Esteban was super knowledgeable and very friendly. The sites were amazing and the park system to get in worked smoothly. We have been talking all day about all the information we learned.

Our adventure begins at Vaihu, a sacred site where a series of fallen Moai still resonate with the echo of their powerful past. The ocean wind will be your soundtrack as you explore this intriguing archaeological site.
From Vaihu, we move on to Akahanga, where kings once ruled. Here, you will see an Ahu (ceremonial platform) with twelve Moai, and you can stroll through the ruins of ancient dwellings, providing an unforgettable glimpse into the traditional Rapa Nui lifestyle.
We continue on to Rano Raraku, also known as the "Moai Quarry." This is the birthplace of the Moai, where over 400 of these majestic statues remain unfinished, scattered on the mountain slopes. The panoramic view of the quarry and the crater lake will leave you breathless.
The next stop is Tongariki, home to the island's largest and most impressive Ahu. Here, fifteen Moai stand tall against the backdrop of the Pacific blue, offering a spectacular view that symbolizes the power and engineering of the ancient Rapa Nui civilization.
Next, we will visit Te Pito Kura, the site of the largest Moai ever successfully relocated and the mysterious magnetic stone, known as the "Navel of the World." Immerse yourself in the legends and mystique that surround this sacred place.
Finally, we conclude our journey at the idyllic Anakena beach, a tropical paradise with palm trees and crystal-clear waters. Here you can enjoy a relaxing swim, reflect on the wonders you have seen, and feel the energy of this ancient and mysterious land.

I absolutely love it! I think it’s one of the most incredible places to visit! And the tour was great
Totally informative and enjoyable day. Eva was our English-speaking guide and she was fantastic: knowledgeable and easy to understand, enthusiastic and entertaining. Our driver (Rogrigo, I believe) was very professional and the van was in good condition and comfortable. There were 12 of us in the group and the total trip time was 7.5 hours, which my wife and I found to be just right. We totally recommend this tour!
Today I spent the day exploring some of the most incredible archaeological sites on Rapa Nui. We started at Ahu Vaihu, where fallen moai still lie among the ancient stones with the Pacific as a backdrop. From there we visited Ahu Akahanga, the remains of an ancient ceremonial center once associated with Rapa Nui royalty. Then came the highlight—Rano Raraku, the volcanic quarry where more than 400 moai remain, including many unfinished statues still carved into and scattered around the mountainside. Seeing them in the place where they were actually created was incredible. We finished at Ahu Tongariki, the island's largest ceremonial platform, with 15 enormous moai standing together against the Pacific. Everywhere we went, there were reminders of the extraordinary skill, determination and culture of the Rapa Nui people. It's hard to describe how powerful it feels to stand among these ancient monuments and realize how much history is beneath your feet. Another unforgettable day on this remarkable island. 🌺🌊🗿
The guide and driver were amazing! The guide was well versed in the history and culture of Rapa Nui. You will love this tour.
The tour was as advertised and the places were amazing to see. The guide seem knowledgeable and could answer the questions that I had. The tour was in both English and Spanish, even though we had booked an English tour. The guide spoke at length in Spanish and gave us only a brief summary in English. I felt like I was getting less of a tour than the Spanish speakers.
Not so friendly guide, being rude to some of the people of the group. Very few details of each site visited
If you are looking to learn more about the history and culture of Rapa Nui, this is a great excursion to get a taste. This is a half day tour and a great opportunity to see the main sights of the island. Also shout out to Kino (tour guide) for being very kind and knowledgeable about the history of the island, and also to Estevan (driver) for also being very nice!
It was an awesome experience. Route and story telling were good. Our guide Emilie was very professional.
We had a good experience with the tour. There was a slight mixup with the pickup but nothing major. Emilia was very knowledgeable and did a great job.
A really good day trip around Rapa Nui, which became an excellent trip because of Frank, our guide. We visited most of the important places in the island and Anakena, the best beach at the island
Our guide is very knowledgeable with fluency English. The time to each site is managed well, excepting the beach could be better if give us a full 1 hour instead of 45-50 min.
Fab tour and guide Enrique was great. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the big sights on Easter Island.
I enjoyed this tour, but wished that I’d had one more day on Rapa Nui so I could have seen the other 1/2 of the island. The guide didn’t introduce himself formally to the group, but he had quite a lot of knowledge. The highlight was the quarry, so many Moai to see: I would skip having lunch there though, as it felt expensive for what is was (and some of my chicken was not cooked). Overall this was a nice way to see some key sites on the island, and last stop is Anakena beach for a swim. I do wish that there was a 3rd option for the tour which combined the best sites from this tour and the best sites from the other tour as that would have been perfect
Not enough time at the sites, felt very rushed. I had to choose between taking photos or listening to the explanations. Get a private guide if you can.
This has been the best tour we’ve participated in. The guide was very knowledgeable about his culture, which helped us understand the whole travel experience much better. All the sites were very well maintained and easy to walk through without causing any harm to so much unknown history. We would definitely use the same agency again without any problem.
We enjoyed our experience very much, with Merahe as our guide and Julio as our driver. We visited 6 sites within the NP which gave us a good overview of the history, legends, theories of the moai and what they represented, how they were carved and quarried and why. Julio played native music as he drove and quietly sang along , which was very special for those of us could hear him. We hiked on our own to the crater which I also highly recommend. The whole day was very unique and Easter Island is special place we will never forget and highly recommend!
This was by far the worst tour I’ve joined since arriving in South America. I booked the Hotu Matua Tour on Easter Island, and it turned out to be a complete waste of both time and money. The tour guide was extremely unprofessional and had a poor attitude throughout the day. She constantly started her explanations when only two or three people had caught up, ignoring the rest of the group (11 people in total). To make matters worse, she often spoke while facing the Moai statues or the sea — it was impossible to hear her properly, especially given the strong wind and rain that day. The ground was muddy and slippery, yet she never waited for the group to stay together. I eventually gave up halfway through because it was just too difficult to follow along, and by the end of the tour, I had learned almost nothing about Rapa Nui’s history or culture. The worst moment came after lunch. My period came unexpectedly, and before boarding the bus, I told her I needed the toilet. She rolled her eyes and gave me a speech about how I had “plenty of time before” and should wait until the next stop instead. When I explained that my period had started early, she rolled her eyes again and told me to “be quick about it.” I rushed to the bus to grab my sanitary items, only for her to close the bus door and tell the driver to start driving. I had to stop her and run to the toilet anyway. Ironically, after all that fuss, we later spent over 1.5 hours doing nothing at Akakena Beach in the rain. At the end of the day, the driver dropped off the guide before finishing the rest of the hotel drop-offs, leaving the entire group shocked by her lack of professionalism. To make things worse, I later found out that other tours were cancelled or rescheduled that day due to the wind and rain — so not only was this one badly run, it probably shouldn’t have happened at all. The tour is also more expensive than other options on the island, yet offers far worse value. I walked away feeling frustrated and disappointed. Save yourself the trouble and book with another company — this one ruined my experience on Easter Island.
Great way to explore and visit the best sightseeing on the east side of the island, which is the furthest from Hanga Roa. We are very pleased on having chosen this tour.
Packed a lot into the day. Saw so many different Moai. The 15 standing tall along a platform by the sea were magnificent. The history and legends very interesting. Guide spoke good English.
My partner and I are extremely grateful for this experience. Our guide, Vaikava, was incredibly knowledgeable about all the sites, her English was excellent, and her time management was impressively practical. She is clearly a passionate and experienced guide. Highly recommended!
We really enjoyed this tour. The guide was super nice and knowledgeable, the moais were of course amazing, and we got some great pics as well.
This Tour has great potential. Unfortunately, the weather conditions messed it up completely and we came into heavy rainfalls when visiting the most interesting and memorable sights. I can imagine that in good weather, it is a breathtaking experience as you can take your time and enjoy the scenery and mystic atmosphere of Rapa Nui. The guide seemed a bit shy and didn‘t speak much. Instead he would ask us if we had questions. All in all, I give this tour a 4-star rating as I am quite sure it can be truly magical if the weather is on your side.
The places we visited in that tour are absolutely great and signature for the Easter Island. I believe this route is quite standard for different agencies. Volcano Ranu Raraku and platform Ahu Tongariki are jewels of the tour. However, our guide, Tavita, didn't have a lot of knowledge, and if we wouldn't read a book about the island before, it would be really hard to dive into the context. Storytelling was really weak, and he often couldn't find a right word in English. Next day wea had a tour with another agency and guide and could perfectly evaluate the difference in the knowledge and engagement level. It was a bonus though - no need to stay near by the guide and afraid to miss info:)) Also, be prepared that at the very beginning the bus picks up all participants which takes around an hour and at the end of tour - same process to deliver everyone to their accommodations. So realistically, tour starts around 10.30 - 11 am and ends at 4.15pm (after that time - just a ride to home). Just accept it as a reality to save your nerves:)
Gabriel is a great guide. His English is very good and he is very knowledgeable about the island. The tour is very smooth.
Great Value for a one-day tour of Easter Island! Guides are currently required for visits the most interesting spots, so booking a tour is hard to avoid. We were provided with fun and knowledgeable local guide who fluently spoke English and Spanish. Our itinerary stopped for lunch late (at 3:00pm), but since all tours run the same stops, being off-cycle meant we got some sites to ourselves while other tours stopped for lunch! The tour was a perfect day to see the major sites on Easter
No snack no water. But at least this one was a full day 10am-4/5pm. All the sights great. Not rushed. Food at beach was good.
great tour to see all the sites required with a guide. enzo was full of knowledge and spoke good english. it’s a full day so bring lots of snacks and water. beach visit at 3pm ish is the only chance to buy hot food & drinks. thanks for the wicked day! also make sure to buy your national park ticket before heading on tour as there is no signal to buy online, someone made the mistake of thinking you could buy once you arrive to the sites!!
It was a group tour with about 12 people total. I was the only non-Spanish speaker but nonetheless the tour guide spoke fluent English and it was never a problem.
Our guide was excellent, knowledgeable about the monuments and their traditions, she brings a special energy and a smile the whole time, she really made our day unforgettable, the photos were super
We had an incredible time, a truly excellent experience
I was able to cover the main points of Easter Island. The guide's explanations were easy to understand, and the tour was satisfying due to their thoughtfulness. The pickup and drop-off were also very helpful. We'll have lunch at a restaurant again, but you can skip it if you want.
The guide for this excursion gave many explanations and was very interesting.
Excellent experience for going as a family
Excellent experience on the Anakena tour. The landscapes are truly incredible and learning about the history of Rapa Nui in each place makes the tour even more special. The guide was very kind, attentive, and explained everything clearly and entertainingly. Without a doubt, a tour totally recommended for those visiting the island. An unforgettable experience!!!
Excellent tour, there were 8 of us, so we were able to enjoy the experience better. They picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel on time. Our guide Fernando was excellent, showing us photos and explaining many facts and anecdotes about the places we were visiting with a tablet. Honestly, I don't think the private tour is worth it because it is twice as expensive and in the end you are still going to be surrounded by more people from other tours. I recommend doing at least the one that includes a visit to Rano Raraku and Tongariki, two must-sees.
Excellent tour, the guide was very knowledgeable and had a way of telling the story that made it very enjoyable. They were punctual in picking us up at our hotel, and the program unfolded as indicated. I believe they commonly refer to this tour on the Island as the Full Day. Places we visited: Vaihu, Ahu Akahanga, Rano Raraku volcano and quarry, Ahu Tongariki, Ahu Te Pito Kura, the magnetic stone called "Navel of the World," and Anakena beach. The time spent at Anakena will depend on the free time available, which is relative to between 30 and 45 minutes. There are no words to describe this tour and also others we did; Easter Island is a wonder in itself. Within the itinerary, there is a stop for those who wish to have lunch, everything is very delicious. Approximate cost is 25 dollars. In any case, lunch is optional; if you wish, you can bring your own lunch. In that place, the suggested tip is 15%.
The excursion was a little short because they cut a part because it rained. On this island it rains frequently. The guide has explained very little.
Wonderful experience! It was my first tour on the island and could not have been better. Our guide (Tao) was super attentive, cheerful and gave us a lot of important information to know more deeply the history of the island and the people of Rapanui. I indicate too much to everyone!
I did 3 tours with Hotumatur and all very well, I was picked up at the hotel and the guides: Emilia, Soe and Fernando, very charismatic, worried about each passenger and with a lot of knowledge of each place. Thank you very much for the experience
I have just returned from one of the best tours on the island and I still have goose bumps, so I feel a moral obligation to pass this on to you because my trip would not have been half as amazing without the people of Hotumatur. If you are planning to go to the island and don’t book with them, I really tell you that you will be left with only the surface of what is this magical place. From the moment I set foot at the airport, the logistics were impeccable and I completely forgot about the schedules and the stress because they have everything under control with a warmth that makes you feel like you arrived at the house of some friends of your life. But what really blew my mind was the human factor; they are not guides who repeat a boring libretto, they are wonderful people (especially Enzo and emilia) who carry the culture in their blood and tell you the legends of the moai with a passion that excites you to tears. We took the dawn tour in Ahu Tongariki and to see the sun rise behind those 15 giant figures was a mystical experience that I will never forget, especially for the details and respect they give to each sacred site. We also made Rano Raraku and ended up on Anakena Beach, which is literally a paradise of white sand and palm trees where you are taken care of in every detail. In addition, if you are looking for something beyond the ordinary, you have to ask about your personalized experiences such as riding to the Terevaka or diving trips, because the team that works there is from another planet, super professional and with infinite patience. They solve any doubts on WhatsApp instantly and are watching to make every photo perfect and every moment special. Don’t waste time comparing agencies that are just looking to fill a bus; if you want to live the true essence of Polynesia and be treated as a family, Hotumatur is the only real option. Book with them with your eyes closed, I swear it's the best decision you can make to make your trip to the island forever life-changing.
Great tour with all the essential sights. We especially liked the last stop at Anakena Beach, be sure to pack bathing suits.
Loved it, All tidy, well guided and organized.
Make the tours less fast, in certain places we seemed to be running.
Too good tour! The guide Tau was super friendly, answered all the questions we asked, you can see that she knows a lot about the Rapanui history and showed concern that we were all well, we went at our own pace. The places are wonderful!
Taking the tours with this agency was a unique experience. The whole tour was guided by local people, who not only know the island, but also convey its history and culture with incredible love and clarity. The guides are true historians of Rapa Nui, and listening to their stories brings each place to life. More than a tour, it feels like a kind of story told by those who really carry the island in their hearts. Just excellent.
Very good experience, the guides are local, so they tell everything with great affection and wisdom, besides being super friendly, we went with children and they had all the patience in the world that the boys understood the stories, or stopped whenever someone wanted to go to the bathroom, it was a pleasant tour. I highly recommend it.
Super!! I highly recommend it, we fell asleep and they waited for us and everything, without any bad face, and they only laughed because we had a lot of reed lol
I took the full day tour to hotu matua and loved it, the guide explained everything super well and answered all the doubts we had. Totally satisfied with the agency I liked it
