Itinerary
Your adventure begins with hotel pickup in El Calafate. Meet your guide and travel by 4WD toward the legendary Route 40, crossing the vast Patagonian steppe on the way to the Santa Cruz River.
Travel along one of Argentina's most iconic highways while enjoying panoramic views of the Patagonian landscape. Your guide will share stories about the region's history, geology, and wildlife before reaching the river. After a safety briefing and kayaking instruction, begin a 15 km (9-mile) downstream paddle on the Santa Cruz River, the same waterway explored by Charles Darwin during his voyage through Patagonia. Along the way, admire striking geological formations, fossil remains, native birdlife, and the untouched scenery that inspired one of history's greatest naturalists.
Finish your kayaking adventure at Estancia Río Bote, where you'll enjoy a well-earned lunch by the river in a peaceful Patagonian setting before returning to El Calafate. Relax on the drive back to your hotel after a full day of adventure, nature, and unforgettable Patagonian landscapes.
