Boat Tour 50min Through The River Douro In Pinhão

Fun little excursion on the Douro. Our guide provided a great overview of the region, wineries, port wine and the river. We highly suggest tis tour!

We made our own way to Pinhao from Porto (by train) and booked this short cruise from a kiosk at the rail station. You have to walk down the road to the water’s edge where there is a further kiosk where staff point out where to catch the boat from (just a further few minutes walk away). Unfortunately on our cruise 3 people did not understand this and missed the boat. The boat is small but comfortable and holds about 10 people. Our captain and guide were Sergio and Ivo and they were both first class. The commentary given by Ivo (whose English is excellent) was informative and humorous and enhanced the trip. A complimentary drink of port is included - very nice! A great value option at €15 each and I thoroughly recommend.

The sceneries are pretty. The guide explained the sites pretty well. The guide stopped at the prettiest site for awhile and turn 365º so everyone can take pictures. We got a free port wine drink along the way. We had a lovely time and really enjoy everything. It's an excellent experience.

The guide Bruno and boat captain Ivo did a great job. Bruno is very informative and attentive and the views were awesome.

We enjoyed the one hour cruise on the Duoro. Our guide and captain were knowlegable and friendly. It was nice to be on a small boat with only 7 other tourists.

Beautiful scenery with vineyard terraces. The boat ride lasted about 50 minutes to 1 hour and it was smooth & relaxing. There were about 11-12 of us on the boat and it didn’t feel crowded at all. Thank you to our wonderful guides, Ivo & Ze! They were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the vineyards and the area. I’d highly recommend!

We had a lovely boat tour on the Duoro River that included a sample of Port wine. The scenery is breathtaking and it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable.

It was an inexpensive short boat trip to give a different perspective on the river. The guides are charming and knowledgeable. The more questions you ask, the more you will get out of the trip.

Great boat tour with a port wine glass with Ivo and Simon

We had such a wonderful time on the river for the 50 minute tour. Our tour guide, Ivo and our driver, Sergio were outstanding, telling us interesting history and stories about the vineyards we were seeing and the families or companies that owned and operated them. They also gave us tips on great restaurants and vineyards and viewpoints to visit. And the Port wine they gave us to taste was delicious. The boat was extremely comfortable and was not overcrowded at all. Everyone on the boat had a good location to take photos without obstruction. We took lots of photos and videos. Highly recommended! We enjoyed every minute!

Very beautiful and relaxing tour on the river with knowledge guide and friendly passengers. There were only 8 of us on board for a pleasant ride that did not feel too long or too short. Free small cup of port included and the option to purchase more or different size bottles. Learned a lot about the area. Recommended.

We had a nice 50 minute boat ride with the entertaining Bruno, and our boat captain Diogo. Bruno narrated the tour and was quite informative about the key sights. He also served us a small taste of a local Port wine. The ride was €15pp but if you book in advance you can probably save 1-2 €. It’s not a long ride as 50 minutes go fast, but it was a nice little excursion while in Pinhao. Your meeting point is at the waterfront at he end of the point, where all the boats are docked. Really nice tour, definitely worth the price and the guides were friendly and funny, speaking in both Portuguese and English. We went on the smaller boat that had 6 passengers - it was a perfect size. The boat had the right amount of people so that you could speak with the guide and the others on the tour.

Simon was great, friendly and very knowledgeable. My kids said Simon was very fun and told us about the fish in the river. They said the boat ride was really fun and the best part was that they could ask all the questions they wanted.

First and foremost we want to praise our tour guide Crispim. He is a cordial and knowledgeable host. Where he went above and beyond was when our return train to our hotel cancelled without notice. He volunteered to take us there (a 30 minute drive each way)
