The entire experience from pick up to drop off was AMAZING! Our guide Simon was extremely knowledgeable of the Rapa Nui culture as he is a direct descendant. Every question we asked, he answered, and clarified some of the theories. He took his time and made sure we were OK at every site. NOT rushed at all. The tour had lunch option included which was good. Highly recommend.

This is the only volcanic cone tuff quarry existing on the island. This material allowed the construction of the moai on a larger scale. Rano Raraku houses the quarry where the moai were built and from where they were moved to the ahu (ceremonial platforms) in the island.
Located opposite to Rano Raraku this is the largest platform from all of the reconstructed on the island. The ahu Tongariki is the most imposing moai platform in the island. This altar has fifteen visible standing statues overlooking the island with their backs to the Pacific Ocean.
This beach is characterized by warm turquoise waters and coral sand. It is the main beach of the island and used to be the ancestral residence of the Miru Araki royal family. The ahu Nau Nau is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished Ahu of the island because of the refinement of its moai.
Located in the southwest side of the island the crater of this volcano is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes of Rapa Nui. With 1.5 Km large this crater is the biggest reserve of endemic flora of Rapa Nui and it lake served as an important source of drinking water
O'rongo village is located on one side of the Rano Kau volcano crater. Its spectacular scenic location, its archaeological and historic relevance, the diversity and complexity of the site, make Orongo village one of the most important attractions of the island. It's one of the two main sites on the island as in this place was celebrated the Birdman ceremony. It also has a visitor reception center with a permanent interpretive exhibition.
One of the very few ceremonial platforms not located by the sea. Its seven moais have been restored to their standing position by the archaeologists William Mulloy and Gonzalo Figueroa along with the Rapa Nui community. These moai have the particularity of having astronomical positioning guidance and look towards the setting sun.

It’s a perfect way to see the island’s highlights. Itinerary is very comfortable - starts at 9am from your hotel and ends at 3pm incl. relaxing lunch. The tour covers main spots of the island - you can know more about the history of the place and see charming views. Here I’ve read a lot of gratitude words to the guides, our guide Yisell was very kind and friendly but her English is limited, that’s why it was hard to obtain all the information about history and etc. I recommend you to combine this tour with Sunrise experience - you’ll start earlier but will enjoy the beautiful sunrise with moais.
Sol, my guide, was amazing as she shared the history and culture of her people and their land. It was one of the most amazing days of learning and being in awe.
Oka was our tour guide and Lewis our driver. We had a wonderful day visiting the sites. She was a native of the island and was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history. The lunch was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and saw everything we wanted to. When you buy your island pass make sure you take the corresponding id or a photo as I had put on our passport details but took our driving licenses as id which were no good as they did not correspond to the info I had submitted. Fortunately we had photos of our passports on our phones and they sufficed.
Our guide Toto was truly amazing. He was full of fascinating information, delivered in great depth and in good English. We had a fun day as Toto is not only knowledgeable but has a sense of humour which is important when spending the day with someone you know nothing about. He introduced us to Easter Island pineapples which are the sweetest I have ever eaten, took us for a great lunch for some Tuna Ceviche chosen off a menu at a beach restaurant which is one of the islands specialities. The Moai are not to be missed and in fact can’t be - they are all over the island. What else can I say except thank you for a day out that far exceed what we had expected.
Toke was excellent. We really enjoyed the day with him and he gave us a true sense of the island. I would recommend booking direct with the travel agency though as Viator was a disappointment.
I booked a full-day tour with Kava Tours, combined with the Tongariki sunrise. I was picked up at 6:00 AM by Toto, the driver and guide for that day. I had an amazing day! Toto shared a lot of knowledge about the history of the Moai, the Island, and the Birdman culture. It was an excellent introduction to Rapa Nui and its beauty. Thank you, Toto and Kava Tours! It was a long and intensive day, but it was certainly worth it.
Loved learning about Rapa Nui and seeing the island. Really felt like I made use of the full day. Cannot recommend enough.
This tour was outstanding! Our guide, Sol, provided an exceptional experience, sharing not only the history of the moai statues but also the rich culture of Rapa Nui. We are deeply grateful for her insights and highly recommend this company to anyone visiting the island.
Isobel our guide was a star. A young local was friendly , well travelled and educated with a great perspective on the island and its history. The tour was perfectly pitched for the four of us - parents and your adult kids 19/21
The guide Tokerau was incredibly knowledgeable and took me to all the best sites. I learned about the history and saw all the highlights of the island in a day. I’d highly recommend this tour
Wonderful tour. Worth the money. Tokerau was an extremely knowledgeable, local tour guide. We would go again. Couldn’t be more happy with our experience.
Great local history past down by stories from the past generations. Plenty of time for Q&A. Sites were well balanced
Exceptional, our guide Toky was fantastic and very informative, this was a favorite tour, ide highly recommend
What a truly amazing day i had seeing the moai statues and hearing the history of rapa nui along the way. My guide Sebastian was very knowledgeable and passionate about explaining the ins and outs of Rapa nui. Thanks once again for a great day Sebastian, you’re a legend brother :)
This was an amazing tour! Everything we wanted to see and more. Our guide Wai was the best tour guide one could hope for. Her knowledge was boundless and was extremely friendly. Strongly recommended!
Our private, all day tour of Rapa Nui was first class. Tais, our guide, was excellent! We saw all the main attractions...and more! Tais offered fascinating background and detail. Lunch was great...against a spectacular background! Highly recommended!
We had a lovely tour with Thaise! She showed us the entire island and shared the important facts about the history, culture and art of the island. We would definitely recommend this tour!
Grossly overpriced at us$320 per person. This Excludes the park entrance of another Us$80. Local tours were pricing at us$50 to us$80 per person. Would recommend booking local tours via Yr hotels.
We really enjoyed the tour. Our guide Merahi was excellent. Very knowledgeable & engaging. The Moai are incredible but she really brought to life the history of Rapa Nui. Highly recommend.
Amazing!!! We were hesitant with the up front cost, but having a PRIVATE local guide just for us felt like the correct way to visit Easter island. You are going all the way to one of the most iconic islands in the world. Don’t cheap out on a group tour. Hugo answered all our questionsabout the present and past of Rapa Nui, took care of a lot of the ticketing details, and went above and beyond to provide us with an fantastic experience. Can’t wait to come back. Cheers, Wyatt, Reyka, and Kathy
Our guide Christine was Amazing! Her knowledge and passion about the island and its history not only far exceeded our expectations but was so incredible in its depth that she created for us an experience that has altered our lives forever.
This was an amazing tour thank you. Our guide Hugo was passionate about the history and island which was reflected in the information he gave us. We were not rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy the incredible sights. Would highly recommend.
Hugo and the tour were incredible!! He took us to all the spots at the perfect time to try and avoid crowds and he was so knowledgeable and genuine. We really enjoyed our time and our tour with him. This is a special place so make sure you have a special guide like Hugo to take you around!
Amazing, well tailored trip, with super nice local guide who provide us a lot of interesting information
Amazing tour yesterday. With Christina from Kava Kava tours. So informative and insightful. Inspiring. She has an amazing handle on the history of Rapa Nui. Five star experience. World class. Exceptional.
Amazing. Christina, our guide for our one personal tour, is brilliant! We listened as she told us of the Rapa Nui history. She helped us obtain the best photo angles and lighting. We enjoyed lunch at a cafe with a view of the quarry. This was the best historical tour I’ve ever experienced. 5 stars!
The most and the volcano.. Our guide, Josi, was excellent. She was extremely knowledgeable and fluent in English.
Had a great and informative island tour with expert guide Cristina, whose personal ties to the island's history made the experience even more remarkable. She was able to answer all my questions, and paced the day's activities in a thoughtful manner. The entire day was well-organized, communication was clear from booking through trip completion, and the ride around the island was comfortable as well.
Educational and fulfilled all our expectations. Tour guide took many photos for us of us and answered all our questions about this mystical island.
Sebastián Paoa Á. is a consummate storyteller, historian, and guide. His passion and deep love for Rapa Nui is heartfelt and earnest. My friend Barbara McCrary and I were thoroughly entertained and educated by the breadth and depth of his knowledge. He always wanted to go deeper than a shallow explanation. The history and mystery surrounding the moai were fascinating--especially the possible ways the moai were moved. The Birdman competition is unique, a captivating tale. The National Park is a national treasure and should be funded properly with an administrator focused solely on the proper maintenance and care of it. Rapa Nui has a rich history which is deftly described by Sebastián. The volcanic crater and the beach were spectacular sights to visit. Sebastián not only provided detailed descriptions of all the attractions, but also knew exactly where to pose us with the moai statues for a once-in-a-lifetime photo. And the tuna steak lunch was delicious. My friend Barbara does not like fish, and she loved it! Plus, I left my portable phone charger in Sebastián's car, and he called me twice the next morning before personally delivering it to my hotel. He is the best!!! This tour was definitely worth the price. You will NOT be disappointed.
It was a great experience to learn about the history and culture of the island. Lunch was great. I would recommend this group.
Hugo was the best. Showed us all the sites, gave us lots of time to look around and enjoy it, and he was super knowledgeable about the history of the island. If we were to come back again, we’d definitely book this tour once more, or at the very least stop in and have a drink with Hugo.
My guide for this was Yoyo, a local who grew up on the island. I booked this tour after reading the reviews and my experience was fantastic. My guide showed up within a few minutes of my scheduled start time. He showed me on a map in the hotel lobby where we would go and what we would be seeing. We were off in his car and on our way. Yoyo was able to share great insight, describing how the island has grown and changed in his lifetime. He definitely knows the history of the island, and the history lives within him. It was quite windy on the day of the tour. I recommend bringing a windbreaker, bug spray, and your sunglasses. There was plenty of room for a small backpack and you can leave some items in the car. I felt totally safe leaving my belongings in the car when we went off to the different sites. Yoyo knows all the great spots to grab a photo and was always willing to take one if asked. I highly recommend this tour company and Yoyo in particular. This full day tour (with lunch) was a great overview. One thing I want to do next time is hike the north face of the island, it's about a 5 hour hike and was not part of the tour. I'll come back to Easter Island and Kava Kava Tours.
We had a great experience on this tour seeing all the key Moay and ahu sights. We were met in the morning by a driver and our personal tour guide, Christina. Christina was great. She’s from Rapa Nui herself and is exceptionally knowledgeable having evidently spent a long time studying the history of the island and having deep routes here. She took the time to explain, the history, background, and possible theories for what might have been going on on the island hundreds and thousands of years ago. We couldn’t recommend her enough! It was certainly money well spent on this tour given the depth and breadth of knowledge which was shared with us.
The tour was great! Sebastian was a very knowledgeable guide who answered all our questions and took some great pictures of us. We had a great time learning about the history of the island and seeing the different sites. Would definitely recommend!
Wow - what an amazing day. We were so blessed to have Hugo as our guide of Rapa Nui (Easter Island)! Hugo is native to the island and his great grandmother is the oldest living Elder on Rapa Nui today. The wealth of his knowledge is as deep and wide as the ocean that surrounds this incredibly magical place. It’s always been a dream to visit Rapa Nui and see the Moai in the flesh but nothing can prepare you for the experience of that dream coming true as the magnificent Moai tower over you and you stand before the statues that you’ve seen in books since childhood finally sharing the same physical time-space! Hugo knows his island home like the back of his hand and he enjoys to share his knowledge with an attentive ear. It was truly a privilege to spend the day with him soaking up the stories like a sponge. If you’re genuinely interested in the history and you want to learn from the source then book Hugo as your guide, we highly recommend him. My heart is full as I write this on the eve of our day with him - many thanks Hugo! Marisa & Ben from Australia
The Tour Guide, Hugo, was an amazing guide! He was very courteous, professional, friendly, & knowledgeable! It was a private tour & I felt totally safe being a solo female. He seemed to really enjoy his profession & answered my many questions about the national park, culture, history, etc... On topics that there were no known facts, he gave possible theories. At one site, the Park Rangers wouldn't allow us in because the wind level was too high. Hugo offered to possibly have someone else bring me back to that site the next day at no extra charge. I thought that was definitely going above & beyond. It showed his true dedication to his profession & the passion for wanting to share his island's history with others.
Rapa Nui is such a special place!! Thank you Kava Kava Tours for several days of great fun and adventure!! Awesome guides with creative flexibility on my tours as we explored this hidden gem of an island. I totally recommend this company!! 🤩
Thank you Hugo for a fantastic day! This island has so very much to offer and Hugo, our local guide, was able to pick what fit us best considering interest and mobility. Only one thing, and turned into an important one; what was saved for us to do on out own was not “available”! I don’t know how new this rule is, but we found out that you can NOT enter any sight on the island without a guide, EVEN though your ticket is good for 10 days! If we had known this we would have asked Hugo to give us another half day… This rule makes it impossible for you to discover any Park area on your own, either if you plan to hike the island, rent a motorbike or car!
Everything was beyond expectations. A great warm pick up from airport was an amazing way to start the journey. The one day tour with Sebastian was one of the most memorable days during my one month travelling. His deep and accurate knowledge of the history here, his passion and love to share his own culture, have made the whole tour turning into an intensive but well constructed lecture. Remember to ask for him
This tour provides a great overview of Easter Island! Sebastian was my guide who provided extensive knowledge of the island and was helpful with my photography of the sights we saw throughout the day. He made the tour very pleasant and personalized it to suite my wants and expectations.
My tour turned out to be a personal all-day tour with my guide Hugo. He arrived early to pick me up at my hotel and proceeded to brief me on what I would be seeing. He was very prepared. As a native of the island and experienced tour guide he consistently gave me inside information about each site we visited. He also kept us ahead of the bigger pack of other tours, allowing more time to take in the sights. I actually saw a couple of more sites than was advertised because we had time and Hugo thought that they were important to the overall experience. We spent more time at some of the more significant locations such as the quarry. The tour included a lunch break at the beach and was very tasty. In the afternoon we completed the rest of the tour and I was back at my hotel by 4 PM. I can’t stress the wide range of scenery and history that you experience on this tour. I saw a large portion of the island over a single day that helped me better understand the georgraphy, history, and culture of Rapa Nui without it feeling like I was being rushed. And having an experienced guide makes all the difference. Hugo was really excellent and also very personable. If you want to see the island’s key sites (and sights) in a day, I can highly recommend this tour.
Hugo is from Rapa Nui and passionate about its people, culture and history. He did a great job showing us around the island.
Had full day private tour with sunrise experience with the very engaging Tokerau. He was very knowledgeable and passionate and even managed to bring a nice chair and coffee so we could enjoy the sunrise in comfort. Thank you making the day a highlights
Exactly what we wanted - a private highlights tour of Easter Island lead by Sebastian whose knowledge, passion and enthusiasm made it a memorable day! We highly recommend Kava Kava and Sebastian.
Amazing. Exactly as described. Communication with company was clear and prompt. Our guide, Sebastian was outstanding. He was well versed, provided lots of detail and Emma’s engaging. It made the visit so much more worth it than if we had gone solo. Highly recommend this company.
Tokerau was the name of my guide and he guided me for a day and a half, which was perfect for me as I had little time on Easter Island. Coming from Germany, this was the fulfilment of a lifelong dream. Being a native Rapa Nui, Tokerau was wonderful in explaining in great detail the history of every place we visted. He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and has his own opinions. I highly recommend a Kava Kava Private Tour on Easter Island, particularly when you have little time.
Extraordinarily, Breathtaking, Wonderful, Informative Tour The Kava Kava full day tour of Rapa Nui is a MUST SEE. We visited Easter Island on a cruise ship and originally booked excursions through the ship. As I learned more about Easter Island, I realized the ship’s tours skipped many important sites. Our tour guide, Tokerau , is a native of Rapa Nui. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a wonderful enthusiasm for his island. He drove us around from 10am to 6pm. No time for lunch as there was too much to see. He brought us to every important site and explained its significance. His English is perfect. We have great pictures and great memories of Rapa Nui. This “bucket-list” item is checked off. Thank you Tokerau and Kava Kava Tours.
Fabulous tour of a bucket-list destination. Tour guide Tokerau was extraordinary! Thanks for a great day.
