We have been to the Dingle Peninsula twice in the last four years. Both times we’ve full day tours with Mossie. We have done the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry. I can’t say enough wonderful about Mossie. He is so engaging and passionate about sharing the history and culture of Ireland. Mossie will take you to places and show you things that you will never find in a guide book besides he has the most interesting stories to share. If you are coming to Ireland and more specifically the Dingle Peninsula, book with Mossie! You won’t be disappointed!!

Sit back and enjoy a tranquil tour of Ireland’s oldest national park. From the lofty towers of the 15th-century Ross Castle to Ladies’ View, Killarney National Park is one of the most beautiful locations in Ireland. This exciting private tour takes you to the places that made it famous such as the Muckross House, Torc Falls, and the Meeting of the Waters, along with the less famous places that most people miss.
Portmagee is a scenic village along the western reaches of the Ring of Kerry. The harbour is the primary embarkation point for a visit to Skellig Michael, a 7th century monastic centre located on a craggy island just off the coast, but its early life was far more colourful. The town itself is named after Captain Theobald Magee, a notorious 18th-century smuggler who trafficked tea, tobacco, textiles, and liquor through a network of hidden coves into the region.
The Staigue Stone Fort is a stone ringfort from the late Iron Age. Archaeologists have placed its construction, between 300-400 AD and believe it to have once been a defensive stronghold for a local lord or king. Construction on this large site must have been monumental feat. The fort walls are up to 5.5m (18ft) high are constructed completely of stacked stone without the use of mortar or other binding materials. Let us lead you up the terraced walls and into the corbelled cells tucked away by passages.
The Kerry Cliffs rise like a leviathan out of the Atlantic Ocean. Millions of years ago, these majestic cliffs were laid flat forming the ocean floor. As the continents shifted and crashed into each other, this impressive cliff was pushed up towards the sky. Now, they are home to a myriad of different seabirds including Puffins from the colony on Puffin Island. From here, you also have an unobstructed view of the famed Skellig Islands. Entrence Fee €5 (Optional)
Enjoy the Skellig island experience without leaving dry land. This outstanding museum details the life of the remarkable men who ventured into the open waters on skin boats to reach the seclusion of the early Christian monastic community on Skellig Michael. This visitor centre will give you a sense of the life and hardships of those monks who once resided on this UNESCO world heritage site.
Catherdaniel is a picturesque village located on the Ivereigh Peninsula. The village is notable for being the birthplace of Daniel O’Connell, a prominent Irish politician and statesman. Derrynane House, which is O'Connell's ancestral home, is a major attraction in the village. The house is situated on a 300-acre land that is part of the Derrynane National Historic Park. The park is located along the headland of the famous Derrynane Beach.

Helen made the best of a rainy day, asking what we were interested in to adjust the points of interest. She was a great guide, patient for photo taking, and safe driver. Highly recommend and would do again!
Mossie was a fantastic guide. He was so personable and made this a great day for us! He shared an Irish poem with us and made sure we got to see everything possible in the time we had. And he made sure we got back to port in time for Murphy’s ice cream.
Our guide and driver Mossie Scanlon. He took us all around the ring of Kerry He’s great with the history and took us to the famous places and some that were not so well known but very interesting. We highly recommend Mossie.
We booked a private tour of The Ring of Kerry and a second day of the Dingle Peninsula with Mossie. Mossie has lived in Dingle his entire life making him most likely the most knowledgeable guide in the area. He took us on many back roads the larger buses cannot travel. He does not try to keep to a rigid schedule allowing everyone to take photos and enjoy the sights. Beyond all of this he is simply a quality man that you just want to spend more time with. His wife Helen was awesome with all planning coordination. Simply look no further if you want the very best experience out of Killarney.
We have just had the best day with Helen touring the Ring of Kerry. What an absolute blessing to have this experience. Helen is from the Dingle area, and in addition to being an absolute pleasure to be around she is just full of historical information. I just cannot say enough nice things. Helen can really share interesting history, translate the local language and take you exactly to the best spots to enjoy the view. I felt so safe with Helen at the wheel instead of driving and wanting to look at the beautiful area at the same time. Definitely I recommend.
Mossie was the best tour guide ever. He was so knowledgeable and funny. Just absolutely amazing. He made it worth every penny
We had the best experience with Helen and Mossie. Helen picked us up in Galway and drove us to Dingle. We stopped for a walk around Bunratty castle and folk park, then in Adare for Lunch. Drove through and stopped for the sights along Connor pass. Awesome to leave the driving to a local. When we got to Dingle, Helen drove us around the town, pointing out where the good food was. Mossie picked us up at our B&B two days later for a tour around the Ring of Kerry. We stopped at Inch beach, Killarney National park, had a chocolate tasting, glorious views of the coastline, and some car sing-a-longs. Being in a van with a personal, local guide was most excellent, Mossie knew the back roads, how to navigate away from the tour busses, and we never felt rushed anywhere we stopped. Mossie also arranged a driver for us to get back to Dublin. We have amazing memories from this trip, and can't wait to go back and explore some more with Helen and Mossie
First let me say, there is no better tour company out there to hire to do the full day Ring of Kerry tour! We also did a half day tour with them of the Ring of Dingle. Both days, we had Helen as our tour guide. She is amazing! Warm and knowledgeable, with a delightful sense of humor, she gave us a thorough and amazing tour of these beautiful places. She is very easy to chat with and ask questions of, and she imparts her knowledge of her local and country's history showing the deep love she has of her wonderful country. We felt like we made a friend by the end of our time with her, and truth be told, we were a bit sad to part! We also had the pleasure of meeting Mossie as we bumped into him and the tour he was leading on 2 different occasions, and he is friendly and charming as well. Make no mistake, you will find no better people to give you a thorough and utterly delightful and memorable experience. Thank you Helen with great affection, Jody and Geoff!
This all-day Ring of Kerry tour was absolutely amazing! The landscapes were breathtaking, from dramatic cliffs to peaceful lakes. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day so enjoyable. Everything was well-organized and stress-free. A perfect way to experience the beauty of Ireland—highly recommend! You may even get lucky and hear him sing you a few lovely Irish songs. Best tour guide we have ever had!
Mossie was a courteous and engaging guide on our tour of the Ring of Kerry. We were only in Kerry for a short time and during winter so the daylight hours were shorter but with his help we never felt rushed. Pick-up, rest stops, scenic stops, and drop off back at our lodgings were all simple and easy. He was an utter professional, knowledgeable, and ensured we had a wonderful day. We were able to fully enjoy the cliffs and views of Skellig, along with most everything else the ring has to offer, thanks to being able to safely access smaller roads. Would recommend him to anyone and can’t wait to return for an exploration of the Dingle peninsula!
Mossie was our hero because he showed up last minute after a previously booked tour bailed and left us stranded. We’re so glad he did. He was the best! Diving the Ring of Kerry is not always relaxing, but not to worry with Mossie. He showed us all the amazing sights in complete comfort , explaining the rich history of the area , enjoyed a spiritual group at Staigue Fort and special service at Kerry Cliffs for a bad knee. He was considerate of our special needs, had us laughing and truly felt we were spending the day with a dear friend. A he’s a talented musician too. You will have a great day and meet a new friend
Our family group of 7 ranged in age from 9 to 80. We were lucky enough to spend a full day tour with Mossie. He is a very popular and sought-after guide, and with good reason. He is a native of the area, but has traveled the world and is erudite about the world in general. Mossie is a natural story teller and made the history of Ireland entertaining and interesting to our varied age group. To top it off he sang a few Irish folk songs for us as were traveling along. He has a beautiful voice, and when asked, he admitted to singing local pubs from time to time. My husband and I are older and have been fortunate to have travelled a fair bit, we have never in our 40+ years had a better guide. Mossie is a pleasant, witty individual and we very much enjoyed spending the day with him. Thank you Mossie for giving our grandchildren a day they will always remember.
Having Mossie as our guide for a three-day private tour of Kerry and Dingle proved to be the highlight of our entire trip to Ireland. His extensive local and historical knowledge combined with his flexible, easygoing approach allowed us to trust in his every recommendation, while still maintaining the ability to tailor each day to our own pace and interests (including seeing several sites that the big tour buses cannot reach). And his charming wit and sparkling conversation along the way made him a most welcome and memorable addition to our family vacation. It was truly a pleasure getting to know him -- I couldn't imagine touring Ireland with anyone else!
We absolutely love Mossie's tours and highly recommend their tours for the Dingle Sleigh Head and the Ring of Kerry. Our first trip to Dingle, Helen took us around the Dingle Sleigh Head and over Connor's Pass. It was wonderful taking a break from driving on the other side of the road from the other side of the car, especially on the narrow roads of the sleigh head. Helen was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and its history. She took us to hidden gems and created a tour catered to our interests. We loved this part of our first trip to Ireland so much that we knew when we went back we would do this again. And we definitely did! This time with the family. Our second Mossie tour was lead by Mossie himself, left from Kilarney and was a tour of the ring of Kerry. Mossie is a wonderful tour guide, happy to entertain our attempt at an irish accent, very knowledgeable, and an joke teller. We had a blast exploring the Kerry cliffs, small towns, Skellig chocolates, beaches, and so much more. Both tours the vehicles were impeccably clean, comfortable, and we felt safe. We spent our time enjoying the gorgeous countryside, local fare, local flavors, and the company of a local born and raised in the area with an incredible knowledge of the history and the area. Both Helen and Mossie gave excellent recommendations for other things to do not only in Dingle and Kilarney, but also other parts of the country as well. Everyone in our family enjoyed their company, even the teenagers. This is one of the best experiences we had both times we have visited the area. It was obvious that both Helen and Mossie are very proud of their heritage and happy to share their love of the area with us, stopping at favorite spots that only locals would know. We are happy to know both Helen and Mossie now and will look forward to meeting up with them again the next time we travel to Ireland. Hopefully that will be quite soon!
Mossie was the most knowledgeable, kind, charismatic tour guide for a day spent exploring the Ring of Kerry. I cannot recommend him enough! We will absolutely be back to do his tour of Dingle in the future! Thank you Mossie!
The absolute best guide in Ireland!! Mossie is so wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable. This tour has been a highlight of our trip! Thank you, Mossie!!
This was our second trip to Ireland in a year. On our first trip, we took tours with Mossie (full day and half day), and on this most recent trip a full day Ring of Kerry tour. Mossie's Tours are by far the best part of our trips. We weren't even sure where we wanted to go, so he had wonderful suggestions. He brings you to places that you would not know of if you were touring on your own, which made it more special. He is so knowledgeable about everything he showed us, and even included personal experiences and stories growing up in Ireland. There was not a question we asked that he couldn't answer, and his sense of humor made the trip even more memorable. The weather was not great on our Ring of Kerry Tour, but he was still able to show us some amazing things, including the Kerry Cliffs, Staigue Fort and Torc Waterfall in Killarney National Park. One suggestion...wear good walking shoes (waterproof if you can!) We would highly recommend Mossie's Tours for anyone visiting the Dingle area.
Our trip around the Dingle Peninsula with Mossie, like so many other reviewers, was most definitely the highlight of our first trip to Ireland. Such a treat!! His warmth and sense of humor were infectious. He greeted us with a big smile and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing adventure around the breath-taking Dingle Peninsula. He shared his knowledge of history and stories about growing up on the Peninsula. We visited incredible beaches and he showed us spectacular views of mountains and valleys, waterfalls & streams. As we drove along, Mossie entertained us with his beautiful singing. At the end of the day we met up with his lovely wife Helen. They are Just- great people!! ❤️ Heart felt thank you to Mossie!
