The cruise up the river was lovely, however, our hostess failed to give us any information on the sights or the vineyards we were passing. The restaurant they picked for lunch was outstanding.

Great way to see the terraces and vineyards from the river. Excellent lunch at local restaurant. Some walking from boat to train may be difficult for those with mobility issues.
We weren’t able to do the tour, confusing directions were given and we were unable to find the meeting spot. Not enough info given . When we tried contacting the tour operator we got no response. When we reached out to Viator for assistance they also received no response for the tour operator. Didn’t receive a full refund. Don’t waste your money
We were running late and missed the boat , no problem! We emailed the office and they arranged an alternative immediately so we could catch the boat we missed at another location. So helpful and flexible! Lunch was fabulous!
Setting out from the Pinhao port, our guides had good knowledge about the history of the grape vines in the Douro valley and the sparkling brut wine was a nice touch as we cruised one way up the river taking in the breathtaking terraced vineyards. The Hogwarts express like train ride on the way back was really fun with open air windows and tracks running side-by-side the Duro River. Back in Pinhao the bundled lunch meal was way too much food so make sure to split and have more beer instead. Just pair that with the pork shank dish, which was absolutely delicious.
Everything about this experience was beyond our expectations. We were greeted immediately by our Captain Carlos to check us in and make sure we were in the right spot for Deltatur boat ride. I would 100% recommend this trip but you have to add the lunch. Lunch was spectacular!! Traditionally delicious and portions were huge. A meal at try is the lamb and cod. Ask for half portions so you could share and experience the goodness of all the traditional foods. Ask for Telmo as a guide, he was so helpful and interesting. Thank you for a great trip.
Beautiful scenery. Incredible tour guide, Lilly explained the reason Port Wine from this region is magical and so delicious. The topography and weather combine to form a micro climate perfect for producing the best grapes. Also the lunch was spectacular set with an unmatched view. We loved this tour, including a quaint train ride and station with Portuguese tiles depicting the historical story of Pinhao. Thumbs up from all 8 of us!
This is a fun and enjoyable ride along the river with a short train ride back to town and a delicious lunch!
Our boat and train trip was unforgettable. We loved the small group we were with, and our guide, Sergio, was amazing - knowledgeable, funny, and adding just the right touches to our stunning views while on the boat from Pinhão to Tua. We rode the train back which was great, and then we had an amazing lunch. Everything was perfect, and we will be recommending this trip to our friends and family.
This cruise was perfect. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history and current status of the area. She spoke in English French and Portuguese. We were served area wines which were so delicious! We booked the lunch and were escorted to an excellent restaurant! The boat was very comfortable and not too big of a group. Which was lovely!
Nice views. Maria did a great job. Sadly dock was closed in Tua so had to cut cruise short(in terms of how far we went)
The cruise was great — we were created by the captain and served a glass of sparkling wine; our guide joined us soon after after setting up the boat cushions. Our guide, Jesus, explained what we were seeing g in both Portuguese and English. He stayed us during lunch and then made sure we were able to get on the train back to Pinhão— a great experience!
Everything went smoothly and the tour started on time! Maria was amazing! She did a wonderful job telling us of the sites we were seeing in the Douro area where she grew up. Lunch at phenomenal restaurant exceeded our expectations!!
Fabulous! Small group with a guide who encouraged conversation and questions rather than a canned speech. So engaging and enjoyable. The lunch and the train ride home added even more interesting experiences to the day! Highly recommend!
We chose this excursion because it was 3 hrs, thought the boat portion would have been longer and more informative. I think the other 4 people had to catch train back to pinhao so we rushed to the train stop so they could catch that train. The lunch was needless to say long and over the top too much food. It was a traditional lunch, sausages ( seemingly undercooked), small fried fish that looked like large sardines - we were told to eat all of the fish meaning head tail and bones! The usual bread, cheese , olives and dried meat. A salad, and the main course, I had the cod and husband had the lamb. Ridiculous amount of food. We weren’t aware of any lunch details, but had we known it was a traditional lunch we would not have included it. The other four people on the river boat excursion obviously did not include the lunch so it was possible. The people were very friendly and proud, but just not our scene. We then took a short train back to Pinhao. Maria was very friendly and accommodating. I feel as though she could speak more about the wine and the history, I think she wanted us to ask the questions, we had a lovely day and was enjoying the sunshine and being on the river. I suppose it wasn’t specifically a wine tour, however, it did include wine on the boat. I suppose I assumed the whole thing would be higher end, at approximately $110 per person. The lunch could’ve been reduced by an hour and the boat ride could’ve been increased by 30 minutes! And maybe something more special in the way of wine on the boat. The train ride back was very local and we enjoyed some local older men playing a harmonica next to us. Again, I thought Maria was very good, but could be more knowledgeable about the Douro valley wine industry in general … Didn’t really communicate with the boat captain. If I were to do it again, I would prefer an electric boat, which is more quiet and maybe would allow for more speaking.
We had a fantastic day with Ariel, our guide for the day. He never allowed the sparkling wine to empty. The boat trip was relaxing and really scenic. Lunch was amazing, so much to eat! The train trip back to Pinhao was a lovely way to finish the tour. Highly recommend it
The whole experience exceeded our expectations. The young crew were fun, well-informed, and helpful. The restaurant was very good and there was plenty of food and drinks on offer. The rail trip back seemed to take no time. The length of the tour was just right.
Definitely not what was advertised. Boat ride and train combined was one and half hours and lunch was not on the boat and the restaurant had no view of the river. For the cost it was not a good value.
The whole trip was great. Location found easily. Nice boat and small group. The 2 boys on the boat were fun and informative. Amazing scenery. Food at lunch full service and great with nice wine. Restaurant staff welcoming. Train trip back an extra experience. Marie our host for the trip was brilliant.
Our Douro Valley cruise was unforgettable! We went the day after my wedding with 9 family members and it was the perfect way to celebrate. Our guide, Rui Jesus, was incredible. He was so kind and helpful. He answered all of my family’s questions about the vineyards along our river cruise route. The cruise itself was beautiful, and the authentic Portuguese lunch afterwards was absolutely delicious! This was definitely a highlight of our trip!
No guide on boat to explain the growing technique. Boat was only one way and the return was by train. That information was not known prior.
This boat trip would have been worth twice the price. We were running late but they had waited patiently and greeted us with a glass of Champaign. There was one other couple on the trip with us and the tour guide Lilly took her time to explain everything to us in both our language and theirs. She was very interesting and the photo opportunities were non stop. We arrived at the village for lunch and had a steep ramp up from the river, which was a bit of an obstetrical as my wife was on crutches, but Lilly stayed with us and help her up. The restaurant looked quite basic at first sight but the views were amazing, up above the river, and the food was fantastic. It was a really unexpected surprise as i had forgot that there was a meal included. It was honestly way above what you would expect for the price we paid. We then got the train back and our guide stayed with us, telling us where to sit for the best views. Could not recommend this enough.
Fantastic views on the Duoro. Informative and fun with our guide Lilly. Amazing lunch. Tour does not disappoint. A Must!
My wife and I had a lovely time during this 4-hour excursion. Our tour guide was informative and polite. The food was terrific too! Excellent value.
The experience was personal in a small group. Cruising on a comfortable boat captained by Ricardo in a beautiful region not seen by car. Delicious authentic lunch followed by a short train ride back to starting point. A young lady, Maria was our leader. She spoke excellent English and was very personable.
The value and professional operators, extremely knowledgeable and informative and helpful. would recommend to anyone
Nice leisurely trip down the Douro River. It was just the four of us in the smaller boat. Much better than being on the bigger tourist boats. Train rider and lunch were great! Leandro and Telmo were great guides.
The whole experience was so much fun, loved being on the boat, taking the train ride to and from the restaurant. Our lunch was magnificent. The spread was incredible, so much to eat, so much choice and we were so well looked after. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Portugal!
I was very disappointed to receive a vague email from Viator the night before our tour, stating that our tour had been canceled by the cruise company. There was no explanation of why and no apology. I would have expected a simple apology and reason for the cancelation. I had to scramble to find another cruise at the last minute.
This tour was very well organised with extremely helpful hosts and a comfortable boat with ample padded seating for the 4 guests aboard. We were impressed at how flexible they were as we made a mistake with the start time and missed the boat to Tua but they suggested we did the trip in reverse and catch the train to Tua, returning by boat which we did. The Douro views are stunning on both the train and boat rides. The lunch was in a traditional Portuguese restaurant which is popular with locals and was generous, delicious and came with carafes of wine. A very good tour.
Tour led by Antonio Cardoso, very punctual and attentive! Excellent trip!
Travel on the boat well in the restaurant wrong, and watch Mondays is NOT the tua restaurant. Food is NOT a la carte, hard meat and coffee only one coffee only..no option..NOT worth 85 euros of the cost
Great time with Liliana and her team. We enjoyed the clear explanations from someone in love with the Douro. The scenery is fantastic and the meal very good. We advise 100%.
We were greeted with a bottle of sparkling white. The restaurant was great, it was very good and hearty. We have been served like kings. We really enjoyed our ride on the Douro. Our guide Lili was super friendly, she accompanied us throughout the service (boat, restaurant, train). Very professional guide... we learned a lot. I highly recommend it.
We had a great time, the trip was nice and the guide was friendly. We were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and for 1h30 we admired the beautiful landscapes of the Douro with explanations in French of the guide. We continued with a short train ride and ended our adventure in a restaurant whose food was excellent!
The four-hour tour was perfectly guided by Nonnino and Maria. A lot was explained and it was varied. Lunch with fantastic views of the Douro was outstanding.
Another great experience in the Douro. The company (Deltatur) showed a good organization of the tour. Despite the downtime of the event in the Douro which cut off traffic in some areas and the train strike, they made the necessary adjustments so that we could have a pleasant day. We have to go back and now with friends.
We took a boat trip with Deltatur and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The river walk was serene and very well conducted, with beautiful landscapes and a tranquility that allowed us to really enjoy the moment. After the tour, we had lunch at a restaurant with a privileged view of the river, and it was simply perfect. The food was delicious, with typical dishes well prepared, and the service was impeccable. Eating with that amazing view made everything even more memorable. Congratulations to Deltatur for the organization and attention to the details. I highly recommend to those looking for a well spent day, with comfort, beauty and good gastronomy!
Beautiful trip boat trip combined with lunch and train ride. Very friendly staff and excellent lunch.
The views were amazing, the crew super polite and professional. The modern boat with plenty of space and amenities. The lunch was super tasty. Super recomendo.
It was the best experience I had in the Douro, we started at 10:30 as scheduled on the boat and had to enjoy the views with a perfect sparkling, we learned a lot from our guide Telmo and the Captain António. After the boat tour we had a perfect lunch in Tua, a lot to choose from and very well served and served. After lunch we returned from the train to Pinhão and our guide Telmo gave us some suggestions for dinner. It was undoubtedly an amazing day we will be back for sure. Sundays and friends.
We had a wonderful day!! The experience was even more special thanks to Captain Leandro, who was extremely attentive, friendly, accompanied us throughout the journey. Besides the tour itself, which was incredible from start to finish, the suggestions Leandro gave us for the rest of the day were certain and made all the difference — we took advantage of every moment! I highly recommend the tour and make sure it will be an unforgettable experience.
Beautiful views of the vineyards and olive groves. There is no visit to any farm or vineyard. Sailing is very relaxing and allows you to admire the skill to grow vineyards for ports and olive oils
Very good experience. From the calm waters of the Douro, we enjoy wonderful views of the entire riverbank, the laborious shape of the port vineyards and the charming and friendly treatment of the staff.
