Beautiful, peaceful winery. Included a private tour of the old winery process and several samples of wine and port with small bites served with each course. Truly appreciated the knowledgeable local guide and relaxed pace of the tasting. Highly recommend.

The wine was great and paired nicely with all the snacks. The view was absolutely amazing! Elizabeth went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and ensured we were enjoying ourselves. 10/10 recommend
Quinta da Portela de Baixo was one of our best experiences in Portugal. Our guide was exceptional, very knowledgable and took her time and answered our questions. After a tour of the old winemaking facility we went inside their beautiful tasting room for a guided tasting of wines and ports paired with a variety of snacks. This was a nice experience because so many of the wineries and port houses give you a flight and just leave to to it after a brief explanation of what's in each glass. This tasting went wine by wine and we learned about each one in a relaxed manner that made the experience stand out.
We enjoyed everything)! The grounds, the personal tour, the wines and food pairings, and especially the kindness and enthusiasm of Susannah. We are neophytes when it come to wine and port, we learned so much and enjoyed every single generous pour! Obrigado!!!
Elizabeth was an amazing host. We saw the wine museum and got to learn about the history. She was so wonderful and treated us like royalty. Definitely recommend a trip to Pedra Alta.
This place is wonderful. Plan to spend your whole afternoon enjoying very healthy pours of very good wine.
Lovely guided tour of the cellars and vineyard and the tastong of the wines was amazing, including some local snacks as well. All with a beautifull view. Highly recommended!
My mom and I really enjoyed our wine tour. The views were absolutely stunning, the wine was delicious, and our guide was very sweet and informative!
Fantastic experience! It was nice to learn about the history of the winery. Elisabete was lovely and very knowledgeable. Delicious wines and snacks that paired well.
The wine tasting at the Quinta da Portela de Baixo Winery in Lamego – Douro was wonderful! Our host Elizabeth gave us a tour of their museum and the grounds before our tasting. The tasting was lovely. We had an exquisite view, the wines are excellent, and Elizabeth is just the best!
If you are going to do a wine tour pick this one as it was excellent tasting and the staff was superb
Such a great experience. My best wine tour ever and I've been to a lot of them! You feel like you're being greeted into someone's home. The Wines were delicious and the pairing snacks were great. Only a few tables so you get undivided attention. A warm and friendly vibe!
Excellent wine tour and tasting in a beautiful place with stunning views. All the guides were very knowledgeable and so, so friendly, providing such a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere that we stayed for a few hours! All the wines and snacks were excellent and very good value - the white port was exceptional and the chardonnay is unlike any other (light and crisp). We'd like to say thank you to the guides for their kind and attentive service.
This was a highlight in a trip filled with highlights. We so enjoyed our wine tasting with Elizabeth. It was a small winery and felt so personalized. The wines were awesome and the tastes of local foods complemented them perfectly. I strongly recommend trying them
It was perfect. Elisabeth was the best guide and she explained us everything. It was very interesting, thank you so much!
This was one of, if not the, the highlight of our holiday. Thoroughly recommend this place - €30 per head - fantastic value. Family run, small private estate just outside Lamego. We have done many wine tastings in small and large establishments but this was by far the best and superb value. Our excellent host, Elizebetta, gave us a short but detailed tour of the wine making process and then settled us at a lovely table under the trees for the tasting. We had six tastings in total - sparkling, white, red and three ports - each accompanied with some very tasty snacks. The big difference here versus other tastings was the portion sizes - each glass was a proper pour, not just a measly portion on the bottom of your glass. The views were lovely and whilst we officially had a 90 min tour it was two hours before we were finished and they were happy for us to stay if we wanted. There is a little shop and we bought a couple of bottles. We found it on sale in a restaurant in Lamego that evening so enjoyed some more! If you are staying in Lamego, would recommend booking a taxi from the town (10 min drive) so you can properly enjoy this fantastic and authentic Douro experience.
This tasting was the highlight of our trip. Suzanna was a fantastic host, the museum and old spaces tour was very interesting. The wine was delicious and well paired with some interesting local dishes. Unbelievable view. I can't recommend this experience enough.
Very enthusiastic and happy guide… Personalized for just me and my husband… interesting historic tour of the winery from the 1800s, followed by wine tasting and food in a lovely setting with a beautiful view. Their Sauvignon Blanc is so smooth and one of the best I've had, as was the red and The port.... Generous pours… And tasty food brought with each, olive oil, made on site, quality, bread... not rushed, we were there for hours! This is the best wine tasting experience I have ever had, and this is coming from a Californian who has done many tastings!!
An excellent afternoon in the Douro countryside, just outside Lamego. Lovely wine and snacks, laid back vibe and an excellent hostess. Thank you!
We did the winery visit at our hotel's suggestion and it was excellent. We had 3 wines (red, white, sparkling) and 3 ports. All accompanied by a snack to complement. They were all very good as was the explanations about the products. The tour of the small attached museum was informative too. Well worth the cost and highly recommended.
The perfect way to while away a sunny afternoon! From start to finish, Suzanna was a fantastic host. We loved hearing about the history of the vineyard and the winemaking process during the tour of the museum, it really brought the experience to life. The tasting itself was a joy, seated as we were on the terrace overlooking the vines. All the wines were delicious and the pairings with local foods was a very nice touch. Nothing was hurried and we were encouraged to enjoy each offering at our own pace. A highlight of our holiday!
Great museum tour with wonderful port and wine tasting from the region with great regional food to taste as you enjoy the views .
This place is amazing! Went here for the tour and tasting with my family and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The ladies working here are fantastic and the tour of the museum was really cool. They have preserved a lot of the old wine making equipment really well and it was a fun thing to see before drinking some wine. Wine, snacks, views were terrific they really take care of you here. Snack pairing with every wine course and they were delicious local breads, cheeses, preserves, etc. Great value, 10/10 recommend. And the wines great, especially the white and sparkling wines. They make their own olive oil too included in the tasting which was an awesome surprise. Very laid back, private experience. Beautiful secluded atmosphere.
I booked this in advance, not quite sure what we would get. We ended up staying for about 2 1/2 hours. A really interesting visit and tasting with a lovely, friendly guide. The tasting was very generous and accompanied by plenty of snacks.
Museum about port wine. Very interesting. At lunch the port/wine tastings never seemed to end, at least 8, possibly more. Lost count! Authentic food. Highly recommend.
Don’t miss this wine tasting experience!!! Our hostess was bright and cheerful. The tour of the small wine museum was very interesting. And the tasting, with multiple top-notch wines and plentiful breads, cheeses and other tasty items was the best we have ever experienced!!
In spite of being late for our tour and tasting, we were greeted with a welcoming smile and an umbrella to shield us from the rain. The tour of the cellars made us want to go back in time and stomp the grapes. We thoroughly enjoyed having our tasting in the private room with a gorgeous view of the vineyard. Christina, our host, was a very knowledgable and friendly guide. The selection of wine and paired food was delightful. The extra pour of Vintage wine was also a fun surprise.
Christina was our host, she was very knowledgeable. We tasted delicious wine and equally delicious food. Highly recommend tasting here.
We have toured 100’s of wineries around the world and this is I’ll always keep a top spot of memorable visits! We were traveling with our special needs son and our guide (Christina) was so gracious and welcoming to us and our son. Some seem to tolerate him being with us. Others like Christina seem to enjoy his presence! We didn’t expect we were reviving a private tour when we booked this. As such finding the location was a little challenging as when we pulled in there were no other cars and we thought we must be in the wrong location. After retracing our route a little, we came back and Christina was outside waving at us. The tour showcased the traditional wine making methods and the history of the winery. The tasting was very generous and was paired with local foods for enjoyment! An absolutely amazing experience!
Our host was excellent and was knowledgeable and very friendly. The museum tour through the old facility was interesting. The stonework of the buildings and the property were beautiful. The views of the valley were very nice. The wine and port were very tasty. Unfortunately, no gluten free options for the snacks.
It was an excellent experience. Beautiful views. Generous and welcoming hospitality and wine tasting. Excellent tour just for the 2 of us. We left after more than 2 hours with a big smile
A very nice tour of the winery. The staff was very kind. We had amazing food and wine with a stunning view over the Douro Valley.
We loved our host Christina, she was very knowledgeable and fun! We had a gluten free person and she went out of her way to accommodate that.
Excellent wine and tour. Also got lost with Google directions, host accommodated us and offered us the tour at a later time.
Thoroughly recommend this wine tasting- even our taxi driver said it was a very good choice! Excellent wine and food. Very knowledgeable about history of wine production.
Beautiful place, interesting tour, charming and generous host, gorgeous view. We could taste 1 sparkling wine, 2 white wines, one red wine and 2 portos. Portions were generous. I strongly recommend!
Very nice wine tasting in a beautiful winery. We tasted 6 wines in total, had some local food (small bites) to go with. My favourite was the fig and porto jam. The museum was interesting. This is a family run business.
We had a wonderful winetour and tasting with Christina. She has a lot of knowledge about the museum/the wines and makes you feel at ease. The wines were delicious and so were the small dishes that came with them. The view is amazing and very peaceful. You also have the opportunity to buy some bottles. Would totally recommend!
It was very good! Good wines and nice hospitality. The view is amazing and location is dreamy. The snacks that came with the wines very good as well.
We arrived a bit early (as we were not quite sure of drive time) and they were quite apologetic and still setting up. We were shown around the facilities with a nice explanation by Christina and then got to taste the wines. Each wine was accompanied with a nice food pairing and a great explanation. Very friendly guide, good wine in beautiful location. Very well worth!
This was 5 minutes drive (taxi) from the centre of lamego. We did the premium tour which was outstanding. Being a small winery, the experience was intimate and our guide, Christina, made us feel welcome and very special. It was such a relaxing afternoon tasting 5 magnificent wines and 4 ports with delicious local snacks and fruit grown on the premises. We had plenty of time between tastings with interesting information about the wine, the region and local information. The quinta was beautiful and had fantastic news. We bought wine and port for very reasonable prices and Christina was kind enough to order us a taxi home. The museum tour on the premises was insightful and a great way to start and appreciate the work that has gone on for centuries in the area. Thank you Christina for creating special memories for us and an unforgettable afternoon that we will treasure.
Visited in May 2024. Great experience, wonderful mix of traditional wines and ports. The olive oil was also a bonus. Strongly recommend for small groups.
Great experience and exceptional service. The tasting was made super special by the pairings they made with cold pressed olive oil, local cheeses, fruits and vintage port apple jam made by the owner.
Amazing! Fabulous! Everything was just perfect. Great service, great guide, great wine and very interesting story. I truly recommend!
I had an amazing experience! The museum was interesting and the property is beautiful. I loved all the wines and the snacks were delicious and very generous portions. I had fresh homemade marmalade and fruit/nuts from the farm too! It was so good, and I got to enjoy it all outside with a beautiful view. I highly recommend!
We booked this as we were driving Coimbra to Porto and it has made our trip. What an excellent experience and faultlessly excellent wines. It really was worth it, even if we weren’t driving past. The museum and history of wine making is so well presented and very easy to see how wine was made.
What a great experience we got on this wine tour! The tasting of all the wines and port was amazing and we got a great bonus tour in a truck in the vineyard itself which was also really nice! Thanks for this great experience!
We had so much fun with our tasting! The location is stunning! We had six wines with snacks. Everything was delicious and our guide was phenomenal. Toured their wine museum as well. Afterwards, we had fun walking through the vineyard and finishing our wine by the pool. WELL worth the price.
We booked this tour at the last minute and had a delightful experience! Started off with a museum tour then relaxed on the terrace overlooking the vineyards. Tasted a variety of wines, olive oil and enjoyed tasty munchies in a very relaxing atmosphere!
Rui was a fabulous host , he provided an engaging introduction to the history of his vineyard , before introducing us to no fewer than 6 wines from the vineyard ! And also gave us olive oil produced on-site , all in a stunning setting
