Itinerary
Discover Anakena, the legendary white-sand beach where, according to Rapa Nui tradition, the first settlers led by King Hotu Matu'a arrived on the island. Visitors will explore the beautifully restored Ahu Nau Nau, home to some of the best-preserved moai on Rapa Nui, admire their intricate carvings, and enjoy the unique combination of archaeology, history, and tropical scenery that makes Anakena one of the island's most iconic locations.
Visit Te Pito Kura, home to the largest moai ever successfully erected on an ahu platform. Here, travelers will learn about the final stages of moai construction and the island's ancient engineering achievements. The site also features the famous "Te Pito o Te Henua" stone, a rounded volcanic rock associated with local legends and believed by some to possess special energy.
Explore Papa Vaka, one of the most important petroglyph sites on Rapa Nui. Travelers will walk among volcanic rock surfaces covered with ancient carvings depicting canoes, sea creatures, and other symbols connected to the island's maritime traditions. Your guide will explain how these petroglyphs provide valuable insight into the daily life, navigation practices, and beliefs of the ancient Rapa Nui people.
Visit Ahu Tongariki, the largest ceremonial platform on Rapa Nui and one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Polynesia. Travelers will stand before fifteen restored moai aligned along the coastline while learning about the island's clan system, ancestral worship, and the remarkable restoration project that returned the statues to their standing position after a devastating tsunami.
Explore Rano Raraku, the volcanic quarry where nearly all of the island's moai were carved. Travelers will walk among hundreds of statues in various stages of completion, gaining a unique understanding of how these monumental figures were created. The site offers an extraordinary glimpse into the artistic, spiritual, and engineering achievements of the ancient Rapa Nui civilization.
Visit Rano Kau, the largest volcanic crater on Rapa Nui and one of the island's most spectacular natural landmarks. Travelers will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the crater lake, dramatic cliffs, and the Pacific Ocean while learning about the geological forces that shaped the island and the importance of this landscape in Rapa Nui history and culture.
Explore Orongo, the ceremonial village associated with the Birdman cult, the last major religious tradition of ancient Rapa Nui society. Travelers will walk among restored stone houses perched on the edge of dramatic sea cliffs and admire extensive petroglyphs depicting Birdman figures and the creator deity Make Make. From here, they will also enjoy spectacular views of the offshore islets where the famous Birdman competition took place.

Booked the one day highlight tour with kokau following the recommendation from our hotel and we could not be happier with the experience. Our guide Alberto is not only professional, informative, but also fun to talk to. His English is superb. It was the best private tour we had during our chile trip. We visited all major Moais and Ahus (6 sites) in one compact day and learnt so much history and anecdotes about the Easter island that was otherwise impossible to learn had we chosen to explore on our own. At the end of the day, we felt we were already hanging out with a friend and bonding. Thank you Alberto for making our day and all the best to you and your team!
I ran into Alberto by chance on the street and asked him where I could buy a ticket for the reserve. He explained the details and asked if I had already booked an organized tour. He mentioned that he was a guide and offered to take me on a private tour. It was indeed an expensive tour, but well worth the price; it was tailored to my pace and allowed me to ask about—and discuss—topics unrelated to the tour itself, such as the economy, education, the cost of living, and healthcare, as well as engage in personal conversations. Alberto’s English is excellent and very clear, and he possesses extensive historical knowledge and a background in archaeological research on the island.
The tour was perfect. Moana spent in-depth time at key locations of the itinerary: Rano Kau, Orongo, Rano Raraku, Tongariki, and Anakena. Her knowledge and experience highlighted important aspects of the Rapa Nui people, culture, history, and current day activities. We gained insights and understanding that was far beyond our expectation. The drive included highlights of what we could observe along the way accompanied by beautiful local music. We were very touched by our guide playing and singing music during part of our time at Tongariki. We also had a wonderful lunch stop and even dipped our feet into the ocean for a refreshing moment.
Our guides name was Alberto , he took my son and I on a 1 day tour of Rapa Nui and sun rise photos of Moai and many other locations we saw all the best sites and finished the day at the volcano. Alberto was extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of Rapa Nui history. As well he recommend some great places for eating. When I return back here I will definitely reach out to Alberto and check out some more sites . As for today my Son and I had an unforgettable day .
The full day tour was incredible. We were picked up from our hotel and visited the highlights of the island, in a tour very well organized. The explanations on the history of the island were very interesting and we had sufficient time to appreciate the views, so to never feel rushed. On top of it, we got some recommendations and tips on what to do during the remaining days of our stay in Rapa Nui. Super recommended!
Alberto, our guide, was fantastic and very knowledgeable. My Mum has mobility issues but he really helped to build the tour around what she could do and was very helpful. The tour itself was great as we visited the main attractions and learned a lot about the history and cultural background of the island. I would highly recommend booking this tour as we had a truly once in a lifetime experience.
An Unforgettable experience in Rapa Nui, a absolute must-do in life. Our tour of Easter Island was nothing short of magical, and easily the highlight of our entire trip. From the very beginning, the communication with the tour company was seamless and well organized. Our local guide Alberto was spectacular, not only did they have a profound, deep knowledge of the island’s history and archaeology, but they also shared fascinating stories about the Rapa Nui culture from a true local perspective.
We had such an amazing time with Alberto, he is the nicest! From the very beginning he made the whole experience feel special. He explained the history, culture and beauty of Rapa Nui and it was really interesting. We learnt a lot about the preservation of the Moais as well. He took us to stunning places and shared many little details to appreciate the island even more, it’s unique. You can really tell how passionate he is about what he does. We enjoyed the first tour so much that we ended up booking more days with him, and it was honestly one of the best decisions of our trip. If you’re visiting Rapa Nui, I can’t recommend Alberto enough. Thank you!! Hopefully we’ll come back again!
My partner and I did a one day tour of Rapa Nui with Alberto Castel Rapu that was a superb introduction to the island, combining history, geography, fantastic views and some excellent hiking. Alberto was a very knowledgeable and personable host - would highly recommend this as a way to get an overall picture of the island.
We had a two-day tour with Alberto, and it was an excellent experience. He is a knowledgeable and attentive guide who took us to the best spots on the island, explaining everything in great detail. His insights into the island’s history, culture, legends, and unique features made the experience both enjoyable and educational. Alberto also picked us up from and dropped us off at our hotel, making the entire tour even more convenient and stress-free. Another great advantage is that Alberto offers tours in both English and Spanish, making his services accessible to travelers from different countries. We highly recommend Alberto to anyone visiting the island. It was truly a memorable experience!
I loved the experience, the quality of the information provided made the day very entertaining.
Excellent guide, lots of information, answered all questions, very attentive and kind, I recommend him 100%.
If you are planning to go to Easter Island, I strongly advise you to book a guided tour, no matter how many days you plan to spend there. The guided tour we took (my wife and I) lasted almost the entire day. The guide was exceptional; we communicated with him in English, but he also knew how to speak a little French. He showed us all the corners of the island (not just the Moai), and we were able to take beautiful photos. What I liked most was the intensity of the trip... the guide knew how to adapt to our pace perfectly. Once again, we want to thank Alberto for showing us, quite simply, the most beautiful place in the world.
Excellent tour experience, the guide had an excellent attitude, was very friendly, had excellent historical knowledge, was very engaging, and created a very pleasant atmosphere during the trip. 100/10... Highly recommended!!
Wonderful experience. The island is spectacular, so it is worth visiting with people who make it a tour you want to repeat, and that is exactly what happened. 1000% recommended
Excellent tour and the best guide on the island. We were lucky enough to tour Rapa Nui with Albert. In addition to being kind and friendly, he has an impressive command of local history and traditions, answering every question with a lot of patience and enthusiasm. If you come to Rapa Nui, do not hesitate to take the tour with him.
