I went there on the 30th of August without prior booking and made personal booking for one night with my daughter for two people the receptionist on duty assisted us and told us to come back after 2 pm and we left after paying for our room and leaving our luggage there on our return instead of engaging me the receptionist decided to engage my daughter daughter I’m not sure whether is it because I am partially blind and she doesn’t feel comfortable talking to people with disabilities or maybe it might be because she changed our rooms she had initially promised us the seventh floor room and when we came back she gave us the fourth floor room said part is that we paid for two people accommodation for one night but upon checkout my was that I was told that it was only a single person booking and my daughter can’t have breakfast that was very disappointing for me and it nearly messed up my Durban experience to date my sons are not updated even though I paid my room cash everything is just quiet I’m not even sure if I still even have earned sun runs from this experience the Edwards hotel experience for me was a nightmare that I woke up in the morning and experienced after my sleeping there

A hotel with a lot of potential that just fails. First of all, the photos here are misleading. The hotel is old and tired. The larger pool in the photos is actually run down and does not belong to the hotel. The hotel’s pool is less than 10m and surrounded by fake plastic grass. The first room they gave me was a nightmare. Mould on the windows and humid. Stains on the carpet. As well as a wedding on the same floor… I paid for an upgrade that was larger with sea view, but the advertised balcony was missing. I couldn’t be bothered to go and complain again. The hotel was very loud. Wedding party, but also drunk guests with doors open drinking and making noise in the corridor. The walls are very thin. The restaurant is decent. The servers are friendly. The breakfast selection could be better with more fruit selection.
We stayed here just two weeks ago. Their amazing CHEF made us a very delicious vegan dinner! The vegan breakfast was also delightful. We were treated like royalty by staff members and highly recommend this hotel to anyone desiring some delicious plant based food. Its more environmentally friendly, inclusive for those with allergies and better for health. I hope others request and enjoy their plant-based meals!
Did the Ironman 70.3 the past weekend and I was really impressed with the EVERYTHING. Really enjiyed our stay. Staff is super friendly and helpfull. Ditched a restuarant at casino to rather eat at Hotel because their food is soooo good and tastefull. Athletes were able to eat from 4am the morning of race day!! Would with out a doubt stay here again! Really enjoyed it!
We booked into the Edward Hotel on the 16 May 2026. The welcome and the registration process went smoothly. The room was neat. The view from the room was spectacular. A request to reception for a blanket was attended to promptly. However, the disappointment is the Brasserie Resturant. Our meal there was a major let down. We ordered the salmon and the yellowtail. The resturant was very, very quiet. The meal took over an hour to come to the table. The vegetables were underdone. When the Sous Chef came to the table I asked him to press the carrots. He acknowledged that the veggies were undercooked. That was not the main problem. The fish was overcooked and had absolutely no flavor. It was obvious, based on the delay of the meal coming to the table, that the fish was frozen. There is no quality control before the meals leave the kitchen. That is mainly due to no Chef being on duty. No Chef being on duty was confirmed by the Sous Chef. Meals at the Edward are not cheap and this shows total disrespect for the guest.
