Very little about WWII on the tour.
A quick way to see Dresden city.
The 22 stops were great - especially out of the old town However- there was a loud German voice blasting thru the bus so the foreign audio users could not hear the tour. We asked the driver to lower the German. He did a bit. We got off and asked if all the buses did this and they did and no refund available. So we did the tour but didn't enjoy any audio info!
Worst hop on hop off tour we have taken. Half the translators on the bus did not work and noticed other people upset. There were no maps in English only German so we went the whole trip around just looking at buildings and not knowing anything about them or what stop we were at. The driver was very smooth with his driving and the route was very nice to look at but not to know nothing about what we were seeing was very disappointing
I completely understand we are in Germany. But this was the first HO/HO bus we're ever done where the native language was played over the loudspeaker. Which would be fine but it was VERY loud, making it tough to hear the other languages through the headphones unless that volume was CRANKED. Also, be aware the extra tours offered are also only in German. Which was disappointing since we could find those activities listed elsewhere in other languages. It was worth it, and we are glad we did it, but wanted to provide that feedback for others looking into this activity.
After multiple reviews pointed out incorrect address for ticket retrieval since June 2025...the address has not been corrected so we wound up wandering around. Maybe thinking they would update it was too much to expect. Tour was fine...my headphone jack was inoperable but the others in my party were ok aside from the static. We had Viator credits so for around 43 for all 3 of us it was fine.
bad company that canceop on hop off ervice Big bus was the only tour opperator the canceled the Pick Up route due to a demonstration and did not inform the clients
This trip advertises English - not true!!! Guide spoke constantly in German ( entire tour)! Occasionally we would get a few sentences in English, but they did not match our location! A total waste of money!
Really a great way to see the city, get some history/information/ become orientated & then get off & on as it suits you.
Viator's voucher told us to go to an Address at Altmark in Dresden to exhange the voucher for tickets, however this address cannot be found. When we called the operator, Dresdner Stadtrundfahrten, they said they information is incorrect and we can get the tickets at the bus stop. Which we did.
The map I did find was very out of date, the stop shown was a building site! We saw the bus stop a kilometre away from us, and we spent 2 hours of our limited time in Dresden trying to get on any bus. So unless you get and pay on board and get a map it's useless. In addition Uber is banned in Dresden, even to order a taxi. Get Your Guide refused to refund for a service we couldn't use.
Make sure you know how to work the speaker for the commentary. Sometimes it’s glitchy. There is an extra icon besides the number for your language and the volume. It can help. I really like the hop on hop off experience. It gives you a great overview of a city and its history. Then you are ready to explore.
The main start is at Postplatz/Zwinger, not at the address provided! I struggled to find the stops to get on the bus, but once I did it was lovely!
The information provided by Viator showed an address for the tour and we spent a hour looking for the Viator office and or the meeting place for the start of the tour. After a phone call to the bus company office and asking numerous people for information, we learned that the voucher obtained online had to be redeemed for an actual ticket. The redemption point was not at all close to the address provided by Viator on the voucher. After redemption, we were presented with a map and brochure showing the location of the stops and we were told to go to Stop #1. The audio didn’t work on one of the two plugs for our seat; there were no other seats available on our bus. The loud speakers were broadcasting commentary in German and this interfered with our ability to listen to our audio in English. It made it very hard to understand. The audio timing was off and not in sync with the sites that were visible. We have traveled on HOHO tours in various countries and this trip was our least favorite.
This was a very relaxing way to see the beautiful city of Dresden. Commentary was available in English and was interesting to hear. The cost of A$64 for 2 was well worth it. The ticket was available for the whole day. Recommend.
Very nice bus tour. Good value for money. Most of the places covered are very pretty. It's mainly for people who speak German. Even though you could put your headset and choose your language the loud speakers in the bus shouts at German.
The tour was extensive in the route. Although we had the narration in English through ear pieces it was extremely limited and did not provide adequate explanation of the sights. There were many long pauses in the narration. However, the German commentary was over the loud soeaker, not prerecorded, was incessant and did not stop for the entire 2 hours. They clearly received so much more information than those listening to English.
Pretty views, nice experience. Comfortable and warm. Nice thing to do. I’d recommend if you’re in Berlin.
It was a great way to get a good overview of the city. The walking tour is 1.5 hours. We skipped it due to lack of time. The Zwinger Palace grounds have been completely dug up, so it is a little challenging to get around to the 3 museums on the premises. The sound on thr English audio guide on the bus was quite scratchy and was difficult to hear. There are plenty of these buses running around the city, so they are quite easy to catch.
Enjoyable experience, useful to explore outside the main area.ideally suited to get an idea of where to visit. Useful to select different languages.
If you’ve taken a hop-on-hop-off bus before you know how these tend to work, but here’s the specifics. I went in March so the route was slightly shorter, the price slightly lower, and the waits significantly longer. Hopping off is more of a commitment when buses only come every 30-60 minutes. The route does cover a lot of ground that would be hard to get to via public transport to expensive via a private tour. Dresden’s mountainous areas are so beautiful I’m glad I made sure to see them. The buses themselves are quite luck-dependant. My first one was sweetly old-fashioned, and had screen displays that were easy to navigate, but the second one was less attractive and more outdated. It is also important to know that this is not open-top. Which you can see looking at the material, but for some reason I didn’t take that in when I booked. You’re not fighting the cold and wind, but the views are not as full and it makes photo taking almost pointless, but let’s be honest most open-top bus photos aren’t great anyway. (That said I did get a lucky shot of the sunset). If you choose to take it I recommend getting off at pfunds molkerei, and walking towards the Kunsthofpassage. It’s a beautiful set of buildings and a lovely neighborhood to look around. Also, goes without saying, but best views at the front of the top deck!
I would not recommend at all. This is a complete waste of time. The audio wasn't working on part of the ride.
The tour route was good. We were surprised on getting on the bus intially that credit cards were not accepted. Finding two seats together with headphone jacks that worked was a bit challenging. Once we had audio information, it was quite thorough and interesting. The one time we hopped off with the intention of hopping back on, we had quite a long wait for the next bus.
This is an awesome way to see the main attractions, you can get off the bus and explore the attraction and catch the next bus or the next they come around every 15 mins. We got the tour with the head phones so we could hear the history/information in English. A great way to see the city!! Great value!!
Fantastic tour with great service and a complete tour of the city. The bus was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Best city tour we have been on. Excellent driver, superb and informative commentary, excellent itinery. Simply the best!
We felt the two hour bus ride was very interesting, but about 30 minutes too long. But the reservation process was simple to navigate, the staff at the beginning of the tour was helpful and the headset worked for English, speaking clients, although over the megaphone, the German loudspeaker drowned out what I was trying to here in English
We were on the first bus in the morning but at stop 8 so top floor was full and we sat in the back were view was limited. Still the worst part was heavy diesel fumes in the area. We had gotten head sets as even if I understand German I prefer English. Had some trouble with the system as some of the outlets did not work. But finally we could enjoy the trip and saw lots of beautiful places. We got off after an hour to see some sights and get lunch and jumped on again to see the rest of the tour. This time top floor was free but turned out it did not have audio outlets (at least not at our seats). We bought tickets online and got some discount as well as 48 hours access but it was our last day. We had been here were we walked around and saw old city but in rear view mirror we should have started with this and seen what Dresden has to offer. I hope they upgrade their busses to electric ones with audio on top floor too.
Good way to see all the sites without a car especially in winter, the one thing I’ll say though is that it was advertised as English tour, the whole thing was in German and we had to listen to the English translation with headphones over the top of the German tour guide. By the end of it I had enough of it. You could however just not listen and watch and it’s easy to get on and off the next bus at any stops you wish
For a quick overview of the city this tour is worthwhile and takes you through some of less well known areas - although the highlight is of course the wonderful view of the old city from the hill area from across the Elbe - one of Europe's greatest vistas. The city's nickname "Florence on the Elbe" is well deserved" and because of the gigantic labour of reconstruction, hard earned too.
Not the best. We had to get out at stop 5 and change buses. We had not worn a mask on the previous bus but on this bus the driver refused to take us on without a mask and charged us 4 euros each for a mask probably worth about 10 cents. Then he proceeded to let a lot of other nationalities, I think probably German, onto the bus without charging them. They had no masks either. It made us feel really unwelcome. It was not a particularly interesting trip either. There were a lot of comments like there used to be so and so building here, but it was destroyed and replaced in the 1960s. We were too pushed for time to get off but at least we know if we go to Dresden again this would be a waste of money.
This was the worst experience in all my travels through the world. The 2 walking tours they claimed included were not available in English. Only one loop, not much information, only once an hour.
It was ok, didn't really enjoyed it because it was not enough time for us to get off at the different stops but it was very informative.
To start with we were not given head phones so had no idea what we were seeing. The listing said buss arrives every 15 minutes, it was actually every 60 minutes:-(! So no real chance to hop off as none of the stops are worthy of 60 minutes.
This was an excellent tour of Dresden. I liked how you can get off the bus at any of the stops to explore an area of interest and then get back on the bus to continue the tour. I highly recommend it.
Dresden is much, much larger than most tourists imagine. If you don't spend some time with locals -- or take this bus tour -- you really don't get much of a picture of the real size of the city. The highlights seen by most tourists are mainly in the Altstadt, and that is merely a fraction of the city. This tour is really a worthwhile way to gain a glimpse of some of the magnificent parks, architecture, palaces, historic quarters, boulevards, and monuments of the city. It's one of the few city "hop-on-hop-off" tours that I have fully enjoyed and endorsed.
We wanted a walking tour around the centre of the rebuilt Dresden. There was only two of us on the English tour and so it was very friendly and interesting. The city is fantastic and the stunning buildings are a real hightlight. The guide was very good and we enjoyed the tour.
I thought how bad could it be from these reviews Believe them! You had no idea where to get off as they announce the stops in German and the commentary playing in your language does not tell what the stops are. Not that you can hear the commentary in your language because the German one is blasting over the loud speakers. Do NOT bother with the night tour. It is the same as the day only you can't see anything! n
The best way to get an overview when it rains.
If you want to do such a tour, you should definitely do it with THOMAS. Thomas is the bus driver and at the same time the guide, who leaves no eye dry with his cool and funny sayings. Thumbs up for you, Thomas!
A city tour that shows in 90 minutes much of Dresden with interesting stops and exit options for further excursions.Safe, good and friendly drivers, also with Live Guide. All well signposted.and every 30 minutes from 10 am to 4 pm also for 2 or 3 days with possibility of night tour .Really class
When the bus tour in itself was definitely good. We had the best seats, front and top. The route announcement came through the loudspeakers - here it is a must that the sexist comments are changed. The price of the bus tour includes four guided tours and one entry to an attraction. The three guided tours are virtually a large tour, which takes place only once a day at 1 pm. This is not shown anywhere when booking a ticket - you will find out on the spot... Since we only started our tour at 12:30 p.m., we could not participate in it anymore. We then decided on the fourth tour (the Nightwatchman Tour). This starts at 8 pm (also at 6 pm but this was not suggested to us). The tour was an absolute mess. About 70 people, a night watchman whose voice reaches to the front row and doesn't respond to requests to speak louder. The bus ride would therefore be recommended if the price is reduced and only the bus ride is offered. Unfortunately, the other attractions can only be used to a limited extent.
The bus driver from the Hop on Hop of was just great. We have been picked up in front of the door (Schaffer motorhomes) and brought back again. It is recommended to use that 2 day ticket. I think in two days it is very close to see everything.
Beautiful city tour, is highly recommended you learn a lot about Dresden and get to know all corners of this beautiful city
Bus was too crowded. No chance to understand or see anything. We signed up for a guided city tour afterwards. They said to be there 15 minutes before. It was cold, it started raining and 5 minutes after the start of the tour the group was still standing and waiting. We then left without a guided tour.
Nice experience. The bus passes interesting places and attractions. Very busy and waited for about twenty minutes in the beginning. Driver made jokes in German.
I booked the city tour. You don't have to. Goes cheaper with a day ticket of public transport. Including was a night watchman rundgang.vden I booked then also. Except the night watchman didn't show. I stood with 3 other people at the meeting point and waited in vain. Not a good advertisement for Dresden.
Nice tour, unfortunately in a very unkempt bus (inside). Although we had one of the first tours in the morning. Unfortunately, no windshield wiper upstairs, when it rains you don't see much out front. Interesting explanations. Boarding at the fourth stop was impossible as buses were already full at the first stop. Overall rewarding.
In the lower part of the bus you unfortunately see nothing of the sights. Explanations came over tape - terse and with long breaks, moreover in the back of the bus barely understandable. Audio guide available, but could not be tested due to lack of headphones (so bring your own if necessary). Diesel smell on the bus caused me to feel sick. Conclusion: Waste of time and money at least if you don't get a seat in the upper deck. With a day ticket for public transport you are better and cheaper on the road. Travel time was on a Thursday around noon.
