IT WAS AMAZING! Yoyo the guide is the best! I learned a lot about the culture and the history of the island and the people, which was really important to me. The weather was bad, but still the landscapes and the stories were worth it. Most of my tours were private, and when I did join a group, it was small, and the people were really nice. I travelled for 6 days with the same company and guide. I wish to come back there- my experience there was perfect.

Itinerary
Day 1
1
The clear morning light is great in the morning for capturing images of the Beautiful Royal beach at Anakena
At ten metres tall, here lies one of the tallest moai ever to be erected, now but a vestige of its former glory. Nearby sits the famous magnetic circular stone which legend says came to Easter Island from the ancient homeland of Hiva with the first king, Hotu Matuʻa.
One Makihi is an unrestored conglomerate of ahu platforms sitting as they have been for over two hundred years since the islanders turned on the traditions of their ancestors and began toppling the hundreds of moai found throughout the island.
Restored between 1992 and 1996, this is the most awe inspiring of the various platforms. Here, fifteen of the largest moai set their stone faces like flint, looking eternally toward the setting of the sun, as well and the comparatively insignificant tourists who come to pay them homage.
This is the birthplace of the moai, a virtual quarry of statues. Here, hundreds of handsome heads and torsos sit in various stages of carving, still waiting to be transported to their various ahu located all over the island.
Day 2
2
As if it wasn’t enough to make huge monolithic statues, in the latter years, large scoria topknots were made and fitted on the heads of the moai. Puna Pau is the small crater where these adornments were made.
The site of some of the island's most beautiful stonework, reminiscent of the legendary masonary found in the great Inca civilization of South America.
A large volcanic crater which plunges 200 meters below to a beautiful lake. With a great panoramic view of the island, it is probably the Easter Island's most magnificent natural wonder.
The ceremonial village, where during the 18th and 19th centuries, one of the most interesting political ceremonies happened once a year as different tribes competed to become the leader of the island. In a breathtaking sports event that involved climbing down cliffs, swimming out to the islets off the coast, the islanders came to this beautiful part of the island to see who would be their next ruler.
A restored site of seven moai, Ahu Akivi is said to represent the first seven explorers who came to Easter Island. These moai are the only group of statues looking out to the sea.
Like many volcanic islands, Easter Island is riddled with lava tubes. Ana Te Pahu is one of the more extensive networks found on the island and shows how the ancient Rapanui people used these cave networks to live, collect water, plant vegetables and hide from aggressive visitors from outside in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Clear communication on tour schedule, prices... Everything was perfectly organized, pick up, itinerary and on site. The guides are local people and know perfectly their island. Thank you Green Island tourr
We had an exceptional tour and time with our guide, Yoyo. We are still in awe of the many beautiful impressions of this extraordinary island. Yoyo was an excellent guide who brought us closer to his culture and the history of his ancestors. We could not have asked for a better guide for these tours. I would also like to thank Paulina once again for organizing everything and providing us with regular updates and information about the upcoming tour. I highly recommend these tours!
Our guide was wonderful. Explained the history and significance of each site. He was interactive; fun; and a very accommodating tour guide
Yoyo was great and the tour was very interesting, but the first day was 4 hours excluding the hour and a half lunch break. Day 2 was longer though Ultimately I've removed 2 stars as I paid over £220 for this trip (just for myself, as I went solo) which is massively overpriced for what I got (had to pay for the park entry ticket myself) and I spoke to a few other people who booked their 2 day trip upon arrival in town and paid CLP 150,000 - £122. This is what I would have been comfortable paying TLDR: overpriced - book a tour when you get here, especially if coming in low season. Not worth £220
This 2 day tour was a great experience. Yoyo was our tour guide on both days and he made this tour incredibly fun. His knowledge and pride about the island and the Rapa Nui people was noteworthy and I highly recommend Yoyo and this tour. You will just need this one tour to cover all the sites while in Easter Island. The pick up and drop-off was smooth.
Yoyo was a great tour guide! Rapa Nui is a fascinating place and it was really helpful and interesting to get the island's history and insight from a local. The sites were absolutely beautiful.
We did 4 tours in total with Green island tours, Paulina is amazing, fast on whatsapp with responses and share details. We had really good guids for all our trips, Thank you Yoyo,Patricio,Bastian and Hekii for the amazing experience, the history you told us, your time and your company. We really liked Rapa Nui and hearing everything about the island. Martijn and Rianne
My wife and I did two private tours with Green Island. We did the Moai Monuments tour with a group of 7 as we toured with some friends whose visit to the island overlapped with ours. We then did the Historic Pathways Tour with just the two of us. The tour on our own was excellent. Our tour guide/driver did a great job and we learned a lot. The tour with our friends was pretty good but we didn’t learn as much. Unless you were standing next to the guide you couldn’t hear a lot of what he said. Also, my wife and I were in a 2nd vehicle which just had a driver. He was very friendly but we didn’t learn much. I think it would have been better if we had been in the tour guide’s vehicle. The two tours were a great use of time as they seemed to cover all of the significant spots on the island. Some of our friends went on the sunrise tour and spoke highly of it. Also, email correspondence and the payment process went extremely smoothly as Paulina is very responsive. Recommended.
This was a fantastic way to start our stay on Rapa Nui. It helped us familiarize ourselves with the island, learn about its rich history and culture, and meet some wonderful people. The two-day duration was perfect and it allowed us to explore without feeling rushed. Our guides, Yoyo and Hekii, were amazing; they made sure everyone had a great time and took the time to answer every single question we had.
Paulina put together a customised tour and it was amazing, I could not have asked for more. Our guide Hekii was exceptional, he was full of information, extremely patient, and nothing was a problem. I would have no problem recommending Green Island Tours to anyone who would like a great experience at Rapa Nui. Dave Thomsen.
We visited Rapa Nui for our honeymoon in July 2025 and chose the two full-day and two half-day tour option with Green Island Tours and honestly, we couldn’t have been happier with our experience. Our guide, Yoyo, was simply incredible. From the very beginning, he made us feel like we were exploring the island with an old friend rather than a traditional guide. His passion for Rapa Nui, along with his deep knowledge of its history and culture, brought every site and story to life in the most engaging way. Thank you Green Island tours for making our honeymoon was the adventure of a lifetime. Every day was so special and we genuinely loved every moment. We can’t recommend them highly enough. If you’re visiting Easter Island, don’t think twice. Book with Green Island Tours. You won’t regret it! (And ask for Yoyo as your tour guide)
Our time in Rapa Nui was incredible and so much of this was because of our experience with Yoyo and Green Island Tours. I honestly can’t say enough good things about them! * Communication before we arrived was excellent. And each night we received a message letting us know what and who to expect in the morning. They were also very quick to get back in touch if we had a question. * Our guide was Yoyo and he made us feel like family. He is so knowledgeable about the island (not just the Moai). We had our children with us (12 and 15) and he was great at adding little pieces of fun for them (where to take funny pictures for their ‘stories’, picking fruit from a tree for them to taste etc). Plus he knew everyone and everywhere we went people greeted us with huge smiles. * The private or small group is the best option and worth it! We saw much larger groups touring and overheard tri-lingual explanations from guides for everyone in their group. I can’t imagine these groups had the same rich experience that we did. The 1:1 time with our guide meant there was time to answer every question and we had the flexibility to make stops etc. * Yoyo was able to connect us and made excellent recommendations with other people for experiences (surf lessons for the kids, best restaurants for ceviche, how to get standby tickets for a cultural show etc). We are leaving the island today and filled with gratitude for our time here and that we made the choice to go with Green Island Tours. They are good people who are proud of the history and culture of the island - and while we were very much tourists while we were here - I do believe that we are leaving the island with knowledge for the history, appreciation for the culture and new some new friends to visit again one day.
A fabulous couple of days spent with Green Island Tours exploring the culture and landscape of Easter Island. The itinerary covered everything I wanted to see and the guide was very knowledgeable and was great fun to be with. I have no reservations in recommending Green Island Tours
In the shoulder season they typically do not do small group tours so we originally booked private tours directly from their website. Since we had asked about group tours they did contact us about adding people to our tours and giving us a refund for the difference. We accepted that offer. We did both tours with Heki’i. There were 7 of us on the Moai Monuments tour and 5 of us on the Historic Pathways tour. Heki’i was friendly, punctual, a safe driver, and spoke English very well. We enjoyed the tours with Green Island Tours. I am glad we were able to do these as small group tours to reduce the cost.
I booked the two full day tours, Moai Monuments and Historic Pathways along with Stargazing and Tongariki Sunrise. Got excellent communication from the office prior to booking, I was traveling by myself and wanted to make sure the tour had enough people prior to booking. Yoyo was our tour guide for both the Moai Monuments and Historic Pathways tours. Both were excellent and I learned a lot about the monuments and the history of the island. We were never rushed and had plenty of time to walk around the various sites. I am not an astronomy person but did enjoy the stargazing tour which was led by Mark. We had seats to sit while he showed us the various constellations with stories and then they had telescopes set up of various planets that we could investigate. We then went to Ahu Nau Nau where we had our photo taken with the Moai and the star sky behind us. The sunrise tour was beautiful and worked out well since on the Monuments tour it was raining when we were there. For the sunrise the weather was gorgeous.
The tour was amazing. Yoyo was our guide each day and he really was an awesome guide. We actually added on Stargazing and sunrise tours. I highly recommend the whole package. We got such good information about the history of the island and the Moai. Yoyo always made sure we had good opportunities for photos and always took time to answer our questions. Mark was the orator for the stargazing. He explained to us how they use to use the stars to navigate. He provided chairs and gave us such a good explanation without being too much. He pointed out many constellations as well as he had two telescopes for us. One to view the moon and the other to view Jupiter and 4 of its moons (visible that day). It does have to be a mostly clear night to experince this adventure. He also took photos of us with midnight sky. Yoyo was also our guide for the sunrise tour on the last morning. He knew the perfect spot for us to sit and watch so that we would not only be away from the other tour groups, but have amazing photo opportunities. I highly recommend booking with Green Island Tours. The small group tour of only 8 people was perfect. Without a doubt I would book with them again. And their communication from inquiry and through our departure from the island was excellent.
The Cruise Shore Excursion "2 day small group tour of Moai Monuments and historic pathways" was excellent. Over the course of the 2 days we saw statues located throughout the island plus the volcano plus other historic sites and we learned so much! The tour company was well orgnized and our guide was amazing, being a native to Easter Island with many local stories. We walked a lot and saw much! We highly recommend this tour . (note: only partial refunds if ship doesn't make port;)
I did the two day tour with Green Island Tours. It was the perfect tour to get the overview of the Moai history and see the major sites of Easter Island. I had Yoyo as the tour guide and he has a lot of knowledge about the Moai history and is very effective in sharing his knowledge. I really appreciate this given that you need a tour guide to see the sites in the Rapa Nui park. This is definitely one of the best tours.
We had a great day with yo-yo on outmr private day adventure. We hiked the coastline, swam in tide pools, walked pastures with wild horses and enjoyed many hidden parts of the island. A truly great day.
Fantastic guides and an i credible company overall. Extremely responsive over WhatsApp and e-mail, and very helpful figuring out how to fit in everything I wanted to see while on Rapa Nui!
We spent 2 full and 2 half days with Yoyo and he was beyond spectacular. He exceeded our expectations in every way, from his knowledge of the island, his patience with our family (which included two teenagers and two seniors), to even the food recommendations. Your company was top notch and everything about the experience was first class.
We spent the most amazing two full days with Tokerau on the Moai Monuments and Historic Pathways Tours. Tokerau is a local Rapa Nui, born and raised, with education in tourism. He was effervescent and passionate about his heritage, and eager to share his knowledge and experiences of his homeland. He carefully planned out our itinerary each day, from timing the site visits to avoid crowds and recognized weather patterns so we could see the best parts before the rain approached. He also arranged the tour in a chronological order so it would be easier for us to follow and digest the island’s rich history. Tokerau encouraged questions and explained everything in such detail, not only the history, but the significance of each maoi period, to various types of volcanic stones, to the restoration process. We were thoroughly impressed with the breadth & depth of his knowledge. At the end of the two days, we felt we were in the company of a friend, and not just on a typical tour. Also a shoutout to Paulina and YoYo. Paulina organized the tours for us, with immediate responses to all questions asked. Excellent communication - kept us informed with the schedule to Stargazing and Sunrise tours as the island weather is unpredictable in winter. Paulina also proactively emailed me the required forms to enter the island ahead of time so we need not have to scramble at the airport. YoYo - our excellent guide to the Sunrise Tour. He made an extra stop for us to see the stars and constellations ahead of the sunrise, because he knew we had missed the Stargazing tour for 2 consecutive nights due to the rain. YoYo not only showed us the best vantage point to capture the Tongariki sunrise and away from the crowd, he also knew the exact timing and the angle in which the sun rose! Rapa Nui is magical. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the island, I highly recommend the professional and knowledgeable team of Tokerau, YoYo and Paulina! They are simply the best on the island.
Booked the ‘Moai Monuments’ and ‘Historic Pathways’ to see the main sights. The tour guides (Heki and Patrice respectively) were very friendly and knowledgeable about the subject matter, making the whole experience a delight. I also booked the ‘Tongariki Sunrise’ tour which was fantastic, despite the cloudy weather. The same weather conditions unfortunately killed my chances of going on a stargazing tour! However, this was refunded very quickly so cannot fault the company there. I would like to also give a shoutout to Paulina, who always responded in an instant to help book my tours, keep me informed and make sure any issues were ironed out quickly, such as the refund for the cancelled stargazing tour. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Green Island Tours - Mauruuru and iorana! P.S. To anyone who leaves things ridiculously last minute like me, I advise you not to take that approach if considering any of the day trek options, as although GI Tours saved my bacon with the main sights, there was no availability for the Poike and North Coast treks, which I regret missing out on.
Look no further than Green Island Tours to help you explore this magical island. I had a wonderful experience over two days and really got the most out of my visit. My guide Yoyo was exceptionally knowledgeable and professional, and really made my trip so memorable. A huge thank you to all of the team. Strongly recommended!
The tour covered all the highlights of the island. We were given ample time at each location to view the monuments. Our guide, Yoyo, was extremely knowledgeable and always happy to assist us with all aspects of the tour.
We had a wonderful time on the Moai Monuments and Historic Pathways tours. The tours were both small--just my husband and I and one other traveler. Our guide Yoyo was fantastic! He provided insightful commentary on the numerous sites we visited and arranged the tour so we got to the sites with great lighting for pictures, but somehow without too many crowds! He also took a ton of pictures for us. Yoyo was a true ambassador for the island. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Green Island Tours. Iorana!
Our itinerary with Green Island tours was: Dec 16: Arrival / 3pm Rano Kau crater walk short version followed by Orongo & Ahu Akivi Dec 17th: Full day moai monuments tour 9am / Stargazing tour 20:00 Dec 18th: North Coast Hike 7am Dec 19th: Sunrise at Tongariki 6am, drop off at hotel/town centre for breakfast. I cannot rate the company highly enough. Punctual, professional, great communication. Sadly the skies were a bit cloudy for stargazing but they offered us a prompt refund. Absolutely recommended for a great experience of Rapa Nui.
