Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke English very well. She gave us good insight at each of the locations. We enjoyed going to the different sites and hearing the details. We would definitely recommend this tour to others.

Davi's tour is fully packed with activities and culture, you get to see a great deal of the island and attractions, highly recommended.
Booking through Trip Advisor Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We went on an expensive full day tour , the pick up was late and were squeezed into a small car. We were given minimal information at each site Overall the tour including the guide did not meet our expectations . It would have been better hiring a local independent guide.
Today was my first full day on Rapa Nui (Easter Island), and what a day it was. I took a Viator tour led by Bie, a multi-generational Rapa Nui woman whose gentle voice and deep connection to nature made the history come alive. She shared stories passed down through her family for generations, and my soul was truly filled. We began by exploring ancient volcanic caves, including Ana Te Pahu, where natural openings, water and humidity created fertile places for growing bananas and other crops. The caves also provided shelter and refuge. We saw the foundations of ancient hare paenga—stone houses shaped like overturned canoes. The carefully fitted lava stones had holes where wooden supports were secured. Bie said that when her ancestors first arrived, they used their boats as roofs for their homes, and over time they became almost obsessed with that familiar shape. Then we visited Ahu Akivi and its seven moai, traditionally believed to represent the seven Polynesian explorers who came to Rapa Nui ahead of King Hotu Matu'a. They are unusual because they face toward the sea and, symbolically, toward Polynesia. We also visited an unrestored site where fallen moai and their pukao still lie scattered across the landscape. Bie explained that the moai represented ancestors and served as protectors and guardians of their clans. During conflicts, destroying a rival clan's moai would have been a powerful symbolic blow. We ended at Orongo, a sacred ceremonial village perched on the rim of the enormous Rano Kau volcano. Bie showed us the ancient stone houses and told stories of births, warriors and the famous Birdman ceremonies. Standing on the rim of the volcano that helped create this island was simply breathtaking. It was a day filled with ancient stories, incredible stonework, volcanic landscapes, and a culture that is still alive today. I am exhausted—but my soul is very full. ❤️🌺
My cruise ship could not tender therefore excursion never took place. Viator should know that and not send for review.
If you are travelling by cruise ship do not book with Viator or Nicholas Easter Island tours in advance. We were due to arrive this morning but Captain said it was too rough and would be unsafe for tender operation. Contacted Nicholas via whatsapp amd viator message zero response. Offered a lousy 50%. Steer clear of Viator and Nicholas
The guide and driver were excellent. The guide had detailed knowledge of each destination. The low rating is because this is not a full day tour. We were only out for 3 hours, which might have been 4 except one site was closed. It should be advertised and priced as a half day tour.
The tour was good as we got around to see all the main parts in the south side. Some people on the tour did drag out the day a bit and the tour guide was stressed because of this but apart from that we were able to get one on one time with our guide and she gave us some really good insights of life on the island. She also knows what to see and when due to the weather. We had a great time
Our guide Ms. Hiva offered an authentic tour experience on Rapa Nui, connecting visitors to the islands living culture through stories of ancient legends and present-day life. Ms. Hiva is a native of Rapa Nui who shares a deep love and respect for her ancestors. The tour left me with a strong understanding of the culture of the island and the urgency needed to preserve its precious heritage. For those interested, Ms. Hiva has appeared in several travel features, including productions facilitated by National Geographic Expeditions.
Unfortunately, our experience with this tour was disappointing. The company missed our confirmed pickup, and we had to reach out ourselves before transportation was arranged to bring us to the tour already in progress. During the tour, the guide also mentioned that we were not originally on her list. In addition, several advertised stops from the itinerary were not visited. After the tour, the company explained that some sites were closed due to weather and safety concerns. While we understand weather conditions can affect tours, this was never communicated to us by the guide during the tour, nor were we informed beforehand that the itinerary would change. This was only communicated after the tour had finished and when I reached out for answers. The tour also ended much earlier than the advertised 6-hour duration, and from pickup to drop-off it was barely 4 hours for us. I do appreciate that the company later acknowledged the pickup mistake and responded to our concerns. I hope this feedback can help improve communication and coordination for future guests, especially for travelers with limited time on the island.
An experience of a lifetime! We saw and learned so much in one day.
Eva the lady guide speaks very good English and has been very patient. She and the driver looked after us well and made sure she explained in English to us and another Frence gentleman. Despite her forgot to bring drinking water, she spoke throughout the entire journey and was not stingy to share information whilst answering questions even in the rains. The whole tour was not eishoat all.
Was Awesome Ture guide was knowledgeable and very entertaining We got to see all that was on my list of to do on Easter Island
Itinerary was great. But we signed up foran English tour and this one had a mix of Spanish and English. It was very frustrating, especially because we are almost fluent and she was clearly giving more information in Spanish than English. There were other people that only understood English and we needed to keep reminding her to translate everything to English. We had to stand up for the only English guests. Moreover, the incessant drone of commentary in 2 languages really wore on me.
Eva our tour guide was extremely impressive with her knowledge of the island. She is very proud of her traditions and heritage and this makes the trip even more memorable. Well done tour!!
This is not a tour that takes you to see the main sites on the Island. This is a typical second day tour. It does not last a full day 10 to 3....basically. After this tour we booked a tour locally to see the main sites. This starts with a trip through a cave which is wet and slippery...not a problem for us but we expected to see the Moai's. Since you have to have a guide, we had to book a second tour...the guide was good....I consider this a 1/2 day tour.
It took quite a while to get going. We had to wait for several people. That was understandable, but we felt the guide could have kept us better informed. He also arrived later than we were told, which made it difficult to find him. The entire tour, we felt he was unhelpful and not very enthusiastic or engaged. He did not keep us informed of the next stop or how long it would take to get there. He was not involved in getting people organized for lunch or making sure people’s orders were taken or help people to pay quickly so we didn’t finish that stop on time. The tour ran over by about 2 hours, and then he was pushing us to go to one more stop when there were now concerns about returning to the ship on time. No one wanted to risk being late. He felt getting on the last tender would be fine. The group did not agree. His helper was great. He deserves 5 stars.
The guide seemed hurry and push the time at every sites. She did not give us a lunch break. The whole tour ended at 2:40 pm without a notice and “good-bye”. It is good to give us the information, but she exchanged the English and Spanish pieces by pieces , making some difficult to understand.
The tour was very interesting. The guide and driver picked us up on time from our hotel and made the tour informative and enjoyable.
We were visiting Easter Island via cruise ship so we only had a day to experience the mysteries of the island. To visit the moai has been a bucket list item for me. The boys from Hotumatur Rapa Nui tours did not disappoint. The itinerary was a great selection of the sites and they knew their history and culture. It was a terrific day out and I thoroughly recommend them.
Excellent view into the history of Rapa Nui, I learned so much! Was very happy to see the sites included in this tour.
In the land of the Moai, almost 1000, we saw 7. There were 23 people on our bus. The tour guide also drove, so there was no narrative while he was driving. There were both English & Spanish speakers so discussions and questions had to be translated.. We visited 6 sites including a cave. The cave took over an hour, to walk to it and through it. It was dark and we had to use cell phone flashlights, lots of water on the floor and low ceilings. Completed waste of time. Some of the remaining 5 sites in 3 hours were good, others not. When the guy told us we were at our last (the 6th site) most of us were surprised. He then took us back to the pickup site. We did tip him but from what we saw, no one else did. Sorry we missed more of Easter Island.
Guide was knowledgeable and easy to understand. We were able to visit all of the sites listed. We felt comfortable with driver. I highly recomend this tour!
This is not what I was expecting! Name of the sites are unfamiliar but this tour won't bring you to those famous sites like 15 Moai place and moai factory. Instead some less known places like some ancient caves... This is actually the second day of two days tour
This tour was amazing. Merahi was so knowledgeable and patient in answering all our questions. Mauricio was an excellent driver. They made a final stop that had the best view of the volcano for our pics. They have our top recommendation.
The tour was very well managed and our guide Enzo was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. The communication was seamless and enough time given to spend on different sites. Highly recommended..!!!
Very good tour with great explanations from Frank about the Quarry / caves / birdman cult. Unfortunately we had to be quick going around Orongo/volcano due to a recent landslide but Frank explained the history in the visitor centre.
We very much enjoyed our tour. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and was able to explain much of the history and culture of the island. We had plenty of time at each spot on the tour to wander about and take photos. There were remarkably few other tours at each site we visited. There were only two things that we did not have a chance to see - the Moai quarry and one of the Moai with a full torso.
Pros: Very knowledgeable guide, passionate about topic and spoke in very good English Arrived on time and stuck to schedule Value for money (cheap compared to other tours) Cons: The guide didn’t take time to introduce each site, or take questions afterwards, just spoke at each site once. She didn’t always wait to speak to entire group, leaving people at the back without information The bus we drove in was dirty bus, with no fresh air in heat
We loved the tour, since we got to explore the best on the west side of the island, including caves and a vulcano.
Very good tour. They picked us up at the agreed upon time. We drove to several sites and got lots of historical info. Returned back to our hotel. Guide and driver were great.
We did another tour with the same company to explore several key sites across the island, and it was just as excellent as the sunrise tour. Our guide, Javi, was fantastic—she’s part of the local council and brought an incredible depth of historical and cultural knowledge to the experience. She was friendly, engaging, and happy to answer all our questions. We stopped for refreshments along the way, and everything was really well-paced. Pickup and drop-off at our hotel made things super convenient. The views were absolutely stunning, and it was amazing to learn the stories and meaning behind the statues and the island’s history. A truly enriching experience—we’d highly recommend this tour!
We booked the sunrise tour to Ahu Tongariki the evening before, and the process was super easy. We were able to pay in Chilean pesos, and pickup from our hotel was right on time. Our guide, Tavi, was incredibly friendly, and made sure we had a great experience. One of our friends accidentally left her purse at the hotel, and Tavi kindly picked it up and brought it back to us. The views at sunrise were absolutely breathtaking—truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Highly recommend this tour.
Very nice tour and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Van was a little tight and uncomfortable for our full group (full standard van of 11 people- no empty seats). Our guide even offered to take pictures which was nice
Grab your water & snack/lunch and get ready for a fabulous day all around the whole Island! We learned so much about the history of the native Rapa Nui people and the creation of the magnificent Moai statues. Fernanda and Nicolas are absolutely amazing; they take great care of the group all day!
Absolutely amazing two days. I have wanted to visit Rapa Nui for over 50 years and it did not disappoint. Simon was a superb guide. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the history, culture and community of the island.
I believe the tour guide makes the tour, and unfortunately, our tour guide for this tour wasn't so great. Just the day before, we had an awesome guide for another full-day tour of the island's sites, and even before that, several different great guides in and around Santiago, but this guy was just a dud compared to all the others. Once we were all picked up from our respective hotels, the guide said absolutely nothing to us as we headed to our first stop--no introduction of his name or background, no overview of the day's tour, nothing about where we were headed--just absolutely zero info. When we arrived at our first stop, I had to actually ask him what his name was, which is just totally bizarre and ridiculous. At each site, he did provide some info, but the other issue was that this was listed as an English tour, but he was doing a combo English and Spanish, so everything took twice as long, so a lot of time wasted. Plus, he seemed more interested in speaking with the Spanish tour members than with those who spoke English and just overall really seemed to not have much interest in any of the sites we were exploring. Also, this was a long tour (9am-4pm), and although we did have a few bathroom stops, which we didn't know about it until we actually got to them, there was zero offer to maybe stop for snacks in case anyone was feeling a bit hungry. I know the tour did say to bring snacks, which we did, but all the other tours still offered to stop at places for people to grab something quick if they were hungry. In the end, I'm glad I saw the sites, but it just would've been way better with another tour guide with a better personality and who was more informative and enthusiastic about the tour.
If you don't speak Spanish - better to avoid this tour, guide does not look professional enough. I really compare with other guides in Atacama and also in Patagonia, where I had wonderful tours. This tour is continuous disappointment. Pick up time 40min in such small place. Car was dirty, front seat's pocket full with empty yoghurts pots, when informed about this to the tour operator - they were arguing instead of at least saying sorry or to ask driver-guide to do something. We were attending places not in order as it was advertised. From 10:30 until 13:00 we were around airport. Really regret I booked this.
Excellent, informative tour of many of the significant sites in Rapa Nui National Park. Our guide, Enrique, gave us a great backdrop of the historical, cultural, and natural significance of each site we visited. Since the entire national park is too big and spread out to be seen in one day, this tour is an excellent way to experience about half of the park’s main sites.
The tour guide was a lovely young lady who was very patient with my many, many questions. She gave lots of information and had a sweet disposition
We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide is native Rapa Nui and takes pride in his culture so he was a wealth of information and answered all our many questions. The Moai sites are fascinating.
Both the guide and the translator were awesome. Very informative if the sites we experienced The transportation was a little interesting Overall great experience
It was a great tour. There was a driver and an experienced guide who was a native Rapa Nui, but spoke English fluently and took us to all the sites as time permitted before the cruise ship departed.
I just had one clear day in Rapa Nui and finally homed on to this trip. I must admit that there could not have been a better experience. All the essentials were covered in a beautiful mini bus with ten odd more people. We learned the history of the place, the most debated Maui statues, their creation process and many more social evolution aspects during the day. The pace was perfect with the day ending up at the coral beach with a choice of three restaurants and some lovely local food choices. But most of all our guide Kainoa was my hero of the day. He explained it all like a deeply committed social historian filled with enthusiasm and earnestness. Thanks Hotumatur Rapa Nui
This tour was supposed to be an English tour. But the driver/ guides couldn't speak much English. But the tour was wonderful.
This is a very short tour. Not exactly full day. It started late as a driver didn’t show for work so it was 10 am-3: 30 pm. The guide Roberto sang and played a ukelele while walking us around. That was nice but the information was a bit lacking. Our second tour had a much more informed guide. Since the tour involved the “whole day”, it was not easy when there’s no stop for lunch and no water or snacks were provided. All other tours either provided lunch or made a stop for us to buy lunch and those that went pass noon provided water and snacks. You should read the sites the tour visits. It only shows one with Moai, the seven. If you want to see more, take a tour that goes to the quarry. We did that the next day.
A full day tour that covers six sites around the island. A huge shout out to Esteban, our energetic, informative and engaging guide, and to the super organized staff at Rapa Nui Dreams. An excellent experience overall, and a great way to see the iconic sights of Rapa Nui. Highly recommended!
We missed the actual sunrise... only got to the site when the sky was grey, all the nice colours were gone... so it's very disappointing
Reading some of the previous reviews which are more negative I was a bit apprehensive about this booking. However, I need not have worried. Our guide Zoe was excellent and really showcased the island. This was a great day and we learned a lot about Rapa Nui culture. There was the option of a lunch stop (which we didn’t take) and there is bathrooms/toilets stops along the way - 2 of the stops. Overall, would recommend, but in hindsight I should have booked this as the two day tour.
Saw many good things but communication was poor. The guide may have been knowledgeable but did little to engage the group. They never shared an overview of the day, where we were going, how long we would be there, what we would see, or when we could expect restrooms. There was one restroom two hours into the trip. That was it. People were left guessing until the bus door opened what we were in for. Also, it was advertised as an English speaking guide, however, it was also a Spanish speaking tour so everything was repeated in both languages resulting in spending too much time in certain places
