Itinerary
This beach with its white sands and turquoise waters is not only a tropical paradise, but also the epicenter of Rapa Nui's history. It was here that the founding king, Hotu Matu'a, landed, giving rise to a unique civilization. Sheltered by palm trees, the imposing moai of Ahu Nau Nau watch over the coast, uniting natural beauty with the sacred legacy of the first kings.
This archaeological site is home to the largest moai ever transported (weighing over 50 tons) and erected on a platform, as well as the largest crown, a "Pukao" (weighing over 9 tons). The statue, called "Moai Paro," is a colossal structure that now lies toppled, a silent witness to the end of an era. Beside it rests a mysterious, polished, spherical stone, imbued with magnetism, known as the "Navel of the World," an energetic connection point that fascinated ancient sages.
It is the largest and most iconic ceremonial structure in all of Polynesia. Fifteen colossal stone statues rise in perfect alignment, their backs to the Pacific Ocean to protect the island. Watching the sunrise behind these titanic silhouettes is an unparalleled mystical experience, where time seems to stand still and the history of the clans comes alive.
This extinct volcano is the birthplace of the island's giants and the only carved volcano in the world. Hundreds of moai lie on its slopes: some unfinished, others half-buried, all frozen in time before reaching their final destination. Walking through this sacred workshop of volcanic tuff is to witness the living legacy of the ancient sculptors, where the mystery of their transport remains etched in the rock. A unique archaeological wonder and an absolute must-see in Oceania and South America.
This archaeological site is a place of profound historical reverence, traditionally known as the tomb of King Hotu Matu'a. Akahanga is not just a sanctuary; it is one of the largest citadels on the island and the most starkly visible stage for the collapse of its culture. Here, the landscape conveys a profound sadness: the imposing moai lie toppled face down, silent witnesses to the devastating internal wars that fractured its people. Despite the tragedy it evokes, the site overflows with archaeological richness, remaining virtually intact. Walking among the remains of its boat-like houses (hare paenga) and ancient communal hearths allows one to discover what daily life was like alongside the great fallen giant
The interpretive village is a faithful reconstruction designed specifically for tourists to see, touch, and understand firsthand how an authentic ancient citadel functioned. This interactive space breaks down the barriers of passive observation, allowing visitors to enter traditional dwellings, touch original materials, and discover firsthand the ingenious agricultural techniques that enabled survival on the island. It is an immersive and educational experience that transforms history into something tangible, showcasing daily life, community organization, and the profound spiritual connection of the ancient inhabitants with their environment.

We had a lovely experience with our guide, Tokerau. He explained the rich history of the island and offered great hospitality. The private tour allowed for flexibility within our day.
Great guy and driving the finest vehicle in the Pacific Ocean
Excellent trip. Tokelau was a great guide- knew everything there was to know about the heritage and history of the island and modern culture and how the islanders live now! Was warm and friendly, happy to share facts about his life and seemed genuinely interested in ours. Great with our 3 small children. Absolutely immaculate van, super comfortable and safe. 10/10 two full days and an atmospheric sunrise! Kept us ahead of the large tour groups too so we were never lost in a crowd. Would recommend to anyone asking for a Rapa Nui tour!
Tokerau is the best guide on the island! Follow him and you’ll see all the most important sites on the island but also some of the less known as lava tubes and caves! Pleasure and adventure!
I enjoyed every moment of the tour! It is a mix of tradition, story, emotion and adventure! Choose this tour to have both the experiences: see all the traditional sites around the island and go to the less known like the north part of Rapa Nui with its wonderful lava caves with ocean view! Ask Tokerau for information and choose him as your guide, you ll be in good hands and you ll have the time of your life on a place you ll never forget!
This tour showed us a completely different side of Rapa Nui — not only the iconic moai, but also caves and hidden places that we had never imagined exploring. Equipped with everything we needed, we had the chance to discover an unexpected and fascinating side of the island, making us feel like we were truly experiencing it rather than simply visiting it. We came away with a much deeper, 360-degree understanding of this incredible island, and a big part of that is thanks to our fantastic guide, who made every moment special. One moment I will remember forever was watching the sunrise over the moai at Tongariki, while our guide played the guitar and sang traditional Rapa Nui songs. I was genuinely moved. Rapa Nui is a true treasure, and this experience allowed us to discover it in a way we will never forget
If you're visiting Easter Island, do yourself a favor and book a private tour with Easter Island Heritage Tours. From start to finish, this was one of the most memorable travel experiences we've had. Franco, our guide, went above and beyond at every turn — anticipating our questions before we asked them, adjusting the pace to what we wanted to see more of, and sharing stories about the island that you simply won't find in a guidebook. His knowledge of Rapa Nui history, culture, and the mysteries surrounding the Moai was incredible. Every stop felt less like a tour and more like getting a personal, intellectually enriching walk through centuries of history. We lucked out with perfect weather, and standing in front of the Moai with the sun out and Franco explaining the significance of each site was genuinely breathtaking. The statues are majestic in photos, but nothing compares to experiencing them in person with someone who clearly loves and respects this place as much as Franco does. If you want a tour that's personal, informative, and led by someone truly passionate about Easter Island, Franco is the guide to book. Highly, highly recommend.
Great tour giving a full Iinsight into the history, very informative guide.
We had an amazing day exploring Easter Island with Tokerau Hey. He is incredibly knowledgeable and explained the history, culture and stories behind every Moai in a way that was easy to understand and genuinely interesting. You can really tell how passionate he is about his island. Besides being super professional, Tokerau is also very friendly, funny and easy to talk to. He always knew the perfect timing to avoid the crowds and made the whole experience feel relaxed instead of rushed. If you're visiting Easter Island, don't hesitate to book a tour with Tokerau. It was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip!
Exceptional private tour, providing stunning insight about the secrets of the ancient culture of the easter islands. Peter from Switzerland
Some tours give you photos. Some tours give you memories. This one gave me both. For a few hours, I felt less like a visitor and more like a Rapa Nui. The hospitality, generosity, stories, and genuine connection made this experience far more valuable than any viewpoint or picture could ever be. What is offered here goes far beyond a tour. It is an experience that stays with you long after it ends. Without a doubt, this was the best investment I made all year. The only way I could ever lose its value would be if I lost my memory—and if that ever happens, I hope it happens as slowly as possible. Thank you for sharing not only the beauty of the island, but also its soul. Cheers from a Brazilian friend.
Amazing Easter Island experience! Incredible Moai statues, stunning views, and an outstanding guide. Highly recommended!
We had the opportunity to take a day tour with Tokerau and the experience was extraordinary. We toured different places on the island, saw several Moai, and visited the beautiful Anakena beach, one of the most impressive landscapes in Rapa Nui. Tokerau was an exceptional guide: friendly, respectful, attentive, and always willing to answer our questions. He explained the Rapa Nui history and culture to us in an approachable and entertaining way, providing details that allowed us to better understand each place we visited. In addition, he gave us the necessary time to explore, contemplate the landscapes, and take photographs without feeling rushed. More than a simple tourist tour, it was an authentic experience that allowed us to connect with the history, culture, and beauty of Easter Island. Tokerau's friendliness and warmth made the day even more special. We totally recommend taking a tour of Rapa Nui with Tokerau, especially for those who want to get to know Anakena, the moai, and the true history of the island accompanied by an excellent local guide. Thank you very much for this unforgettable day!
It was a truly wonderful experience. 🌺🌊 This guided trip not only allowed us to see the incredible places of Rapa Nui, but also to feel and connect with its energy, its culture, and its history through the songs and stories that our guide shared with such passion. I especially highlight his excellent willingness, warmth, and dedication. With every story, every song, and every explanation, he managed to make each place feel even more special and meaningful. The love and respect he has for Rapa Nui and for what he transmits to those of us who have the opportunity to get to know it is evident. Without a doubt, it was much more than a tour: it was an experience that allowed us to live and feel a little bit of the spirit of Rapa Nui. 🌺✨ An experience that I will cherish with great affection and that I totally recommend!
Very entertaining and interesting excursion; one learns a lot and enjoys the journey. The guide was 10/10. Everything is highly recommended.
Incredible experience, our guide Tokerau is very caring, respectful, and attentive to every detail. The tours are with few people, which makes it very personalized.
