Two key highlights. The amazing sights on the island and our guide, Esteban. Was a real pinch me moment to be here and see the historical artefacts. This was enhanced with Esteban's explanation and unique way of explaining actions of 800yrs ago to current behaviour and societal practices. One small negative was the headlamps provided for a cave walk. They were low strength and several of us needed to be very cautious as we couldn't see clearly.

We booked our two day tour directly with Hotumatur, who had a special deal if you booked them together. Our guide was Emilia, who was excellent. We really enjoyed discovering all about the history and the customs, and although the Tour was bi-lingual so Emilia had to keep chopping between English & Spanish, you soon got used to that and we didn't have any problem with it at all. You could probably cram in the main Tourist sights on Rapa Nui in one day, but over the 2 Tours you get to see alot of more and you also get to see parts of the island you probably wouldn't if you rushed around. On Day 1 we did the Hotu Matua tour, and on Day 2 we did the Tangata Manu tour. I think it is just luck of the draw which order you will do it in, depending on when you visit. There were about 10 of us in the group, and the communication regarding the Hotel pickup etc. was excellent. The drivers were very good, and on the 2nd day we had a burst tyre on the Minibus and a replacement vehicle was sent very quickly. The whole thing was very professional, and we really enjoyed both days. A big thankyou to Emilia for being such an informative, helpful and friendly guide. Iorana
Two day tour is a great way to see the island. You go to all main sites Make sure you take lunch or snacks on second day as no lunch option. Restaurant on first day is basic but really good
Days before the Tour, we have a hard time contacting the tour Cabanas Maria. WE emailed and emailed we called 56-9-9889-77692 Apparently the phone is not operating. all we want is an email from these people. are the service really this bad that they can't be bother to return the email or have a phone where you can leave a messages?
I couldn't have asked for a better two days. Hit almost every one of the sights I was looking to see. And there was so much info to observe it was close to mind boggling.
First day excellent. Emelia was a great guide. Mostly English speakers so tour was all in English. 11-12 people in group size. 2nd day., only 4 English speakers. Group size was 12. Felt like 2 separate tours. Gave Spanish first and English 2nd.
Got to see a lot of the moai and hear about its history. beware there is a lot of walking and up hill and another part long walk down into a cave. The first part of the tour day one we got some bathroom breaks and time to get something to drink or eat plus lunch at our own expense. But the second day part 2 no bathroom breaks or something to drink or eat.
Great two days of touring, with the second days guide Esteban, being very engaging, full of energy, knowledge and enthusiasm. Definitely book
Absolutely amazing!! I was on the 2 days tour on 4th and 5th of March 2026 and it was excelent! Our guide was Jeremias, he is so frendly and cool, answered of all of my questions and gives lots of information! I definitely recccomend them!!
Our guide, Enzo was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Bus driver (name began with G) was GREAT -- helped my wife avoid a nasty sudden rainstorm. However, our group had English speakers and Spanish speakers, so we all had to sit through the others' narrations. Also, Enzo narrated the features of each stop while we were walking to and from the sights. If you weren't always at his side, you would miss some -- sometimes much -- of what was said. It would have been much better if the mini-bus had a speaker system and if Enzo provided us with information as we drove from one sight to another. As it was, he never spoke to the group while the bus was going from place to place.
The two day tour is the right one to see "everything", although this "everything" is not equally exciting. There are maybe 3 sites that are really good, the rest is... well, you need to see this in order to have a picture of the pre-western culture. This particular tour was a very good value for money. The guides were reasonable, although the south-island tour did not manage to cover all the program, the guide was in hurry to finish. The pick-up was 45 minutes late (the island time), and the pick-up times in the brochure do not seem right. In general, the company did not communicate to the customers particularly well. Before Rapa Nui I was in San Pedro de Atacama, and in San Pedro the organizational matters were managed very well. When I arrived at Tupa Hotel to pay for the tours, the saff-member was neither knowledgeable nor interested.
The tour was well organised and covered all of the main sites that you are likely to want to see while here. Our guide was informative and also answered our questions about life on the island today, so we felt we learnt a lot. It is worth being aware that there is no lunch stop on the second day (which finished around 3pm) and that you must buy your National Park ticket separately.
This is a 2 day tour with different guides on each day. The guide on the first day knows the history and culture of the island very well. However she did not gather everyone together before her narrative. So those who walked close to her would hear what she said while other slower passengers missed out. Many times she would began talking while others are way behind. This is not very professional. Also, the first day the pick up was delayed for an hour. Only explanation was from the tour operator that they had some minor issues. The tour guide never explain nor apologize for the delay. The guide on the 2nd day was much better. She waited for everyone before her narrative. At the end of the tour, she offered options to drop us off back to our hotel or near a restaurant. As well the driver on the 2nd day would help us get in and out of the van, the driver on the first day never did that. I would give a 3 star for the first day and 5 star for the 2nd day. I recommend this tour but you have a different experience based on who your guide is.
It’s hard to say it was exactly as expected, and as anticipated: wonderful. It essentially was; this is a recommendation to book, as well as to improve. Each day’s guide was brilliant, in their individual ways. Seriously. Both dealt with bi-lingual ‘guidance’ for clients on each day (English & Spanish). Not to be rude, though individual language guided tours feel more intimate, even in larger groups (5-12). Hello. Put 10-12 English speakers together; put 10-12 Spanish speakers together; instead of 5-10 of each/either mixed; a smaller homogenous language group will equate to better tips to guide for same package price. Same issue for having a driver. That’s exactly why you need a different individual as the driver. Let the guide: GUIDE; let the driver: drive, park, move & be prepared for your prepaid clients. There is plenty of local travel on island roads. It’s a journey: keep it intimate for teaching. Money will come. Drivers, remember whose team you are on. Enjoy!
As other reviewers noted, those are not two full days of excursions. The second day is only until lunch time. Also, what nobody tells you is that all the tours can be easily booked on the island. There are plenty of travel agencies, all offer the same 3-4 tours and they cost not more than $40, I regret paying $210 for this tour booked online. And as other people also noticed, the guide may provide unverifiable information. My guide claimed that the statues weight about 100 tons...
Good two days, was plenty, and second day picked up a few nice additions, especially the crater and Birdman areas. First day covers the most important areas. End of first day at the beach was not important to me. Second day at the Banana Cave was a long walk, hit, and walking through the cave in the dark was dangerous. They should provide torches.
The 2 days tour was fantastic. Very informative. The 2 tour guides were efficient and friendly. I recommend this tour
Day 1 was excellent. Very friendly, knowledgeable local guide Fernanda. He was keen to make sure everyone enjoyed the day and went away with some understanding of Rapa Nui culture and history. Pacing of Day 1 was perfect with well timed lunch break, toilet and drinks breaks. A great day and great guide. Day 2 was great in seeing further sites and some explanations of the history and culture with a different guide to Day 1. Timing could have been better managed- no lunch break between pick up and drop off at 3.00 pm. Over the two days we felt we learned a lot and saw a lot. It is great that the tours are delivered by local people. Rapa Nui is beautiful, and well worth visiting.
First day good. 2nd day Foggy and rainy and guidevreally doesn't know I w how to switch between languages well.
We booked the 2 full day tour around the island and we were very happy with the itinerary and the guides for both days (Hiva and Simon)! We not only went to all the important points around the island and see lots of moais but also got to learn about the history and the first hand view from the young generations of the rapanui’s these days. Some may say that two full days are not necessary but we enjoyed it all. Since we took all this time , effort and money to come all the way to Easter island, might as well see it all! I also enjoyed meeting two different guides for each day (two great storytellers with slightly different expertises ;)). They were both very passionate and knowledgeable about their own culture and history, especially Simon although you just had to ask him the right questions to get the wealth of knowledge out of him! ;) The tour was very well done and 100% recommended!
This tour was excellent as it took us all around the island and we visited the most important sites. Our guide Hiva was very young but so knowledgeable of the history and she was very personable. We absolutely loved her. We saw the impressive Moais and learned so much about the history of the people of Rapa Nui. We definitely recommend this tour.
We did 2 days of tours with this agency. The first day was good but the second day was distinctly average. The guide didn't give us any overall plan for either day, or introduce himself or the driver, and explanations were limited, especially on the second day when it was more about the islands natural beauty rather than the Moai. The second day we also didn't stop for lunch, despite being picked up at 9.30am and returning at 3.30pm. The guide was friendly and happy to answer questions, but if you don't know what you are looking at or why its hard to know what to ask! Overall was ok and we did see lots of the island and all the sites we wanted to see... it just could have been better.
My tour guide, Zoe, was absolutely incredible. Her passion for her culture and knowledge of the history of the island of Rapa Nui was truly amazing and eye opening. I can hands down say that my experience and impression of the island was almost entirely shaped by Zoe and her depth of knowledge! Thank you so much Zoe, I couldn’t recommend you enough.
Had an absolutely amazing experience in Rapa Nui with Zoe as my guide. Fantastic 2 day experience with plenty to see all over the island! Absolutely would book again.
This 2-day tour extensively covers most of the significant sites in the National Park on Rapa Nui. Our guides, were very knowledgeable about the history, culture and way of life of the inhabitants of this unique island as well as the geological events that shaped it.
5 star prices but 2 star service. We enjoyed the first day and the guide was very knowledgeable, but half of the island shut down the second day due to a reasonable emergency. Half of the second day and all that we were supposed to see was cancelled. I politely contacted the tour agency to see if they could fit us in on something the following days. I would’ve appreciated some suggestions or modifications but instead, I was ignored and blocked on WhatsApp. I found this extremely rude because they know they benefit from the law that all tourists must have a guide. They know that tourists spend thousands of dollars to go to such an isolated part of the world. Despite this, a simple request was totally ignored. This agency does not have its heart in tourism. It was a cash grab from naive tourists. The tours go really fast and the service is obviously lacking a personal touch. You can find this exact 2 day tour for half this price at the ticket office in Hanga Roa. 5 star prices, 2 star service. My once in a lifetime shot at seeing Rapa Nui and I missed several sites because this tour company chose to ignore me. It would've been such an easy and empathetic fix but instead I felt disrespected after paying such a high price. I wouldn't do this one again. 5 star prices - 2 star service.
I truly enjoyed doing this tour. I had Enerike as our guide for both days. He did a fantastic job of explaining the history and significance of each sites. He and the driver were on time to pick us up each day. He also did a fantastic job of going between English and Spanish for the guests. It was such an incredible experience learning about the island, its history and every other thing we learned from Enerike. I highly recommend this tour.
We booked 2 day tour via Viator - first day was phenomenal and our guide was very informative, spent time explaining and had deep knowledge about everything related to the archeological sites. On our second day, the tour guide was not informative, rushed through a whole day tour and finished in 1/2 day, left the tour at 2pm , started the tour late around 10:30am, had to be prompted to explain, explanations were all incorrect and did not care at all.
We saw many sights on the first day, which was well coordinated. The second day we were picked up an hour later as our tour guide’s wife had gone into labour. New tour guide did a good job. Lunch stop should have been included on the second day, it was good that we brought lots of snacks.
We had a great 2 day tour time...the first day was a chick, the second day a guy...both were very thorough and well versed on Easter Island places and people... we had a great time and recommend the 2 day tour for people because at $340 for 2 days that's $170 for one day and only $85 per person per day...the tour on each day lasts about 6 hours and you get to see everything their is to see that is not in Hanga Roa...which you can see when you are not on a tour....bring sunscreen, water just in case....this is a complete tour and you get to see the volcano, caves ( I went inside one) , stone Moai statues the whole shebang...everything good...they picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel Tauraa which I also recommend to everyone as it is perfect place to stay in Hanga Roa....
The tours were conducted by a bilingual guide and our guide spent 75% of his time talking to the Spanish speaking participants and 25% of his time addressing English speakers and this process significantly limited our time and access to view the different sites. Secondly, the tour operator failed to clean the interior of the van on a daily basis.
The information promised tours in English. On day 1 there was a translator, a very sweet young woman, whose English was about equal to my Spanish--very basic. She could tell me this was a house, that was a statue but only the barest minimum about the deeper meanings. Day 2 was a nightmare. A driver picked me up and we rode around two hours picking up other guests. This meant long waits in a very hot van sitting in the sun while the driver looked for people. Then via another guest who spoke some English I learned our guide had canceled. We waited for a new guide who came but she didn't speak English. I had no idea what we were doing. I was severely dehydrated by this time and getting dizzy. We were led to a dark cave and I couldn't get my phone flashlight to stay on so was in danger of falling. The guide did try to help. The only time I understood what was going on was when the exhibit had English captions. I was not able to ask questions and the guide ignored non Spanish speakers since there was no way to communicate with us. Very disappointing and a total waste of money.
Transportation was poor - 2 pickup trucks used to transport 8 of us - people crammed into the backseats. Trucks were dirty. Tour was late in starting by 90 minutes due to a confusion by the operator regarding a guest who was not scheduled to attend until the next day. Tour guide did not understand English - very difficult understanding him.
The tour was great, included everything I would like to see on the island. Frank was my tour guide. He’s very knowledgeable and down to earth. I enjoyed it very much!
The first day was fine. However our driver Simon on the second day had a terrible attitude. I asked to sit in the front of the van. He said no. I asked him why and he replied, because I said so. Not a way to start a tour or speak to a senior. That attitude stayed the whole day and the group were unhappy
Experience was amazing! Very experienced and friendly guides. David did the adventure packed day. He’s a little more active, and you’ll need to keep up. Franco did the second day, which includes more gentle walking and is fine for kids. (He was also very helpful when I needed to take an emergency call during a part of the tour in a remote place.) Good information and conversations both days, and we learned a lot and had a great time! A couple things to note: 1. Depending on the day, you may not take the tour in order. Because we started on a Tuesday, we did day 2 (a full day) first, and day 1 (a half day) second. 2. The tour says “moderate” physical fitness. While both my 60 year old dad and I were perfectly fine doing the tour, the second day involves going through a very dark cave, which requires ducking, bending, and in one spot, crawling off a normal path. I’d recommend shoes with good grip, and note that it is not going to be accessible for people with back or knee problems. There is also a good bit of uphill walking, so if these things pose a problem, it may not be the best. 3. There are not many bathrooms, and it is hot. Bring a decent amount of water, and use the bathrooms when they are offered. (Perks, they’re clean)!
Excellent two day tour around the must see sights of the island. Our guide Franco was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about sharing his culture with us.
In the two days I saw pretty much everything on the island and all of the things I wanted to see. Javiera was a terrific guide, friendly, knowledgeable and passionate and was able to answer any questions. Tours were conducted in both Spanish and English. It's an excellent tour.
Rapa Nui statues were incredible and so was the large crater. The tour guides were very knowledgeable, both of them have roots from the island so they knew it well, history and geography and all. I was able to inquire more about the history of the island. I truly recommend this tour.
We did the two-day tour. It was excellent! The guides were wonderful! Our first day (May 17) our woman guide (we do not recall her name) was so kind. She noticed right away I had an issue with my leg hurting and made sure I was comfortable (even referring a doctor!). But it was her expert knowledge of the island and its history that we were truly impressed by! One of our favorite parts was when she took us down by the water and fished sea urchins out of the sea, cracked them open and let us sample the meat! Our guide the second day on May 18 (we can’t remember his name either, unfortunately) was equally as amazing! He played the ukulele and sang beautifully, really adding to the experience! He soldiered on through the rain even leading us through caves! So cool! Both of these guides were a rich addition to our time on the island. Thank you both!
Good pace, enough time to walk around the sights, great knowledgable guide who expanded on topics if asked to. The combination of sights is almost perfect. And Easter Island is great! Just the communication up front could use a lot of improvement.
A very good experience, honestly; everything was very comfortable, accessible, and reliable. The guides are pleasant and very willing to answer all questions, 100% recommended.
Very good experience, good service and beautiful view, I would repeat it again.
If you ever think about visiting Easter Island without a guide, think twice. You won't be able to see everything on your own and, above all, you won't have the very interesting explanations that our 2 guides provided us. Furthermore, 2 days of visits are not superfluous
I left very happy from this incredible experience; without a doubt, I would always return.
Excellent reception, very good service, very personalized treatment, their service is recommended.
The guide explained everything super well, always attentive to the group and willing to answer questions. I definitely recommend it for Chilean and foreign tourists.
I had a great time. Very good support from the hosts.
Excellent, super complete tour; the guide explained everything super well! I was fascinated 😃
Incredible experience with Hotumatur. Javi and Fernando are incredible guides and representatives of their culture.
