Mossie’s tour was the absolute best!! He accommodated our last minute booking and it was the highlight of our trip. It was not only wonderful fun but very educational on the sights and stories of the Dingle Peninsula. He took us to all the most beautiful and interesting places on the peninsula and gave us all the interesting background. I highly recommend Mossie and his amazing tours. He is The Best!

Where the Dingle Peninsula meets the Atlantic Ocean, the Slea Head Drive winds and turns along the rocky shoreline. This 30 km (18m) stretch of the well-known Wild Atlantic Way has been hailed by National Geographic as one of the world's most picturesque locations. Sit back and let our skilled drivers take you along this breathtaking journey as you discover well-known sites like Ventry Beach, ancient ringforts, and beehive huts along with breath-taking vistas of the Blaskets and Skellig Islands. Even Hollywood could not withstand Slea Head's allure. Some of Hollywood's finest epic movies, such as Ryan's Daughter, Far and Away, and Star Wars, have used this region as their setting. Use Mossie's Tours to discover the ethereal beauty.
One of the most curious features of the Dingle Peninsula are the Fahan Beehive Huts. These drystone corbelled Iron age huts derive their name from the unique shape of the building. The Fahan group are comprised of 19 subterrain and 18 standing clochans (beehive huts). Our guides will lead you through the inscribed stones, sculptured crosses, and earth ring forts. If you listen carefully, you might be able to hear our ancestors’ songs carried in the wind.
The Gallarus Oratory is a 7th-century church and monastic site. The oratory is the best-preserved ancient church and one of the most beautiful ancient buildings in Ireland.
Kilmalkedar is an early Norman ecclesiastical site and National Monument. The surviving church building was constructed in the mid-12th century then extended around 1200AD. The grounds include the corbelled Hiberno-Romanesque church building, an alphabet stone, an ancient sundial, bullauns, and a Promise stone. Experience this amazing historical site with our knowledgeable guides so not to miss a thing.
Saint Branden, like the rest of the world, could only speculate about what lay further to the west when he set sail from this small wharf in the sixth century. Will he and his little band of supporters make it to the edge of the planet or will they be overthrown by ferocious sea monsters who govern the vast beyond? He had no idea, but his faith kept him going. The "Voyage of St. Brendan the Navigator", compiled in the 9th Century tells the history of a party of men who may have been the first people to visit Iceland, Greenland, and possibly Nova Scotia before returning via the Hibbertias.
An Riasc is an abandoned 6th-century Christian monastic community. Early monks would have travelled to the edge of the world to preach "the word." The Riasc community represented the edge of the world as they knew it.

This tour was probably the top highlight of our Ireland trip. There were three of us visiting Dingle. We booked Mossie's 4 hour private tour of the Dingle peninsula. Mossie picked us up at our hotel (Dingle Skellig) just outside of town. Clean van. He laughed when I tried to get into the front of car and I got in on the American right hand side- which of course is where the driver sits in Ireland! I knew we were going to have a great trip at that point. He took us all over. We went to some places that only locals would know about (no spoilers- you have to go see for yourself!). We were laughing most of the time on the trip- Mossie has a great sense of humor, very personable, and is very very knowledgeable about the area. He can also sing very well! Anyway our 4 hour trip turned into a 6+ hour day. He even took us into town to a store where we were looking for a special item. In all it was a fun day. I strongly recommend booking his tour- it's quite and experience!! More like having a friend take you around. You won't regret booking this tour. Sláinte!
Our group of four friends had a wonderful tour of the Dingle Peninsula. We had researched Dingle tours, and Mossie came highly recommended. Mossie exceeded our expectations, and we could not have had a better experience. It was an unexpected glorious weather day, and Mossie delighted us with his knowledge, his expertise, his charming personality. We came as tourists; we left as friends. Thank you, Mossie, for sharing with us your beautiful Dingle Peninsula. We learned so much about Dingle, Ireland, and life in general. I cannot recommend Mossie highly enough. He is the best tour guide I have ever encountered, and Mossie gave us a day to cherish and remember.
This was one of our favorite days. Mossie picked us up right at our vacation rental in his newer, spotless van. Not having to deal with driving, parking, knowing the must see items, etc. was such a blessing. Mossie was absolutely charming - he knew the Dingle history and all of the locals (we loved listening to them speak "Irish" to each other). Mossie certainly has the Irish story telling talent. 10/10!
My dad, mom, and I had a fantastic time with Helen. She was so knowledgeable and patient. The tour was personalized and exceeded our expectations. We learned so much and the views of the Dingle Peninsula are captivating. I highly recommend Mossie Tours. We truly enjoyed ourselves without needing to worry about driving on the slea head drive or having to pick the best places to stop. Do not pass this opportunity up!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Helen. She drove us, in style, to see the local archeological sites and beautiful countryside and waterside views. It was inspiring and memorable. We were so lucky to have a sunny day and blue skies which made it all the more beautiful. Helen gave us a deeper understanding of the history of the area. She even squeezed in time for us to get a pint at the western most pub in Europe. We'd love to come back and spend more time.
My son and I had a wonderful time with Mossie! Educational and fun trip seeing spots we would not known to have visited and learning things we would not have learned solo. We had a car but opted to do a private tour and so glad we did! Slea head drive and Connor’s pass were beautiful. The beach we stopped at was a favorite for me. Would 100% recommend. Thanks Mossie!
We had THE BEST DAY EVER with Helen! Who was INCREDIBLY patient with my 6 and 10 year old kids! She gave us a private, customized tour of Slea Head Drive - my kids were obsessed with animals so she even suggested a stop on the way that we didn’t even know about where they could feed sheep, lambs, horses, goats and pigs! They were in heaven! Never mind the fact that it was the most picturesque day of our lives! Helen was absolutely LOVELY and our family adored her. We are definitely planning on coming back to Dingle and will definitely be using Mossie’s Tours and Helen again!
Wow! Truly the trip of a lifetime! TLDR: Book now! You won't get any better! Our private tour with Helen exceeded every expectation we had, and honestly became one of the most meaningful experiences of our entire trip (if not our lifetime). From the moment we met her, we felt completely welcomed and cared for. Helen is incredibly kind, warm, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely heartfelt in sharing the place she calls home. The experience felt beautifully personal from start to finish. The car was spotless and comfortable, and we immediately felt relaxed and completely at ease with Helen driving. She thoughtfully tailored the day around our interests, offering options along the way and making the experience feel effortless, intimate, and special. The Peninsula is rich with history and absolutely gorgeous - without a doubt! And, what made the tour unforgettable was Helen herself. As someone whose roots in the area go back generations, she shared not only the history of the region, but also stories, relationships, and local insight that you simply could never get from a guidebook. Everywhere we went, it felt like she knew someone, had a story, or could show us a hidden gem we never would have discovered on our own. We truly felt like we were seeing the heart and soul of the area through the eyes of family. In fact, by the end of the day, it honestly felt less like a tour and more like being shown around by a beloved cousin. “Cousin Helen,” we already miss you — and we absolutely will be back. This experience left such a deep impression on us. We still find ourselves reliving moments from the day and trying to hold onto the peace, serenity, warmth, and welcoming spirit we felt while with Helen. It was more than sightseeing; it was a genuine human connection and a memory we will treasure forever. If you are considering booking a tour, book here now. We cannot imagine a better experience, and we would choose this tour again and again without hesitation.
Mossie made our experience with our son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons, one of our most cherished memories, not only of Ireland, but of our extensive travels throughout all of Europe. He brought history to life with his storytelling style and made an adventure out of all of our excursions for all three of our generations. His blend of his knowledge of Irish history, his personal and ancestral experiences, singing with our grandchildren and adults, as well as his moving recitation of a poem that touched us all as we viewed the majestic Dingle Peninsula, gave the highest quality experience imaginable. Thank you Mossie!!!
Mossie came highly recommended and our family of four was not disappointed. Even with not great weather, Mossie was a terrific tour guide and treated us like VIPs with all his insider knowledge. Everywhere we went, everyone knew Mossie! I was happy to not drive for a day in order to better relax and enjoy the views. Thank you, Mossie!
I really enjoyed our tour with Mossie . We did it as a school group and had a great time learning lots about the Dingle Peninsula , Mossie is an excellent tour guide.
Very informative experience. Very enjoyable! Learned lots about Irish culture.
Went with Presentation Kilkenny. So much fun! Really good tour guide and really engaging. Lovely sing song was had 💕🎵☘️
Really good tour guide. He was very engaging and had some really fun facts to share. Had a great time and amazing singer too
So much fun. He was such an incredible tour guide with so many fun facts and stories and really gave a true insight into the Dingle life 🔥
Great experience, the tour guide was exceptional. Very entertaining, knowledgeable and a great singer! Couldn’t have asked for a better tour Highly recommend to anyone interested.
Great enthusiasm, informative experience, very enjoyable
Very enjoyable tour. Mossie was very knowledgeable and engaging. Amazing singer
A long overdue review. I can’t recommend Mossie highly enough! From start to finish, this was an amazing experience that exceeded all my expectations. Mossie was so knowledgeable about the area of Dingle and Slea Head drive. He spoke about his life growing up in Ireland, sung us songs about the flowers that we passed on the drive, spoke in the Irish language, and provided history of Ireland. Mossie told us about his experience with the Star Wars movies that were filmed in the area and had many fun anecdotes about the productions. He even gave us a copy of one of the pamphlets handed out to cast and crew during filming to take home with us. Mossie was the most personable tour guide I’ve ever had. He had a great sense of humor and made us feel so welcome. I have two teenage daughters and they loved spending time with him, especially when he went out of his way to take us to see and hold some baby sheep. He went above and beyond to ensure that the tour was tailored to us and what we wanted to see and to make it fun. If you’re looking for an unforgettable tour experience with someone who is not only a guide but a storyteller, Mossie’s tours are the place for this. I can’t wait to join another tour with him in the future.
Helen picked us up from our Inn. She was friendly, very knowledgable, and clearly enjoys providing tours. Before we got on the road, Helen asked what we had done thus far and tailored our time based on our input. One of the highlights was Conor's Pass when we scrambled up to Peddler's Lake (the "hidden lake").
My daughter Michelle, my sister Terri and I spent 4 hours with Mossie as he shared the history and beautiful stories of the Dingle Peninsula. It was an amazing journey taking us back centuries. His knowledge is amazing. Mossie is all you need to discover this beautiful surroundings and all the sights, sounds and rich history of this very special part of Ireland. Thank you Mossie for an incredible Saturday morning.
We had an amazing tour of the Dingle Peninsula with Helen. We were lucky to have nice weather which made the views stand out. Helen is local and her knowledge of the region, the history and the culture combined with the Irish language made the tour very enjoyable. She was very accommodating to us and she was quick to take our picture at popular sites which we greatly appreciated. I’d highly recommend the tour.
We had an absolutely fantastic 4-hour tour of Dingle with Mossie as our driver and guide! From start to finish, he made the experience enjoyable, informative, and stress-free. Mossie is a native of Dingle, and his knowledge of the area really shines…he shared fascinating stories and history that brought the beautiful scenery to life. He was especially great with the kids, even arranging a special stop where they could feed farm animals, which was such a highlight for them. We were running late at the start, but Mossie never rushed us and made sure we still got the full experience. He also took us to hidden spots we never would have discovered on our own…true gems that made the tour unforgettable. Mossie is not only a skilled driver but also a wonderful storyteller, and his passion for Dingle makes the whole experience truly unique. If you want a fun and memorable way to explore this stunning part of Ireland, Mossie is the guide you need. Highly recommend!
We booked a driving tour with Mossie motivated by our desire to relieve the driver in our group of three of the responsibility of maneuvering those narrow local roads. We enjoyed our four hours along the Dingle Peninsula with Mossie. He picked us up from our hotel which, of course, was ideal (and, at the end, dropped us off in town per our request). Mossie is very knowledgeable about Ireland's history and, since he grew up in the Dingle area, shared about that. Best of all - we could enjoy the spectacular scenery without worrying about the driving.
Perhaps we’ve been blessed with the luck of the Irish? Give Ireland’s history, maybe not such a good thing? However, Helen and Mossie of Mossie’s Tours are the real deal, the REAL DINGLE!!! How dare we be so lucky to find Mossie’s Tours. We met at a place of Helen’s suggestion, and Mossie was personable and everything you could ask for wrapped up in Irish charm! Quick wit & a good voice to match his humor - he grew up on the Dingle Peninsula and his knowledge runs as deep as his family tree. We hopped in his van as he engaged us with his stories and wealth of information about the area. We enjoyed Connor‘s pass and the lakes created from the Ice Age. We saw beehive huts and lambs and movie sets and, MOST OF ALL, the most beautiful scenery along the Irish coast. We saw beautiful beaches with crystal clear water, Blasket Islands & sleeping giants, mountains scraping the heavens surrounded by centuries of peat, pristine lakes, waterfalls and unparalleled historical sites, all enhanced by Mossie’s grace, love and extensive knowledge about the landscape and the history both he and Dingle hold so dear. We have great memories, a few treasured pics, a new song & a nice prayer to show for our day as well as the great pleasure of making a friend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Dingle Peninsula with Mossie! He is so knowledgeable about the history and geography of the area. We could enjoy the spectacular scenery without worrying about driving along narrow roads since Mossie did the driving for us. We were delighted to learn that Mossie and my brother had a friend in common - small world! I highly recommend Mossie's Tours!
My mom, brother, and I were in Ireland for a total of 8 days and we can all agree on one thing: this tour was THE highlight of our trip. He managed to not only stun us with some of the most spectacular vistas we had ever seen, but he also had the most interesting anecdotal stories. And that’s not even including the knowledge he shared with us about the area. He had us go on a hike up the side of a mountain which is something none of us would have attempted on our own. He patiently helped us up there and at the top, recited a poem about slowing down and appreciated the moment that was EXACTLY what we needed to hear. Honestly, five stars doesn’t even do this tour justice.
This was a very memorable tour which we really enjoyed. Mossie was so friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the famine cemetery which he had helped to restore. Then we went around the Dingle peninsula. We stopped to feed sheep, donkeys, horses and pigs which was fun. We also visited a great beach. We will never forget the memories of our fabulous day with a great guide.
Helen was a wonderful guide. Her knowledge of Dingle and the region broadly added so much to our experience. Despite the dreary, windy weather, we had a fantastic time. I would recommend this family-run tour experience to anyone traveling to Dingle.
Our guide Helen was the best! Extremely knowledgeable with a real passion for the area. She was considerate of our group’s needs. The timing of our stops was great. Just a lovely time. A wonderful way to see the area around Dingle.
Wow, what an amazing tour! Moossie went above and beyond to make sure we learned a ton and had a blast together. I highly recommend it!
Helen was excellent, and the tour was fantastic we would highly recommend this outing! The best way to experience the Slea Head Loop.
We did a private tour with Helen and had such a wonderful time. Would highly recommend booking a tour. Such a great experience with beautiful scenery and Helen was so knowledgeable to give us some very interesting history. And it was definitely a bonus to avoid having to drive on the roads in the peninsula.
This was one of our favorite experiences in Ireland! Mossie is a fabulous, extremely knowledgeable tour guide who is native to this area and takes great pride in Ireland. Hard to pick our favorite part of the tour- spectacular views, small (easily walkable) hike to hidden lake, newborn lambs galore, beehive huts..it was all great. 10/10 recommend ☘️🐑
I am so thrilled that we had the chance to tour Dingle with Mossie’s Tours. The town and the surrounding environs are incredibly beautiful, but to experience that with local experts who have such deep knowledge and strong cultural connection to it all made for a special day that my family and I will never forget!
Helen was wonderful. She picked us up at Murphys’ Bed and Breakfast in the pouring rain. She showed us the lookout on Conor’s pass so we could come back later. It was too foggy to see anything. Then we headed on the Slea Head road. What a beautiful drive. Helen showed us Skellig Michael (Star Wars) location and all of the locations spots where they shot “Ryan’s Daughter”. Helen is from Dingle and knew everything about it. She speaks Gaelic as well. The baby sheep and bee huts were not open but Helen spoke to the fella and he let us use the toilets. Then off to the most western pub and had a pint and spoke to the bartender who had spent some time in the states playing Gaelic Football. My dad has Alzheimer’s and sat in the front with Helen asking the same questions over and over and she was patient and wonderful. We really appreciated that. All in all this was one of the best moments of our trip. I love to be immersed with people who live locally. Highly recommend trip with Helen!!! Robin T
We enjoyed an excellent private tour with Mosie in a luxurious and very clean van around the Dingle Peninsula a.k.a. Slea Head drive. First, we went to Connor Pass, where he gave us a great view of the area and told us about the geology and how the glaciers had created the peat bogs below. I was glad he was driving us around the peninsula since the roads were probably even more narrow than on the ring of Kary. The day was cloudy, but we had basically pretty good weather since other days it rained most of the time. We stopped off to see the beehive shaped dwellings of the early Celts, and he explained their lifestyle of clearing the fields and raising their animals. He took us to some spots that we might not have known to visit on our own and we enjoyed all of his stories and information. He took great care of us and was willing to accommodate any request. Overall, I would highly recommend this trip as a way to see the area.
Mossie was such a remarkable guide! He curated our experience to meet our needs, plus he was kind and knowledgeable. From holding a little lamb, to recounting the history of the area and driving so well over Conners Pass…we wholeheartedly recommend this tour!
We were so fortunate to spend our first days in Ireland in the delightful company of Mossie Scanlon. A responsible, friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, Mossie took us out to the Dingle Peninsula where the breathtaking sights along the coast were accompanied by his extensive knowledge of the history of Dingle, both ancient and current and its connection to the wider story of the Irish people, their strength, their struggles and their spirit. He was also able to give us some fabulous recommendations for the best spots for good meals and wonderful music. On our final day, he helped us with transport to the Tarbert ferry that would take us to our next destination. We came away from those two trips feeling well taken care of, well introduced to the rich history of a place that was completely new to us days before, and with a new friend we hope to meet again. I cannot recommend Mossie's Tours highly enough
This tour exceeded all of our expectations. Mossie was a delightfully enthusiastic guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about all elements of the Dingle Peninsula. We strongly recommend him.
I cannot recommend this tour and Mossy enough. Mossy is so nice! As a local, he is intimately knowledgeable of the local history as well as the best spots for viewing, hiking, shopping, and ice cream! We spent six hours with him driving through the Dingle Peninsula and I was sad when it ended. He gave us a beautiful history and shared a beautiful poem with us -Slow Me Down, Lord. My only regret was not booking him for more tours during our short trip to Ireland! Thank you Mossy! You touched our hearts and we fell in love with Ireland. We can’t wait to come back and see Mossy again!
Helene made our experience truly exceptional and personal. She told us a beautiful poem in her native Irish language, adding a unique touch, and her deep knowledge of the country’s history enhanced our trip. Highly recommend!
Never had a better tour anywhere. Mossie was pleasant, informed and anxious to design the tour based upon our interests. He took us to places few people go and provided helpful information along the way. All reviews rate Mossie's tours excellent and those reviews are accurate. We increased the number on our tour from 4 to 5 and thinking it may require a larger vehicle offered to pay more than the original quote. Not necessary. The van was perfect and the tour couldn't have been better. Pre tour arrangements were also handle perfectly. Go with Mossie's and you'll be glad you did. Fred P. USA
Every stop along this tour was great! Mossie was great at sharing the history of each and every sight. Very Knowledgeable! We not only enjoyed the beauty of Dingle, but got a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the wonderful Irish people!
Just did Mossie’s 4 hour Dingle tour with Helen and it was amazing! Great information about local culture and history. Went to so many great spots for pictures and scenery. Highly recommend!
From the moment we stepped into Mossie's spotless nine-passenger van for our 4 hour tour, we were greeted by his warm welcoming energy. His voice, clear and strong, carried through the van with the help of a speaker system-especially appreciated by one of us with a hearing issue. It was a dreary day and within minutes we forgot all about the weather and were totally fascinated by Mossie's wealth of knowledge and masterful storytelling. It was an amazing day filled with beautiful sights, Irish history, poetry and song. During the 4 hour Dingle Peninsula tour and a 6 hour drive with sightseeing from Dingle to Galway the next day, we were captivated by the richness of Ireland's past. Mossie's genuine love for his homeland and his continuous quest for knowledge brought an unparalleled depth to the experience, turning facts into memorable stories. Our 10 hours with Mossie were the absolute highlight of our entire trip, both informative and unforgettable. We can't recommend him (and his lovely wife Helen) enough.
Mossie's Tour was fantastic. Mossie brought so much insight, knowledge and fun to the Dingle Peninsula drive. Since he grew up in the Dingle area, he brought in many personal stories about the area. Thank goodness that he was driving, as that left us to view the amazing scenery. He also was able to get into so many beautiful spots, that we never could have gotten to. Highly recommend this Tour!! Red and Nancy
I cannot say enough of this Tour and the guide Mossie Scanlon. A native of Dingle, his personal story became the story of Dingle and enriched a wonderful day. You will feel immensely comfortable with Mossie and feel like you have known him your whole life. The peninsular tour included a narrative of the flora and fauna which was beautiful, Celtic archeology and everyday life for Celts, Christians and the common man. The landscape is second to none. I highly recommend this tour.
We had a wonderful 4-hour tour with Mossie on the Dingle Peninsula. He mixed history with charming commentary about the people and places of the area. We were thankful for his driving skills so we could all just enjoy the beautiful scenery! Thank you, Mossie, for making Dingle even more special!
