We booked a few nights at The Vintage House Hotel as part of a tour through the Douro Valley where we stayed at multiple properties. We were actually using this trip to look at potential venue options, and Vintage House was one of the hotels we were most excited about visiting. Unfortunately, it ended up being an incredible disappointment, and we will not be returning. While the location offers amazing views and I appreciate the vintage aesthetic, the hotel itself feels quite tired, and the service was frankly shocking for a property in this price range. A few major issues during our stay: Appalling Service: The service throughout our stay was painfully slow. Dining Mishaps: Staff forgot parts of our menu orders and completely forgot our drinks. At one lunch, they only brought out one of our main courses to share, and we actively had to chase staff down just to get the second main course served. Connectivity: The Wi-Fi consistently failed to work. Complete Lack of Customer Care: When checking out after this series of mishaps, the receptionist asked how our stay was. I explicitly told them it was a really bad experience, and the staff didn't even bother to ask why or try to understand the feedback. Given how poor the overall service was, we were deeply concerned about how a wedding would be handled here, so we canceled our venue appointment altogether. At a price point identical to other luxury five-star hotels in the Douro Valley, receiving one-star service is unacceptable. Avoid unless service standards improve drastically. Vintage benefits from overall footfall and traffic given the location but the service reminded me of a travel lodge or premier inn.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Douro. Close to many wineries in the region. Great restaurant and bar/snack places in the hotel. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous. We stayed with our baby and the staff was very welcoming and helpful — providing a high chair at all our meals
We enjoyed our stay at The Vintage House Hotel tremendously. The room was perfect and had a gorgeous view of the Douro River and the sunset. It was also very convenient to the pier for boat trips. I can't say enough about the meal we had there. The quality was Michelin-level to me. I would eat there again in a heartbeat!
We enjoyed a wonderful 3 night stay in a junior suite overlooking the Douro River in mid February. Although the weather was not perfect (the area experienced unusually heavy rainfall recently) this did not mar our experience at this delightful hotel. The location was perfect for visiting several quintas nearby as well as a memorable hike through the vineyards to the overlook. Our room was spacious, pristine and so comfortable. Each day the room was cleaned promptly. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve experienced for variety and quality - and service was attentive throughout our stay. My husband commented that the omelette were the best he had had! We enjoyed drinks and lunch in the atmospheric Library bar during our stay which was lovely. We plan to return during our next visit to Portugal as it was a fantastic experience.
Perfectly located hotel for a Pinhão weekend. The rooms are a bit dated, but still charming, clean, and comfortable. There is a beautifully amazing scent in the hallways - wish I knew what it was. The breakfast was fine - nothing special but sufficed. The service overall was pretty disappointing though. I don’t come across a single staff member who seemed to care about my experience. If this is something that matters to you, be aware. For me, it’s not the end of the world. The location, comfort, and cleanliness are more important.
