We had had one hour available and this was a great way to spend the time seeing the nice views from the river.

Terrible experience. When purchasing a ticket, sales rep clearly communicated that an app would not be downloaded. Upon boarding the boat, the captain said the only way to hear the audio was to download an app. Watching the other guests that downloaded the app, no one was listening 10 minutes into the trip due to the poor quality and the multiple languages everyone was listening to on their speakers. Clear waste of money and time.
There was a delay of 10 minutes on starting the trip. On the end we were waiting for a time compensation but it ended 5 minutes earlier. In a one hour trip 15 minutes makes a difference.
The guide is friendly. The experience is calming and a early booking is advisable. Book in advance to enjoy.
It is a very pleasant glide through a few miles of the river seeing many vineyards, quintas, and famous port brand owners.
We had a nice time enjoying the river and all the wineries and the boat was very nice. It gives you a nice little taste of the area without going on for too long.
We had a wonderful boat ride with Captain Fernando showing us the sights along the Duro river. His intimate knowledge of the area and his great sense of humor made the boat ride go way too quickly! We will return again for another ride on that beautiful river every time we visit the area!
Fantastic guide who explained with passion and humour the life of the Douro valley wine farmers. Beautiful scenery
Lovely views and decent boat. I think a bit of information on the surroundings would have made this even more enjoyable. Give it a try. Well worth it
We enjoyed a peaceful boat ride as the sun was close to setting. The cool breeze on the river was a great way to wind down.
3 Glaswegians took the 1600 tour from Pinhao for 31.25 euro on 30 July. Loved the stillness of the Douro on a hot 33C day , the scenic and panoramic valley views, and chilled soft drinks at reasonable prices from a friendly crew. My personal highlight was sufficient time ( 50-minute cruise) to witness my frazzled and grumpy 8YO son return to his energetic and gregarious best in time for the long return trip back to Porto. Special thanks to Ian (Spurs fan from London) and his party for not throwing Conor (and his Arsenal kit) overboard - it was a pleasure being in your company! Finally, as a user of Calmac ferries and various other services abroad, I really do not understand some of the negative feedback posted. The trip duration was just right for us, filled a gap and was very relaxing indeed. I would recommend this company to Trip Advisor users, If you really want a longer cruise, try a one-way trip from Regua to PInhao (or vice versa) .
Was a nice quick trip to take in the beautiful Duoro Valley scenery. Boat was quiet and made the experience even better.
My husband and I booked the 1 hour Douro River boat tour. It wasn’t an hour, there was a crew of 3 and not one of them spoke a word about the river or anything else. It was one of the most unfriendly crew and in my opinion not the prettiest area to view.
Beautiful scenery and audio guide to explain what we were seeing. My husband was using a walking stick for support and the crew were helping getting him safely on and off our boat.
Good views. Tour left 10 mins late and arrived back 5 mins early so was only 45 mins. None of the staff even so much as welcomed us onto the boat and there was no information on the boat about how to get the audio tour. Felt like a ferry really with no personal touches. Disappointing as there was no 'value added'
We did the 1hr cruise which was very nice, complete with audio. The boat staff were nice and helpful. The ticket and welcoming staff were bored, rude and short of customer service skills. We wished they could have at least faked a smile.
A quick 24 minutes out to the Iron Bridge and back, so it’s not really an hour, but more like 45 minutes. So minus a star. The the audio we had to ask for it underway and were given weak directions for the procedure to hear anything and spent the first ten minutes messing with it. The audio was ok. I recommend it. But because they made it hard on me, minus one more star. The pricing and people were good. The views outstanding. Definitely do a boat tour.
The boat was as expected. You just sit and enjoy the view. No one spoke, or gave any information about what you were looking at.
Tour gives a sense of the beauty of the Valley. It was also striking how peaceful the surroundings are. Given earlier in the day, our tour was not very crowded which also helped.
Really nice boat trip with audioguide. It gives you the opportunity to see excellent views of the Douro Valley
This one hour boat trip is all the time I would want to spend on this activity. It is just a boat trip . You would think someone could narrate for 5-10 minutes and give you a small history lesson
The staff! They helped this disabled traveler have a safe and comfortable experience. Of particular note, was the young lady who helped arrange a taxi to pick us up at the pier and take us to as accessible restaurant. We can’t thank her enough!
I guess we lucked out taking the last boat out at 6pm as we were only two couples. They have at least 4 boats of different sizes that they take out according to sales. It’s a perfect 50 minute cruise, 25 minutes east towards Spain and back. You get to see the protected areas of the Douro river valley where no public roads are allowed, only vineyards. The boats are clean, solid and the engines are quiet and don’t give off any polluting odors although I’m sure not the most eco-friendly activity.
Despite what was mentioned in the booking, there was no audioguide. There was a bunch of loud, uneducated and drunk Englishmen on the boat that were screaming and shouting during the whole cruise. The captain said nothing nor the crew. The captain was loudly joking with them and bragging about parties. His attitude was absolutely not professional and disturb the other passengers. We do not recommend this cruise.
Did a one hour ride and was suppose to receive English headset but when I asked was told it was only for the two hour ride ( which I doubt they do either). Glad I didn't spend a lot of money and only did one hour.
Beautiful, relaxing 1 hour cruise through the most picturesque wine country I have seen. Great boat, not overcrowded and everyone has a good view. Exactly want we wanted. Tip: byo wine for a sip on the cruise.
Nice trip. Perfect amount of time. Now they want me to add more words to my review. I was trying for brevity because I hate to read long wordy reviews. This app will not accept this so I am just going on and on and on…. Looks like I have enough words now. So long.
The views were lovely and staff were friendly! However, the boat was only half open, the other half was a windowed room that obviously got very hot very quickly, so passengers had to switch seats halfway through because the inside seated passengers were too uncomfortable. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, there was no commentary on the boat which is kind of expected with a tour.
This cruise was booked by our hotel on our behalf. We chose the one hour tour. We received a flyer from our hotel with some basic info and used the gps to navigate to the starting point. If you are driving, note that there was parking right by the boat docks. Getting there was a bit scary as the winding, hilly roads are not for the faint of heart. There was a sign for the tour, however no one was there to provide guidance. Some tour vans showed up and we queued up behind their people as their guides provided some insight on where to wait. The sign by the ship highlighted “audio tour” but no instructions. We looked up the website on our mobile phones while we were waiting in line and followed directions to download the app. It took some time to download the app, so I strongly suggest you download it before you arrive. We received a message after choosing your language, that instructed you to turn on your Bluetooth and find the sensor on the boat. We did not see any type of signage or a sensor on board. The crew on the boat had no idea what we were talking about. even after I pulled up the info on my phone and showed them the message. I finally gave up. The boat was pretty full so I suggest you get a seat at the very front or up top in the back if you want some airflow during the ride. There are very clean restrooms on board and a place to buy drinks. This was essentially a ride down the river with some beautiful views of the vineyards and terraces. The Alto Douro has a very interesting history on why the terraces were built for the vineyards. . This would have been great background for the sights you will see. The views were incredible but the low rating is really due to the insufficient information while on and before the cruise and the lack of helpfulness of the crew.
Very punctual. We booked an early trip at 10am to beat the crowds and had the whole boat to ourselves. Parking was convenient infront of the boats too.
Magnifico Douro's website recommends downloading an app so you can listen to commentary about the sights while you're on the boat tour. We didn't download the app before we took this boat tour, but it turned out we didn't need to. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. He provided interesting commentary and also sensed when we were ready to just sit back and enjoy the scenery. Because we were there in the off-season, there were only 6 other people on the boat. Their company also contributed to the good time we had.
My wife and I took a 1 hour rabelo boat trip in Pinhao in Feb 2023. We were lucky as we were the only people on the boat, which was probably a combination of it being low season plus it was 10am so the day-trippers had not arrived yet. This trip usually has an audio guide available, but given it was just the 2 of us on the boat, the guide gave us all the insight directly. Though it was a fairly short trip, the scenery was beautiful and we really enjoyed it.
The day was beautiful and the scenery is absolutely amazing. This is a definite must do. I highly recommend this lovely experience
Amazing experience in a most spectacular setting. The crew was outstanding. Highly recommended for singles, couples and large groups.
Nothing. Boring. No audio. No music. Just plain drudgery Terrible. Horrible. Not an enjoyable trip. We rushed to get there. Ugh
Obviously the river is beautiful and you should do a boat tour. But not with this company. It was a large boat with no personal touches, no helpful staff and the advertised free guide app did not work and no one was able to help. Avoid this company!
I'd booked this tour thinking we'd be on a smaller Rabelo boat but instead we were seated on a much larger boat due to incoming coaches. We had to wait as they were late so didn't set off until at least 10 past the hour but we were still back at the dock at 10 to the hour, so I made that a 40min trip. It was fine, no commentary telling you anything but the boat was packed and so overall felt it was average as a trip accepting it wasn't expensive.
One of the reasons to select Magnífico is their promoted App commentary. Download the App before travel and connect onboard. Very disappointing on today’s trip that the commentary was not functioning. No announcement made - just many passengers trying to connect and giving up after some time. Upon enquiry at the onboard drinks counter, we were informed that the blue tooth device could not be found. The boat captain then explained that a QR code is required to activate the blue tooth device and that the paper on which the QR code is printed had ‘blown away in the wind’. Best explanation of the day! Enjoyment of the journey for many was diminished without the commentary. This reflects badly on Magnífico - who need to provide the offering they promote.
The crew, Fenando n Diego made a great impact on us. Their love for the place, the passion with which they speak of it and the knowledge they share made us feel a deep respect n affection for this place n it's people . That made this cruise very special for us. The staff at the ticketing counter n collection center were also helpful n cheerful. A very pleasant experience all round.
Nothing good. Overcrowded. 15 minutes late start waiting for a tour bus to arrive. Standing room only. Difficult to impossible for photos due to over crowding. So packed you couldn’t even attempt to get to bar or restrooms from the front. No guide despite your asking for language choice. Returned on time so only 45 minutes instead of 1 hour but happy to get off. Just a terrible experience bordering on fraudulent as we certainly did not get what we paid for
We loved this one-hour boat trip down the beautiful Douro. It was well organized, dependable, set off right on time, the organizers/captain were so nice and willing to answer any questions... and we were happy to have chosen the earliest time slot (10am) as there were only four of us on the boat at that time - nice, cool and calm before the daytime rush and heat. A lovely activity to start off your day in the breathtaking Douro region.
We really enjoyed our rabelo ride - it was busy (I think we were the only people not on an organized tour), but the views were great and it was nice to be on the water. We couldn't figure out the audio guide, but that's ok.
We had a fantastic 1-hour boat ride down the Douro river. Great host, skilled captain, beautiful views... just lovely.
It was a rainy day, but despite everything it was a beautiful walk at the end of the day. Stay at 2h from Porto. The ride on the Rabelo boat was very interesting, our guide was very attentive and gave us several recommendations in the region. It was possible to learn the stories and legends of the region. It was just me and my husband so we had a unique and romantic experience. It is definitely worth the visit.
We did the one hour walk and it was so beautiful that maybe we would recommend choosing the 2 hour walk. The boat is comfortable (with toilet), the friendly welcome and the explanations available on an app to download very interesting. The landscapes are beautiful! A very nice moment not to be missed during a visit to Pinhao.
Superb ride on the Douro with Captain Carlos Marthino and his colleague Emmanuel 😎 They will tell you a lot of anecdotes about life in the valley and the transport of the port in Rabelo, the traditional boat 👍🏻 The landscapes are beautiful and the comments complete with audio on the phone. I recommend!
Good plan to go with the family. We chose the short tour and just enough for the little ones. Maybe longer they would have been heavy.
Beautiful walk through the river Douro, the landscapes are worth the tour, an hour passed quickly. No boarding Service was offered. Well-organized boat, comfortable chairs
Nice scam. 12,50 € for 30 minutes, go 30 minutes. Time return. Audio guide to download to your phone or it only tells you about properties in Porto owned by big companies with no history on the history of Douro on the history in general. Nothing interesting. Nothing cultural, too bad
Tour made in the Douro on a rabello boat. Amazing views, friendly and friendly staff. Lack of information during the tour, as no communication is made throughout the tour and so we do not know what we are visiting / seeing.
