I was surprised this excursion went ahead when it was pouring down with rain. 1st time didn’t enjoy the day trip and when dropped off in the pouring down rain I was min 25 mins away from where I had been picked up. Due to the heavy downpour the whole day was a blur which I was gutted as I was really looking forward to this trip.

Itinerary
After we have picked up all the guests, our journey begins through the southernmost part of the Croatian Konavle Valley. At this southernmost point we cross the border and arrive in Montenegro. After crossing the border we stop briefly for a coffee or toilet break. After that the bus ride continues all the way to the small Montenegrin fishing town of Perast.
Upon arrival in Perast we had 50 minutes of free time to explore the cultural and historical sights of Perast
After free time in Perast we have two boat options: 1. Short boat ride (30 minutes) to the islet of Our Lady of the Rocks 2. Longer boat ride (30 minutes) to the islet of Our Lady of the Rocks and after visiting Our Lady of the Rocks we continue another (1 hour)boat ride through Kotor
Profesional guided walking tour in Kotor for 30 minutes
After a walking tour we have time of 2.5 hours to explore Kotor, or to choose one of the beautiful restaurants for lunch
After free time in Kotor our journey starts in the opposite direction back to Dubrovnik The bus ride and the panoramic view of the Montenegrin coast do not leave us indifferent. Crossing the border again is unfortunately inevitable because Montenegro does not belong to the European Union This can sometimes take a little more time than expected in the middle of the season

Reviews
I had a wonderful experience on the Montenegro & Bay of Kotor tour, and a big part of that was thanks to our excellent driver, Bojan, and tour guide, Andrea. Bojan was a fantastic driver—safe, calm, and professional. I especially appreciated his advice to sit on the right side of the bus for the best views. He was absolutely right! I also enjoyed his funny commentary while driving, which added a lot of fun to the journey. Andrea was an exceptional tour guide. She handled the four border crossings with aplomb, demonstrating impressive efficiency, professionalism, and patience. Her positive outlook throughout each crossing was reassuring, and she always gave us confidence that everything would work out. She was also very attentive to me personally, as I was wearing a knee brace. She regularly checked to make sure I was okay and encouraged me to let her know if there was anything she could do to make the experience easier for me. That kindness meant a lot. Andrea was extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of the areas we visited. One of my favorite stories was about the “Laziest Citizen” contest in Brezna, Montenegro, a satirical competition created to poke fun at the popular stereotype that Montenegrins are lazy. She explained how the first winner managed to stay in bed for only three days, while a later winner lasted an incredible 100 days, getting up only for 10–15 minutes every eight hours to use the bathroom and stretch! It was such a funny and memorable story, and exactly the kind of local insight that makes a tour special. Overall, this was a fantastic experience. Bojan and Andrea made the journey safe, enjoyable, informative, and memorable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Montenegro and the Bay of Kotor.
We saw everything we wanted to see and experience in Montenegro. We enjoyed Kotor, the boat ride to the Lady of the Rocks island and Perast. The driver and guide took care of our border crossings. I highly recommend.
This trip was booked at out hotel the Komodor in Lapad. It was advertised as "Montenegro by boat" but it should be advertised as by coach with a boat trip as 8 hours are spent on the coach. We were told the coach had a toilet that did not work. In fact the toilet was working but was not in use as they could not or would not empty the chemical toilet and did not have the facilities to!! Unbelievable when a man first walked on the moon in 1969 and this is 2026. 32 people had been on the coach before the first toilet stop which was a shambolic mess at a shop after the border following four hours on the coach. Everyone dashed to the toilet, all wanting to use it at the same time. On the way back the border toilets were absolutely disgusting and all because we could not use the coach toilet! How does this company operate yours with coaches with no toilet facilities? Surely it is not that difficult to arrange for a service to empty the toilet? So unless you can control your bladder for a minimum of four hours I would not recommend this company as Hannah the tour guide said this was this company's common practice. As most of the time is spent on the coach you do not get enough time at two of the three stops. And they have the cheek to leave a tip box out for tips when you eventually leave the coach. We paid 160 euros for two people, there were 30 people on the tour equals a total of 4800 euros and all that for a coach without a working toilet!!!!!
This is a nice trip to Montenegro. The tour guide was sweet & helpful. And the towns we saw were so picturesque. I only have 2 complaints. 20 minutes on the island of the rock isn’t enough time. It’s hard to use the bathroom & see inside the church, especially if there are crowds, in only 20 minutes. It really needs at least 30. The final suggestion is for the tour guide in Kotor to have a microphone. She was great & full of info but with all the people & the other tour guides talking I was unable to hear anything she said. That was frustrating because I’d love to have heard the history of the buildings. Other that those things I enjoyed the tour very much.
Trip was well organised and informative, border crossings with smaller group were good.
Booked this day trip the night before at 9pm, great communication from the company was able to confirm and answered my question about pickup time and location still that late when pick up was 6am the next day. Was a comfy minibus, took us to Perast for a 45minute stop and then boat to the island for another 20mins before getting a 45min tour guide at Kotor with another 2-2.5 hours free time there which was enough to explore the old town and also hike up to the fortress overlooking the city. Would recommend for anyone wanting to do a day trip into Montenegro from Dubrovnik.
Excellent trip. Thanks to Obrad our driver and Rosa our guide. Rosa was very knowledgeable explaining the history of Croatia, Montenegro and the former Yugoslav countries. She organised us all very well. Kotor, Our Lady of the Rocks and Perast are very beautiful places to visit.
What a gorgeous place! A lot of time alloted in Kotor, a bit more than 3 hours, this gave us enough time for a 45 min walking tour provided by this tour, sit down breakfast, the hike up to the church for the view, and some souvenir shopping. Gorgeous boat ride to the Lady of the Rocks and some more time alloted for a snack and walking down the one main street in Perast. 5/5 stars for this tour, our guide Sandra was also lovely!
The guide was very knowledgeable and the sights were amazing. Enjoyed the transport, description and sight-seeing.
We had heard so much about Kotor and were looking forward to this tour. However, we wished that we had just taken a bus on our own for the following reasons: - The guide was very nice, but didn’t do a lot except take us to where others would do the tour. Getting to the old town to meet the local guide was very stressful as we couldn’t see where the original guide was going among all the people from cruises. The actual tour wasn’t very long so we were on our own for most of the time we were there. - Once on the bus I was told that I hadn’t paid for part of the trip and owed 10 euros or we would have to take a cab to meet the bus. I still can’t figure out why. - The operator of the boat which took us to the island looked no older than 18 and seemed more interested in chatting up our guide than watching where he was going. There was also no step to help get up on the boat, so we had to haul ourselves up. - The tour was a full 12 hours, partly because of the border crossings which were out of the company’s control, but we couldn’t help but think that we could have done what we wanted to do in a shorter time had we gone on our own. All in all a disappointment - we could also have saved some money if we had gone on our own.
We did the day trip from Dubrovnik to Kotor, Lady of the Rocks and Perast. The guide was very nice. We weren't advised that cash was required to pay a tax in Kotor or that cash was required on the island, they charge there to use a toilet, no cards accepted. Seems some people that didn't have cash didn't have to pay the Kotor tax.
I enjoyed Montenegro. However a 2.5 hour trip back to Dubrovnik took 5.5 hours. There is no mention of the possible delay anywhere in the tour information. Despite seeing the traffic on the way to Montenegro, the guide seemed confident it wouldn't be as bad on the way back. Had we been informed of the possible delay, we could have been prepared with extra water and snacks. Perhaps the company could have an emergence water stash on board. I got severely dehydrated sitting on the bus for that long. If you're deciding between Bosnia and Montenegro I would highly recommend Bosnia.
Our guide and driver were awesome. I would have done 5 stars, f the pickup time was what I requested. Do not book through Viator. The ad is wrong about when and where. To their credit, the tour guide confirmed the actual pickup time, which was 30 minutes earlier than what we ordered.
By far one of the best tours I have been on. Great communication, small group, good historical narration, seamless border crossing. These guys are good. Best use of my time on this vacation. Book them. 10/10 recommend.
As a solo traveler I really enjoy these kinds of trips. Everything ran smoothly. Our guide was phenomenal! A simple easy day trip.
This was absolutely amazing. My group made some mistakes and the tour group totally stepped up and fixed the problem for us even though it was our fault. The guide was amazing, as was the boat and Kotor guide, bus driver and boat captain! All went out of their way to provide a wonderful experience!!
I enjoyed the food, the sights of Kotor Bay and surrounding areas. The trip was marred by having to ride in a large motor coach with 49 other people, difficulty hearing a ground tour guide without "whispers", not enough time to explore the museum of Our Lady of the Rocks, and long border passport processing wait (3 hours) on our return home. I appreciated the pick up and drop off at hotels.
The starting time was a bit early for me, but it was nice to get a convenient pick-up from the hotel. The organizing tour operator replied swiftly to some questions I had in advance. Interesting tour to a beautiful country.
We had a truly amazing time on this tour. Our guide was Patricia and our driver Ivan who both did their absolute best to make the journey to and from Montenegro as comfortable as possible.
DANGER!!!! Beware of this agency, they are spreading very big nationalist propaganda against Montenegro. The tourist guide(Andrija) is a mentally unstable and sick person. I was very afraid of him. I reported it to the agency, they did the same as their guide. Very unpleasant and aggressive owner!!!
We went with select Dubrovnik to Perast, Lady of the Rocks and Kotor. We got a boat from perast to lady of the rocks and then onto Kotor which broke up the bus journey with incredible views along the way. I couldn’t recommend it more and value for money. Our tour guide Patricia was a gem. She was so enthusiastic all the way through. We were stopped at border control for 2 hours on the way home due to an IT issue but with Patricia and Ivan the bus driver, they kept our spirits high so we’d never forget a memorable day.
I was sceptical about this trip given the neutral reviews other people had said about the trip, and the mention of long wait at the borders. I’m glad I took the risk. I booked the trip on Sunday afternoon, the trip was for the next day - Monday. The pickup was for 7.00am near the accommodation. I was there at 6.50am They arrived at 6.57am. Other people were picked up en route to Montenegro. Air conditioned coach, about 30 people on board - last seats unoccupied. Both driver and the female guide were professional. A very nice and kind guide with a big smile on the face - sorry for forgetting her name. Crossing at the border was smooth- under 40mins in, and under 30mins out. I enjoyed the boat ride from Perast to Kotor - about 40mins taking in the beautiful scenery. Everyone on the coach comported themselves. We got back to lapad, last drop off, at 6pm, an hour earlier than expected. Their price is competitive. Do not hesitate if you have the chance to go on this trip with Select Team via Tripadvisor. Thank you to the team.
A fabulous trip to explore somewhere new! Your guide was excellent and full of knowledge! Spoke clear as well so could hear! Tour guide in Kotor was always informative! Border crossings weren’t too bad either!
We had Luka (spelling may be wrong) as our tour guide and driver. My boyfriend said his favorite part of the trip wasn't the stops we made but rather the stories from Luka along the way. We had a tumultuous day in a 'everything that can go wrong will go wrong' type of way, but his honesty and humor with the bumps in the road made it enjoyable. I don't think the tour would have been worth it with almost any other guide, but we got very lucky!
A bit of a game of two halves really. The places we visited were absolutely stunning but the transport was pretty chaotic. Our tour guide seemed to be dictated to by an extremely inflexible driver who made it very clear he wouldn't stand for any lateness. He left two of the group behind at the first refreshment stop (which the guide only realised after carrying out a headcount after we'd set off) and we wasted 25 minutes of an already tight itinerary going back for them. We set off for a second time and whizzed past various places of interest that the guide gave us a LOT of information about as we passed. The boat trip to Kotor was fabulous - the guide (not our tour guide) was very engaging and we learned a lot of interesting things about Montenegro. Kotor Old Town was beautiful - very picturesque and full of charm. There was an optional 30 minute walking tour but we decided to get food and explore ourselves. On the return we got held up at the border for over an hour and a half. Our guide advised that we could be there for anything up to four hours, maybe longer. It would have been useful to have known this prior to departing as we could have bought extra refreshments (there's obviously nothing at border control apart from a Trainspotting-esque portaloo). Our guide then proceeded to tell us about all the other nice trips we could have gone on where there wouldn't be delays, and the best days for taking the trip we were on (not a Wednesday which is the day we'd chosen). Two of the group (the same two who'd got left behind earlier) decided they'd had enough and left the bus and walked through border control to make their own way home. When we finally made it through border control, the bus driver took great delight in papping his horn at them as we passed them walking on the road. The trip ended with five of us being called to exit the bus and having to get in a taxi to take us the last five minutes of our journey. Apparently our bus driver had decided he wasn't going to drive the bus to our pick up point from the morning as the road was too narrow. All in all, the travelling was pretty farcical and not the best experience I've ever had.
Perfect from start to finish. Picked up 7.30am above Hotel Astarea and the trip did exactly what it said on the tin. Everything ran like clockwork at every stop point ( and therefore start point). Boat was waiting at the lady of the rocks and we got 40 mins in Pestar after. Kotor Old Town started with a 30 minute guided tour... funny and knowledgeable. Then 2 hours 30 mins to wander which was about right. We were lucky 18 on the trip so a small air conditioned bus and 10 mins through customs ONLY both ways.
Kotor was an amazing city to see so highly recommend. Perast and the island lady of the rocks were okay but the visit was very quick (1 hour in total for both places) and there is not much to do. The guide, Maria, gave some great information about the political and economical climate of Croatia and Montenegro but didn’t interact with the group, wasn’t very friendly and didn’t want to encourage questions. The Montenegro tour guide was much more friendly but gave a quick tour of all the monuments in 30 mins. The air conditioning on the minibus didn’t work very well on the way back and that day it was 34C. The drive itself was smooth (2 hours in total each way) and we didn’t wait too long at the border. We started the tour with 6 people but another group from the same company had a car accident and so they joined our group making us 12 in all. Being a small group there was friendly interaction between travellers but not with the main Kotor guide which was a shame. Overall a good tour but could be better and is quite expensive for what it is.
Had an extra day in Dubrovnik before Dalmation Island Cruise. Decided to take a bus tour to spend the day in Montenegro. With this bus tour you start out early around 6:30 am and pick up other passengers throughout Dubrovnik before you set out for Montenegro. Your guide shares history and culture as you drive past the Adriatic Sea and Dubrovnik Riviera. The time to get to border is about an hour. Crossing into Montenegro, you have to wait about 30-40 minutes. Once through the border the bus will stop at a small mall for a restroom break for 20 minutes. Once back on the bus its another hour or so to to reach the Bay of Kotor in which we stopped in the town of Perast. You spend about 45 minutes in Perast which is a very small seaside village with not a whole lot to do. After Perast you take a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks to see its baroque church. You spend another 30 minutes on this island which is a very small with not a whole lot to do. After Our Lady of the Rocks you take a 30 minute boat ride to Kotor for a walking tour of its historic churches. Here you have a three hours to enjoy free time to have lunch and explore the cobblestone streets. The bus ride there and back is long due to the long time at the border so be prepared to time your one restroom break since there is no restroom on bus. I could have skipped the stops at Perast and Our Lady of the Rocks. It would be nice if there was a direct bus and just spent the day in Kotor.
We had a great full-day excursion from Dubrovnik to Kotor. We were picked up from the bus stop nearest our hotel at the time we expected. The journey all the way to Kotor went smoothly. The guide collected all our passports for presentation at the border control when entering Montenegro, and that process went smoothly with only a minor delay. During our journey, the guide provided interesting information about Montenegro, which included personal accounts of her own experiences during the Yugoslav War, when Montenegro sided with Serbia and attacked Croatia. We had a brief toilet stop after crossing the border, and then we carried on to Kotor. The scenery was breathtaking as we drove around the bay. On arrival in Kotor, we had a 30-minute group tour given by a local guide and then we had two and a half hours to explore the compact walled city on our own. Kotor is beautiful and full of many photo opportunities. We even had enough time to enjoy a delicious fish lunch at Regina del Gusto. We rejoined the group for a wonderful 45-minute boat trip around the bay to Our Lady of the Rock, where we visited the stunningly beautiful church and enjoyed the views of the island. We took a different boat onwards to Perast on the coast, where we had free time to explore before returning to Dubrovnik. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and I would heartily recommend this trip.
Montenegro and Kotor Bay are beautiful. However, the tour company canceled my small group tour late the night before departure leaving me no time to make other arrangements. I ended up on a big bus tour with this company- which was crowded, slow, and took hours at the border. The long time on the bus was missing good-quality guide; the guide provided was not well-suited for providing historical and cultural information in an engaging manner.
Great guide, and driver, very good value considering what you are getting during the tour. Small group and bus was a right size for crowded roads
We've enjoyed our trip to Montenegro very much. Marinela was a really great guide, she was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of interesting information during the trip. The pickup was easy and right on time, and the driver was very competent. Both Perast and Kotor were well worth the visit. We also liked the fact that we had enough time in Kotor to explore and roam around freely.
The route was wonderful and these parts of Montenegro are definitely worth visiting! Unfortunately I had a bad experience as the local tour guide (from Montenegro) chose to leave me behind by myself at the "Our lady of the Rocks" islet while she continued with the rest of the group on their way to Kotor. Although the cause might have been a miscommunication about the departure time (I thought it was 12.15 while it appears to have been 11.45), the tour guide counted the group, realised I was missing and chose to leave without me (a solo traveler!) instead of trying to locate me. The guide did not contact me on my phone or entered the museum (where I was) to find me because she was not allowed to go in without a ticket which she refused to pay for even though it was just 2 euros! I cannot comprehend how somebody can leave a person of the group behind, stranded in a literal islet in a foreign country. It is claimed that the departure time was 11.45 and I was at the meeting point at 11.50 so I cannot accept that any serious effort was made to ensure my safety and continuation of the trip with the rest of the group. I do want to say that eventually a boat and a car was arranged for me to get to Kotor and that was covered by the agency. Nonetheless, this is unacceptable but thankfully our Croatian tour guide was really helpful in getting me to Kotor and overall was a great guide.
Very good tour, everything well planned and carried out smoothly by the guide Ivana. Only drawback is no wifi on bus (most of us don't have data access in Montenegro) which I think can be, and should be, easily remedied.
Great value package. We were picked up from hotel and dropped off.Tour was great and Maria gave us the right information.Kotor town is lovely,we spent 3 hours there. The boat ride is included as is a short stop in Perast.Best value !
We had a wonderful day trip to another Country from Dubrovnik. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel.Maria was an excellent guide and the bus was comfortable.Fotunately the border crossing was quicker than expected, but could be an hour or so in high season. We spent 3 hours in Kotor - but like a mini-Venice.The boat ride to Lady of the Rocks was included, plus inures in lovely Perast.Superb value for money and highly recommended
I really had an amazing time! Marilenka (hope I write it correct) was really friendly and told us a lot about the history. On the way to Kotor, we passed smootly through the customs, unfortunately on the way back it took longer. Kotor itself is absolutely georgous and also the boat trip was a lot of fun!
Of the 5 days we had in Dubrovnik we spent 2 with Ivan and Select Dubrovnik on excursions to both Montenegro and Bosnia Herzegovina. Both were great days out with friendly guides at both locations. Ivan, our coordinator & SD representative, was a very honest and enthusiastic person with a wealth of knowledge about both regions and how they relate to Dubrovnik/Croatia. Absolutely sublime from start to finish.
It was an excellent tour. We did the town near lady of the rock first then the boat to the Lady of the Rock. Both were nice and perfect timing. The best part was the boat to Kotor from the Rock! I guess we didn't realize that was part of the tour but it was lovely. Our guide for the day was lovely. I unfortunately have forgotten her name, but her stories as someone who was in Dubrovnik during the war were memorable. I'm so glad we got to hear from someone who lived the history we saw on television. She was informative, friendly, and an overall lovely tour guide. Well done! Kotor was cool, the hike was worth it and the old town was delightful. The border crossing wasn't the most fun but both our guide and the driver were honest about the situation and got us over as quickly as they could.
I highly recommend this trip and also booking a trip to Mostar with the same agency (if you have time). Ivan was a great tour guide, and there are toilets stops for those who may worry about the journey.
My wife & I had a great time on a private tour from Dubrovnik to Montenegro. Our driver, Nicholas, became a new friend my the end of the trip. He was outstanding and a good driver. Nicholas was very flexible with our schedule (especially driving my wife around looking for certain face & body oils from Montenegro). We were driven around the sights in a new Mercedes Benz van. The drive around Kotor Bay were breathtaking. We also experienced a boat ride to the Lady of the Rock. Amazing. Great memories.
What an unfortgettable tour. Perast and Kotor were extremely beautiful, the amazing Petra filled us in on all the the history behind both towns, Montenegro itself, and also Dubrovnik. Petra was very organized and had excellent communication skills. Her passion for history was abundant and she was extremely friendly and charismatic. She made our tour an unforgettable experience.
Beautiful scenery, buses on time and we had time to visit Kotor and Perast. Top guide as well as the Perast guide
María, the guide, exceptional, we accepted the excursion in English despite our limitations with the language, but she at all times took care to give us explanations in Spanish, a great professional and a great job, very grateful. The spectacular tour is well worth it
We chose this excursion and with this company because it was in Spanish-English. Our surprise was that nothing was Spanish... everything was in English. If you had known before, the truth is we would have gone with another, cheaper company and with the same services as this one. Another thing that we do not understand are the taxes in Kotor of €3 and none of the tourists who were free did not pay and entered the city as if nothing had happened. One of the girls on the excursion asked why they didn't give any receipt as if they paid to enter and leave the city and thus confirm that the fees were paid and they told us that it wasn't necessary and we could enter as if nothing had happened. And other tourists entered without paying. Otherwise, the guide was very good and professional, he realized at the end that we were Spanish and if we had understood something... Just when everything was explained about the excursion, but well... any questions he would solve without any problem. Therefore we felt cheated since our intention was to learn about the history of Croatia. I emphasize that this score is not due to the guide or driver, but rather the deception of putting Spanish in English.
Kotor is worth spending a day. Beautiful view and there is time for everything. From visiting the Markets, walls or simply contemplating the small bay. It is important to bring cash since some places do not accept cards yet.
