The Gibson Hotel

Extremely disappointing experience. My fiancée and I were in our room when someone knocked on the door. Before we had even had a chance to get up, the knocking became increasingly loud and frantic. As we made our way to the door, we shouted, “Just a second,” only for a member of hotel staff to use a key card and let themselves straight into our room. Given the recent Travelodge scandal, you would think the hotel would be particularly conscious of the importance of guest privacy and personal space. Having a member of staff attempt to enter our room without giving us a reasonable opportunity to answer was a serious invasion of privacy and, quite frankly, quite frightening. This experience has completely put us off staying here again, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. To make matters worse, the hotel is significantly overpriced for what it offers. In my opinion, the quality is below that of a Premier Inn, yet the price is almost double. A thoroughly disappointing stay, made considerably worse by an incident that left us feeling uncomfortable and unsafe in our own room.

I have stayed at The Gibson many times and always find it to be an excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The location is a little far from the centre of town but no more than a 30-minute walk. Particularly good if you are going to the airport or Dublin Port, both of which are less than 15 minutes in a cab. Rooms are a good size, fresh and clean with good facilities. The fitness room could have more weights options but is always clean and rarely busy. Overall, a great hotel and I always look forward to staying there.

Excellent hotel in a good location. Room was clean and modern with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only criticism was the room wasn’t fully “refreshed” during our two night stay. The bed was made up etc but cups and glasses were left dirty and the toilet and sink were not cleaned at all. Gorgeous hotel, so well designed and so funky. Plenty of photo opportunities! We stayed in the junior suite and it was so lovely, loads of space and all amenities you could ask for. Balcony is a great addition! Staff were so friendly and each one of them had a smile on their face. Would definitely stay again.
