We went on the Sunrise trip to Tongariki on our final day in Rapa Nui. The pickup from the hotel was at 0600. Our guide was Cristobal, and there was 1 other couple in the car with us. It takes about 20 minutes or so to get there, and it was pretty dark when we arrived. There weren't alot of people there so could spread out nicely. I think the official Sunrise was about 0735, 0645 onwards the light begins to appear. It is magical seeing the Moai start to come into view with the amazing skies behind. Cristobal was a very friendly and informative guide. We stayed until the sun had come up, and then got driven back to our Hotel. We were back by 0815, so went to breakfast. I'd definitely do the Sunrise trip if your schedule and the weather allows it. It was also excellent value for money, and again the communication was very good.

So glad I took this opportunity to see an inspiring sunrise at a fabled location - Ahu Tongariki. I must have a million photos. Used Maori Rapa Nui guides - outstanding!
they answered on very last minute message late evening and where very communicative. deeply appreciated .
Definitely a must see! The sunrise is truly magical over Tongariki. Excellent price compared to similar options. Highly recommend
What a great experience, our guide was really welcoming, on time, and even laid a picnic blanket to sit on! Wrap up warm as it’s quite cold. The star gazing was excellent and then watching the sunrise was quite magical. Would recommend!
Emilia falls short of the basic responsibilities of a guide. To start, her English is weak (she doesn’t know left from right), which made communication a constant challenge. The sunrise Tongariki tour was the clearest example. We arrived in pitch black with rain pouring down. On the walk to the moai, Emilia strode meters ahead of the group, leaving us behind in the dark on a path littered with rocks, puddles, and animal droppings. When people pulled out their phone flashlights to see, she remarked, “afraid of the dark?” Weather is never guaranteed, I get that. But guides from other tour groups brought tarps to shelter their guests while waiting for sunrise. Emilia retreated to the van and left us to soak. Once the sun rose and the rain let up, the other guides were actively engaging with their groups, walking them through the site and pointing out the best spots to photograph the moai and surrounding archaeology. Emilia was nowhere to be found, back in the van again. Throughout the morning, she seemed far more interested in feeding and playing with the stray dogs than actually guiding us. We only got any context for what we were looking at because a neighboring tour group kindly let us tag along.
The experience was worth the early start and would recommend it as an activity do to if you are able to when visiting The part that could have been better was the communication with the tour guide- they hardly spoke to us, very little to no information given, left us at site and only saw in the car park at the end, got on the bus last and was 1st off It would have been nice to have had more interaction / information from them
What a wonderful experience! It was one of those times where you need to put your camera down and just breathe and take it in. Our guide was great, he told us the best places to view from and let us linger to enjoy it all - we were possibly the last group to go. All in all very relaxing and wonderful to do!
It is important to note that this is a pickup/dropoff…not necessarily a tour. You are given ample time to walk around the area and sit and watch the sunrise. We took so many photos - beautiful experience! This was our cheapest but most memorable tour in the island. Also…Eva is the best! She was always available to answer questions about the history of Rapa Nui.
Beautiful sunset tour , good tour guide informative and friendly. I enjoyed connecting with 15 Moai Tongariki Park for me it was a special & spiritual and peaceful experience. It is a spectacular place with ocean and cliffs in the background.
It wasn’t an option of our two day tour and everything I’d looked up said this was a must do! We got to the site early enough to have great a sky gazing view prior to. It wasn’t overly crowded, and was definitely worth it!
Being there for the sunrise was awesome. But getting there and back was terrifying! The driver went over 80 kmh twice the speed limit, very scary. Guide slept the whole way there and the whole time while there, basically no guide except to open and close the van door.
It was to short and we did not see moai. It should last 3.5 hours but it was 2 hours. We did see no heads.
The driver was on time and very good and polite, but I felt the tour misrepresented us. The sunrise view and pick-up timing are really wonderful. However, there was no coffee or tea offered, and there was no instruction given by the guide. The description says we would get a history lesson on the place, but no narrative was given. Basically, it's just a ride there and back. I would definitely see the sunrise, but I would hire a private guide to take you or use another tour group.
This “tour” was essentially just a hotel pickup and transport to the site. Once you’re there, you’re pretty much left alone by the guide. Unfortunately the sun didn’t appear for me, and we were rushed back to our hotels shortly after “sunrise”. I thought it was quite rushed and an hour shorter than listed. I was pleased that I had seen the site the day prior (on the island tour)
A must do experience for watching the sunrise. You do not need a private tour as everyone watches from the same spot. Do not expect any explanation from the driver as you are booking for transportation only. The driver also communicated in Spanish via WhatsApp so be prepared to use Spanish.
Would have been great if there was actual sunrise to see. It was overcast and then rain. They offered to switch but I was leaving the same day
Excellent, smooth experience riding to and from the site. Do not miss this opportunity to start your day watching the magnificent Moai waking up in the morning sunrise!
Excellent excursion. You’re pretty much paying for the pick, ride, and drop off, so no need to spend more than this to do a VIP tour. You all end up in the same field! Neat stargazing to start and then beautiful views as the sun comes up. Back to the hotel before breakfast ended!
The view of the sunrise over the Moai was amazing, and worth going. This was not a tour, however. I would just call it an uncomfortable taxi ride to the site. Our guide seemed to have trouble finding the hotels if the other folks on the ride, and we were picked up first and dropped off last. We were ready at 6:00 am for an 8:30 sunrise. That part was a little frustrating.
Our tour guide was respectful, punctual and communicative. The company made sure to get a hold of me the day before to ensure I was prepared for the trip although I made it last minute. Highly recommend this tour, it was an unforgettable experience to see the stars, Milky Way and sunrise behind the largest platform of moai on the island.
Honestly, this tour was not very good. The pick up was late, no English spoken, crowded, dirty van, no coffee or tea as promised - nothing else provided or organized, it was just basically a ride. It was an amazing to contrast this because I took a stargazing tour the night before and it was excellent. I do NOT recommend this tour - pass.
Seeing Togariki at sunrise is a must do. It’s absolutely stunning. The place fills up with more people at Sunrise than it did during my daytime tour I took the day prior. I almost had the place to myself then (during peak season). My only criticism of the tour was the actual tour group and their lack of communication. I had almost no idea what time I’d get picked up until they were there outside the hotel. I’d been up for hours (part of that waiting outside in the dark with nobody to contact).
Sunrise was amazing. However please note this was not a tour as such but rather transport to the location and back. No information given or shared. The location for the sunrise was one of the best experiences on Easter Island.
Don’t do a shared tour for sunrise. We had to pick up about eight separate people/pairs, meaning everyone had to be up way early and ready way before actual pickup because times are conservative estimates…and we still didn’t make it there for the best morning light (though we may have been there for technical sunrise; it was hard to tell with the clouds). Splurge and do the private tour for this particular experience—you’ll be glad you did.
Catching the perfect sunrise unfortunately depends on the weather and it was cloudy on my tour. But the visit was still tranquil and serene! This was a good way to squeeze in one last activity on the last day on the island before my afternoon flight.
Best thing we did on the island. The sunrise was beautiful and not very crowded. Extremely magical. “Guide”was more a driver and chaperone than anything. Good thing we had all the info the day before when we did the full day tour. Highly recommended!
Transport to and from was seamless and on time. Just FYI there was no actual tour, it was just the transport, but I was fine with that. If you don’t have transportation on the island, I recommend this.
An unforgettable experience. Seeing the sunrise in Rapa Nui was truly beautiful. Everything was very well coordinated and the guide accompanied us at all times. It is totally worth getting up early.
A truly unforgettable experience. Seeing the sunrise in Rapa Nui was something magical, with a beautiful landscape and a unique tranquility. The tour was very well organized and the guide was friendly, punctual, and explained many interesting details to us. Without a doubt, an experience that is totally worth it and that I recommend doing when visiting the island.
It is a great experience, the place is beautiful and the sunrise looks lovely, we went on a day that was not clear, but it still looked beautiful. It is a place that you really have to visit, it is wonderful. Be careful, it is very early and it is cold. Especially if you go with children.
Fully recommended the sunrise experience in Tongariki. Correct transfer. We recommend first visiting it on a full day tour to receive all the explanations, as this tour is only to see the sunrise without much more additional information.
A totally worthwhile experience. The tour is very well thought out and enjoyed from start to finish. The guides, being natives, make everything much more enriching and authentic, sharing their culture and knowledge very closely. In addition, they are super friendly and attentive, which makes one very comfortable throughout the tour. The price-quality ratio is excellent, and you can see the punctuality and care in every detail. Undoubtedly, an experience I recommend 100%.
I did the sunrise tour and loved it were punctual and it was very nice sunrise we were lucky to have a nice day
We went al.amanexer left early and were punctual with the schedule it was a nice moment to see the sunrise we recommend it
A truly unforgettable experience. Seeing the sunrise in Rapa Nui is something unique, full of energy and meaning. The tour was very well organized, with fair times and a clear explanation that helps to understand the importance of the place. Everything was given respectfully and calmly, which made the moment even more special. Fully recommended.
We hired a pack where several tours came, which we thought was good in the price. We had an excellent experience with the guide and the group which played us, all really magical
I went with my partner to see the sunrise and it is a wonderful thing, we had seen the sunset on a beach, but seeing the sunrise is much better and more beautiful, if you go you can not miss it
We take one of the best tour that is the sunrise, there is nothing more beautiful in life than seeing the sun appear on the island, the super friendly guides
Punctual pick-up at hostel, 30 minute drive, 60 minute stay and then back again 30 minutes! After exactly 120 minutes everything was done. My tip therefore, book the cheapest variant that will be offered because the 2 hours are sufficient in any case!!!!
Wonderful by far the best experience of my life, I would repeat it a thousand times without hesitation, to those who have doubts I recommend it to 1000%
The tour was totally wonderful, we loved it we were happy with my family the super friendly guide explained everything to us perfectly we were super happy
Pretty wonderful sunrise tour, a magical place to spend with family or couple!! Pretty loving guide, answered all the questions every moment, happy stay
The views were wonderful, the guides friendly and close, although we went in winter, where you don't see the sun rise after the moai, it is an unforgettable experience just like
We took the sunrise tour with them and it was a very pleasant experience. Everything was well organized, they met the schedules and the transfers were comfortable. The guide was close and was able to convey the history and culture of the island very well, without making it boring, since other times in other countries I have played boring guides. Very good option if you want to take advantage of your visit with someone who knows Rapa Nui well.
I took 3 tours with the agency, I loved the sunrise, and the others too. I can highlight the kindness of the guides as well as the organization of the agency in helping me get to know the main points of the sector during my short stay.
I loved the sunrise tour had an amazing time, we were passed to look and leave at the time and the guide very friendly everything in general super well
Loved the tour with this agency respected the schedules we agreed, the guide good vibe, felt comfortable and everything super good
Wonderful experience. The quality of this company when carrying out all its tours was an unforgettable experience for the group of 40 people we went. Highly recommended. thanks for everything!
A great time! The sunrise on this mythical site is to be seen! It was great to get there first, again last night. Our driver was very kind but did not speak English as stipulated! It’s a shame to leave as soon as the sun rises, we would like to stay longer but I understand that there is a schedule. In any case experience to try!
