Pick up was super easy in the morning and we went to the ranch where we met our horses and headed out into the hills with 2 guides. Fahku (sp?) speaks great English which made communicating very easy. He told us a bit about the estate we rode through and about each of our horses. Some of our group were novice riders so we walked only although one of our group had a bit of a canter later on. We were given soup and a lentil stew after with stunning backdrop views then were driven back into El Calefate and dropped off at our hotels. A lively day out. Thank you

Wonderfull tour! Very beginner friendly and amazing views, not too far from El Calafate & good+fun gides (who speak English!!!)
An amazing experience riding through beautiful landscape with brilliant guides. A great way to see some of the country. Would highly recommend.
Great views riding through the ranch, guides were lovely and the horses were very well trained.
Facu and Lucas were amazing guides. It was a beautiful ride up the hill to see Lake Argentino and even a peep of the back of the Torres del Paine peaks. Thanks again guys!
Facu and Lucas were the best guides. The ride was scenic and tranquil. You could see the mountain ranges and the lake from the farm lands. The horses were also extremely patient and calm animals.
Facu and Lucas was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They were great tour guides as our horses walked around and pointed out different landmarks. I had an an enjoyable and relaxing experience.
Facu is a very good guide, he knows a lot of information and is very friendly.
Great experience with nice horses and a great guide. We enjoyed it a lot and would recommend!
A special experience. The tour operator is the owner of a vast and beautiful ranch with views of snow peaked mountains and Lake Argentina. They have hundreds of horses - the gentle ones are chosen for tours and they look happy and healthy. The guides were amazing. Everything felt very safe and relaxed. I would come back to Calafate just for this. The three course lunch was nice and hearty as well.
A lovely day, our guide Facu was brilliant, Matteo and Dante were excellent too, and the horses were very calm. The food was tasty too, I’d definitely recommend
Very peaceful ride and beautiful scenery. Food was good as well.
I very much enjoyed this tour. I booked it at the last minute and ended up alone on the tour, but Matthias's attention was great. I had never ridden a horse anywhere meaningful, but had no trouble keeping up. The landscape is gorgeous, the estancia is elegant, and I had a good lunch to follow up. I would recommend this more for groups or for the evening times when available.
The view was fantastic and the ride was very nicely designed. We feel that we learned how to riding a horse while enjoying amazing lake view and incredible landscapes
Such a great experience. Horse back riding over beautiful landscapes then some hearty food back at the ranch. Diego was a awesome guide, very knowledgeable and super friendly
My dad and I had the chance to do the horseback riding adventure with Cerro Frias, and it was one of the best decisions we made on our entire Patagonia trip! First off, it was very convenient: they picked up and dropped us off right at our hotel. Once we got there, we were greeted by the staff, who were so kind and took into account every individuals’ riding experience to ensure a very safe ride for all. The horses seemed to be well taken care of, and were mostly very calm, shout-out to my horse Luna! We were in a group of maybe around 12 people, and you’re on the horse for around 1.5 hours total. The views were so beautiful, a stunning landscape with snowy peaks in the background. After, we had a three course delicious lunch consisting of bread, pea soup, lentil soup, and a chocolate brownie. I would totally recommend this to anyone looking for a unique way to elevate their trip in Argentina!!!
Fecundo was very helpful and amazing
I was a bit nervous because I’ve never done this before but LEANDRO and LUCAS were great teachers and made me feel very comfortable and confident. I had a lot of fun and learned from them a lot about the beautiful nature and animals of the area. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Amazing experience. Highly recommend it. Mateo was great!
The experience was amazing, I went with my husband and my daughter who is an advanced horseback rider and we had so much fun! The terrain was amazing, we saw cows, wild llamas, ostriches & hares. The entire ride was about 2 hours, and it was one of the best two hours of my life. Our group was just my family, which was really nice. And the lunch after the ride was amazing and so filling. Our tour guide LEANDRO was amazing and telling us the history and information on the land and the horses! IF YOU ARE IN EL CALAFATE YOU MUST DO THIS EXPERIENCE!!!
Perfecto! The weather and the view is perfect! The horse is very chill, the route is very peaceful with amazing view of mountains and lake Argentina. Very heartwarming services from guide, and delicious tea time at the end of the tour.
Exceptional. What an awe-inspiring experience! The trail horses did what trail horses should do--expertly follow the trail. The guides were friendly. The views were spectacular. We took the sunset ride which included dinner. Two thumbs up.
The ride was fantastic with a chill horse, impressive landscape, and the best guide, Diego. I loved seeing el Calafate from a different perspectives. The highlight was talking with Diego about his passionate for agriculture and horses. Everything from ride to the estancia to lunch was awesome.
It was my first time horseback riding and the experience was just amazing. It gave a little insight into life on an estancia, it felt very authentic and the guides were friendly and knowledgable. The land owned by the estancia is huge and we went up onto some hills to have an amazing view over the lake and the mountains. When we got back to the estancia the fire was on and we had a lovely dinner by the fireplace. All in all an amazing first experience that I won’t easily forget!
Had an incredible day out with Facun and Leandro and everyone working here. They knew so much about the area and were really patient and encouraging with first time horse riders making the whole experience so relaxed. We could just enjoy the scenery which was unbelievable. 10/10 would recommend this was our main activity expense in El Calafate and was 100% worth it. It’s so great to experience people who are so passionate about their work and surroundings! Thank you so much :)
Thanks you Mathias and faccuaciarito, it was exceptionnal.
Highly recommend. The horses were nice and the guides were great.
Beautiful ranch and horses. Experience could have been much better if the guide wasn’t so rude and unwelcoming. Lacked energy and enthusiasm; didn’t bother to inform us about the ranch, the land, the vegetation, the animals or the history of the place. He was a very impatient person that liked to whip the horses if they weren’t going fast enough. Makes you wonder how they actually treat the horses when people aren’t around.. Not worth the price.
We loved it, the horses are very experienced, look after you and take you on a ride along the tracks in the hills above Lake Argentina. The views are stunning, the lake, the snow capped mountains and the Patagonian steppes. The guides are very good, they pick a horse for you, give a little briefing on how to ride if you are inexperienced and also good company on the ride. Afterwards we had a cooked meal in their restaurant and then dropped off back in town. A memorable experience for us on our tour of Argentina.
I did the sunset horse riding and was very nice .. the views were stunning..
Very organized pick up and excursion. Horses were very well trained and of good temperament. Very scenic views and highly recommend the evening tour to view the sunset with a hearty dinner afterwards. Guides are very helpful and great for riders of all experience level.
Amazing experience. The horse are beautiful and clearly very well looked after. Lovely guides, so friendly and knowledgeable. The scenery was spectacular, with amazing views of the lake, mountains and seeing Torres del Paine in the distance. So glad we did the sunset trip- it was even more beautiful. Finished with great meal.
So glad we booked this- the horses are beautiful and clearly well looked after. The guides super friendly and knowledgable. The scenery was spectacular- amazing views of the lake, mountains, seeing Torres del Paine in the distance was magical. The sunset trip added to the stunning views. Finished with tasty dinner.
We booked a morning horseback riding tour with lunch included. This was definitely one of the highlights of a trip full of highlights in Patagonia. It’s quite a long process from pick up at 8:30 am at the hotel, until you’re actually on a horse. They pick up a few guests at different hotels, and then you turn off the main road onto a dirt road where you might be lucky enough (as we were) to see foxes, hares, and eagles. Upon arrival, after having passed some of the most beautiful scenery, with a view of the EOLO hotel up the hill, you arrive at a nice building with a restaurant inside, where you can get ready and leave your backpack or your bags. It’s best to not have anything on you during this riding tour - I put my valuables in the zipper pocket of my jacket, I left everything else in the little restaurant. You’ll want a warm hat or headband for the wind. Then you walk over to the corral area where there’s a wait while the guide gets each person settled onto a horse, one by one. No helmets are provided. The ride itself is incredibly scenic. It would be great to have a GoPro or a similar camera mount. I had my phone in my hand the whole time to take pictures and videos. You ride up the hills with stunning views until you get a view of the lake, you keep going up and down some very steep hills - the horses know what they’re doing, but for a very inexperienced rider it might be a little scary… however, everyone managed and everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives!! We were sad not to see any wild guanacos but we did see some of those ostrich-type birds. The saddles are extremely comfortable. The entire ride was at a walk. There was no trotting or galloping. At the end of the ride, you wish it could go on longer… then you dismount and go into the restaurant for a nice traditional lunch. Then it’s back onto the bus to be dropped off back at your hotel around 1:00 or 1:30pm, with plenty of time to still do an afternoon activity and an evening activity. I wish we had ridden for longer, it was so beautiful and fun. Amazing tour for any level of rider. Strongly recommend!
This experience was the opportunity to take in the scenery from a unique perspective: we climbed the hill and reached sensational viewpoints of the lake and surrounding plains and mountains. No need to have ridden a horse before: the whole experience is a walk, which may frustrate more experienced riders. The meal offered at the end of the experience was delicious and authentic. We highly recommend this!
It was a beautiful sunset horseback ride! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and the dinner was delicious! 10/10 would recommend!
We were on a group tour with an evening free in El Calafate. Cerro Frias was flexible and worked with us to make the pick-up work in relation to the group tour and our whole family enjoyed the 6:30 ride with beautiful end-of-day light. The warm soup and stew tasted delicious after the ride and we enjoyed a lovely evening.
Very friendly and funny staff. Great experience with beautiful sunset. Food was also very nice. 100% recommend
We were a family of five, and none of us had ever ridden a horse before. Honestly, we didn’t know what to expect — but it turned out to be an absolute dream. From the very beginning, the experience was magical. The landscape was breathtaking, the horses were beautiful and gentle, and everything felt so peaceful and special. Despite being complete beginners, we truly felt like real riders. It was such an empowering and unforgettable feeling.
Had a wonderful morning. Horses are lovely - quiet but definitely with their own personalities - and staff are great. We had glorious weather and fabulous views, and a delicious lunch.
Amazing experience, great experience . Super friendly & informative staff! Great food & snacks.
Lovely horses, stunning scenery, great staff, delicious lunch. We had glorious weather and the views are awesome. Seamless from pickup to drop off.
The horse riding part of our experience was great. The cowboys were friendly and the horses well natured and knew where they were going so experience wasn’t necessary at all. 5 out of 5 for that part of the trip. Dinner on the other hand was very underwhelming. For an estacion with cattle I expected more than lentil soup that needed seasoning, chewy lamb stew and overcooked brownie. Then menu isn’t complicated so it really needs to be cooked well.
Today we had a fabulous horse ride on Cerro Frias. We were very lucky with the weather - sun shining and low wind, so it was a perfect morning for a ride. The views are spectacular, we saw quite a bit of wildlife, and generally had a great time. Diego and Facunda looked after us very well, shared lots of info about the area, were very supportive of the novice riders, and made it a fun trip, as well as taking some photos for us as we ride along. I rode General and my husband rode Prince, both excellent mounts who were calm, steady and sure-footed. We were a group of six riders plus our guides. A good number for getting plenty of attention and support. The lunch that followed was yummy and sustaining.
We had a wonderful horseback ride at Cerro Frias and the guides were very friendly, service oriented, highly skilled and very professional. The views were amazing, and the horses were sure footed and well-trained. The facilities were aesthetically pleasing and clean , the food was authentic and quite good. We got very lucky and had beautiful, clear skies, and light Patagonia winds. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I do think that there could be a couple of improvements. There are a couple of spots with SPECTACULAR views. It would be nice if there was a planned stop and the guides took unobstructed pictures of the riders and their horses as part of the tour. The guides did take pictures but while we were moving and in groups. We were a bit surprised not to wear helmets as on our horseback ride in Chile we did… as one of the riders saddle was not on tight enough and it slid around the horse with the rider sliding off with it (not injured), and one other beginner rider’s horse stumbled and nearly tumbled, things can and do happen and safety is important too. Recommend offering helmets to riders. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
The crew picked us up from our hotel and we had a fantastic experience riding horses with guides near us at all times. We did the evening excursion and had a lovely dinner afterwards.
Amazing time on the horses with our guides. Food was delicious too. Highly recommend. Horses were nice and slow so felt safe the whole time.
Lovely scenery. Interesting to see the mountains and lake on horseback. The weather was perfect. Wonderful crew. Good value.
It was a perfect way to spend the afternoon in El Calafate. The scenery was beautiful, the horses were easy to ride for a beginner and the guides were fun and helpful. Definitely take the poncho they offer since it keeps you warm and comfortable on the horse.
Very competent and friendly staff and very well schooled horses for beginners like me - followed by a reasonable filling lunch
