August 15, 2026 We were on a cruise unfortunately the weather was bad and our ship couldn’t get passengers on to the shore. This is a tender port. Paulina kept us informed of everything she was great to work with. Looking forward to the next trip. This is a bucket list destination. Itinerary
Begin with a visit to the Ana Kai Tangata, a cave with paintings on the roof and a name that reflects the cannibalism which took place on the island during the warfare period. See the Rano Kau, a volcano with a panoramic view of the island which plunges 200m (656ft) below to a beautiful lake.
See the ceremonial village of Orongo where, during the 18th and 19th centuries, one of the most interesting political ceremonies took place annually as different tribes competed to become the leader of the island. In breathtaking sports event that involved climbing down cliffs, swimming out to some islets off the coast, the islanders came to this beautiful part of the island to see who would be their next king.
Additionally, become intrigued with the Vinapu site, where you will see some of the island's beautiful rockwork, reminiscent of that found in the great Inca civilization of South America.
Make your way to Puna Pau quarry from which the large scoria (red, cindery, basaltic lava stone) where adornments that were fitted on the heads of many statues were taken. Then discover the Ahu Akivi, a restored site of seven statues. It is said to be the representations of the first seven explorers who came to the island. These seven moai are the only group of statues looking out to the sea.
Lunch is not included on this tour, but there will be opportunities to stop and get food along the way if you find yourself hungry.
Like many volcanic islands, Easter Island is riddled with lava tubes. Ana Te Pahu is one of the more extensive networks found on the island that you will see. Learn how the ancient Rapa Nui people used these cave networks to live, collect water, plant vegetables and hide from aggressive visitors from the outside in the 18th and 19th centuries.
When the tour is complete, you will be dropped back at your hotel.

Had an active day seeing the major sites. Started rainy and then was clear most of the day. Made the adventure better and everything was great.
Easter Island is spectacular, the tour takes you to the real highlights and you have plenty of time to enjoy and walk around on your own. We met so many wonderful people on the island if only we'd had a different guide, ours insisted on force-feeding us his really quite offensve politics. But this aside it is a great tour.
Our full day tour of historical sights in Rapa Nui with our guide, Patricio, was awe-inspiring and educational. He gave every effort to share the history behind this rich and beautiful place, including significance of major landmarks as well as many cultural nuances. Highest recommendation I can give!!
The guides were extremely nice and had so much knowledge of the island. They also can speak multiple languages. Great times!
We did several tours with Green Island Tours in June 2025 on a family vacation to a place that we have wanted to visit for some time. Green Island Tours was a wonderful option from form planning and scheduling to execution. Not being a Spanish or Rapa Nui speaker it was important to us to have proficient English speaking guides, to ensure that we learned as much as possible. Everything was planned in advance but Green Island was flexible enough to accommodate last minute changes. Paulina was fantastic in terms of efficient communication and helping to piece together the tours to ensure that everyone in my family would be able to enjoy the level of activity. We had Marc, Yoyo and Heki'i as our guides - they were all great with slightly different styles. As a Kiwi it was interesting to hear Marc's experiences as someone who has made the island home for over a decade. Heki'i is in his early 20s, and Yoyo a charming statesman -- all taught us different things and we are very grateful to have had the variety of perspectives as it added to our overall experience. If we ever make it back to Rapa Nui we would gladly book with them again.
We did four tours with Green Island tours and each experience was wonderful. Our guide for each adventure was Yoyo. A local who has lots of knowledge and experience and a guide who doesn’t talk incessantly- a true bonus. Three of our tours were small group trips and the Hidden Rapa Nui was a private trip. We walked about 5 miles on each of the trips so wear appropriate shoes. We also got to swim in our own private tide pool on the Hidden trip - amazing. Thank you Green Island Tours and Yoyo.
The tour company was very responsive and the tour was well organised. The tour guide was friendly and yet professional. He was very attentive to our needs.
We joined 2 half day and 1 full day private tour with guide Yoyo. Yoyo is an excellent guide. We can see his love of the planet and Easter Island. He explained a lot about the island and help us to take many photos. During the sunrise tour, Yoyo prepared chairs, tea and snacks for us. And take us to an awesome place for beautiful sunrise photos.
My wife and I came to Easter Island on vacation and to celebrate our anniversary by seeing this remote island with their wondrous Moai statues carved by the ancient Rapa Nui but we were blessed to receive the fantastic experience that can only be provided by exceptional human interaction. Marc served as our guide and, not only was he a fount of information, but also a personable, grounded individual with a tremendous, positive spirit who offered great perspective and connection. This adventure would not have been the same without him and we are extremely thankful that the stars aligned in our favor in this regard. This was, by far, the best tour we have ever experienced in our travels… Marc and the Green Island tour group are highly recommended!
We had a brilliant tour with Patricio. We chose the Monuments Tour and saw everything we hoped for including the ‘maoi factory’ and the volcano crater which were highlights. Patricio’s deep knowledge of the island’s history brought to life the landscape, the archaeology and social connections. Patricio is among the very best guides we’ve had.
Our tour guide was Yoyo. He was absolutely amazing. Made the day so much fun and was super knowledgeable about the island and its history! We had the best day and couldn’t fault it. Will be recommending this to anyone coming to Easter Island!
Amazing tour guide names Yo-Yo. Knew his stuff and helped us have a great time. Highly recommend him and the company.
My wife and I went on a 7 hours Private Tour around the island in a private group of 10 people in total. And it was a really great experience from booking to the end of the tour. I shall give you some points as to why you can comfortably book a tour with Green Island Tours: 1) I booked through TA, but got quickly in direct email/whatsapp contact with Pauline and she was indeed "on her toes" - quick, friendly, service minded, flexible, straight....exactly as you want your travel agent to be. 2) The payment was extremely flexible - paid a deposit via PayPal - worked perfectly. The balance should be paid in cash on day of travel, but unfortunately I did not have enough cash. So I asked Pauline if I could transfer the funds via PayPal in advance or pay with credit card. Pauline's comment was something like: "Don't worry - if the credit card machine does not work on the day, you just pay afterwards via PayPal" (this is what I mean with "flexible" and "service minded"). 3) On the day of travel we (and the rest of the group) were severely delayed (should have been there 9am) caused by circumstances totally beyond the control of Green Island Tours. But yet again: no problem "if you come at 11 we are there, if you come at 12 we are waiting for you" 4) The guide Yoyo is just a great guy - full stop!! Very friendly, well-informed, qualified and not least service minded. We had one person with reduced mobility in the group, and he was just there for the 93-year old lady without in any way sacrificing the attention to the rest of the group. We had a wonderful day with Green Island Tours and especially Yoyo. My very best recommendation to the company and the people there.
We did two full tour days. Ludo was our guide for both days. Ludo was an exceptional guide! His knowledge about the island's history and his passion for the culture made it a truly memorable experience. Our expectations were exceeded ten times over! Pauline at Green Island Tours provided great communication and kept us up to date on all the details. You won't go wrong booking with Green Island Tours!
Green Island Tours was a pleasure to work with from the correspondences with Paulina to the day of the tour - coordinating our disembarkation from the cruise ship to meeting our guide on the pier. The tour was fantastic; Yoyo, our guide, an Easter Island native, knew everything there was to know about the island and imparted his knowledge and insights in a fun and informative way. The price was very competitive. It was an excellent value. Highly recommended!
Green Island Tours did an amazing time setting up three days of sightseeing on the island. They were incredibly communicative and did everything they could to tailor the trip to my requests. The guides were also incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable, unveiling the history of the island as we went along.
The communication with Paulina, the administrator of the company, was excellent from the start. When we arrived on the island and found that the heat and humidity were causing problems for my health, she quickly and efficiently rearranged the tours to take advantage of the cool weather in the morning. Yoyo, our guide for two of the excursions, is incredibly knowledgeable, but also a kind and funny man - the type you'd want to have as your friend. I learned as much from him in our time together as I did reading several books about the island. He was also a lead performer in one of the Tapati festival events and is known and respected all over the island. The Stargazing tour with Marc and his partner was beyond words. It was again a mix of deep knowledge about the stars, navigation, and Polynesian history and a true passion for those subjects. Unexpectedly, they sang and played the guitar for us beautifully. The picture they took of us at Anakena Beach at midnight looks like it was from a professional photo shoot. That was possible because of their attention to detail concerning the position of the moon and the time of its rising. On the tour, we saw the Milky Way with the naked eye, Venus, Jupiter and some of its moons, and star clusters through their telescope. All in all, it was an awesome experience that I'd do again given the chance.
We booked two days of private tours (myself and my wife). Tiko, our guide, was excellent. A native of Rapa Nui, he was able to answer every question we had about the things he was showing us as well as just about anything else. The car used was comfortable and capable, and the flexibility by Tiko and Green Island Tours was very useful to make the most of our two days on the island. We also did Stargazing with Marc. This was a shared activity and was hugely informative and enjoyable and we even got a great picture go along with it!
Overall, our experience with Green tours was terrific. Easter island is a special place and it’s important that you have the right guide to offer a perspective beyond what you see. We signed up with Green tours for multiple full days small group tours and a private tour. My experience with them was very professional marked with clear communication. The most important part for me was their guide - YoYo. He is a native, with incredible experience of the place, fluent with English, most importantly knows the art of story telling. Extremely conscious of the elderly in the group, and equally enthusiastic to answer all our questions. Green tours Co is definitely not the cheapest option on the island - but I did experience a strong sense of professionalism. You could actually hire private guides after you get down there, but I cannot speak for their fluency of English or knowledge.
Tuhii was amazing! She provided us adequate information and answered all of our questions throughout our tour. We truly enjoyed our time with her that we decided to book additional activities and spent several more days with her husband, Marc, learning about the history, culture and people of Rapa Nui. We greatly appreciated their honesty and willingness to share information regarding the island. Pauline was also amazing! She was extremely communicative, informative and kind via email and text. We cannot recommend this company enough. Thank you Tuhii, Marc and Pauline for making our visit truly memorable!
Very knowledgeable and friendly guide! Unforgettable experience. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
Very knowledge and pleasant guide. We did the tour of the whole island and we're able to select the best spots to return next day on our rented car.
We had such an amazing time in Rapa Nui. The big part about that trip was Marc, who made a great itinerary for us and gave his personal guidance on what to see during our stay there! He was our guide for the week-long trip and planned everything for the entire week. It's hard to put into words how much fun we had on our trip. From the moment Marc picked us up at the hotel for our first tour, his enthusiasm for all things Rapa Nui and holistic photography made him feel like part of our family! He tailored a perfect itinerary based on what appealed most about visiting this magical place- from golden hour photos in Rano Raraku or night shots around Anakena, there were always new adventures waiting just outside each day's destination window—it really felt like he knew exactly where every photo opportunity existed. Thank you, Marc, for such an amazing experience. Māuru-uru!
I came to Rapa Nui three weeks after letting tourists in again after Covid. I did the Stargazing and full day tour and it was fantastic. Marc is such a fun and knowledgeable guide. We went to almost every spot and I learned so much about the Rapa Nui culture and history. I‘ve probably had a once in a lifetime experience on Rapa Nui and the tour definitely contributed to it.
When going on a tour you want a tour guide who’s well informed and knows their way around. We got more than that with Marc. Apart from being extremely well informed about the island he clearly was having alot of fun doing the tour. It was such a great and fun tour! I would take another tour with him in a heartbeat! We got to see everything I had wanted to see and more. Thank you so much Marc. The booking and communication was swift, questions were answered promptly. All in all a fantastic experience with Green Tours Easter Island! Thank you for a memorable tour.
Doubly disappointed that they demanded payment for our full day tour with an English-speaking guide when we received neither. Since the "port" at Hanga Roa is a tiny rocky cove, the cruise-ship tendering was excruciatingly slow resulting in our long delay in arrival. Green Mountain Tours claimed the full charge for all day (though we would only receive a half-day tour) was necessary because they waited around for so long, (but contractually that's what that $40pp non-refundable deposit covered & other patrons on site were paying for half-day tours.) A very pleasant English-speaking guide to the volcano, a nice young man from the mainland, was replaced mid-tour by a French-transplant, (the non-English-speaking sister-in-law of the company's owner.) If you book with this company for your cruise destination, yes, the price is less than the quickly sold-out ship tours, but don't risk reserving an all-day tour when you might only get a half-day.
I went to Easter Island 2 weeks ago. I did a tour with this company because I've heard they were one of the best ones on the island. Now, I have no doubt it is true. All the has been very professional and friendly. The person who attended me at the office was Paulina, who was very informative and took the time to explain to me all about the tours. The guide of my tour was Kava Pakarati, a very friendly, spontaneous and wisdom person. He was born in Rapanui so he was able to answer all my questions in all the different spots that we have visited as Ana te Pahu, Rano Kau, Ahu Akivi, among others. I totally recommend going with this company to discover Rapanui!
Our tour guide was Kava and he was so wonderful. He was the best ambassador for the entire island. We were picked up promptly at 10am and had the best overview of the entire island. There was so much that we learned about and would not have known if we did the sites ourselves. All of the folks at Green Island Tours were so wonderful to work with. This was a once in a lifetime trip and this tour company made it very memorable. Thank you!
I am so happy with this tour. Easter Island is a gem in the middle of the Pacific, as far as possible from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the crazy world, which was where I fittingly decided to take a pause from my hectic life in Stockholm. With all it's history and natural surprises it did not disappoint. The tour comprised of seeing major sights, in a calm pace which made me very happy. I have to say that even though the island itself is magical with countless things to do, see, learn, the tour guide Christopher made it even better. A calm and positive local, as knowledgeable as possible, and with great enthusiasm for the island and us as visitors he made a great day. Highlight of my trip!
We've booked private tours before and, although a bit pricier than the "big bus" option they end up being much more thorough, interactive, and educational. Our Green Island tour with Kava as our tour guide was no exception. In fact, this was probably the best day tour we've ever taken. After being picked up at our hotel we went through the sights in town and then promptly got immersed in the "bird man" culture at Orongo crater. Kava, our guide, brought the people to life and made this very interesting. We continued around the island (and back to the Moai Culture) seeing almost all there was to see. We had lunch at the quarry. In the tour info it mentioned that we should pack our own lunch, which we did, but there is a cafe at the quarry where you could buy one too (along with a gift shop). Our guide gave us plenty of time at Tongariki and Anakena Beach to explore, shop, and sink our feet in the sand. The weather was a little wet in the morning but that definitely didn't detract from the experience. Just remember to bring a cover for your DSLR camera and you'll be all right.
The full day tour is lots of fun but beware that you cant visit 2 sites again. Great guides but there is some unwritten rule that you cant visit the crater or the mine sites twice. They wasted a lot of our time kicking us out but a great place otherwise.
Quite expensive BUT the guide was fantastic. So kind, very careful & professional (and so nice!). A must-to-do tour!
Our guide was wonderful and managed to get us into parts of the closed park, but the workers' strike closed most of the park. Very disappointed to come so far and pay for a private tour that couldn't be completed.
We did 3 days of tours with the company and couldn't have been happier. Each day was a different guide and I wasn't sure about this after first. I loved it! Each one brought their own perspective and shared their families own stories about growing up the island. This part was incredible. Guides were all very knowledgeable and it was great how flexible the tours were. If you were curious about something different, they made sure to accommodate.
Had an incredible day with my guide Marc. He was very personable and has great knowledge of the history of the island. Rapa Nui / Easter Island is such an amazing island with spectacular views in every direction, and a private tour is the #1 best way to see it. I would highly recommend Green Island Tours...you won't be disappointed. Next visit I will be booking the Rapa Nui Stargazing Experience with this team!!
Our tour was really awesome. He was able to give us all the information we needed to really make the tour interesting.
We had a great two days with Shane. We saw all we wanted to see, covered the whole island, were given informative talks and information and he accomadated our needs perfectly. We highly recommend him
We chose to do Summit to Subterranean as a way to see a lot of the island during our short stay. Our guide, Yoyo, took us completely off the beaten path, allowing us to learn about aspects of the island we wouldn't have known without seeing them. I was extremely impressed by how much of the island we covered in about 6-7 hours and it will be a memory that last forever.
The team is great... they know the island very well, its stories, its secrets ... have an amazing time with such amazing people to experience such a beautiful and unique island. Enjoyed my entire stay with them as I booked all my day trips with them.
My friends and I had only 30 hours to spend on Easter Island and we needed to make the most of our time there. I contacted Green Island Tours and completed everything before getting there. Because there are only two flights in a day to the island (we were on the early flight) we got in after the tour was supposed to start. Green Island accommodated our start time. At the last minute another friend decided to come along and again Green Island accommodated us. Our tour guide showed up early and very enthusiastic about being our guide that day. There were three of us in a large roomy van. First stop the national park office to get our tickets and then we were off. Our driver/guide took us everywhere that there was a road and something to see. He was great! We saw all the major archeological sites and were given detailed information about what we were seeing. Our driver while he/we had an agenda went at our pace stopping on the road many times to let us out to take pictures. He hiked with us to all time at all the sites again explaining what we were seeing. Because we started late he made sure we had a full day tour, so he ended his day later than usual. The visit to Easter Island was a dream come true and our guide helped make it special.
Thank you Green Island Tours and our guide Yoyo for making this one of my most memorable trips ever. Easter Island is truly a wonderful place and green island tours were very accommodating of our needs and tailored the trip to the 3 of us - 1 Adult and 2 boys (19 &17yrs). We did the crater walk, full day historical tour, Moai monuments (on quad bikes !!) , north coast trek and stargazing and every tour was personal and unique. I would definitely have stayed longer if i knew how amazing this place was. We traveled at the start of July and the weather was awesome too :)
A comfortable ride, very informative guide and overall one of our best tours ever with the bonus of it being on magical Easter Island. Don’t miss it.
Our cruise ship stopped here for 2 days and Yoyo from the tour company was our guide. He was a lot of fun and certainly knew the island and all the history. Had a great 2 days - saw & learned a lot. Very comfortable and clean bus for 18 of us. Both days were different and well worth the time taken. A very unique island and a great company to employ for tours.
I went on two of their tours and both were more than excellent. On one (Str Gazing) there was only one other person and it was a perfect evening of star gazing Amos had a laser pointer that pointed out every thing he was talking about. The other was a full day tour and again for the first half there were three of us and for Orango just me so I had a personalized tour.Yo-Yo was informative and his stories about the site were excellent. If you are looking for a small group tour is company is the best on the island
Our guide was like a working anthropologist! Amos' knowledge of the language, history, stories, geology and astronomy was educational and entertaining. We saw everything that we wanted to..and more! Amos also had great ideas for photos and took some very special shots of our group. Sooooooo worth it. Great company. Great communication.

This trip was better than our highly expected expectations. Our guide was of one of the cultural mone important family with roots back in ancient time.As a native he gave us important information nof ancient and present living on the Island. He showed us the quary where the big stone statues were made and how they were transported. We also saw the Place where the first chief landed and where the fist native Child was borne. We looked at old houses and how they were built as an upp-side down kanoe. I Think this was one of the best guided tours I ever have taken part in.

Our guide Mark is so knowledgeable about this beautiful island and its customs, he is a walking encyclopedia, lots of fun. We felt like this tour was custom made for us as being a private tour we were the only participants. It was simply wonderful, stunning views and so many surprises. I loved that Mark took photos of us at varying angles to give us a unique experience. We saw all the highlights, everything one would expect to see but then there was so much more, just simply a tour not to be missed.

The 11 of us really enjoyed the 2 half and a full day tour on Easter Island with Marc. He was super nice and patient with us since we stopped longer at each site taking millions of pictures. We had so many great shots thanks to his professional suggestions and arrangements at each moai statue site. Thank you Marc, for giving us such a memorable tour! Green Island Tour is highly recommended if you plan to visit Easter Island.
My husband and I travel often. And have had many great experiences, however Green Island tours was the best we have ever dealt with. Every guide was on time, personable, full of knowledge and accommodating. We had very limited time on the island (3.5 days). We felt we saw every inch and experienced so much. Of course we could have stayed longer as there is much to do, but for our limited time we really got an amazing sense of Easter Island. I have a big personality and expect a lot out of my vacations. I do not like wasted time or down time. This was sensed quickly by green island tours and I loved every minute. Along with my big personality I like to take a million pictures and videos etc. Not only was Green Island Tours accommodating they always knew the best spot and the best shots. People are obsessing over my photos. We almost didn't go to Easter Island bc of lack of time. What a shame that would have been as it is one of our favorite experiences to do date. Green Islans Tours is like family to us now. 💕💕 If you want a preview of the beauty you HAVE to get the Easter Island coffee table book Marc created. It is STUNNING!
