Hidden costs, food was dire, stated 2 alcohol drinks, 1 each. Spent more time asking for money while you sat and ate. Then a village tour where they pile on sad story for money. Promised a link to pictures, never received even after WhatsApp requests.

Itinerary
You will be collected from your South Coast hotel or villa and driven by minivan to Shimoni where you board our dhow to go to the Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park. This excursion is not suitable for collection from North Coast Mombasa hotels as the travelling distance is long. Many guests still do it but there can be long delays at the Likoni ferry. Snorkel at two different dive sites with the chance of seeing dolphins on the way and in the park. Dolphin sighting not guaranteed but highly probable. We see dolphins regularly and there is plenty of marine life to see. Then proceed to Wasini Island for an excellent lunch of fish and crab. Alternatives of chicken or vegetarian can be ordered in advance.

In the 10hrs we were with them, we've had maybe 1- 2 hrs of actual snorkeling. The rest was travel, and lunch. We wanted to primarily snorkle so the excursion might not have been the best fit for us, however, we've had a good time anyway. Their crew was great, good energy and humour throughout. If you're looking to pleasantly pass the time, this excursion is for you. If you're looking for snorkling as the main event, maybe look at other options. We travelled in September, saw dolphins, a turtle and sting rays, but not much else. We've enjoyed it nonetheless and do recommend in general due to the good vibes and no pressure crew. Our driver Derrick deserved 5 stars.
A brilliant experience, great to learn about the reef and see it coming back to life. Watching a pod of dolphins swim past us in the water was one of the best experiences of my life! The crew were mindful about respecting the natural habits of the dolphins at the same time as giving us the experience. The lunch was a fab experience and also delicious! Thank you.
our family enjoyed the snorkeling. the captain of the boat was responsible, and the staff on the boat actively looked after our children in the water to make sure they snorkeled well and returned to the boat. the air-tubes of the snorkel had some black spots from mold so see if you can bring your own
A lovely day on the Indian Ocean, two hours of snorkelling followed by an excellent lunch.
Excellent service and amazing experience, right from pick up to drop off. Lucky to swim with Dolphins, and amazing food and hospitality at their restaurant. My kids loved it. We shall be back soon.
Fantastic for luck of a better word
Good snorkel experience, but I was disappointed in the lack of education about reefs, the park, wildlife, and conservation. The staff did not advise to use reef-proof sunscreen or provide it. Could have been a much more informative trip.
An unforgettable day – perfectly organised from start to finish What a brilliant day. Everything was so well organised, from the clear and helpful communication beforehand to the smooth logistics on the day itself. Not long after getting on the boat we were lucky enough to spot dolphins, and it wasn’t long before we were in the water snorkelling. We saw large sea turtles, schools of fish, and then had the incredible experience of dolphins swimming around us – absolutely unforgettable. Lunch was much better than expected, served in a beautiful setting with friendly local service and delicious food. We finished the day heading back to the port via an interesting cave, arriving home around 10 hours after we left. Honestly, we couldn’t fault it. Swimming with turtles and dolphins will live long in the memory. Highly recommended.
This was one of the best experiences in Mombasa. We really enjoyed the service, pick up from home to Shimoni, the boat crew, lunch everything was superb.
We went with an extended family group ranging from 75 years old to 4 years old. Pickup from hotel was good and we got on the boat ok. The boat is a traditional dhow with tarps providing decent cover from the sun. We got a bit of dry plain cake and a cup of juice, I think the cups were clean at the start but as the day progressed, if you asked for a drink, you got whichever cup they laid their hand on, they certainly weren't cleaned from customer to customer. We got issued with snorkelling gear, which was pretty worn, again I assume it was cleaned before we got it but it seemed a bit grubby and we all used cleaning wipes to try to improve it. Although we had checked that their would be suitable gear for our kids, they had limited options and the masks weren't a great fit for our youngest, luckily we had his swimming goggles with us, the fins again were a poor fit with unsuitable options for the kids. The snorkelling itself was pretty haphazard, we stopped at the crowded snorkelling site and all jumped in and it was very hard to keep together as a group or to see where our guide was, there were so many other groups that it would have been very easy to get lost. The snorkelling itself was limited, the reef seems to be in poor condition and not a great abundance of fish or colourful corals. Very hard to distinguish where our boat was as the current moved us along quite quickly and there were so many other boats about of similar style. I didn't see the staff counting people on or off the boat at all and I think it was pure luck and clients efforts that ensure no one is left behind. On the way back in the boat we saw some dolphins which was cool. We had no information as to what type of fish or corals we might see during the snorkelling. We had lunch at the island which was nice, though make sure you do not ask for an extra bit of chicken (there was plenty there) or you will be scolded. My father said when asked that he didn't want the seaweed dish but was told to try it anyway and got some plonked on his plate (I think this was he guy that owned the outfit). To get onto the island you get into a small dingy and they bring you to a cool cave entrance. It's cool to look at, but with the waves pounding up against the coral type rock and the boat moving up and down and in and out as you try to get off it is pretty sketchy. It was worse trying to get off the island again as you are jumping down into the boat and trying to keep your feet. Not really suitable for the 75 year olds or 4 year old that we had with us. Packed into the dingy like sardines we had to crash through a few waves before getting back to the dhow and they took us back to the mainland. It doesn't take much imagination to see how a disaster could happen if you met a wave slightly side on or mistimed your jump into the boat off the rocks. I've got my padi licence and have dived and snorkelled in a number of locations but was glad I didn't book a dive here as the safety was so inadequate for snorkeling, I'd hate to see what the diving is like. I've read a load of the other reviews and the owners don't seem to take any criticism seriously, always blaming the reviewer and saying that they are slandering them etc. No doubt the response from the operators to my review will be the same.
Excellent day out with the team - seamless organisation from pick up to drop off. We had a few hours snorkelling over two sites and guides are available for those less confident. They also pointed out things we might have missed like cottons, calamari etc. we had dolphins swim along side as we sailed out to the island and then come quite close when we were on the reef. Lunch was served in a lovely island restaurant owned by the company. We had a 7 min jungle walk to get there as could not offload at the main jetty due to high tide so take shoes that can cope with roots etc. it isn’t far just potential ankle twister ground! The food was very tasty - soup and chapati then crab and seafood main with various side dishes. There was some fruit and cake afterwards and delicious lemon grass tea. Wine, beer etc served too. All in all we throughly enjoyed our day so thanks to all the team.
A fantastic day trip, totally exceeded expectations. We booked through our hotel the evening before our trip , were collected at 07.30 from reception by a lovely driver. At every stage of the trip the itinerary was explained clearly and in multiple languages as necessary. All the staff were so friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. The snorkels and fins were high quality and time was spent fitting them properly. Sliders were provided for the short walk over the rocks to the island. A stunning pod of Dolphins came to play in the wake of the Dhow just before we got to the reef. The briefing for the snorkelling was detailed and guides swam with the group ensuring we were all safe. Life jackets were worn by nervous or weak swimmers and the guides had floats if anyone needed a tow or rest. The reef was beautiful, the fish stunning and the guides pointed out hard to see fish, like the octopus, moray eel, sting rays and at one stage called us away from the reef for a most incredible experience , the pod of dolphins came and swam with us. Truly amazing. We had two snorkels and then motored in the Dhow to Wasini Island where we had the most delicious sea food lunch and gorgeous welcome by the ladies, then time to relax in this stunning setting before a quick boat ride back to the mainland. The crew were so attentive that our towels etc had been neatly folded and tidied for us. The taxi then met us from the jetty and dropped us back at the hotel. A totally seamless excursion, exciting and fun . Thank you for a very memorable experience.
Great day! Everything ran exactly as written. Staff was very fun and professional. I loved that we got constant updates about what was next - how long transfers were, where there would be washroom stops, when we would be eating etc. The included lunch was in a beautiful setting and so delicious!! Note that the ladies at lunch will ask for a tip, so prepare enough for the driver, boat staff and lunch staff. I just wish we had a bit more snorkeling time and less time at the restaurant. Saw dolphins in the way and tons and tons of fish snorkeling. The sea was pretty rough so take meds if you get seasick.
Overall a great experience. They offer pickup/dropoff from Diani and lay out very clearly what the itinerary of the day will ve like. We had two chances to snorkel - I was not timing the exact length but they both felt plenty long. Great variety of sea life. The lunch was good but I am fairly sure I got food poisoning from it. If you plan on tipping, there are three separate times - once at lunch for the lunch ladies, once at the end of the boat ride for the crew, and once for your driver when you get dropped off. The lunch ladies are pretty pressure-y as they come around with a basket asking for tips. But other than that it was overall a good experience
What a fantastic experience we had on this day out. The crew on the dhow were really good guys who were informative and very friendly. We had a lovely lunch and snorkeling, added bonus we saw dolphins. Highly recommend 👌
We had an amazing time. They organised for our big group of almost 20 pax. We were blessed with many dolphins! We appreciated the high professionalism of the team from the taxi drivers to the boat staff. Snorkelling was great because they are so organised with young kids that we felt our young ones were very safe and were taken care off experiencing their first snorkelling given us space to adults to enjoy snorkelling as well. Then a big big up for the lunch. The place is very nice and the buffet was very tasty. We highly recommend to book your dhow safari through them
We were picked up at our hotel (on Diani Beach) at around 7am for a roughly 1h30 drive to Shimoni, the village next to Wasini Island (do not bring your own plastic bottles of water or other as you cannot enter the nature reserve with those). The boat is a typical Swahili dhow which is very comfortable and felt very safe. Complementary soft drinks were available. There are two snorkeling spots on reefs which are both wonderful. We got to swim with 4 dolphins (including a baby), an octopus, a starfish, and many fish species. The crew were fantastic, and allowed my girlfriend (with less experience with snorkeling) to hold on to a round buoy pulled by a crew member - so this experience is available for all levels of swimming / snorkeling (a couple even did scuba diving, although I would say it’s not worth it as the reef is not deep and they split from the group, so they entirely missed the dolphins and the octopus). The lunch is on the island, with a beautiful view of the ocean and typical Swahili food. The food is delicious but in low quantity so expect to remain hungry after. Following lunch, you are brought back to Shimoni where there is a quick stop to the caves (it’s OK but if we didn’t have it we wouldn’t have missed it), and then drove back to the hotel. We got back at around 5:30pm. In our opinion the crew and aquatic animals that you can see in the reserve you made this snorkeling an unforgettable experience.
We stopped off from our World Cruise and took a snorkeling trip as a shore excursion with Pillip Pipa Dhow (through Pullman tour agency) and it was fantastic! The dhow was fabulous, we were protected from the sun and enjoyed learning about the islands off the coast of Kenya (close to the Tanzania border). Our crew were enthusiastic, knowledgeable (including a former biochemistry teacher who taught us a lot about the marine life), and very focused on making sure we had a great time. They know the coral reefs and marine life well and clearly take fantastic care of this gem marine sanctuary park. They lent us snorkeling equipment and worked with each of us to optimize mask, snorkel, and flipper fits. We had an outstanding lunch at Pilli Pipa. The primary meal was focused on seafood and crab, but there was a chicken option I heard rave reviews about and my vegetarian option (samosas, chapathi, and another vegetable dish) were delicious. Honestly, the region is beautiful but it was the kindness and professionalism of the crew that made this so special. This was one of the best times I've had on vacation and I highly recommend it.
From warm welcoming to great adventures of the sea, pili Pipa is the best partner at shimoni, great entertainment, great food and professional guides. Experienced captain. Big thanks to oduor who made sure my snorkeling fun, I saw octopus, turtles, jelly fish, star fish and many more, my colleagues enjoyed the lunch, and I can't fail to comment about the entertainment during service
A great way to spend a day from Diani Beach! They take care of everything - transport from your hotel, a snorkeling trip at Kisite Marine Park, lunch at Wasini Island, and an impactful tour of the slave caves at Shimoni. Not experienced snorkelers, we felt safe and taken care of in the water. The ocean was pretty choppy, at least when we went in February, so keep that in mind if that's a concern. But Pilli Pipa is a great team!
We had an unforgettable day. The driver was on time to pick us up, kept us informed of where we were going next and what to expect (bumpy road, national parks registration etc) The show ride to Kisite was lovely. The wonderful staff efficiently kitted us out with snorkeling gear and kept us fed and hydrated. The highlight was the snorkeling and seeing the magic of the beautiful underwater world. What made it even better was the guides pointing out all sorts of special creatures like a sea turtle and a sting ray as well as gorgeous starfish on the bottom. The food was fine and a relaxed break. The end of a fantastic day, with special thanks to all the staff at PiliPan.
A totally slick operation. From the collection at our hotel to the provision and organization of diver gear, the staff were friendly and professional. The diving and snorkeling (one of each) were amazing. Fantastic viz and variety. The meal supplied was fun, tasty and varied. Even their punctuality was spot on! Very fair value for money and a good day out.
Had a brilliant time. Well organised, very friendly professional local staff, one of whom spoke a little English, French, Italian and German. Saw many different types of colourful fish, in a safe environment. The meal at the restaurant on Wasini Island was delicious, cooked by local women. They even made a birthday cake as we were celebrating a birthday! Thank you for a wonderful day!
For a 40th birthday present Pila Pilpa Dhow safaris had been recommended to us by friends living in Kenya - it was magical from start to finish :) Even arranging this from the UK was made super easy and the team made the whole day feel special and effortless. The dives were incredible—we saw a white tip reef shark, octopus, turtle, loads of lobster, a big moray eel, and just so many beautiful fish! The water was so clear, and the whole experience was just breathtaking. After the dives, we headed to Wasini for an amazing crab lunch that was honestly one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Just when things seemed like they couldn’t get better the staff surprised us with a birthday cake after lunch! It was such a thoughtful touch, and my partner was completely blown away. The team was fantastic—so friendly, fun, and attentive. They made sure everything was perfect and created such a relaxed, happy atmosphere. If you’re looking for an incredible Dhow adventure, this is it. Between the diving, the food, and the amazing crew, it was an unforgettable day. Huge thanks to everyone who made the 40th birthday celebration so special!
I took a boat tour with 2 scuba dives and lunch on the island. The boat was pleasant, staff warm and invested in laying out safety and comfort. Scuba dives in the area were really lovely as I saw a huge range of marine life. The highlights for me included a pod of dolphins, and two octopus, both of which I’d never seen before, but there were also plentiful reef fish to admire. Selina who led my dive gave a full safety briefing and reminder of dive protocol and I felt in excellent hands. During the dive she pointed out oodles of interesting animals to look at and kept a reassuring eye on my sometimes errant dive technique. Afterwards there was lunch on Kisite island. I had feared it would be a generic delivery of basic foodstuff, I was happily completely wrong. A lovely setting, a selection of well made dishes, drinks generously included, and the gourmet centrepiece of so much juicy seasoned crab. Also drinks and post dinner dessert and tea. I was happily stuffed. I would definitely dive with them again and plan to also check out their home resort nearby too.
What an amazing day.!!!! My husband and I visited last week, and we could not recommend it enough. The staff were friendly and greeted us promptly. Once settled on board the staff came round to each of us, to ask how comfortable we were with snoring and the sea. As a non swimmer I told them this, and was given a correctly fitted life jacket and a snorkel and mask. We left to go out to the coral reef. We stopped as we saw a pair of dolphins. As we neared the reef, a staff member came and told me he would be my one to one guide, he had a ring with a rope. He explained all I had to do was hold the ring, and he would guide me. He made me feel relaxed and safe. Once in the water after a few minutes to calm myself I had a great time. My guide would point things out to me which I wouldn’t have seen by myself. We also stopped so he could explain about the reef and was very knowledgeable as were all the crew on board. I had the most amazing time, and would definitely recommend this for anyone. Especially if you are a nervous or beginner swimmer.
My husband and I did the day trip safari. It was the first time for us and a bit challenging, but the professional crew took good care of us. Every moment was carefully arranged for, from the pick up service with Benson the driver who showed us around while driving, the fantastic fresh mandazis (like donuts) on the dhow, and gourmet food at lunch, to Jason and Calvin "Nyati", hands-on management. Special thanks to Melvin who converted a challenging snorkeling experience into magical moments. Thank you Pili Pipa!
I would highly recommend this snorkelling tour, even if you are not a strong swimmer or experienced at snorkelling. It was a full day trip, we were picked up from our hotel at 7.30am, and returned at 5pm. I have done many boat trips and can honestly say that this was one of the best organised and professional that I have experienced. The whole team were committed to giving everyone the best experience possible. I am not a strong swimmer so one of the team members (thank you Salem) looked after me so well and allowed me to experience the same as everyone else with the confidence that I wasn't going to get into any trouble in the water. We saw so many wonderful fish, a sea turtle. I loved the fact that the team were so respectful of the sea life. Refreshments were provided on the boat. The lunch stop at Wasini Island was a special experience. The ladies who provided the lunch were informative, proud of their food and happy to help. Whilst it is a lunch of fish, there is the option to have chicken or vegetarian for those who do not eat fish. It was a really beautiful setting.
Our time with the team of Pilli Pipa was amazing. They were able to explain about the area and worked hard to give us a best experience. Our group had a variety of abilities and they were patient and helpful with all of us. I ended up getting seasick and they attended graciously to my needs. Our lunch on the Wasini island was delicious and served with pomp and ceremony by local people. Overall, I highly recommend this trip.
We booked this late the night before, knowing it would be a risk, but the Viator team assured us we were on the pickup list. The following morning, we were ready to go but had not heard anything from the Pilli Pipa Dhow team, so I sent a message to see if they were on their way. Sadly, we were not on the pickup list, but they had made some calls and managed to pick us up and get us to the bus on time! The trip itself was remarkable, and we were well taken care of by every single person on the team.
Fantastic day trip! Great communication from tour operator, driver and crew. Snacks and drinks provided. Clean boat and good equipment. We got about 2 hours of great snorkeling. Staff was helpful and attentive to those who required assistance or first timers. Large amount of fish, corals and anemones. We saw dolphins and turtles and got inked by an octopus. Great time!! Boat ride was a bit rough on the way out but the crew were kind and attentive to passengers. Rough seas are out of their control. The trip back was smoother and very enjoyable. Family atmosphere-not a party boat. Lunch was spectacular with wine/beer and all other drinks. Food was great with crab, fish, chicken and vegetarian options. Highly recommend!
We had the most amazing day trip on Dhow boat, visiting Wasini Island, snorkeling in the Kisite Matine Park. We saw all sorts if fish and sea life on the beautiful corals. We paid an extra $50 for a fun dive and it was the best experience of our whole trip to Kenya. We swam with a pod of dolphins, saw lobster, sting ray, octopus. The guides were fantastic, the boat was well equipped and the staff made youcfeel really safe and were very experienced Padi trained and brilliant at guiding you. Snacks and drinks were provided on board, there were not a lot of people on the boat and one instructor to one or two divers. The lunch was delicious and even if you don't like seafood there was plenty of vegetarian and meat options. The staff throughout the trip, from booking, drivers, waiting staff, all so welcoming and I can't recommend highly enough. We even went to visit the slave caves afterwards which was included in the price. Well worth every shilling!
OMG what an experience! Just the best snorkelling experience ever! Yatin and team were awesome and looked after us in and out of the water. The ride out was a little rough due to winds, but nothing the team can do about that. You get a good couple of hours of snorkelling and you see some amazing colours of fish, as well as turtles and octopus. We also saw a school of 5-6 dolphins swim right past us whilst getting back on the boat after snorkelling. Lunch was simply fantastic, 2 different types of crab, fish croquettes, rice, veggies. Samosas and pakoras for the vegetarians too. Just amazing, I cannot recommend this anymore that I already have!
Very helpful and friendly staff on the boat and on the island. We saw many colorful fish, corals and sea stars. On our way we even met dolphins. Unfortunately there were no fins left for our daughter since all were taken by the other kids, so she was the only one without fins which made her sad. Apart from that it was a very nice recommendable trip!
We were picked up punctually at the hotel at 0700. From there we travelled to Shimoni, where we set off by boat. After three minutes we saw the first dolphin. On the boat we were told about the programme for the day and what to expect. Due to my longer diving break of 18 months, our dive master, Mr Mohamed, explained the most important things to me again in a very professional and detailed manner. I felt very safe again afterwards and was able to enjoy the two dives to the full! The underwater world was a dream. The subsequent lunch on Wasani Island was the crowning glory of this great day. The place is beautiful, the staff is attentive and helpful. The sea food is so fresh and extremely tasty. Thank you to the whole team at Pilli Pipa, everyone was very friendly and professional. It was a great day! We will be back! Ella, Barbara and Marc
the staff are helpful and friendly. Once on board they serve us drinks and snacks. There are hot tea , coffee , water, coke and some soft drinks with biscuits and bread. They take good care of us as son and me can barely swim. They give us life jackets and a staff leading our family to do the snorkelling. The kid equipment fits my 6 year old boy. This is his first time doing snorkelling and thank you Pillipipa giving him a superb experience! We had lunch at Pillipipa restaurant on Wasini Island. The mangrove crab and fishball in the lunch are gorgeous. what an unforgettable family trip!
Excellent Tour with attentive awesome guides. They are so caring and attentive. They want to meet the needs and desires of every attendee and do a magnificent job of providing that. Beginning to end fantastic trip Truth: I only wish they had their sail and we utilized the sail instead of motor. Nonetheless a brilliant, fun trip with exceptional guides.
We booked this trip at our hotel. Arrangements were smooth. The trip includes hotel pick up and transport to the port to join the Dhow. All staff were really friendly. The dhow is a traditional boat. Good sun shade on board. Basic but clean toilet. My husband as a certified diver did the dive option. Two dive masters on board - excellent equipment and support - and my husband really enjoyed the dives around the corals and sea life in the area. Teenagers and I snorkelled with snorkelling guides who pointed out sea life and talked about the corals. Snacks and drinks on board were lovely and then lunch at Wasini Island was amazing. The quality and quantity were fabulous and chicken and veg alternatives. The most delicious crab any of us had ever eaten. It was great to see the sea life off the Kenyan coast and travel on a traditional dhow.
We have gone on snorkeling trips in many different countries, and this company is one of our top experiences. The crew were friendly and just fantastic. There were a few hesitant swimmers, so they had a personal flotation device so you could just float while snorkeling. In addition, they had the crew get into the water and kept the nervous swimmers together. They would dive down and point things out that you might have missed. To me, that service is above and beyond. The boat was rocking on the way back from the marine preserve and I was very happy to be wearing a motion sickness patch. Highly recommend Dramamine or something before getting on the boat. They had plenty of water, soft drinks and some snacks on board (all included with the price). There is a small toilet on the boat; its not ideal, but it gets the job done if needed. The crab lunch on the island was also very good and wine and beer were included. I would not hesitate to book this excursion again - it really was a great day with money well spent.
Such a wonderful trip, a bit of an adventure at 72 years climbing in and out of boats with choppy sea, glad I took a seasick pill 😀 as it was a windy day. The rest of the customers were much younger. The crew were safety first and happy all the time which was reassuring. There were no hidden extras except for tips. The trip had been recommended by our friend who lived in Arica otherwise we may not have have booked. It was great to meet the eclectic mix of travellers on the boat from all over the world. The lunch served by the Swahili ladies was out of this world in a wonderful location it occurred after we had a leisurely cruise entertained by dolphins and 2 snorkelling sessions with wonderful fish and corals to see in this protected reef. We were informed very clearly every step along the way about our itinerary and felt very safe. At the end of the day we were taken to the slave caves, a very sobering experience, and we saw bats down there. Some people stayed on the minibus but I would recommend that you go. Then driven safely back to our hotel. An exciting end to our African holiday.
We were collected at 0815 bang on time at our hotel by Muhammad our friendly driver in a comfortable but not luxurious minibus. The drive took about 45 minutes from our hotel in Diane beach. A short briefing later we walked to the jetty past vendors selling drinks and hats ( a hat is a must , as is sunscreen and ideally a rash vest or t-shirt to swim in ). From the jetty a short trip on a smaller motorised tender . You need to be reasonably agile to get on and off tender . We had two fit and active 75 year olds who managed with a little help from the crew . We saw several pods of dolphin which came close to our boat whilst we drank the offered tea/ coffee and pastry. A 45 -60 minutes boat ride in q rolling sea for onlly 15 minutes then we were dropped off to snorkel. The fins and masks were good . Your dropped 20 meters at least from the reef the swam . We were in the water for 45-60 minutes on each reef . We had three crew with saftey rings in the water with us . Its not difficult but you are in the sea and some way from the boat so you need to be confident. A couple in our group wore life jackets. After snorkeling you'll need to climb up a step ladder put over side with about 4-5 steps from the sea to get back in . The crew helped if needed. Two of our group didn't snorkel but still really enjoyed this trip The crew were cheerful, made us feel comfortable but also professionally and we felt safe . After snorkeling we motored to Wasini Island. You are offered water , sprite or coke . Arriving at Wasini we transfered into the tender . The tide was high and trip in to Wasini never felt unsafe but there were a few waves . You need to wade ashore in about 30 cm of water and climb some steep steps from the sea to get ashore. Again this was managed by the two 75year olds in our group . The food was fantastic, they said chicken was an alternative to the seafood but no one in our group had this option. Service was attentive. The dinning area clean but basic and traditional protected from the sun . Soft drinks , beer and wine along with coffee and tea were plentiful. I declined the offer of a third beer or wine , opting for coffee and cake on a seat overlooking the sea. A tender ride back to our boat and a 10 minute trip took us back to the jetty and pretty much straight onto our minibus. A really enjoyable day . I would recommend.
I went with them for 2 days diving - first day in Kisite national park and second day at wasini channel village dives. They communicated clearly what to expect, were punctual and attentive. We saw dolphins along the way. The two dives offered different experiences with fishes, dolphins underwater and other critters. What stood out was their experience esp Jatin He guided well even with leisure divers all over the place - one was constantly attempting to surface when we were only at 10m due to sheer panic every 10 mins (not even sure how he got certified) another diver was going all directions except following us. Yet he kept them at check while guiding and showing stuff underwater. Not easy feat. Tanks, regulators, bcds, masks fins were provided as part of package and well maintained. They knew exactly the no of weights for each diver. Lunch was excellent - crabs, fish, roasted seaweed, seafood soup I recommend staying in Shimoni as it’s much quieter, very few tourists and not having to travel hours back and forth was worth the while. had the chance to see the reefolution at work and prices were way more reasonable than what I had in Diani
Snorkeling in Kisite was an amazing experience. Sea turtles, octopus, eels, rays, and a multitude of fish - even dolphins swimming all around us when we were swimming back to the boat. Although the coral was as colorful as I have seen elsewhere, its shape and texture we really interesting. The guide in the water with small groups of us would dive down to point out something we probably would not have otherwise noticed. He was also very helpful to me while I was having some trouble with my mask leaking. They had lots of equipment, including nearsighted masks for those of us who are somewhat blind. We appreciated the free transportation from our hotel. The lunch provided was a really nice experience - good food served buffet style with entertaining descriptions of each dish by the waitstaff dressed in traditional attire. Booking this trip was easy. Valerie responded to my questions promptly and answered them completely. We paid on the day of the trip. Highly recommend!
Top notch service, it's an excursion that me and my kids will never forget. We enjoyed every bit of it. From the boat man, the snacks in the boat, the dolphin sighting, the snorkeling well taken care of. I don't even know how to swim but I managed to snorkel with the help of the boat men. The restaurant food presentation was out of the world. I will recommend you guys to my friends and family. Thank you for the unforgettable experience.
Reliable, well-established company for trips to Kisite national park. Very good seafood lunch on Wasini island. A few things that could be better: - you need to transfer several times between a small boat and their larger dhow - dhow used an engine 100% of the time (not sure if they sometimes sail? Would certainly be nicer! Or if you’re going to use an engine, then I’d like it to be a little faster - it was a SLOW boat (so it takes 1h to get to Kisite from Shimoni) - Snorkeling is limited: you get 2 sessions of ~45 min each. From pick up to drop off, you’re talking about a 10h commitment and you only get to experience the main purpose of the trip for 1.5h…
I recently went on a snorkeling tour with "Pilli Pipa" and it was amazing. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the snorkeling spots were breathtaking. The seafood lunch was delicious and the views were stunning. Highly recommend this tour.
We had a very enjoyable time with Pilli Pipa. The entire crew was so nice, friendly, and hardworking. They made sure everyone was comfortable, well-equipped and looked after. The crew also catered to both experienced swimmers and less experienced ones so everyone had a good time regardless of swimming ability. The lunch was as delicious as other reviewers mentioned. It was a seafood feast! They also catered to dietary restrictions if needed. We ended the tour with a stop at the Shikoku caves. A sad history but good to learn about it as well. Overall a highly enjoyable day thanks to the Pilli Pipa team. Highly recommended when in Diani!
Great experience! The people are kindly and have a lot off experience. They also use good stuff and take care off you when you not that abel to swim. The lunch was delicious and you can enjoy off the great views. Thanks for this great day!’ Diana
A great day out for all the family. We loved the dhow sail (we saw dolphins!); the crew were great and so helpful that we were able to snorkel with 3 young kids. And lunch was a real highlight - so delicious and a beautiful location. Thank you!
