We loved this tour! Despite a mix up with our booking, we were able to join a group tour and had a fab time learning about the valley, taking in the scenery, meeting new people and tasting the wine. Crispim really went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time.
Diego Kalil top guys thanks so much for your time and expertise 👊
Our boat trip was very nice. Ivo and Diogo gave us a pleasant and informative ride. The rest of the tour to wineries, lunch, the railwaystation and great viewpoint was with Simon who was very prepared and told us a lot and was a very nice and fun guy.
Diogo and Kalil were great guides. It was fun and very informative .
We had an incredible experience on the Premium Douro Tour (7 hours) with Simon as our guide. The tour included a 50 min river cruise, winery visits, lunch, the historic train station, and breathtaking viewpoints, making for a fantastic day. Simon was knowledgeable, friendly, and full of energy. He answered all of our questions with ease, made everyone feel welcome, and we felt completely safe with him behind the wheel. He was always punctual, communicated clearly throughout the day, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. We were also extremely impressed with how well Douro Tours organized such a complex itinerary. Despite combining guests who were participating in different experiences, everything ran seamlessly. Every pickup, drop-off, and activity was perfectly coordinated, and the day flowed effortlessly. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend both Simon and Douro Tours to anyone visiting the Douro Valley!
Diogo and Bruno are the best duo you can get for a beautiful and fun trip on Douro !
Simon was informational, funny, and a safe driver. Great day.
Had a great time on the tour and learned a lot about the wine region with beautiful scenery. Telmo and Kalil were great guides!
My boyfriend and I booked the Premium Tour (boat cruise, lunch, two winery tours and tastings, viewpoint stop, and train station visit) with his parents, who were born and raised in Portugal before moving to the United States. All four of us absolutely loved it. One of the highlights was seeing how much my boyfriend’s father enjoyed the experience. As someone already familiar with Portuguese wine and culture, he loved discussing wine with the guides and learning even more about the region’s history, winemaking process, and traditions. Every guide we encountered was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. A special thank you to Crispin (van guide), Diogo and Kalil (boat guides), as well as the guides at Croft and Formigosa, whose names I unfortunately can’t remember. The quintas were beautiful, the wines were excellent, and lunch was delicious. We were genuinely surprised by how much was included for the price. From start to finish, the day was incredibly well organized, relaxing, and enjoyable. I had a smile on my face the entire time. If you’re considering this tour, book it—you won’t regret it.
This all day Douro Valley experience was excellent and great value, highly recommended. Our river boat trip on 17th June with Ivo & Bruno was fun and informative, very enjoyable. Our tour guide for the two Quinta trips was Simon who was very welcoming, spoke good English to share his knowledge about the Port, Wine & region. Plenty wine and port sampling, a good local lunch, a visit to Pinhao train station and a view point above the valley. A busy but brilliant day, definitely recommend booking with Douro Tours - very friendly staff, very well organised and value for money.
An extremely well put together and organised trip. Our tour guide , Simon, truly made our day an unforgettable and enjoyable experience. Simon is a great character, very knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks so much for a great and memorable day.
It was a great tour by Ivo and Telmo. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.
We had an incredible day exploring the Douro Valley with Simon on the Premium Tour from Pinhao with Douro Tours. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, informative, and enjoyable. The day began with a beautiful river cruise through the stunning Douro Valley, followed by a visit to a Quinta where we enjoyed an excellent tour and wine tasting. Simon shared fascinating insights about the region, its history, and winemaking traditions throughout the day. Lunch at Taberna da Ponte was delicious and authentic, featuring local specialties, including breaded hake, fresh salad, tomato rice, and a wonderful port cake dessert. We then visited another winery for a port wine tour and tasting before finishing the day at the breathtaking Miradouro Casal de Loivos viewpoint. Every stop was thoughtfully chosen and showcased the best of the Douro. Simon was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about the region. He made everyone feel welcome and ensured the day ran seamlessly. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal, and we would highly recommend Simon and Douro Tours to anyone visiting the Douro Valley.
Douro Tours combines various tour modules to build the tour programme purchased. Hence, the first leg of our tour - a 50 minute river cruise - was with a number of other people and with a different guide to the later parts of the tour. Bruno was obviously knowledgeable, a very informative and personable guide, maintaining a flowing commentary in fluent English and French. An excellent beginning to a seven hour day. We then transferred to two eight seater vans, one English-speaking and one French-speaking, for our first vineyard visit, commencing with probably a 20 minute drive. We were shown different vine planting and training techniques, and the growing cycle was explained, together with the almost symbiotic roles of olive and orange trees and rose bushes. There was ample opportunity for photography of both the vineyard and the stupendous views. We then adjourned to the tasting centre to sample one each white and red wines, and one port wine. There was ample time to get to know our agreeable fellow visitors and to exchange opinions of the wines sampled. Both vans then returned to the tour meeeting point where all but two of other fellow tourists left for other tours. We and the other two were then taken to a typical Portuguese restaurant for lunch - the main course choice between pan-fired pork pork and pan-fried hake (ocean fish) both with accompanying sides. Dessert was a very moist cake flavoured with cinnamon. We then departed for the second wine tour, dedicated to port, picking up two other couples. The format was similar to the morning tour, with equally clear explanations and plenty of photographic opportunities. At this vineyards visitor centred we tasted three styles of port and again had ample opportunity to chat. We then drove to the highest local viewpoint with tremendous panoramas, often rated high in world rankings. After dropping off the four who had most recently joined us, our final visit was to Pinhão railway station, decorated with wonderful pictures constructed with traditional blue tiles and showing everyday scenes in the early-mid 20th century. Our guide through the land tours was Simon, full of local knowledge and clearly extremely proud of "our valley". Simon was very friendly, expressed himself clearly in perfect English, and left us eminently satisfied with every aspect of the tour.
Excepcional tour, great value. We loved the boat trip, both of the vinaries, sceanic stops and the lunch was fine. Simon, our guide was brilliant. If possible, ask for him when booking. His knowledge about the region and beyond was really impressive. And he did not rush us from site to site, instead he explained everything and let the guest to soak in all the beauty of the region.
Our guide/driver drove into a guardrail on way back from the tour severely damaging the right side tire and side of van. This delayed our arrival back by 2 hours missing our much anticipated dinner reservation. The company refused any partial refund thus this bad review. It’s seriously reconsider if considering this company in Porto on your travels.
Everyone we interacted with was very friendly polite helpful and professional could not ask for better service we were picked up at our door escorted around all day and dropped off at our door. The views were breathtaking the guides were very informative and helpful the boat pilot was excellent could not ask for a better experience
Simon was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and handled busy roads with aplomb! We loved the boat and Quinta tours too.
We enjoyed our curated tour of the Douro Valley, wine estates and local highlights. Crispin was thoughtful, friendly and knowledgeable.
A wonderful tour that ended up being a private tour. We had a wonderful time and learnt so much and tasted some fantastic wines and ports. Highly recommended tour of your area in the valley
Excellent boat ride down the Douro River in Pinhao. Guides Bruno and Kalil were very knowledgeable and professional, and provided detailed history of winemaking and the background of the quintas.
The day felt rather rushed, but also very full & long, but also a bit of a waste of time... I wouldn't recommend a group tour in this instance...
Angie was an absolutely amazing tour guide, very friendly, we highly recommend her. We missed the first half of our tour which included the boat ride but they were very accomodating to meeting with us so we could finish the rest of the tour.
Peaceful boat ride allowed us to view the vineyards from the river while learning about the Douro… then we visited a Quinta to taste regular wines. We then enjoyed a local lunch (with more local wine) and afterwards visited another Quinta where they make port wine so we could learn about how it’s made. Finally we were taken to a lookout point way above the river and, returning to Pinhao we were able to see the azulejo panels on the very pretty train station. A full day! The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks to Gugu, Ivo and Crispín!
A very enjoyable day touring wineries in the Douro Valley. Recommend this tour. Pickup/drop off at our hotel in Porto. Transport in a comfortable van.
What a great experience! The weather was great, the guides were great, the wines and ports were great, wonderful and very informative. Thanks Angie
This experience was fantastic and well worth the money: We started the day with a boat trip down the Douro River with Kalil and Bruno. They both made the trip very enjoyable and provided informative commentary along the way. The port was very tasty and it had a good story alongside it. It was a lovely start to the day. After our boat trip, we met Crispim who was our driver and guide for the rest of the day. We were a group of two families, one from the UK and one from Nicaragua, and got to know them quite well throughout the day. Crispim was an excellent host and made the hours fly by. We had an amazing tour of the valley with two excellent tastings. Lunch was a great experience with lots of locals and authentic Portuguese foods. My daughter is vegan and they even made her a bean stew which she said was delicious. We finished with a tour of the railway station and a breathtaking surprise. I would really recommend this trip. It was a memorable day.
After searching for tours in Duoro on the internet, we opted for the 7hour tour with Duoro Tours, which included a river cruise, tour of two wineries, lunch and the Pinhao train station. We were initially unsure about the duration of the tour particularly visiting two wineries, (given my wife and I are not great wine drinkers), and that it would take up a whole day of our limited time in Douro. In hindsight, it was a good decision to go on the tour. We highly recommend it! There were eight of us on this tour, which began with the river cruise - what amazing views from the boat!!, then proceeded to the first winery located at the top of a hill where we got to sample three table wines and experience more magnificent views of the valley. There was no pressure at all to taste the wines or make purchases. Incidentally the wines were exquisite. Then we had lunch at a local hotel providing a taste of Portugese food. After lunch we headed to another winery, this time a winery where port wine is made. Here we learned about the processing methodology and then it was time for more tasting. Port wines were delicious and definitely quite different from the table wines we tried earlier in the day. Afterwards, our tour guide ANGIE who was amazing and a wealth of information, gave us a surprise trip to a vantage point that allowed us to experience a breath taking and panoramic view of the Duoro Valley. All in all it was a fun day. We enjoyed getting to know the other guests, loved the wine tasting sessions and learning more about the vineyards and wine making process. A big shout out to our tour guide Angie who kept the energy up and left us in awe of Duoro! A tour certainly worth considering.
Our hotel recommended this tour, and we are so glad that we took it. Our tour included a boat ride, a traditional lunch, and two wineries (one port focused). Everyone at the company involved in our tour was friendly and professional. Angi was our primary guide for the day, and made the day especially fun with her sense of humor. We learned a lot from Angi about the area, and are so appreciative of the great memories we have from the day!
My wife and I booked a tour while in Douro and had a great time. Our guide was Crispin and he was really great, he was so knowledgeable and really went above and beyond. We would definitely recommend this tour!
I had a fabulous visit to the Douro River Valley with Douro Tours. Angi was our guide, and she did everything possible to make us feel comfortable and to educate us about this beautiful area and the art of growing the grapes used to make Port wine. We took a morning boat ride replete with a port tasting, visited two wineries, had a fabulous lunch at a local restaurant, and also visited some scenic locations. As a solo traveler, her great sense of humor, kindness and hospitality were most appreciated!
From the moment we started the tour, boat with Bruno was first, we knew we had chosen the right one! Bruno was informative and fun on the one hour ride. Then we got Alexia for the rest of the day which included the scenic tour, a wine tour, a fabulous lunch, and a port tour. She is a true delight! We had the privilege of sitting up front with her in the van, and she was fun, smart, a great driver (very important to navigate these roads here) and looked after us fabulously! We had an amazing day, mostly due to the fact that she’s an amazing lady! Thank you Duoro tours, will definitely join you again if we return !
What a great way to see the Douro Valley. Our guide Angie was amazing. Really explained everything to us. First we did a boat tour. Then a van tour to a vineyard. Angie explained how the land is laid out etc. We did tastings at 2 different vineyards and had a lunch at a local restaurant. Highly recommend this for a day activity.
The tour was fabulous. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Angie our driver and main guide was fantastic. She is able to speak fluent English and has a great sense of humour. Traditional Portuguese lunch and wine were great with large servings.
We had a great time on the tour. Angela was great, very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. Great experience! We would recommend it very highly, real highlight of our trip to the Douro Valley
Angie was very knowledgeable and kind. We had her for the whole day. She took us to a beautiful overlook. It’s a great way to see the Quintas and Pinhao in one day.
Our experience was great! The boat tour was beautiful (do it in the morning). The winery tours were very interesting. Lunch was delicious and the best was our guide, Angela. Great attitude, and very interested in making sure you have a wonderful time. Obrigada!
Brilliant all-day tour, that seemed to be a rarity as it stated in Pinhao. Angela was the consummate guide - informative, accommodating, funny, and professional. The day started with a one hour boat tour, stunning scenery and some light background commentary. Also a first taste of port. Then to our first winery - stunning views and some tasty still wines. Lunch in pinhao was authentic and delicious, big portions. A second tasting at the Croft winery gave us the obligatory port experience. The day ended with a tour of the tile artwork at the station and a trip to the miradouro for a panoramic view of Pinhao and the valley. We had a blast with our fellow tour companions. 10/10 would recommend.
Angie was such an amazing tour guide! This tour was a great way to see the highlights of Pinhao in a day. I'd highly recommend this tour to others.
Our young guide Angela was great. Very informative and caring. Excellent English We did the All Day Tour which started with the boat ride. You got a different aspect of Pinhao from the water. The places we went to after that were well chosen and were good and varied in choice. Lunch was good although we felt rushed to eat and move on. A little extra time there would have been ideal. The views from the top of the vineyard and the lookout were spectacular. Would highly recommend this tour
What an incredible experience! Great boat tour. Fantastic wine toured, great wine and lunch was amazing! Angie was an incredible guide! Very knowledgeable & very fun! She gave us an incredible overview of Dour valley and wineries. Loved the experience. Highly recommend!!
What a fantastic experience. Angie (prob not spelt right) was superb, from start to finish. What a beautiful place. Vineyard Croft was fabulous. Good food. Met some great people on the tour. Highly recommend doing this full day tour, 10 out of 10
Excellent trip. Amazing value for money. Angie was the perfect host / guide for the day. Local lunch and wine tasting was great.
Amazing tour with angie. Top tour guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. Great day, myself and 3 friends enjoyed it. Her English was impeccable
Be prepared if unforseen consequences affect your tour with this company. We booked over a month in advance but unknown to us, there is currently a railway strike that has grounded most trains out of Porto and I'm not sure if other areas of the country are affected as well. We reached out to this company 3 hours before the tour, once we were at the train station and found out that there was no train service available, and they never answered the phone or replied to our messages, and once they did, after several hours, they were not helpful at all. I do understand that the railway strike is "beyond their control" but it's also beyond my control as well, and I get that they "need to pay their providers" but at least offer options or some help. Very disappointed and would not recommend at all. Yes I can read your cancelation policy but a railway strike I would say is force majeure. I hope folks that were affected by the electricity outage a few days back did not run into the same response from this company.
Didn’t full day - boat, wine tasting, lunch and port tasting. Angie was fabulous very easy to understand and great driver. Thank you 🤗
We had a wonderful day. Our tour guide was Angie. She did a fantastic job. Everything was perfect. Would highly recommended.
This tour was a really great experience with a local, knowledgeable, and friendly guide! I would highly recommend Douro Tours for an authentic and lovely wine tasting and area tour!
When you come to Porto and need to visit Duoro valley, you need someone who understands the entire location, culture and people. You have to go with Angela. Request this woman and say Cole sent you.
