A wonderful experience that made my 1 night work trip to Dublin much nicer. A cocoon experience in this historic Victorian Townhouse in the leafy district of Portobello. Personal touch. Cosy bar. Very comfy bedroom. High quality in the smallest details. Ibwill be back with my husband and for longer!

This place is amazing. The staff is very polite, helpful and professional. Breakfast is hot and there's something for everyone! I recommend getting the breakfast when you book. The beds are comfortable. You will not be disappointed. Come check it off one of your Dublin experience.
Staying here was unexpectedly a little... strange. Check-in was unpleasant. We told the woman at the front desk that we'd just come off a long, international flight and were exhausted. She seemed wholly unsympathetic and told us that our room wasn't ready yet. It was noon and we understood that early check-in isn't always possible. We begged her to text us as soon as we could get in our room and then wandered, bleary-eyed and exhausted around the city. Finally, after 3 hours of trying to kill time, we returned to find that at some point our room was ready but that she hadn't texted. Ugh. Inhospitable. We unpacked our things in the room, only to find that there was literally nowhere to put our things. Very attractive decor-- but no shelves, no hangers, just two tiny drawers. We had one luggage rack, which my husband used for his suitcase. My things ended up on the floor near the door. And we were in a suite! The bathroom had one tiny area for toiletries but when I went to put out my toothbrush, I found a used washcloth...with a brown stain, touching the clean washcloths. I don't even want to speculate. I immediately brought it to the front desk and waited for her to finish with a guest. I told her that I found it in the bathroom. She stared at me, then said, "And...?" (like, "what do you want me to do about it?") and I told her she needed to take it, which she did without a single word. No apology, no regret, no saying that she'd alert housekeeping. I was flabbergasted. I'm shocked that this property is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. She was the only front desk staff person who never cracked a smile during our entire stay. On the positive side, the restaurant, which serves breakfast and small bites, is an absolute delight. The staff there are very pleasant and competent and the food and drinks are excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts and afternoon drinks & snacks.
I chose this hotel due to the fact that it has a Michelin Key and I would say it lived up to the distinction! The hotel was very clean and beautifully decorated. We splurged for the Lady Jane Suite and I was so happy we did! The room welcomes you with a very spacious, inviting feel. The ceilings are tall and you can tell every detail of the decor has been thoughtfully arranged. The suite has a fireplace (no real fire but warmly lit) and a separate seating area. The bathroom was large, elegant and had a bathtub and shower. They provided cookies and a Nespresso machine, so we enjoyed a relaxing treat in our sitting room after a long train ride to get there. They provide a free gin and tonic with the stay, which we savored in the cozy bar. One unfortunate thing is that the hotel does not have a restaurant; however, they do serve a delicious breakfast in the morning in their very small dining area. The location was nice and quiet, although not really in the heart of it all. It was about a 20 min walk to Trinity College. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for an upscale, boutique place to sleep in a quiet part of town.
We stayed at The Wilder Townhouse from 30 August to 4 September 2026. From the very first moment, we felt extremely welcome and at ease. The greeting at reception was exceptionally kind and friendly. We had booked a small double room because unfortunately nothing larger was available for those dates, but the room was okay nonetheless. The little thoughtful touches make the stay something special — everything has been considered. The bathroom and bedroom were spotlessly clean, as was everything else in the hotel. One small drawback is that the small double room really only has space for one suitcase. There is no wardrobe, so we had to improvise a little, but that was fine. The breakfast is perfect — from the very friendly and helpful service to the selection of food and drinks. We had booked with breakfast included and could choose from everything on offer. The dining room is beautifully furnished as well. All in all, this hotel comes with our wholehearted recommendation! Thank you to the entire team for making our stay something special!
