A fantastic tour on the whole and worth the money but, and a big BUT, the queues for the Croatia/Montenegro border were truly horrific. Added 6 hours + to the day. Avoid weekends and high season. The driver used his local knowledge brilliantly to ease the stress of the border.

It was a very nice experience! Kimberly and andrea were lovely. Montenegro is a BEAUTIFUL country and i may say was the highlight of our trip. We were lucky and didn't wait a long time at the borders. Kotor is lovely and i would love to visit again. For those looking for a tour I don't know if this is the right option since the only tour was a 30 minute tour in kotor and of course some information from Kimberly and Andrea on the bus ride. This is exactly what it says a day trip and i 100% recommend!
Great value for money. Guide was helpful and informative, yet his language was questionable. Mia guide through old town of Kator had no speaker and we could not hear her at all, left the guide on first stop due to that problem
We were guided by Sandra , she provided with lots lots of information and she was so helpful to others on our trip aswell , not only did she interact with everyone she also went out her way to help us on the boat , give us food recommendation and place to visit etc , we are so glad we booked this trip and it was absolutely stunning , What a good value for money and made us want to Visit Montenegro again , We hope lots of people continue to do this trip and get guided by Sandra as it was clear she loved her job , we hope she gets the credit she deserves for her amazing work Hope to see you again and thank you for introducing us to that amazing country
Bay of Kotor, Kotor and Perast great, tour guide spoke too fast with heavy accent, not enough historical details, driver great.
This is truly a great experience rain or shine. She hit some unfortunate weather in the bay of Kotor but I am very glad I came. The guide and the driver worked very hard for all of us and are great at what they do. It’s a beautiful destination and was worth the rain and the boarder wait. Note: be careful booking this tour in peak season because the boarder can have a wait time of us to 4 hours. There is nothing the company can do about that and they handled everything very smoothly. Very professional and fun people
The views in Montenegro were brilliant, we visited a couple of towns and had time to explore independently in both. We also had a short tour in Kotor with local recommendations and historical facts. The only downside to this trip was the potentially long wait at the border when crossing into Croatia from Montenegro, meaning we could have waited for 8-10 hours due to high traffic in August, particularly on weekends. Our tour guide, Luka was very helpful and managed to find another way to get us all back into Croatia through another area. Overall a great experience but if booking this trip in August prepare for VERY long queues (up to 8km) at the border either too or from Montenegro.
I have choose this trip as it is a small group trip in a mini bus like many other trips I booked before on viator, but unfortunately It wasn’t a small group trip, i have been misled, it was a large group trip, which was time wasting in borders and assembly time, etc
Great tour. Wonderful scenery. Patricia was a great guide- knowledgeable, caring and amusing. She was interested in all of her group and checked all were OK. Immigration was slow but that's usual when crossing borders.
We had 'Jonny' as our driver and he was fantastic. So knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. A great driver also! The group was more than the 7 advertised (we had about 13), but still a small enough group so it didn't cause any issues. The scenery in Montenegro was out of this world, an absolute must-see! The only downside which is completely out of anyone's control was the border queue on the way back, but it didn't dampen the day experience.
Visiting Montenegro, the boat trip and the old town. This tour was very informative and our Tour Guide ( Marinella) was an excellent tour guide and displayed outstanding knowledge on Montenegro. The local tour guide was also very good. An outstanding and enjoyable tour.
‘Small’ group tour was actually a very large full bus. Truck stop for coffee, big queue for toilet, back on bus to transfer to walk around small town to wait for boat to take us to the lady of the rocks where the group had a whole 20 minutes to queue again for toilet or the church (choose 1). Most people did not get to do either as queues so long. Back on small boat to putt along to Kotor. We could not hear the guide on the boat over the engine. Once at Kotor we had the same local guide who did not have a microphone or headsets for the group for a short old town tour (about 20 minutes). Some people missed this as again queuing for toilets! Then free time of approximately 1.5 hours then back on bus for return trip. Note bus has terrible air con, it was so hot even the guide was fanning herself with paper to try and stay cool. Actual small groups and bus would improve this tour and this is what we thought we were paying for but didn’t get. A positive- The guide on the bus gave a great summary of the 1991 war.
Wonderful day trip to Montenegro. Highly recommend if you are in Dubrovnik and want to visit a different country. Beautiful weather, great boat trip to the little island and then to Kotor. Great experience and a brilliant driver and tour guide. The views on the way to Montenegro and back are beautiful.
Tour guide was very good and engaging. We had several members of the tour we very late getting back on the bus at each of the stops we made. I wish we could have left these irresponsible people there. They made us loose time in Kotor. Kotor is beautiful and even though the weather was extremely hot we still enjoyed it. The only issue was the poor air conditioning in the bus. It was never able to cool down the bus and made for a very uncomfortable ride the entire way. You should warn people that your buses cannot keep a reasonable temperature. Tour would be great in October or November.
Well organised tour of Montenegro. We didn’t get good weather but the tour guide was really informative and helpful.
Great experience. Timing was perfect. Driver and guide tour are fenimenal. Weather didn't help but we got the most out of it.
Beautiful scenery and Kotor old town is a must see with it’s quaint squares and streets. The town of Perast was also a pleasant stop. Great bars and restaurants to relax in overlooking the bay.
Top rated experience! Beautiful Montenegro - Kotor is a gem. Excellent tourguide Ivan with perfect English and knowledge of the region ( history, food and football:-) Small group of very nice people interested in each other views and opinions- we have covered almost all the topics. Highly reccomended!
The tour guide has so much knowledge about the place and history. We haven’t bored even it was long drive. Thank you so much!
We. Booked this tour thinking it was a small group tour. It was not, it was a bus full of people. We felt like we were lied to. Montenegro was beautiful and the woman who led the tour did a very hood job. It was a full day and most of it was spent on the bus. I wouldn’t recommend this tour
Had a great time. Our minibus was able to go around the big tour buses at the border and get going. The small boat trip to the island was nice and interesting. Time spent in town was plentiful, you could leisurely stroll inside the town or hike up on the walls. Before getting there, there is a mall coffee stop with a huge supermarket. great experience, lovely scenery. Would love to return.
A must do day trip out of Dubrovnik. They made it so easy by picking us up near our place. Enough stops to stretch our legs, use the restroom, and take pictures of Stunning Montenegro. Maria was great at providing us with history and facts as we drove. Would definitely do again!
Had a wonderful time. Our guide Sanja was wonderful and going along the coast of Montenegro was unforgettable. Would totally do this again.
The tour guides were full of information, friendly and provided good tips. There was no pressure to stay with the tour if you wanted to wander on your own. It was terrific and I am so glad I made the trip from Dubrovnik to Montenegro. I want to go back!
Not too long a drive, lovely boat tour and lots of info about Montenegro, lady of the rock and Kotor.
We had a Saturday morning trip with Nick in Montenegro. It was fantastic. Not only are the bay towns jaw droppingly beautiful, but Nick was very informative and fun. Many thanks Nick!!
I had booked the small group option for this tour. The night before I got a message saying it had been cancelled and I could join the larger group one. I was told a seat would be reserved for me in the front of the bus. When I was picked up promptly at 7:30 in the designated spot the guide immediately pointed me to the seat she had saved for me. I appreciated that. Our guide was professional, friendly and efficient. She explained the entire day and kept us posted throughout. She along with our driver are excellent at their jobs.
Such a fantastic trip! Even the drive into the towns was spectacular! The boat ride from the lady of the rock to kotor was an added bonus I wasn’t expecting. Kotor has a great hike up the wall for anyone interested, and there’s enough time during the stop. Bring coins for this trip as the church on the lady of the rock is €1 to go in and I only had large notes that they couldn’t accept.
Beautiful trip and weather. Tour guides were friendly and informative. Excellent tour and I would recommend it.
Excellent tour! The tour guide Hanna is very knowledgeable and friendly. She speaks multiple languages! The scenery of Montenegro is amazing. The boat tour to Kotor was such a joy ride! Highly recommended!
Kotor old town is a nice, charming place to go. Landscape till there was amazing. The guide, Ivana, was very professional. She told us a lot of interesting facts about the region. Short boat ride in Kotor bay is wonderful. For sure it is worth to go.
If you have a free day while in Dubrovnik and want to do something different this trip is definitely recommended. It is not necessarily a small group (in comparison to a group of 50 then yes). Our group was ~20 which is still manageable but keep this in mind if you have different expectations
This was not a small group tour. I was picked up by a van that then transferred me to a big bus of 40-50 people. I specifically booked this tour because I wanted a smaller tour group.
Amazing Tour! From start to finish this was professionally run and an excellent experience! Pickup was timely and I was able to get assistance via WhatsApp when I had trouble locating the meeting place. It was a small group in a luxury Mercedes van with comfortable seats and great AC. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and gave lots of interesting information during our drive, which felt very safe. We made a short pit stop for coffee before stopped in the beautiful city of Perast where we met with another wonderful local guide before embarking on a boat tour to Our Lady of the Rock where we had time to go in and explore the church and museum. We continued by boat to Kotor where we had a walking tour before plenty of free time to eat and explore. Every place was beautiful! Although we hit unexpected traffic, they didn’t cut our time short anywhere with was greatly appreciated! Instead we just got back a little later. Def a 5 star experience and a perfect way to get introduced to the best of Montenegro! Thank you!
The best tour group in town! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared the most interesting stories along the way. The transportation was clean, cool(a/c is a must in the summer) and safe! Would recommend to everyone I know
Went to the tour with my friend and we both loved it! Went to such an amazing places and everything was very well organized.
I overall had a pretty good experience. I had to wait an extra 10 minutes at my pickup location, but that was to be expected. My tour guide was Maria, who was informative and relatively nice. I was able to get one for $60 per person, which was great for the amount of things on this tour. I wish there was more time in Kotor, but it was still very enjoyable.
Interesting and educational tour. Sylvia provided a very informative and engaging experience. The pace allowed us to absorb the information and connect to the sites. Could not be more pleased. She also provide recommendations for dining as we returned to our hotel. Our driver was pleasant and safe and the vehicle was clean/comfortable.
We did the day tour from Dubrovnik to Montenegro, which overall, was quite a nice day out. The border crossings were smooth and travelling with the company felt very safe. The guide was friendly and we got a reasonable amount of time in both Perast and Kotor. The local guide that took us for a half hour through Kotor's walled old town was quite quirky and spoke very quickly. The couple of issues we had was that the guide didn't tell us as much about the culture as we had hoped but we also didn't ask as many questions as we could have, and there was a mix up with the pick up times - one document said 7am, another communication I had said 7:20am. Not a big deal and otherwise the tour operator was very helpful and quick to assist.
Nice way to see country side of Croatia to Montengro. Our guide gave great History and culture lesson along the way.
The guide was wonderful and the destinations beautiful. However, I did feel like time was short in the different locations. If you want a thourough tour of Kotor, this is not the trip for you!
All was superb from pick up location to information enroute and at the sites as described! I highly recommend this tour. lots of time to tour, shop, and relax. The driver and guide were went beyond just doing a job! Fun, entertaining, and so amicable with everyone on the tour!
I was looking for a taster of a country I had never visited before. This was a tour with quite a bit of driving on smallish roads - quite bumpy at times - but in some spectacularly beautiful scenery. There were 19 guests (the maximum) on my tour, with the guide Tiana who was very interesting and had some good jokes! She got the commentary just right - not talking all the time, but giving us plenty of insights into the country we were visiting (Montenegro), including from the point of view of her own country (Croatia) as well as more generally. Pickup time from my hotel was very early in the morning but exactly at the promised time and all the arrangements worked smoothly. The minibus takes a while to pick everyone up, but then we made good progress because it was a Sunday in October and there was not too much traffic. Border crossing was easy - we were told that this is often not the case in high season, and also takes much longer with a big group. Perast was pretty and we had time to wander around and take photos. The trip to Our Lady of the Rock (artificial island) was interesting but quite crowded - we then continued by boat to Kotor, with some commentary by a local guide. This was a lovely way to arrive in Kotor. Local guide then gave us a quick tour of the Old Town, again very crowded because there were cruise ships in the bay, before giving us a couple of hours free time to get lunch or explore. I walked up to the Fortress - a very hot and exhausting walk with 1,350 steps but definitely worth it if you like that sort of thing, and a fantastic view at the top. The return journey was fine and we were back at the hotel around 5.30pm.
Had a lovely time visiting Montenegro. Not too long of a day and some great historical information to take on board. Both guides were fantastic and I highly recommend this tour
Great driver and guide. Comfortable vehicle and smooth ride. Montenegro was small but nice to visit. A good mix!
Petra is the friendliest guide and so knowledgable! The trip was fantastic and the views were beyond gorgeous!! Thank you for an amazing day!
We've booked the Montenegro coast small group through TA.In order to avoid booking those big coach tour which usually takes 2-3 hrs at Montenegro border control, I even sent a message to SelectDubrovnik to double confirm that I am booking the correct tour- the 18persons minibus tour. They replied and reassured I have booked the right tour. On the day, the minibus arrived at the pickup location on time, but then the horror story began. The guide from the minibus picked up two other tourists then wanted to leave immediately, without even looking at us. I tried to show her my confirmation voucher which clearly wrote Montenegro Coast small group tour, but she simply didnt look at it and said "you are not in this tour"and drove striaght away. I chased after the minibus for like 100m on the road until the driver stopped. Yet the guide still did not make any attempt to look at my confirmation letter or help me clarify things. She just repeated "u wait for the next coach" and drove away(again the "you are none of my business" attitude) , leaving me and my wife on the road shocked and didnt know what to do. I contacted the company, NO reply at all. 15minutes past the agreed pickup time, the big coach came, the guide realised they made the mistake by putting me into the big coach tour instead of the minibus tour. She rudely told us "you want to go with us or not, if not go and get the refund", I chose to have my refund because the price and itinerary of the big coach n minibus tours are completely different, and I didnt want to compromise given their rude n careless attitude. So I asked her for the company address for refund and she wasnt even sure whether her company has offices in the old city! After seeking help from the Dubrovnik Tourist Information Center, SelectDubrovnik finally replied and apologized! The truth is: they have overbooked in the minibus tour as they said the minibus was full and therefore put me into the another big coach tour! This is totally unacceptable!! My wife was very upset and doubt whether we were discriminated as we are Asian. I consider making a formal complaint to the Croatia Tourism Board. JUST stay away from SelectDubrovnik if u dont want your vacation ruined. Their booking system simply chaotic and their staff are unprofessional!
This was an excellent day trip that I would gladly recommend. There were long hours on the bus but the countryside afforded some lovely views. Our driver and Croatian guide were kind, thoughtful, and organized. Our Montenegrin guide was a great storyteller and compelling to listen to. Both Perast and Kotor were excellent cities to visit: each beautiful and intriguing in their own ways. We also lucked out with both our border crossings, they were quick and easy. The only thing I would have wished for is a little more free time to explore both cities.
Pick up was right on time. Border crossing in both directions were quick as we were on the old highway. Perast was interesting as was The Lady of the Rocks. Kotor is amazing! Driver was good. Guide was fair...she was very difficult to understand and not very enthusiastic. It poured rain all day which limited our enjoyment but no fault of the tour! We saw enough to know we will return in our own some day!
Montenegro was absolutely beautiful! The driver gave a history of the country during our drive, and the boat trip between the two towns was breathtaking. We had plenty of time to explore each town on our own. Would highly recommend!
