3-hour Tour To Discover Pinhão - Moment Of Discovery

The boat ride was just ok…maybe the audio guide would have made it better but it didn’t work. The tour of the vineyard and the wine tasting was good.

My husband and I had a great time on this tour! The guide was welcoming, thoughtful, and caring. My husband has limited mobility and the guide was very helpful. We also enjoyed the boat ride. We truly did see the best of Pinhao! We highly recommend this be part of your visit to Pinhao!

A really nice varied experience with an excellent guided boat tour (Bruno the guide was brilliant). A little disappointed we didn't actually go to a Quinta as we booked this experience specifically to do that - we got taken up to the top of the hill (an amazing drive, and our guide gave us lots of information which was great!) and had a little taste of wine from the vineyards around us but didn't go into a Quinta or have the tasting there - the wine tasting was at a wine shop back in the town. I would still recommend the experience but it would be better for this to be clear - I think they said they only go to the quintas in the afternoon trips, not the mornings.

While the boat trip was nice, the entire 3 hours was disappointing. I expected at least two wineries and a little outside Pinhão itself but it was limited to the winery in Pinhão where the guide Bruno was clearly fed up with his job. I felt like we were on a conveyer belt activity, nothing special about it and extremely expensive.

The guide on the boat was the best. The wine estate tour by van was excellent including the wine tasting included. Parking is difficult to get near the pier. Had to park a kilometre + away, but tour company was kind enough to drop us to our car in their van.

Simon was an excellent guide. He was energetic and open.

A beautiful boat ride on the Douro was the highlight of this experience. Absolutely five star. Kalil, our boat tour guide was knowledgeable and charming. The Crofts vineyard is beautiful and the port wines were spectacular; at Crofts, I did have the impression that there were different levels of tour (food, tables with nice view under vineyards vs inside with no view) and that we did not choose the best level. We still had a great experience, but might have chosen to upgrade had we understood the options better. The three hour tour was a very good use of time for us and gave us quite a comprehensive experience of the area in a short time. Thank you so much for a beautiful afternoon!

Crispim was our guide to the Quinto da Formigosa wine estate that is west of Pinhao in the Douro Valley. He was very personable; full of excellent information and has a great attitude. We had a wonderful experience! And he is a good driver. 😊

Great little tour of the Douro Valley surrounding Pinhao from the river. Bruno and Evo were a hilarious duo leading the boat tour portion and kept us entertained and engaged. Our driver up to one of the Croft Quintas was incredible with his command of 7 different languages. The Quinta tour and tasting was pretty basic, but that was OK since we had our kids with us. It was a beautiful day in a beautiful setting.

This tour included one 5 minute van ride to a winery and a boat ride. The winery could easily be reached by taxi for a better experience. The boat ride can be booked independently for 15 euros and we sat on plastic chairs. There is no guide except if you can use your phone (which mine had no battery).

Great tour. Winery trip was really interesting and enjoyed tasting 3 different ports. Boat trip along the Douro with Ivo and Sergio was also great. Beautiful scenery, good commentary from Ivo, and another port to try. Would recommend this trip to experience some of the history and culture of Pinhao, but also a really fun afternoon.

We booked the discovery tour at the kiosk at Pinhao rail station. The vineyard trip was informative and fun and we got to taste two interesting Douro wines and a port. The riverboat excursions was also enjoyable. A good balance of hearing about the various Quinta and the history of winemaking and some quiet just to enjoy the magnificent views and relax on the boat. Crispin and Mohammed were both great guides for the group. Well worth doing.

Relaxing river tour with learning history of the region. Wine tasting at the small Quinta so much better than at the larger industrial ones. Kind and helpful guides along the way.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. The winery we visited was lovely and had the most gorgeous views. The port was delicious too and the boat ride was a relaxing end to a delightful afternoon.

Fabulous tour! Bruno and Ivo and Crispin were amazing guides. We learned so much about the history of the region and about local wines.

Our guide Crispin drove us to Quinta da Roeda, where we did a tour of the winery and tasted 3 different ports. Both Crispin and our guide at the winery were great. Then we went for a one hour cruise on the Douro River with Bruno and Kalil, who were friendly, funny and informative. The views were magnificent and we received a complimentary glass of port. We really enjoyed this tour and felt that it was good value. All three guides were good fun and we really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend this company and this tour.

We had a pleasant tour. The highlight was certainly the boat ride with.GuGu and Sergy. The tour of Croft winery was disappointing. The person that let our group was hard to understand, the description of the process was quite minimal, and the sampling was not explained, just given to us. Would’ve thought for a three hour event more attention would’ve been paid to the tasting and the Port making process.

After average boat trip. We were taken to Croft for port wine tasting. We got the impression that the tour was not booked and we had to wait 30 minutes before tour started. At the agreed time the nominated guide (Alexia) refused to take us back to town. We were told to wait. We ended up walking back to town.

We went to a vineyard and were given an excellent tour with a demonstration of how wines are produced. Very knowledgeable guide. We tasted 3 port wines which were good. No pressure. The boat trip on the Douro was exceptional. Bruno and Kalil were good, particularly Bruno who kept us entertained and informed.

We had a wonderful time doing this tour. The boat cruise part sis simply amazing. The guide was informative but not boring and makes a few jokes along the way. Then off to the winery, again great information and beautiful. We finished off at the winery tasting, which was great. 😊

Fantastic way to see the sights around Pinhão. Trip up the river with great views and entertaining commentary. Then on to a tour around a vineyard followed by a tasting of some wines. And the cellar door price is fantastic. Angie knows her stuff and kept the tour around the vineyard entertaining.

We have been at a very relaxing boat on Douro river and discovered a lot about the wineries at each side. Our guides have been Kalil and Gugu, very nice and helpful guides. Special 5 STARS service from Angela/Angie, she has been of the outmost kindness, fun and helpful companion! She has explained everything and more, taken pictures of us, told us anecdotes...she waited a bit longer than expected while we were buying some wine and she even helped us recovering one forgotten backpack. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, you are the best! The experience is completely recommended!!

The 3 hour tour was a great length of time, well split up between the boat ride, vista views, and wine tasting. We met Susanna when we first arrived in Pinhao and she helped us select the best tour for our desires. All of our guides (Bruno, Kalil, and Crispin) were great, but Susanna was an extraordinary representative of the company so friendly, helpful, and bubbly. Very glad we took this tour as a way to see the region from land and water!

We had a fantastic time. We traveled with 4 kids and enjoyed the boat tour, the captain and his mate spoke many different languages to tell us about the valley. Once we were done with the boat ride, we had a private tour of the vineyard with Angie who was fantastic. She gave us a lot of details of the process of wine and brought us through the vineyard. She took photos for us at the top. Was very friendly and we had a wonderful time. Would highly recommend a tour with her!

We went to Quinta da Roêda. The drivers taking us to the Quinta were friendly. The tour guide at Quinta da Roêda seems to be in a bad mood though; he did not give much info. The boat tour was great, Ivo was very humorous, friendly, gave us lots of information on the Quinta by the river bank. Thanks to GuGu too!

Bruno was a great guide, with good English and a good sense of humor. We learned about the Quintas and the new and old way of growing grapes. The boar was comfortable, jest 10 min late

Our trip started off with a wonderful boat ride which was a perfect way to see some of the wineries, the river and briefly learn about the history of the Douro valley. Then had a great experience from the minute that Angie picked up! She was lovely and very knowledgeable. She took us to the Croft winery where we had a wonderful tour led by Marguretta. We then had some port tastings and Angie drive us back directly to our hotel. We were very lucky because we had booked a group tour but it ended up being private. Angie was very friendly and gave us tips at places to go in the area. I highly recommend this trip! Thanks for a great time!

The tour was perfect for our short day trip to Pinhaõ. Angie did a wonderful job showing us around and there were amazing views of the Douro valley. I will highly recommend for anyone else hoping to visit the area.

I booked this tour as it was a small tour, no more than 8. The first half was ver good however when we went to the winery we were told to join the tour that already included a a bus load of visitors This was not what I had expected and was disappointed with the winery experience If I wanted to be with that many people I would have just booked the cheaper bus tour

This was a last minute decision and our only excursion we did on our three week trip. We had a great time with our small group trip (16 people). Nice boat ride on the Douro with great guide who gave us essential history of the area. The winery tour was super educational and really added to our experience of the region. We wish we had done other excursions on our trip - especially if they could be as good as this one.

We had a great tour host in Pinhao and enjoyed the winery tour/tasting and the boat ride. The scenery was wonderful and Quinta da Roeda was really enjoyable. What made the tour a "4" instead of a "5" were 2 things: 1) the tour was actually 4 hours and not 3 which impacted our plans after the tour, and 2) when I booked the tour the description was a visit to a winery, a visit to taste olive oil and a boat ride on the Douro. When the tour started we were told that the tour was starting with a drive to a vista to look out over Pinhao. That was disappointing and we wouldn't have signed up for the tour had that been in the original description. The trip up the windy mountain in a van with 10 people left several of us with motion-sickness. When we asked about the olive oil tasting we were told that portion was only for the full-day tour and would happen later in the day. It was clear that several tours were combined (we had different group participants on the boat ride and several of our original group left to have lunch at this time) and they were trying to accommodate the descriptions listed for the different tours.

Guide was excellent. Very informative, knowledgeable and friendly. Pickup and drop off locations were easy to find with good parking options. Vehicle was newer and in good condition. Boat ride was perfect distance and duration.

The tour started with a trip to Pinhao station and a look at the excellent tiling, with the story it tells of the historic port wine production on the Douro valley. We then headed up hill by van to a stunning viewpoint. Lots of chat along the way with our excellent guide, who gave us a great feel for "real" life in the area. From there we headed off on a boat trip up the river to a port winery, where we did some tastings. The river trip is spectacular. Back again to base in more like 4 hours than 3. Fantastic value for money. Well organised. Highly recommended.

An interesting, fun trip around the small town. Timings perfect. Just the right balance of boat, viewpoint and wine tasting - we enjoyed each part. The guides were polite and knowledgeable. Good to be with a small group.
