Montenegro Private Tour From Dubrovnik

My wife and I went on this tour to Montenegro from Dubrovnik with Marijan as our driver and “tour guide” - Marijan could not have been a more insightful, knowledgeable, and genuine person! The sights were incredible and it is clear that the company knows what they are doing in order to get you to the beautiful towns, all while pausing at breathtaking scenic overlooks to take in the views. Marijan’s commentary was the cherry on top of the whole experience. Not only did we learn about the history of Montenegro, but Marijan is deeply versed in the geopolitical landscape of the surrounding areas and provided insightful context. He is someone who cares about & takes pride in his country! Initially, were unsure how we could experience Montenegro when we were staying in Dubrovnik until we saw this experience on Trip Advisor, and we were glad we stumbled upon it because we were not disappointed. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants to see beautiful Montenegro with a very experienced company, and also learn more about the history and politics of the surrounding region.

Our driver, Boris, was absolutely fantastic. He wasn't just a driver. He was a history teacher. He kept us completely interested the whole trip. He went out of his way to make the trip memorable and he felt like family by the end of the trip. We needed a ride to the airport the next day and he jumped at the chance to drive us without asking for anything. We could not recommend this company enough. Apparently this company does many different types of tours and if we ever come back we are going to hire Boris and this company for the whole trip. Thank you, Boris!! ❤️

This travel company is excellent. Montenegro still has corruption problems and I wouldn’t recommend traveling there. We were confronted by police who charged our driver 332 E because we parked in a lot that was posted P for parking. They gave him the option of 332 E cash or 500 charged. I’m sure the 332 E never saw the city reserves. To drive 2 hours just to see Kotor wasn’t worth it. Stone Croatia had a beautiful wall also and Croatia is much more friendly.

This tour was amazing. We loved our guide, Marjan, and instantly felt safe and comfortable with him. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of Montenegro and the Bay of Kotor, and we learned a great deal from him which really enhanced the entire trip. The van was very nice, clean, and comfortable. Each of our stops was unique and added to the fascinating experience. I cannot recommend this tour enough if you want to see and learn about this unique part of the world from an expert guide.

We are staying outside of Dubrovnik and did a day trip to Montenegro. Amazing day with an amazing guide Marijan. Took a bit longer with traffic but nothing you can do about that. Had a few stops on the way and the best lunch ever !

We just spent an amazing day in Montenegro with our sensational guide Igor. My family and I couldn’t have been looked after better. First stop was to have a lovely breakfast overlooking Kotor Bay. Next the delightful Perast and a boat ride across to the Lady of the Rocks. Then the walled city full of cats, Kotor. Finally we had an unexpected stop on our way back to Dubrovnik which we all loved. Igor was a knowledgeable and thoughtful guide who took such great care of us. He went above and beyond even suggesting great angles for photos and travel tips. Thank you for a memorable day!

Could not recommend this tour enough! Totally worth the trip from Croatia! Montenegro was AMAZING and would have not have been the same if we did not have our guide Igor. He knew the best places to go to avoid crowds and get amazing photos! He was very accommodating to all the needs within our group and allowed us to see much more than we would have ever been able to see ourselves! We got the best food recommendations and overall had the best time!

Marjan was a superb guide and was happy to customise for us, including a side visit to Bosnia. Note that there are extensive major road works between Kotor and Budva, resulting in wasted time plus Budva was only ok at best. Therefore we recommend skipping Budva altogether

Montenegro is a wonderful country, and this tour with Marijan surpassed expectation. Marijan has a great knowledge of the historical experiences of both Croatia and Montenegro. On my request Marijan took me to Sveti Stefan and St Sava Church! The views were otherworldly. Marijan is fantastic company, and made sure that the tour went smoothly. I got to enjoy so much including Perast and Kotor! Brilliant tour, recommend it 100%!!

First off Montenegro is simply enchanting- you have to go, but Marijan takes the enter trip to another level. This man is SO knowledgeable and has this very relaxing demeanor that you never feel rushed or stressed. He accommodates whatever you need. He was very helpful with my older mom. He was professional, a great driver, considerate and answered all our questions. This trip is an absolute yes - go and be blown away by the beauty and Marijan!

Family of four, two kids aged 8 and 11, we did a full day trip from our hotel in Dubrovnik to Montenegro. Boris picked us up in a nice van with waters and was waiting for us as the designated time. Right off the bat he set a great tone for the day laying out some of our options and giving an idea how long it takes to get to different places. As we were driving he gave a lot of history about the areas we were in and it was clear his passion for helping people explore and understand the area. He also did a good job keeping the kids involved throughout the day. We made several stops around Bay of Kotor and took the boat out to the tiny Lady of the Rock island. We then got lunch in Kotor, was a good seafood restaurant right on the water and then explored the city and make a walk up the old castle walls, for a great view down to the city and the bay. We were there at end of March, so it was still cool out and was not crowded, but he recommended starting very early during the summer seasons because of the crowds and heat. We then started back towards Dubrovnik, Boris offered to bring us several other places on the way back but we and the kids were pretty tired (day 10 of our trip) and we were perfectly happy to head back to the hotel. Boris did an excellent job, was a safe driver and genuinely excited to share his knowledge of the area- what a rare gem! He also did something very thoughtful for our kids which we were very appreciative for. If you're looking for a great guide for the area and a way to customize the trip for whatever you'd like to do- book this now!

We are on a 6wk trip around the world with two kids 9 and 10 and I can hand on heart say this was my favourite day of our trip. Marijan was possibly the best and most perfectly suited travel guide to any experience we have ever had. A veteran of the Croatian war of independence Marijan took us on a magical ride through the history of the former states of Yugoslavia and how each country arrived to where they are today. Our daughters were equally fascinated by his stories and descriptions and honestly Montenegro may be one of the greatest hidden gems for travellers in the world. Breath taking scenery like driving the Amalfi Coast, the walled cities of Kotor and Budva just take you to a different time and place. Marijan walked us into each of the walled cities and carefully walked us through the history. His patience and willingness to suggest things suitable for us was great. Convincing our girls to walk the halfway point to the church of the high walls of Kotor was a total highlight and Marijan reserving time so we could have a dip in Budva was incredible. I will never forget the day we spent together and going to the War Museum at Mt Srd the next day was so meaningful after his stories. Simply thank you

We had a fantastic time touring with Marijan. He checked all the boxes - great driver, great tour guide who knew the history of the sites we visited and stopped for opportunities to soak in the breathtaking views. We also very much appreciated his special touches, from making sure our lunch locale and table seating was perfect, to pointing out shops for those special gifts, to offering us options for hiking, walking, history, boat / island experiences to strolling on the waterfront and enjoying a glass of wine. Never a moment feeling rushed or bored! We felt like we made a new friend in Marijan. Definitely 5 stars.

I would likely recommend this trip at a different time of the year. We were warned by our airport driver that it was not a great time for such a trip due to crowds and long wait times at the border crossing. As we crossed the border out of Croatia the wait was minimal but the line returning to Croatia was miles long. This required us to detour on our way back to Croatia requiring a longer return trip. We made essentially two stops in Montenegro. One was a simple walk through a town the other - so crowded it was difficult to get around or see things. When warned by our airport driver about the conditions I did contact the tour company and asked it was a trip worth taking and they assured me there should be no problems. We weee supposed to make one more stop and due to the crowds our guide essentially said it would not be worth it. The cost of the tour was very expensive because it was just my daughter and I and the experience did not even come close meeting my expectations. My guess is that another time of year could result in a lovely trip but don’t go in August.

We spent a wonderful day discovering the Montenegrin coast with Marijan who is a knowledgeable and friendly guide. He gave us time to stroll through Perast, walked us around the magical walled-city of Kotor and gave our kids some extra time to eat and swim in Budva (the temperature that day was scorching!). We learned so much about Montenegro and the region as a whole and highly recommend this tour!

Montenegro is a country one must visit. The topography is different than Croatia and equally as magical. Out tour guide, Boris, was informative, on time, a/c in the comfortable van. We took a private tour so we could tailor it to our needs.

My husband and I had a wonderful time with our guide Marijan exploring the Montenegro coast (Perast was our favorite). Marijan has a wealth of knowledge about the Croatian/Montenegrin/Bosnian regions. You will learn a lot about the culture and history of the area, and see some beautiful cities set against breathtaking landscapes. We appreciated the flexibility of a private tour because we could customize it to our needs. Also, the ride was very comfortable - spacious and air conditioned. Communication from the tour company was easy from start to finish.

8 of us had a free day in Dubrovnik and decided to take a day trip to Montenegro. After a lot of research we decided to go with Dubrovnik Top Tours because of the price, ease of communicating with them to set up the tour and where their driver/tour guide would take us. We were so glad we went with them. First off, the driver, Boris Topalovic, was right on time to pick us up at our hotel. The van was very clean. Boris introduced himself and we immediately knew we were in for a very fun day with him. He is a character and had us laughing throughout the day. He was very knowledgeable about the entire Balkan region and really gave us a lot of history and culture of the differing countries in the region. He took us to all the gorgeous sites in Montenegro and recommended a great restaurant for lunch. He made sure we were comfortable in the van and at one stop, he dropped us off and then went looking for a place to park. When we were done, he ran to get the van so that we didn't have to walk a long distance to where he had to park. At the end of the day, we were running late and had dinner reservations at a restaurant so he called the restaurant for us and told them we were running late and he dropped us off at the restaurant. I would highly recommend Dubrovnik Top Tours if you are planning a day trip. Hopefully Boris will be your driver/guide because of his knowledge of the region and his crazy sense of humor. He literally had all 8 of us in hysterics throughout the day. BTW, his English is excellent so no issue in understanding him and he is a very safe driver.

we went on a day trip to montenegro with Daf, it was an amazing experience. The drive there, the sight seeing, and the trip as a whole was unforgettable. He made sure we were able to see as much of the country as possible without rushing any of us along. He was pleasant, enjoyable and the best driver we could ask for! Not to mention takes great photos.

We visited Perast, The Lady of the Rocks, Kotor and Budva. Our guide Marion was very knowledgeable of the area, history and gave us lots of information. We really enjoyed every stop . The road scenery is spectacular and my favorite place was up the mountains in Kotor with an impressive view of Kotor Bay

Our driver, Boris, was excellent, tailoring the day’s tour to our interests and needs. We enjoyed the beauty of Kotor Bay and the lovely countryside outside Dubrovnik on our return. We particularly appreciated his driving us through some of the villages damaged by the war and his description of people involved in the fighting. It was a delightful way to sample Montenegro.

We had a great day traveling from Dubrovnik to Montenegro with Boris. It's a full day but his energy and enthusiasm throughout made it incredibly enjoyable. He provided so much good background, gave terrific guidance on what to see and where to go, and yet was flexible throughout the day adjusting to what we wanted to see and do. His love of all things Croatia (especially Croatia football!) was contagious. Boris seemed to know everyone we met whether it was at the border crossing, the parking at Perast, the shops in Kotor, or navigating with the restaurant for the perfect lunch table overlooking the Bay. We felt in great hands as he was so knowledgeable and gave insight into what to expect and perfect ideas for a wonderful day. He was on time and waiting for us with water and a friendly smile first thing in the morning, so we knew we were in for a good day. Our first stop was Verige for photos and then on Perast for some exploring and a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks. Then on to the city of Kotor for a terrific lunch and afternoon of sightseeing. Lots of details taken care of in advance so the day was smoooth and hassle-free. The communication with Dubrovnik Top Tours, and Ivana in particular, was excellent. She was so detailed and quick & timely with her responses, and accomadating - incredibly appreciative. Great day!

This was a wonderful experience! We were picked up at our hotel in Dubrovnik and spent the entire day visiting coastal Montenegro, including Perast, Kotor and Budva. Our driver, MARIJAN SCAPEC, was amazing! He shared with us a great deal of history of both Croatia and Montenegro and skillfully and unhurriedly maximized our experience of seeing the most of costal Montenegro. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour and MARIJAN.

This was the best tour we did while in Croatia for 10 days. I didn’t know what to expect when visiting Montenegro but from pickup in Old Town, to our drive through customs to an absolutely unreal lunch on the water and tour of Kotor, I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Boris is a rockstar. He is a hysterical and knowledgeable, great person. He suggested spots for us to stop, a great restaurant to eat at, and provided so much history about not only Montenegro but Croatia and the surrounding areas. I was truly sad to leave at the end of the day. I highly recommend this tour and spending your day touring Montenegro with Boris. When we come back to Croatia we will definitely be contacting Dubrovnik Top Tours!!
