only in Spanish but also on English. He gave us as much information as possible, and was excellent in respects.
While the bus ride from El Calafate to El Chalten is quite long, the tour guide provided information on the history and geography of Patagonia and El Chalten to make the experience more in depth and interesting . The trekking is not difficult (I accomplished the trekking over quite slippery snow) and provides views of charming natural features and a heart stopping view point of the impressive Mt. Fitz Roy. If you are looking for a proper bit of adventure in El Calafate, look no further!
It was a nice tour, introduction to Patagonia. We were lucky with the good weather and clear skies. We saw all the famius mountains in all their beauty. Time well spent. This company was very accomodating and picked me up later than scheduled due to my flight slight delay. I would suggest to irder your own lunch though.
Overall is OK but felt bit disappointed because not able to trek to laguna capri as described in the tour! But the price paid.
Was worried when I booked this trip that it would be too long . We were picked up at 07:30 from our hotel . The coach was very comfortable and the lady guide who’s name I can’t remember now gave a full itinerary in both excellent English as well as Spanish . The journey to el Calafate was around 3 hours but that included a short stop at la leone for refreshments. You were given a choice of what to do in el chalten , we opted for the self guided walk up to Laguna capri . We were given excellent instructions on where to go and exactly how long it should take . The scenery at Laguna capri and the view of Fitzroy was breathtaking, one of the greatest experiences of my life . The whole day in took just under 12 hours . Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to explore Patagonia from el Calafate . Great communications from the tour operator before and during the trip
We had a fantastic day at El Chatén. Rebecca was our tour guide and she explained everything we needed to know. The weather was unusually clear we were told for this time of year, which meant we had unobstructed views of the mountains and a beautiful hike to the lookouts.
This experience was amazing. If you’re staying in El Calafate and only have time for a day trip to El Chalten, then it is perfect. Amazing scenery, and the short hike to Laguna Capri was breath-taking. Our guide Carla was friendly and informative!
Our tour guide and driver was amazing— they made the tour the best! The adventure was perfect for us. There was enough time to peacefully see and do everything we wanted. I appreciated the options for a harder or easier tour. We saw condors— seemed like they put on a show for us. The waterfall is not to be missed. Would definetly recommend this tour.
Hiking to lago capri was great, took 1hr 15min (have bad knees so I wanted go slow going down) to reach the lake even thou tour guide gave us 4hrs to meet again after the hike.
Well-organized, full day tour which gave us the opportunity to see the beautiful scenery including Mount Fitzroy (in the distance). This tour is a good introduction to El Chalten especially if you're staying in the town, and if you're limited in time for sightseeing. The hikes were manageable for my husband (aged 74) and myself (age 67). The paths were not overly steep. The bus drivers were kind and our guide(s) were knowledgeable, and courteous. We were quite pleased with this day trip.
The bus was comfortable with some great views. Our guide was great. I am not a physically fit person so I chose the waterfall and mirador walk. The mirador Walk was not unchallenging. About 30 mins incline but my group moved at an ok pace and I felt comfortable to take breaks. The view was nice but I probably wouldn’t do the tour again. Good to do if you have nothing else planned some day but not a Must-see, in my opinion.
Tour guide English not the best so missed out on some info and ended up in confusions. But what’s great is that you do get an option to do a short walk or a long 4 hour walk to the Lagune and see Fitz Roy close up. It’s a relatively easy to moderate walk if you are reasonably fit so I highly recommend you take that option - well worth the beautiful views on the way!
This excursion was a great taste of El Chaltén. My husband and I were picked up at our hotel around 7am, and after making the rounds to other area hotels, we departed for the ~2 hour drive to El Chaltén. There was a stop after about 1.5 hours for food, bathrooms, and to stretch our legs. The next stop was at a sign for Los Glaciares national park, with a scenic view of Mount Fitzroy, just for pictures, which was about 5 minutes. After that, we headed for a short hike to a waterfall, which was about 1km and completely flat. There seemed to be some different excursions aboard our same bus and some people left the group at this point. The waterfall was nice and refreshing and enjoyable, but not the reason we went in this day trip. Next, it was a short drive to another short hike. This one, Mirador de Los Condores, was not flat, though not challenging either. You get spectacular views of the jagged peaks of Patagonia nearly the whole way, with several asking the way. I’d recommend going a little farther up past the main viewpoint to take in the panorama in a little more solitude. After that, we drive through the town and we’re given a little more than an hour to wander in our own and have lunch, before meeting up at the town sign (which had been pointed out) to drive back to El Calafate. Some people also prebooked lunch with the guide at this point. I can’t speak to their experience, but there were plenty of restaurants to choose from and it was nice to walk through the town at our own pace. This was a great introduction to El Chaltén and certainly left me wanting more. I would have loved to hike much closer to Mount Fitzroy and enjoy the nearby lake, but obviously time is a factor and that just wasn’t going to be possible on a day trip. This allowed us to see a lot of beautiful scenery and get in a bit of movement, but it’s not a particularly active day. I’d recommend this to anyone staying in El Calafate who want to see those classic jagged peaks, but if I were doing it again, I would probably choose to spend at least a couple of days in El Chaltén itself for a more in-depth experience.
It was a long day from El Calafate but truly worth it. So much to see. I only just made it back to the bus. A bit late. The lunch box not to my liking. I would have preferred 2 cold enpanadas than the enormous bread 🍞
Booked Laguna los tres from calafate. Was supposed to be unguided. Instead they sent us w/ another company that was fully guided, showed up an hour late (5am wake up). Guide immediately said we’re not going to top bc we got there late and was windy. But every other person we saw was going to the top. instead we did the 16km route that was flat + boring with only views of Fitzroy (beautiful but not worth it) When we complained, they ignored all of my messages. Meanwhile the other company they pushed us too replied immediately so nicely and offered to take us for free the next day but we only had one day in calafate so we couldn’t.
The tour was nice, we had a nice view on the way and a lot of explanation from the guide. When we booked the description said that we would have the opportunity to choose between having a hike on our own or go with the guide to some miradors, but the guide did not mention the option of the solo hike until us and some other people asked if it was possible, which I found a bit weird.
The tour bus was late. I paid for lunch and ended up getting a meat sandwich when I mentioned I was vegetarian, so I did not have lunch. They gave us very limited information about the place and the tour guide was not very approachable. They gave us a few hours to do the trek to Fitz Roy. This was stressful because i didn't get to enjoy the trek as much as I'd like to and didn't have enough time to do the 10k trek, but rather just the 4k.
Our guide Gringo is an amazing fellow. View from the Laguna Capri is very beautiful. People around the park full of great energy. I recommend.
Great information from our guide (Martin), especially visual aides, made long drive better. Lunch not great, bring your own if possible. Hike was exactly as described. This may be the windiest place on earth. It is usually cloudy, so very rare to actually see the peaks. Overall great day trip.
Long trip to reach the town of El Chaltén with lots of small restaurants and stores. A quick, not too strenuous walk up a small mountain finally gave us the opportunity to have a view of El Chalten, a snowy mountain (November trip) which from afar seemed small. An overall long ride that mainly gave us the opportunity to view the Patagonian desert. The cost of the trip was fair, and we mainly considered it transportation, as the tour guide didn't say much, let alone Gastón, the bus driver.
